Sister Wives Go to Therapy
A therapist’s exploration of Sister Wives, one episode at a time. In Sister Wives Go to Therapy, I examine the family dynamics, emotional undercurrents, red flags, and personal development portrayed on screen, through a clinical lens. No diagnoses, just thoughtful reflections on what happens when polygamy, patriarchy, and parentification collide in one complicated family.
Sister Wives Go to Therapy
Sister Wives Season 1 Episode 4: Third Wife in Labor
Kody's fiancee Robyn helps out with the kids while Kody escorts Christine to the hospital to give birth; their newest baby is a week overdue and they must decide whether or not to induce labor.
In the fourth episode of Sister Wives Go To Therapy, we witness Christine giving birth to Truely. She's alone in so many ways. Kody is physically present, but emotionally detached, and it’s clear that their relationship has some passive aggressiveness coming from both sides. Kody prioritizes seeing Robyn over being there for Christine IN LABOR. Meanwhile, Robyn steps in to help with the kids while Christine’s in the hospital, and she's tearful about her own family growing up. I have some theories about what's going on there. Let’s get into it.
