What is going on, guys? This is going to be a special Easter egg episode of Slabnomics. A little bonus for you guys. I'm not going to do any promotion for this or any of that. I'm just going to throw it out there and give it to the people. So the format of what we're going to do today is a reverse mailbag. So I'm going to ask you guys some questions. And then if you want to hit me up on social media, go to SlabNomics on Instagram. And I should have a little post there that you can go and you can give me your favorite questions. What that's going to do is it's going to help me when I plan for next episodes. I can come in with the things that are most relevant to you and that are going to help you most either in your investment theory or in your investment practice. So that being said, uh I always want to hear what you guys have to say in terms of feedback. So please don't be shy. Send me DMs, comment on those posts. And then for this post, I am going to have 27 different questions. So when I put those out, maybe go back during the episode, find the ones that you like the most, and then go comment those on that Instagram post that I'll have up. Sound good? All right, here we go. So for section one, I call it the game plan, investment strategy, and risk. Question one, how do you identify the next big trend in the sports card market before anyone else does? Question two, what's the biggest mistake new sports card investors make and how can they avoid it? Question three, how do you balance short-term flips with long-term holds in your portfolio? Number four, what are the key indicators that a player's rookie card is going to skyrocket in value? Question five, how do you evaluate the potential of emerging sports or leagues in the card market? That's going to be one that I'm very interested in and I will be doing some work on in the future. Question six, how do you manage risk when investing in sports cards compared to other assets? I do believe that sports cards should hold a part of alternative investment portfolios for people. Not to say that everyone has to have sports cards, but I do believe everyone should have alternative assets. And last question for this section: what's the most surprising trend you've seen in the sports card industry over the last year? That would be a fun one to dive into. So the second section is buying edge acquisition and market positioning. This is my favorite section, to be honest with you. Question eight, what's the most underrated way to market and sell sports cards online? Question nine, how do you decide which players or sets to focus on for the upcoming season? You know, there's a lot of thought around this card, that card, and a lot of times we kind of forget sets, but I think sets can be just as dynamic as individual cards can be. And there's going to be differences between cards. Not all cards are created equal, right? So even if it's the same player, you're going to have different price velocity in different cards, different sets. And it would be really interesting to dive into what that looks like and what those motivators are. Question 10, how do I compare the investment opportunity for one player versus another? Question 11, which builds right off of that, how do I compare the investment opportunity for one sport versus another? There's definitely going to be some work done in the background by me on that one. Number 12, what's the best strategy for breaking into international? What's the best strategy for breaking into international markets with your card sales? I wonder how many of the listeners have done that on their eBay stores. Question 13, how do you price your cards competitively while still ensuring a healthy profit margin? Do you just look at past comps? Do you look at your own price of what you paid for it, what you're into it for? Question 14, what are some creative ways to fund your sports card investments without dipping into your savings? Question 15, and this is the last one for this section of margin and edge. What would it look like to have a financial advisor for sports cards? What are the benefits to me? All right. Section three, how do you handle the emotional ups and downs of the market, especially during downturns? We'll experience those on a micro or macrocosm. Question 16, what's the danger of never taking profits, either as a buyer or a seller? Probably bankruptcy. Question 17, how do you effectively negotiate prices with sellers at conventions or online marketplaces? A lot to say around that one with the national coming up and the Soko Expo, but the margins that you get by selling in person and the relationships that you build make it a very, very powerful thing to do. Question 18, how do you price high value cars differently than lower tier ones? There's some selling psychology in there. Question 19, how do you know when it's time to sell versus time to double down? Oof. That could be a whole episode. And number 20, what's the best way to handle shipping and logistics for high value cards? All right. Last section brand builder, business, content, and community. How do you leverage social media to build a brand in the sports card industry? What's the importance of networking in the sports card industry and how do you build those relationships? 23, what part of being a business owner in the space surprised you most? How do you keep innovating and staying ahead in a constantly evolving market? It's a very dynamic question. And what are some of the most memorable success stories you've had, and what can others learn from them? So hopefully those questions are things that get you guys thinking. Hopefully there's one or two that grabbed you in a certain way. And you were like, man, I wish Matt would talk about that for an entire episode. So head over to Instagram, replay this if you need. Apologies about the numbering. It got all wonky. And I hope that doesn't distress you guys too much. But short little episode here just to give you guys an extra and to help us with the episodes that we're looking for in the future. So with that being said, keep building, and I'll talk to you later.
