Annika and Molly Anne recap Liverpool’s win over Crystal Palace, celebrating a first Anfield goal for Alexander Isak and a standout Liverpool goal for Andy after a key Woodman save. They discuss the matchday atmosphere, lineup notes (Woodman starting, Curtis at right back, Robbo starting with Kerkez benched), and the late 96th-minute winner from Florian.
Off the pitch, they highlight Inside Training—especially coffee bar moments and an LFC Foundation Earth Day video featuring Milos. They also react to Mo’s injury, debate the controversial Palace goal with Woodman down, consider league positioning versus Man United, start transfer rumors, and share players of the week.
I'm gonna follow his main town. I'm sorry, this podcast is over.
SPEAKER_00Hey everyone, welcome back to Liverpool Curlies Podcast, a place where we welcome anyone who loves to obsess over Liverpool FC. My name is Annika, and I'm here with Stephanie and Molly Ann. We are three friends who share a love of Liverpool and dream of one day having a cup of coffee at the Axa Trading Center coffee bar. Stephanie's away this week, so it is just me and Molly Ann today. Molly Ann, how are you doing?
SPEAKER_02Hi, once again, two for two weeks in a row. I'm feeling great. I have no complaints. I'm living on a high. We are finishing this season as I hoped we would. The vibes are good.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, our dreams last week of having revenge against Crystal Palace came to pass.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm very thankful.
SPEAKER_00Me too. Okay, so before we start talking about the match, we had a couple different uh off-the-pitch content pieces released this week. We did have an inside training. I didn't get a chance to watch it, but did you?
SPEAKER_02I did. And as always, inside training to me is just so wonderful, so cute. And I love getting to see the different relationships and dynamics between the players. One of the highlights for me this week during Inside Training, okay, I guess I should say two highlights. We got some great coffee bar content of the guys just hanging out at the coffee bar, getting ready for their day. But also at the coffee bar, the boys were very intrigued, very invested in the fact that Alexis McAllister appears to have definitely one, if not two, earrings. And that seemed to be, you know, big big moment of the morning when they were filming that day.
SPEAKER_00How could it not be? Yeah. I did see, I think I don't remember if it was you or Stephanie who sent me a TikTok that was like something about this being Mo's last season at the coffee bar. I literally saw the preview, said, Oh, that's not safe for me to click on, and just didn't click on it because I like the idea of it, but I was like, I actually can't be crying right now.
SPEAKER_02So no, that's fair. I did also think while watching Inside Training, you know, last season the coffee bar was brand new, shiny, new toy. So I understand from that perspective. I do feel like as we've gone deeper into this season, the coffee bar is more of like a stop and go moment and not as much like a leisurely hangaround with my friends moment. And I would really love to, you know, see the return of this is where we hang out.
SPEAKER_00I mean, obviously, we have an extremely vested interest in the atmosphere of the accent or coffee power. Maybe more than most people. More than we should, more than we have the right.
SPEAKER_02That's fair to say. We are aware of that and we proceed anyway.
SPEAKER_00And we do, yes. Um, no, I agree. But sometimes that's like also, I don't know. I there's a merit to when something kind of becomes normal or routine again, and then you're like, oh, you get to rediscover it and be like, oh, the coffee bar is so pozzy. Also, when it's getting warmer, I feel like it's less of the like let's like cozy up and like have a cup of coffee. It's like, you know, I don't know. Yeah, I have hope it'll be fine.
SPEAKER_02And when Simi comes back, he will he'll bring a new judge to the coffee bar.
SPEAKER_00Most definitely. And then the people will just be gathering around because they need to hear the Greek saucer talk. Yeah, I need to learn from him.
SPEAKER_02So, yeah, as always, loved inside training. It, you know, had great, like great coffee bar moments, great strength training moments, great on-the-pitch training moments. And when if you got a few minutes to kill, I highly recommend the watch.
SPEAKER_00Also, Happy Blade and Earth Day. We did Earth Day this week, which is wonderful. But I did get a chance to watch the LFC Foundation video with Milos covering their outdoor garden program that they have, which was such a great watch. Did you get a chance to see it?
SPEAKER_02I did. I loved it. I love anytime we get to see like a new facet corner piece of LFC Foundation because there's just so much that they do, and you know, I love just getting to see the new pieces of it, but I absolutely loved Milos being featured in this, and it was just so adorable. And I was thinking back to him the beginning of the season, and we had just kind of put him in this like very introverted, uh quiet bucket, and watching you know, like I never thought he would be kind of front and center in something like this, and so I I love seeing like just his growth within the team and like his confidence build, why he's been at Liverpool and you know, to get to go do something with LFC Foundation on his own. I kind of just always thought if he went somewhere, Sobo also would have to be there. And so I loved that he got to go do his own thing and like yeah, just really showcase that growth and like independence and confidence that I think he's yeah stepping into.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's just fun to see him like learn about a totally different area and like hear him talk about his family and like oh my mom does this, like, yeah, blah blah whatever. Um, so that was really sweet. And just I was like, I want to go to the garden. Can I is is LFC Foundation open to any volunteer coming in, helping out with the garden, and then also meeting the players and they come to help with the garden.
SPEAKER_02Like, I have no selfish interest on this.
SPEAKER_00It's people LFC Foundation does a lot of really great work, and so seeing yeah, all the different aspects of it, it's fun. All right, I think we're ready to add our match against Crystal Palace. So good. I really at one point I thought we were playing Crystal Palace just like every other week at the beginning of the season. So this time it came around, I was like, oh my gosh, no, like we haven't played Crystal Palace for a minute. I thought they were kind of our number one rival at one point, but I actually didn't really get to watch it live. So I watched a recording of the game, which is always a different experience, but I think you did get a chance to watch it live. So what was that atmosphere like?
SPEAKER_02I got to go back to the pub, the the Seattle Supporters Club. We've been we've had a lot of really early games recently, so um, the pub hasn't been opened, so it was just fun to be back in person, not watching on the phone on my phone from my bed, being around other people. And in this game, we just had like some really fun goals and really good moments, and so it was great to be with other supporters to watch those.
SPEAKER_00I was working in a bed, and so I would like have moments where I had like five minutes before my next task or place I had to go, and so I'd pull it out and be like, oh, this is great. So I I texted you a few times of just like random things that I saw, but um, it was definitely in my mind. I was like, okay, Liverpool. So it was nice to be able to check the score and know, okay, yeah, things are heading in like this is good. Not feeling like staying out of control. Yes, and also when you know you're gonna watch a recording of the game, knowing that it's gonna be a game that you won is also a much more enjoyable experience. Oh, yeah. Because I have done it the other way where I'm like, I know I'm about to watch a game or we lose one nil. And uh that's just gonna be what it is. Okay, so the starting lineup. I know last week I had said after Woodman came on that he kind of was like making it sound like maybe Allie was gonna come back, but you had said that I think Allie's out for a little while longer, so we did see Woodman start, which is really exciting.
SPEAKER_02It was not only exciting that he got the start, his whole performance was very exciting and just so good. I know we'll talk about it a little bit more, yeah. But yeah, I mean, incredible goalkeeper and just no nerves, like so solid.
SPEAKER_00I was really impressed with him, and then otherwise, we saw Virgin Conante, of course. Uh Curtis was in the left back, right? Right back, hi right back to so that was fun. I you know, because it's always the question of like I I like seeing Sobo still in the midfield, I agree, and Curtis going to the right back. That's my take. Um, but then also Kirkz was on the bench, so Albos started.
SPEAKER_02So a couple yeah, a couple changes. Interesting. I think I'm really glad. I don't we don't know the reasoning why Kirkz is not starting like he's normally been. I'm really glad Andy's getting to start, and I hope we continue to see that through the end of the season. You know, whether it's just because we want to send him out with like a proper way out, you know, if it's to give him some time before he goes to the World Cup because he hasn't played that many minutes this season. You know, if it's if Tottenham, you know, the rumor right now is if Tottenham stays up, that's where he's gonna transfer to, but if Tottenham gets relegated, I don't know if this is a chance to kind of help showcase what he still can do and and yeah for other teams. So but I I enjoy getting to see him start. Kirk has played so much and grown so much. He's not gonna be in the World Cup this summer, so good time to go ahead and start kind of like winding down the season. But I love getting to see Andy out there and I'm glad he's not just on the bench to ride out the rest of the season.
SPEAKER_00It's really fun to get to have those moments, especially at a game that's at Anfield to have all the fans there to just celebrate and be together. Every time I was checking in, I was kind of like, I don't know, I was hedging my expectations to kind of be like, I don't know if we're gonna score, I don't know what's gonna happen. And so then when I I like looked away and looked down, and then I just saw Esak celebrating, and I was like, What did it happen? And so we got to have our first real isak goal and celebration because his first goal was so tainted um with his injury, so that was a really exciting moment, and it was like really fun to see. I mean, gorgeous footwork.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean, we when after you watched the goal, you had texted me, and I felt like it was like such a good way to kind of sum up the goal. And you had said, This is why you buy Alexander Isak, like in those just his reaction in that moment, working through the tight space, able to connect with the net, like in the yeah, it was just so so good. And I also felt like this was a performance watching him where it's like, okay, his fitness levels are increasing. Like we're seeing now kind of week over week him uh, you know, increase the intensity, start to figure out what it means to play with this group of people. So I think you know, he's been injured, or it was like preseason was a little shaky, injury, and now he's back, and yeah, but I felt really felt like okay, things are starting to click, and just such a good goal for ESOC.
SPEAKER_00I mean, our journey with Isak so far has been so extremely unlucky, it barely feels like he's been on our team, obviously. And yeah, so it it honestly gets me excited for next season to be like, okay, like what will this look like? Um, and I guess in the nick of time that he's back and able to produce goals with Ekatique being injured. So yeah, the time. Which, oh, I don't think. Did we talk? No, because this is our first uh episode since Eki's injury. That his like photo dump.
SPEAKER_02Um it's I was so good. Adore him. I love that he has like an AI video of him on crutches, he's running, he's kicking a football, like his sense of humor.
SPEAKER_00It like scratches my brain in the right way because it's like how I feel about things, but you don't you don't get to tell other people when it's like really disappointing, like how to feel about it, period. Um, and so when he like opens it up to kind of be like, just wait, I'm gonna come back even better. I'm like, yeah, see there you go. Yeah, we're gonna be good.
SPEAKER_02He also posted a story today of like his little scooter thing that he's riding around on. He tagged Isak in it. I guess that's a a point of connection for them. Yeah, they bought bed in the scooter, yeah. But also it appears that Hugo is potentially taking this photo from the toilet, but to go back and look at it, and I was like, my guy, I think you're sitting on the toilet. Sometimes we're just like, huh. This is, I mean, groundbreaking things to be discussing, but I'm so sorry.
SPEAKER_00I don't follow his main account.
SPEAKER_01I'm sorry, this podcast is over. Yeah, this is a toilet. How am I saying I not follow you go egg TK?
unknownI don't know.
SPEAKER_02I don't know what you're doing.
SPEAKER_00I'm bad, you guys.
SPEAKER_02So you've been following the more entertaining account.
SPEAKER_00Anyway, sorry to derail us. That moment was super special, and then I mean it was only a couple minutes later, was Andy's school. Yeah, and and even before ESEX school, there had been a lot of great shots. I don't know, it was an understanding game. What do you think?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, I think the first like 10-20 minutes for me did feel a little slow, not in a yeah, not in a way where I was like where I ever felt concerned. It just was like, okay, you know, we're getting our groove going. Um, and then I feel like once the goals started coming, obviously that changes the energy. But it was just, yeah, the first little bit I could have used a little more pep.
SPEAKER_00I texted you when I saw the score when before I was watching it, and I said, when's the last time that we went into a half at 2-0? Feels pretty good. Uh huh.
SPEAKER_02It does. It's an it was a nice place to be where it's like, okay, it's not a huge cushion, but it's better than we've been. So I'll take it. Andy's goal, this the whole entire like the block from Woodman, which I know he doesn't get the credit for the assist, but he should. And the say from Woodman, and it was just, I mean, we talked about this as being like a goal we've have seen Lucho score. I also thought to me, this was just like Diogo channeling himself through Andy and like what a beautiful assuming that that's probably Andy's last goal for Liverpool. Like, what a way to get it done. It was yeah, stunning. Absolutely stunning.
SPEAKER_00Perfect, like a perfect goal, so beautiful. It was so satisfying to watch.
SPEAKER_02I watched it so many times, but that's what I love to see our team look like. It was just yeah, so fun, so fast-paced, quick transition. And I love that after the goal, we see Virgil and Kanate going to congratulate Woodman, right? Because like without him, that goal doesn't happen. And so I thought it was just like a really great team effort, huge for Andy. And then I it just reminded me so much of what something that Diogo would have done, which was incredible.
SPEAKER_00Those very electric team moments where everyone comes together and like gets to celebrate. It just feels so good. And yeah, the middle of our season just was like riddled with a lot of fur and a lot of games that left us being like, oof, not a lot to kind of hold on to or be like picture perfect moments. And I just feel like this game, both both Isak's goal and and uh Andy's goal, like it honestly flaws goal too. Like it gave us those moments.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, one of the things we talked about yesterday when you were re-watching the game was like we're probably gonna finish third or fourth in the Premier League. I understand we're not gonna walk out of this season with a trophy, but you know, at some point in like mid-season, if you had told me we would finish third or fourth, like kind of comfortably, I would have been like, oh, sold, like give me that. And so I think it was just a good reminder for me of and we talked about this last week too. Like, I love this sport and I love this team, and I love getting to watch them play, I love getting to watch them train, like it brings me so much joy and has given me such great community. And my encouragement to myself for next season is like not to get allow myself to get so like swept up in like the chaos and negativity of it. And I think there's value of like being disappointed, right? Because we don't care, so I I don't want it to feel numb, but I was just like, oh yeah, like sometimes I got so worked, like, why do I get so worked up? Like, I think it's all gonna be fine.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it is, and I mean, I think too, like what's nice is when you see everyone else, all the players and the staff and the content, is it acting with a sense of freedom and the sense of like this is where we're at, and we're just working towards it. I think it's really easy to pick up the the negativity because that it's obviously like, yeah, fans are gonna have a negative reaction, but when your post-match interview from your players is that was really like not acceptable for Liverpool, and we need to, you know, it's hard to have a spirit that's like, okay, great. Um, so I think too, like it is hard, and also I'm like, but I agree that I just love the team, and I'm just happy to be alongside to watch all these different people work together and do the thing that they're so good at and figure out how to be a team. Like that, there is such beauty in the process. And, you know, it is kind of interesting this season, being like the end result will probably be something that I'm like, okay, cool, great. But the feeling of getting there this season was pretty painful, honestly. And not just like from a technical side, but just all the things that we went through this season, like starting off with like losing Diogo, the transition of Trent leaving. This is our first season, Trent, too. Like what? You know, um, and so a change in captain, co-captain C Mao leaving his contract early, the injuries that we faced. Like, there is so much this season that was just like kind of trudging through, I don't know, a lot of muck, I guess. And and it's yeah, I don't know. I don't know how to like almost process it that it's gonna end in a way that on paper kind of reads like a okay, it was a good season. Um, which it was like it was a good season, but it was a complicated season. And I feel for that, and I'm not like upset about that at all.
SPEAKER_02Like, no, that's just part of it, you know. Yeah, I think if it was just like, oh yeah, we win the Premier League every year, oh okay, cool. Like, okay, but like next season, you know, with the going into it with the hope of like we will perform better, we will do well, and how fun is it gonna be to look back and be like, wow, flow like really worked through this and like yes through all the criticism, criticism and negativity to be here.
SPEAKER_00Yes, well, and I mean to go way, way back when we were kind of like which Premier League team should we support? You know, I don't even remember. It's funny now for the context that we have, but we were kind of like, we don't want to pick a team that's like top of the table because you know we don't want to support Man City like everyone else.
SPEAKER_02Um not knowing it was because Liverpool and had like uh not as kind of like this season the year before we were like, well, they're not that good.
SPEAKER_00We were like, they're like eighth on the table, like think they're like sixth or eighth or something like that. So we're like, that's nice. Like, we were like, we don't want to pick a team that's gonna get relegated because that seems like a little too much to take in. But we don't want and we don't want to pick a team that's just always gonna win. So literally, we're like, they seem like they're decent. And then I remember watching the first season being like, Oh, I think we're like a top team. Like, I actually think we're like really extremely mainstream.
SPEAKER_02Could be one of the biggest clubs in the world.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so little on us thinking we're picking like an underground team called Liverpool. It's so funny to me. But anyway, it's just yeah, it's all in perspective.
SPEAKER_02You have to have these seasons to like have the seasons where you win the Premier League and where you win the championship.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Thinking of last season too, there was only one change. Cheese came to the team, but like I don't think we sold any any players who were on the starting team. The camaraderie that you're able to see come out of the team because of the fact that they had been together for two seasons in a row produced champions, right? And then this season, there's so much change. And so it's like hopefully next season we're seeing a lot less on the I mean, obviously, we know Melie's going and Andy is going. There will be continued change. But I mean, the number of people who left the club last year was so high. I'm hopeful that it'll be less transition, but also next year might also have to end up being like another transition year. I don't know. But all that just say what we'll have fun.
SPEAKER_02I will come back to this conversation. shouldn't say I'm it's okay to be disappointed, but I'm not getting swept up in all the the hysterics of it. No, that's not for me. Yeah, I can't do it again.
SPEAKER_00Sounds learned. So should we talk a little bit about Mo Leg?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Tough one.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it was watching it live because I watched the game at the pub and then we watched the recording. And so watching it live, I was just very confused as to what had happened. Um and honestly, even kind of on the it just the second time around, like I knew to start watching. But anytime you see Mo Salah just sitting down, not good. You see the athletic athletic trainers coming, you know, over to give attention. Like he's a fighter, so it's just never good. I really hope it's not that big of a deal. I don't know if it was precautionary the way he walked off the pitch and kind of just taking his time and you know applauding the supporters if he felt like that could be it. Or if yeah, you know, or if it's like just in case this is it, let me take my moment and you know, not rush off the field. I don't know. I yeah, it was very sad either way.
SPEAKER_00I agree, I didn't see it happen. I had heard a lot of things on social media of people just being like, was this Mo's last game as a red? I saw that and I was like, I'm sorry, what? So it was weird because I didn't process it watching it. I like knew going into watching the game that that Mo was getting hurt. I think it just made me think about what we were saying last week of like just enjoying every moment that we have and like it was really fun to watch him play, and I am hopeful that we'll see him on the field again before the end of the season. But you know, if we don't, like nothing about I don't know. I don't think that there could be a goodbye that is like I don't know if if I even have the words to describe like nothing will do it justice, like there's no No, that's the thing, like there's no perfect goodbye, like and there's no tragic goodbye, like it just is, and it's coming, and so it's like one day at a time. I don't know, that's how I feel about it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, I feel the same. Like, I don't know what it would look like. I don't know, yeah. I don't know there's a way that it's like this is how it should be. I think he's incredible and has done so much, and it will be sad and hard to see him leave regardless of what this season looked like and how he leaves. And you know, I also for not just Mo, but for all of these players, they're in this balance of okay, we've got four games left that I want to show up well for and make sure that we qualify for Champions League. That's clearly the goal at this point. No, also knowing when they finish this season, you know, for most of them they've got a handful of weeks and then they gotta turn around and play in like the biggest conversation to be. Yeah, and so you know, I wonder too with Mo, like how do you make those decisions? How do you balance that? And you know, I don't know. We'll just time will tell like what he decides to can do or decides to do. I mean, Mo takes such good care of himself and his body that if anyone can recover well and quickly, it's him.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I it makes me think about that interview he did, I think, two years ago, that was talking about like his mentality and his like passion and frustration as a player. And he said, I think that it was Andy who told him a couple years ago when you look frustrated or sad or mad at yourself, like the fans reflect that back to you. But when you just laugh or when you look happy about it, they hear that too. And and genuinely watching Mo's face yesterday and the I sensed peace, a sense of like what is happening, but also just like okay, I'm gonna clap and I'm gonna walk off and it's gonna be okay. And like as a fan, I like took that as permission to be okay.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, I think that makes sense.
SPEAKER_00That's how I received it. There was a moment where I thought Woodman could go down with an injury. We saw Pex E getting his kit ready. The idea of that happening is just actually makes me laugh, to be honest. I'm like, sure that makes sense, but kind of right now it doesn't make sense.
SPEAKER_02It does like, yeah, we should be playing our fourth streamkeeper. I think that makes sense. Oh no, I'm so thankful that I hope Freddie's like good in the long term. I'm thankful he could finish the game. I hope there is not like any further injury because he made that decision.
SPEAKER_00Well, and just let someone on our team have a good moment and live that throughout the entire game. Like, can we not? So I was happy for him that he did make it to the end.
SPEAKER_02That injury was kind of a controversial goal moment. This is true.
SPEAKER_00I don't know if you have any thoughts you want us to say our our takes.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean, I have I have my realistic take. I listened to Slat uh his postmatch. He was like very heated about it, which I understand. I understand. Once again, I'm just a girl that yaps on the internet. I'm not a football coach, referee, or player. But I do in like an I mean if they took the goal away, I'm not arguing with it. We keep a clean sheet, great for us. I do think it starts to set a very bad precedent if the whistle hasn't stopped the game, there's no head injury, the goalie goes down, you score, and the goal is taken back. And because we won the game, I'm like, I'm glad that's not the standard that was set in that moment. Woodman stayed on the pitch, right? Yeah, I have a lot of great areas where I'm like, if he has to come off, like, but he stayed, and so I think for longevity's sake, it stays. I think it's the right call, and we don't get into this weird, like, our keepers just gonna start going down because they feel like something yeah suspicious could happen.
SPEAKER_00It was a moment of mass confusion, like you could tell across the players. Some of the players were still trying to defend. A couple were just like waving at the ref, being like, What's going on? We saw RNA have some words with Sobo. We don't know what he said, based off of what the context of was going on. My assumption was that it was like you need to be still trying to clear the ball, like keep playing. Um it felt like one of those moments where I was like, obviously, it was confusing, and just the reminder I'm like, they all are like pretty young people, just like trying to figure out what is the best decision that you're making in an instant. Confusing, yeah, it was just confusing, but yeah, I I don't disagree with the goal standing personally, but I could be wrong.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm not married to it, but that's kind of my my take. I don't want goalkeeper shenanigans, and I think it just was very like the ball was still in play, it was not a head injury, he played through the whistle. Unfortunately, it resulted in a goal.
SPEAKER_00There was that moment that luckily didn't result in a goal.
SPEAKER_02How it hit the post and did not roll in. I am so thankful, and also that just felt like a moment that would have happened to us, and to see it happen to another team this season. I'm like, I'm so sorry, but I'm so thankful. Okay, and then we ended the game with what a 96 minute from Florian Verts. Beautiful, 96 minute two weeks in a row with stoppage time goals. Yeah, yeah, I like that. It's a return from the beginning of the season when I was living my peak high, but really, we were at the pub and we were like, this game's when we were just like at the 2-nil before Freddie got hurt, we were like, cool, but like now it's feeling a little boring, it's pathetic of us, honestly. And then Crystal Ballet scored, and it was like, not boring anymore.
SPEAKER_00You know, when people talk about being like lifelong Jets fans and they're like, like, why do I do it? But it's actually because I think they like the feeling of hating their team. That's this season has brought out a really ugly side of us as fans where we're like, maybe I want to stuff to put some tension here.
SPEAKER_02But to be honest, if we win, I do want it. I'm not gonna I still stand by that.
SPEAKER_00I know, I know. You started the season on Zayana and you're ending the season saying it's Sunday right now, so Man United plays tomorrow.
SPEAKER_02Well, if they lose, right, assuming because we're tied on goal differential with Man United right now. So if they lose tomorrow, yeah, then we would go ahead. If it's a nil-nil draw or they win they hold nil-nil draw, we stay. If they win, obviously they go ahead.
SPEAKER_00We just don't know exactly what's gonna happen. So we're looking at third or fourth.
SPEAKER_02So Kelly really needs us to do a solid tomorrow and not let Man United score. And Halo and Seth, and Hadoop. We got some boys over there, okay?
SPEAKER_00Putting in our papers, okay. I want you to remember where you came from, okay? And then we're playing Man United away.
SPEAKER_02So I know this we have a lot to play for right now. No, we do. Because even if we're it get to a place where it's like we're going to qualify Champions League, you still always want to be above man you and the table. We just oh we don't need to be finishing behind Man United.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I want to know the last time if there's actually I don't want to know. Yeah, I don't want to know when that's happened.
SPEAKER_02I'm excited because it will be my return to the pub. Yeah, it's a good fixture to have end of season.
SPEAKER_00I know the end of our season this year is like kind of a soft landing theoretically, but given the season that we had, it actually wasn't.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I did have one additional thought in that we saw Alison Becker at the game yesterday, and he is not playing. There was some hope Sly had given in his pre-match conference that Ellie could return. Obviously, Woodman started, did a fantastic job. We couldn't say enough great things about Woodman. Correct. There have been some rumors swirling that Juventus is interested in Allison Becker, and we don't know. We haven't had like any good confirmation of that yet. This is just my assessment as a bystander and somebody that watches these boys play a lot. There was just a little aura coming off of Allie that I felt like he could be going. And this is maybe just my plead to not do that.
SPEAKER_00And there's only so much that a girl can take.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Like I just uh like we're gonna lose Mo, we're gonna lose Andy and some other people, and I just need Allie to stay.
SPEAKER_00There is something about Alison Becker that like I feel so protective of him. I always remember when I first started falling in love with, I was like, I feel like he's my uncle. Like that is my guy. I don't want to face a world without Ellie on our team. I really don't. Stephanie can attest, I have cried multiple times, stressing myself out about Ali playing in the World Cup this summer. Because I'm like, if Brazil goes to PKs, Ali has to deal with that. Yeah. And I can't take that. Actually, to me, it was the same energy as Mo clapping off the field, where there was like a sense of where I'm like, are you like just here, like having fun, chilling because you're so comfortable here? Or is it because you're kind of like, I'm this is both my home and I know it's not my home forever.
SPEAKER_02And I could just be reading too much into it. I could be doomsdaying myself, but I was just like something in me is feeling like he's but if somehow Allison is listening to this, please just give us one more second. Consider, consider our You love Liverpool, we love Liverpool, and we love you at Liverpool. Oh, there's a lot to take in here, Molly Ann. I know. I'm like, we talked about a lot, and at the same time, all of a sudden I'm like, I have so many other thoughts, but I think they may remain a mystery for now. All right, well, all right, to give a special shout out to some players, so they definitely know we care about them. Let's do our players of the week.
SPEAKER_00Good idea. My player of the week is gonna be Florian. Um, what's actually really hilarious is that when I picked him as my player of the week, I wasn't like thinking too closely about the game, and I had completely forgotten that he scored a goal in the game. Which sounds strange because it's like, well, Annika, why did you pick him? But my point being that I actually picked him, like, yes, he scored a goal, but I just thought that he was playing a really fun game um throughout the whole match. He had that magical moment at the end. But I just feel like we've been seeing him, as I said a couple weeks ago, like persevere, fight through, figure out how to how to take up space and like make his impact um in the different context of the games that we've been in. And I felt like I was watching that again yesterday. So it was really fun. I like watching him play, and I liked the selfie that he posted of him and his dog.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So that was that moment seeing that selfie just for me was like a moment of like, oh, okay, he like he is feeling some of that like peace and freedom again. And I think maybe some of the tension is starting to melt away. Yep. And why you can garner that from selfie with the I don't know, but that's what I did.
SPEAKER_00And and the way that I'm like, so I understand that Mo wants us to feel peace.
SPEAKER_02It's like we also need a summer ballet, we also need a break. My player of the week is Freddie Woodman, because how could it be anyone else? Incredible performance against Crystal Palace. Looking at the stats from this match, Crystal Palace had seven shots on target, six shots off target, five big chances, one block scoring attempt, two shots hit the woodwork. So obviously, Freddie didn't stop all of those, but like they had the better shot stats than we did. And I think it just is like kind of backs up his performance in this match. He was so calm, so collected. Just not for one moment did it feel like our third string goalie is in as a keeper in starting in a Premier League match. Like, yeah, he really just owned that game.
SPEAKER_00I do think that Marmy and and Freddie could be the future of like our first and second string.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because Marmy's 25, Freddie's 29, so just a little bit older, but for a keep, you know, keepers have a little bit longer lifespan.
SPEAKER_03Longer.
SPEAKER_02Um and just so good. And it's been really fun to see him be somebody that is in the background and has from what we've learned the last week and a half, like has really great relationships and cares about this team so much. Um, and I just still remember like the when they were handing out the EA Sport, their player ratings, and he just was like, the most important thing is on here is that it says Liverpool. Like, I don't care about the numbers, it says Liverpool, it says Premier League, and that's where I'm at. And I think that was just such an indicator of who he is as a person and like what he's done to for this team this whole last season. None of us knew the work that he was putting in, but when he's gotten his chance, like the team is so excited for him, they celebrate him so well, like everyone has spoken so highly about him. Um, and I just so I love he's getting like this recognition and and this time in the spotlight.
SPEAKER_00So good. Yeah, he really carries that like the spirit of like we are Liverpool. This is who Liverpool is.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, four games left. But that's gonna be all for this week's episode. We'll be back here next week. But until then, you'll never walk alone.
