WHO REMEMBERS? The UK Nostalgia Podcast
A nostalgia trip for anyone in the UK who grew up on dial-up Internet, Findus Crispy Pancakes, and playground rumours that couldn't be fact-checked online. We're not historians — we don't do dates, and we barely do facts — this is about the moment something gets mentioned and you go "oh my god, I've not thought about that in years." Science says reminiscing gives your brain a dopamine hit, so think of us as your weekly dose of that exact feeling.
Expect hazy memories, childhood flashbacks, confidently misremembered events, and frequent arguments about who remembers things properly as we rummage through the UK's collective memory box.

Reviews, Fans, And The Algorithm
SPEAKER_00Hello. Um fans feedback. I say fans. That's a bit presumptuous, isn't it? I don't I don't think any of our our listeners are fanatics, are they?
SPEAKER_02Uh well you say that, I don't know. Well, maybe. So we've got a lot of comments.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so we we usually leave these for ages, but we're trying to get these um every month now. I'll bang straight into it, Liam. Um on the Apple review, we kept asking people, can you give us uh reviews? And last time we asked this, about five or six people got in. Brilliant. Unfortunately, only one person has since. I know you've only recorded one, is that because there is a lot of it? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, just the one and fair play to Green Bay Blade, fair play to him. He's the lone soldier. Look, I I'm not gonna so I don't review anyone's, I don't think. I love um Tufty Club, for instance, and I don't think I've reviewed them, so I understand why people don't do it. But honestly, if you've got a minute, go to Apple, give us a well you give us a one-star or whatever, and um it gets us up the algorithm, doesn't it, Liam? They're not gonna do it, are they? There's only Green Blade.
SPEAKER_02There's only Green Bay Blade who's Green Bay Blade.
SPEAKER_00Um he said, love these guys since the maidly pods. Uh, it's like being in a pod with your mates, chatting nonsense, funny, and interesting nonsense, by the way, but still utter nonsense.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think that's a vibe we go for. Yeah, he's he's we've charmed him, and he's he's charmed us with his response. So yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. So eights is what it wonders.
SPEAKER_02By the way, Greenberg Blade, that might not be fair. It could be it could be a her, so apologies if you are a her.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, true. But all welcome.
SPEAKER_02All our audiences statistically more likely to be male. That's that's why I'm gonna be.
SPEAKER_00You have a look at these sort of things.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, there's more there's more of the gals getting involved, so let's do it for the ladies.
SPEAKER_00Let's do a ladies' night episode, actually. Yeah, I love that. Yeah, eight is what it wonders.
Planning The Champion Of Champions
SPEAKER_00So before we start this, we have um got together with the Tufty Club lads and Adam Follett, um who's gonna help us out in a couple of episodes.
SPEAKER_02He's coming on to do the 2000s one it wonders, but actually we're struggling to compile a list of 32.
SPEAKER_00So we'll see what happens. Yeah, we're gonna do something around that. Um, but we are gonna do a champion of the champions. A couple of people did ask for this. Chris were one of them. Like we are they said, like, are you gonna do like the ultimate one-it wonder and stuff? We're not gonna bother with the 60s and 70s because we weren't alive, so it's gonna be the one-it wonders that we can remember. Once we do the noughties one, we're gonna get together with Webding and Deborah, and we are gonna pick out the the ultimate one-it wonder. And that doesn't necessarily mean the one it wonders that have won the one-it wonders were. I mean it should be so far.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, because we've forgotten some, because someone went out early, people have mounded about, we might we might find a way to get some back in the mix, but yeah, uh I think Webding was uh Mark Webster on the 90s one was sort of fairly what's the word? He he he it wasn't his kind of usual argument itself. I think he got a big agreeable, weren't they?
SPEAKER_00But I think if we get dead battle, but but it we were very agreeable on that. But after the 80s one, he thought we got that badly wrong. So we get both of them.
SPEAKER_02I think he's he's desperate to jump in and tell us lay down the law almost Mark Webster style.
SPEAKER_00So as we're speaking here, as you listen to this, if you think there's any songs that went out early that you think should have got further in the 80s and 90s World Cups, let us know, and they will go in as wild cards in the champion of champions because it depends how many things people suggest.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, in in theory, it's gonna be top eight from the eighties, the top eight from the nineties, the top eight from the two thousands, and then any wild cards, which yeah, things we forgot or things that went out too early. So, yeah, certainly let us know if you think if you're disgusted listening because a certain song didn't get in there, and this is your time now to put that out there.
SPEAKER_00But the reason we did this is because we missed out, Liam, a glaring omission from the 80s one. We should say it because well, it's gonna go in there. I think it like that.
SPEAKER_02No, no, no, it absolutely goes in. There's the there's an 80s song that we on reflection think would have got close. We can't say if it would have won it or not. Like we don't know, but yeah, I'm I mean, do you want to reveal it or should we say we'll reveal it because it goes in with the rest?
SPEAKER_00Opinion's only mine, and they uh a lot of people to be fair sent us a couple that either were a bit wrong or didn't get top 20 or whatever, and you know, good shouts. But opinions only mine said uh live it up by mental as anything, which I when he put that, I thought I don't know that.
SPEAKER_02Set face come up to mine humis on a dance floor, yeah. Great song. And opinions only mine.
SPEAKER_00We've certainly gone far. Yeah, and he's made us think we need to do a champion of the championship.
SPEAKER_02On this occasion, that the opinion is not only mine, it it it's it's a collective opinion, so spot on, actually.
SPEAKER_00Well, behind the scenes dead bat were distraught, weren't they? Genuinely distraught because obviously he did the 80s with us. Well, oh well, we'd have to do it again, like, because we can't, you know, but we have to genuinely destroy. He wanted us to make a statement because well, I'm just a guest contributor. Like, you you need to do a statement about holiday research, so I think he's as culpable as well as you, certainly more than me.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, oh yeah, big time. I can hide behind the fact that I did no research for the episode.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's fair enough from you, yeah. Um, Jed said uh his fate his his favourites were Dream Academy or Tracy Chapman. So the Dream Academy song is obviously Humba Wamba. Not saying that's gonna make it as a wild card, but if more people suggest that, maybe it will. And he also said, I hope you discussed that when Owen Paul um was on Pebble Mill. Have you seen this? I forgot about this. I'm gonna have to share this.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, didn't the music start before he kind of knows what's going on?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he doesn't know what's going on. Um and he likes you know, dancing around and stuff, but the music's in the background. I completely forgot about that. So great shout from from Jez. Simon said, No spoilers, but a deserved winner by far and away the best song. He said it should have been the uh the most one-sided final since Spain versus Argentina. He said the way it is is not even the best version of that song.
SPEAKER_02Probably agree with that actually, in hindsight. But but that doesn't that doesn't rule it out, but I do think uh we we had a or I had a heated debate about the West Coast versus East Coast on our group chat.
SPEAKER_00Well, we might do that as well.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we might we might bring that back in. But yeah, two-pack uh that's the way it is. It's it's better, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I would agree. Yeah, fair play. Paul said the main highlights were Liam's disgust at a great song going for, like it was Argentina, and rush hour becomes Liam's only uh uh form of therapy. Says whenever he feels a bit down now, he's gonna put rush hour on uh to get those serotonium levels up.
SPEAKER_02I listened to it a few times since yeah. I was walking the dogs at night feeling a bit fed up, and I thought I'm gonna go to rush hour. Have you listened to Rip It Up yet back since?
SPEAKER_00No. No, right. Well, maybe for the champions of champions, you may need to delve into that. Uh Jane said, uh I went into this with an open mind, but I've not packed made it past the first dismissal. Tarzan boy. He says one minute we're celebrating the fact that eights is at everything, and the next we're casually spitting out a Euro pop classic. Outrageous musical snobbery.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think she's right. I don't know if we said this in the episode, if I said it to you on the sort of pre-recording. I thought that was better than lots of the ones we had in it. So I I yeah, I I agree. We you know, we we dropped the ball. Yeah, fair play. I don't know why. Again, I'm I'm sort of default to the fact that I did I did contributed very little before the episode, but I I don't know why that wasn't in there.
SPEAKER_00You're like Liam Gallagher going into record when away when Noel Gallagher said, I've written all these songs, and him saying, What? You can't you know what where's all uh you wrote another one, didn't you? Like uh that there, no, that's not on the album, mate. No. As you were. As you were. Uh he also she also said uh and Phil Ridley said this as well, though. It's mad that Tracy Chapman only qualifies as a one-it uh wonder. Um she had two number one albums, would be very different these days with downloads, which is true, to be fair.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but I mean it's a fair point, but it doesn't change the one-it wonder. Sorry.
SPEAKER_00Uh Ryan said, can we have an update on the guy at Sainsbury's
Caravan Holiday Memories And Mishaps
SPEAKER_00who's Baylor that we used? Because obviously we're talking about when we went to the Moor Sainsbury store and he does the bales around here. Yeah, we tried to do a bailer because he does the bales round here.
SPEAKER_02I imagine he's in prison, but I I can't I imagine he still stood next to that bailing machine telling people that that other person wasn't even him, was it? The other person does the bales round.
SPEAKER_00No, yeah, sorry, that's it. Yeah, we talked yeah, it wasn't actually him who did the bales because he does the bales around here. Oh god, all right.
SPEAKER_02I think he's Phil's battle. He's still confident he knows who does the bales. He does the bales.
SPEAKER_00Joff said, great show. He loves the impression of Kim Carnes that sounds like Phyllis from Correy. What's it the Greaves? Kick Greeves. The real Dave Curry, which is an amazing name anyway, um, but he said, hi guys, Angry Anderson was in a cult Aussie rock band called Bros Tattoo that sung about Aussie gang violence and hard drinking rock and roll access. Said all members were covered in tattoos, including Angry Anderson himself. He said, How he got an invite to Scott and Charlene's wedding is beyond him. I uh yeah, what I don't get that. What's that about?
SPEAKER_02Angry Anderson was at the wedding.
SPEAKER_00More obviously, because obviously the song that they played when they got married was suddenly yeah, dunno. I've done the Kate Tunsa thing. Is that Angry Anderson? That's Angry Anderson. Right, I'm with you.
SPEAKER_02I I didn't know actually, I'd forgotten who did the song. I thought he was like there at the wedding, some kind of uh Australian gangster, and he was asking why. No.
SPEAKER_00Uh and now said very entertaining episode on a great decade of music. Maybe you could do a tournament on FA Cup final songs, which is not a bad idea when it comes around to the FA Cup final.
SPEAKER_02We I mean we could do like a last eight, maybe. You missed out Chris there as well, by the way, which is Oh, sorry, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So Chris saying we're sort of leaning towards do the winners of each decade go through to champions of champions? We are looking into that.
SPEAKER_00We are looking into that. Keep stay tuned. We are looking into that. Do you want to go to Caravan Olivies, Liam?
SPEAKER_02I tell you what, I bloody love to. Um Dan, once again, acceptable standard of podding. Thank you. However, fuming and devastated the confusion between Donkey Darby and the inferior version. Donkey Darby was much more interactive, could be class as sport, great theme music, and more importantly, I'm undefeated. Last win at 2024.
SPEAKER_00Fair play to Dan. Fair play.
SPEAKER_02What we're mixing up the the So what are you talking about?
SPEAKER_00There's one where it's like actual sort of You have to do something, don't you? You have to contribute. Yeah, and that goes through. And I think pure luck. Yeah, one we were talking about is putting 10 P's into a machine and yeah, and open Gaylord doesn't have to be a good one.
SPEAKER_02Dan likes the one where he can show his dominance.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, apologies, Ed. And uh I still don't know the difference. I still I think Donkey Darby is the one that he he's the good one at, so well well done. We'll have a look for that when we're uh on our road show.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_02Matt, great podcast, brought back loads of memories, uh going to Haven or Butlins and others in between. Long journeys in the cards, Cornwall or Chalet Skeggy Butlins. Uh remember watching 1986 World Cup final on a 12-inch black and white portable in a Cornish caravan. Yeah, I mean it's nice that other people sort of had similar vibes to what we remember, really. Um I had a black and white TV in my room, but I don't I don't think I remember as having a family black and white TV.
SPEAKER_00I had a black and white TV in my bedroom up until probably like at least mid-nighties. Last week. Yeah, probably, yeah, last week. But yeah, I remember once like falling asleep and it set on fire. But it didn't set on fire. It uh the smoke were coming out of the top of it, it set on fire, uh, I I suppose. Um and I woke up like to the smell of smoke, and I had to go, Dad, Dad, TV's on fire, my TV's on fire, and he came running up and yeah, it did, it blew up probably because it was probably from the 1960s to be honest.
SPEAKER_02But all good memories, all good memories, all memories are good, yeah. Stuart uh really enjoyed his trip down memory lane. Another idea I've had is who remembers national events is a solar eclipse 1999. Keep up the good work though. Oh sorry, keep up the good work you've put through. I don't know if he's put through or if you've put through. Yeah, I've probably fucked that up myself. Yeah, keep up the good work. Sure you've copied and pasted, you're not retyped everything. Yeah, I suspect you've got to be.
SPEAKER_00Oh, sorry, I what I did here because it's uh a Spotify reply, I had to screenshot the reply and put it through Calpilot. Yeah, yeah, you can't copy and paste it. So yeah, I had to screenshot the reply and then put it through Calpilot to say, what does this say? So it's my fault, aren't you?
SPEAKER_02So apologies, Stuart. I'll read it as a problem. Yeah, keep up the good work through, enjoy the episodes and work you do. Yellow bring back the memories.
SPEAKER_00Thank you.
SPEAKER_02We certainly do aim to yell bring back the memories.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, again, that's probably me rather than Stuart, but yeah.
SPEAKER_02Uh I also didn't think anyone else would do a countdown until going home. Um yeah, I think that's this sort of depressing thing about when you're counting down the days before you've even started to enjoy your holiday.
SPEAKER_00Uh horrible.
SPEAKER_02Nobody in the first week went away for a two-week holiday. Obviously, the countdown uh last few possible days to go to the beach. Yeah, you start running around at sort of time to do things, don't you? I love that like halfway through your holiday where you sort of say, well, we're not gonna have time to do that anymore. That's gone.
SPEAKER_00Oh, we can't do that. I mean, on a in a on an abroad holiday, we were we went to Poland for a weekend and we were gonna do outschwitz. Um but it it we we realised it's about an eight-hour tour, and then straight after we were seeing Paul McCartney. So that's that gone.
SPEAKER_02You can't do outchwits and then you're gonna be able to do it taking off his headphones really angry. I remember like fucking hell. So that's for God's sake, yeah. Uh going home is really sad and saying goodbye to a place you called home for the past week. So I remember how easy it was uh an accommodation on holiday in a caravan or to your parents' conversations when they're in a room. Yeah, so that so that's the sort of wafer thin walls we were talking about, and how you basically have no privacy in a caravan, to a certain extent, even to this day. No, you don't. I don't think you do.
SPEAKER_00I mean, uh I've been in your your uh other half's dad's caravan, and obviously when we go to Chapasot on, it's just me and you, but I I I think if I can hear you, you know, talking to the walls, then I I'd be able to hear that in my bedroom.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean you can see everything, can't you? And the fact that we spend the whole time naked does not help. Yes. Yeah, just be a new one for this one. Uh Joff went on two or three caravan holidays in the late 70s, early eighties. My dad would say my dad would always play caravans by Barbara Dixon on the journey down. Nice memory. Um yeah, early late 70s, early eighties, nice to nice to know still. I mean, I suppose they would still be very similar holidays, wouldn't they? I think caravans are better over time, but still the same experience. Tyrone, friend of the show. We're not but we had him on in a new format. Yeah, we've had him on for shirts, didn't we? Uh football shows. Yeah, yeah. But yeah, it's been a while, so Tyrone, if you fancy getting involved again, give us a shout. Great stuff again. My dream is to accompany you both to the infamous St. Chapel St. Leonard's.
SPEAKER_00Oh that infamous.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02And even accept it as a designated hanger on.
SPEAKER_00We can't have people come into that because, as we said, we we we do wander around naked, don't we? Even on the streets.
SPEAKER_02Not the full weekend, but yeah, but no, no. But no, it's quite a strict site, and and yeah, I don't I don't think we can open the floodgates to to anyone else joining us as much as we're gonna be able to do it.
SPEAKER_00Especially with the fans that we've got, like it's like Paul McCartney, isn't it? Opening it up to you know in Beatlemania. It'd be it'd be mad. If people like said Chapel Set Lenners, they remember us boys.
SPEAKER_02I mean if we were to that door, Tyrone is probably a safe pair of hands to join. Yeah, yeah, absolutely. Yeah. I I think yeah, we we we can't really go down that street. We'll we'll we'll maybe think about it. I mean if if Tyrone kind of wants to be there when we're there, it'd be lovely to hook up, but yeah, I I'm not sure I can get it past on the accommodation status.
Arcades, Piers, And Towed Caravans
SPEAKER_02But anyway, Gary, uh already the magic of the UK arcade. Remember Mad Dog McCree and the two arcades? I certainly the name rings a bell. I can't think what the game was.
SPEAKER_00So it's the like it's as the first actor led real animation. Remember the like real people, it was shooter, but with real people.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I I don't know now, I can't quite place it. I I kind of think I know I don't know, maybe no of it, but no. Yeah, fair play. Uh a full-blown episode of you two playing along this would be prime listening. I don't know if it's still a thing to be honest. Four completely different character parts for crying out loud. I'm exploding remembrance. Yeah, I I'd I don't know, I would have to look into it. I I don't know if I if I kind of saw it now, I'd think, ah yeah, or if I think no, that's not what I'm thinking of, but it certainly seems to ring a bell. Um Chango Mutley uh JP to those who know him in his previous formerly mentioned uh raises a good point versaty caravans versus toad caravan holidays, the latter for him, so he prefers a toad, uh many similarities, but some key differences. E.g. the pursuit of optimum pitch, minor metasticating caravan level, and the drama of wheel shearing off mid-tow. I mean, the last bit I can't kind of don't know anything about wheel shearing off, but uh we have taken a we have uh I've certainly stayed in a towed caravan, and yeah, it was a massive pain in the horse getting it set up. Yeah, it's static all the way for me, which then you could argue is it's not a caravan, you might as well stay in a in a lodge, but yeah, I'm I'm going static. Craig, good episode as always, not great, good episode as always, fellas. Uh interesting, you're both caravan holidayers. And a week in a hotel in Blackpool every year as a child, different holidays for different needs, and he's right.
SPEAKER_00He's absolutely this is madness, because Craig asked for holidays as a um when you were younger, and I sort of put this as like, oh, this is Craig's suggestion. And it turns out Craig has never been in a caravan too. It wasn't his suggestion at all. He just so he went all of his way, but yeah.
SPEAKER_02Chris says, and I imagine in the style of Ellen Partridge, idea for TV drama, peer pressure, bloke in 2026, gets twattered by a novelty hammer machine on a British seaside pier and wakes up 30 years earlier. Start oh yeah, it is very much Ellen Partridge, starting jet from Gladiators. Same town, 1996, no smartphones, no Uber, no Wi-Fi, just Woolworths Pugs, VHS, Mr. Blobby. That'd be amazing. Yeah, I would I would love to be that that man.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, imagine that as a like a I don't think it's like a a like I say, a drama.
SPEAKER_02It's a bit like uh what's it called, Life on Mars, but there's like versions of it, but that image that's gets shared that says something like Imagine if you woke up now and it's 1994 and it's a picture like your bedroom with your computer and your your Super Nintendo or your PlayStation and it. I mean I'm not I'm not sort of wishing the family away, but well thinks it would be nice, yeah. Yeah, yeah, absolutely. It was a nice time. Uh Chimpan stayed in a caravan in Gamel's back 1984, summer freezing, uh walking back from the beach and no shoes on, trotting dog shit, well trying to wipe my foot in the grass, managed to wipe it in another dog shit. Uh uh little, I think it's Angja's in it. I mean, that is uh there's bad luck, and then there's like it's like that's just not your day. Like try to wipe it off some more dog shit. Oh gosh, brilliant. Uh yeah, um they say uh what was it uh on the royal family where uh oh god it go on, who is it who dies a fitting tribute to the man that feels like a fitting tribute to Chapel St. Leonards, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Fitting tribute to Chapel St. Leonards.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, uh Nelson's comment. Still remember watching uh to this day, watching you bank v. Collins fighting a big function room with my dad at Butlins in Skeggy on the big screen was absolutely packed an atmosphere like a football match.
SPEAKER_00I love stuff like this, genuinely, like your sport in moments, and I I know there's a lot of people who were listening or whatever who are not into the sports, but I find even like obviously my mum passes, she weren't really into sports and stuff, but I sort of remembered I don't know, little events like remind me of her, if you know what I mean, even though she weren't like a big fan.
SPEAKER_02This is this is like you know, uh obviously kind of skimming through this really like hard, but but I suppose that's what we've tried to touch on in the caravan one is so A moment, so I mean, really recently, last couple of weeks, we went to Jody's dad's caravan, and me and If he sat outside watching shooting stars, it was uh one of these is it first waiting for a star to fall. Uh we didn't play that, but yeah, I suppose we were. That is that summarizes what we're doing. But yeah, I'll remember that forever. It was brilliant. We just sat watching shooting stars in the sky, and yeah, uh exactly what you've just said. You've got memories of sort of caravan holidays with with your mum that I know when you recently went, you said you really enjoyed it but felt quite sad in many ways.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like even watching the games. I'd I'd I'd gotta I always go to the pub with my dad to like watch matches or whatever it'd be. And I'd come back and my mum said what they were like, and blah blah blah, and like talking, it was like really weird coming back to the caravan when she weren't there, and that's a bit sad, like it's a bit depressive for what we're talking about. But it I think even people who are into sports, you sort of I don't know, you you you your sort of memories are almost all around big events, aren't they? And obviously, like in England, like the big events of the World Cups is that sort of northern working class.
SPEAKER_02Do you remember this? Do you remember that? But yeah, I I think what we've hopefully sort of touched the nerve on this episode was that that that is very much a caravan holiday, that whole vibe. Do you remember this? Do you remember that? Like, yeah, uh next comment, Dead Bar. Uh I'm I'm with Lee normally it's kind of it's it stopped multiple runs to sort of disagree with disgust at some of my opinions, but yeah, yeah. On this particular one, he was okay with it. I'm with Leroy 606 in that I've never been asked over rides or ice cream.
SPEAKER_00Mission Dead Bar having an ice cream. I've never thought about it before. Um with his massive coat on.
SPEAKER_02You want ice cream?
SPEAKER_00No, I'm alright. I'm alright, I'm alright. Just uh staring around thanks.
SPEAKER_02Um I missed those times. It's a family we're forced to be together and recall playing cards at night as the rain hammered down.
SPEAKER_00Well, I'll ask you that. Did you used to play cards? We used to in the early days. Used to play for like one pences and stuff. Waste of time, really. But like you used to play cards with a caravan.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and uh even sort of more recently, we we sort of do that now in when we go to Cornwall, we'll play whist uh Jin Rummy. Um Jin Rummy, yeah. I can't remember the other one, but yeah, yeah, no, we certainly have uh have card nights, yeah. It's definitely a holiday thing. Uh everything uh about it should have been really shit, but it wasn't. Yeah, which I agree, that's kind of that's exactly the point we're trying to get to. It's kind of all a bit tacky, but I just caravan. Yeah, it's showing off.
SPEAKER_00It's showing off, in it's showing off.
SPEAKER_02We're in Monaco when Grace Kelly died. Uh she's married to Prince of Monaco. That's it, that's all he's that's such a yeah, that's such a like well, it's in Monaco. Might as well just put by the way, I've been to Monaco.
SPEAKER_00I have been to Monaco, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Uh I do remember when I was young, casinos, big boats, etc. And we told Mum and Dad we cannot wear shorts out of respect to her passing.
SPEAKER_00Did you wear fun of this actually? When we it were really, really warm when what on earth are you wearing? Yeah, honestly, this life genuinely brings like uh just a couple, well, wherever it were a couple of months ago. It was 29 degrees, and me and my dad went to get my mum's death certificate a couple of months ago. And I'm wearing shorts, but I guess you can't what are you doing? You can't you can't wear shorts. I guess what do you mean because it's it's so disrespectful to wear shorts, get a death certificate. So to put jeans on, are boiling. Why why? Why is it disrespectful?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I don't know. I I mean I'm not. I I don't sort of I I kind of like the idea of your dad wanted it to be respectful, but yeah, I can't say to get a deficit.
SPEAKER_00We're in there about five minutes saying yeah, she's dead, yeah. That's it.
SPEAKER_02Let's go. And so what happened was you and your dad went down. Do you know like twins? Uh Arnie and Danny DeVille and about him matching suits.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, matching suits and went down, and yeah, yeah, he made me change my shorts. He said, like, you can't you can't get a deficit of it. So let us know.
SPEAKER_02I kind of get that more than dead bat's dad. Be fuming with the fact that Grace Kelly died and he's got his shorts on.
SPEAKER_00Imagine that. Like now, why what are you wearing shorts for? Freddie Mercury died yesterday. Get him off, get some jeans on.
Respect, Grief, And Family Moments
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and and I don't want to kill the vibe, but I I think we don't want to make a big thing of it. But obviously, Dead Bat uh kind of Uncle Bob to all of us, some knew him better than others, but he passed away recently and uh really really sad.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, really sad. We had it we obviously weren't there for the the first game of the season, but we we raised the glass to him. But yeah, we're Uncle Bob and Dead Bat. Obviously, we meet at Dead Bat Sheffield United games and stuff, and he used to sit with his Uncle Bob and he sadly passed away uh last month. And yeah, uh very good. I won't say this is a tribute to him because this would be an awful tribute. We can't dedicate to him because this is not fit for purposes. It's not an awful, it's an awful tribute to it.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, we are kind of sad to think we won't have a beer with him again. Absolutely. Uh and uh next comment from Jane, I know it's Jane Stacey again, I'm not sure. Uh oh wow, this one is emotional, probably the most nostalgic episode you've done for me at least. Uh also late to the party in the HT cartoons, but a big shout out for Spider-Man, his amazing friends in the category of cartoons, you're probably too young to remember. Uh I was in a caravan in Scarborough when Nasty Nick got ejected from I mean, I love stuff like that because obviously that was a huge moment, but if you could tie it to a specific holiday, yeah. That's up there with any sport event.
SPEAKER_00I think that's up there with any sport.
SPEAKER_02Well, I remember David Platt's goal, um, Italian I and yeah, I would say Nasty Nick and ejected is is right up there. I mean, obviously, we might be genuine as well. Like, do you know those iconic things that happen when you're away, and and actually, I think I mentioned it when we did the Big Brother episode, but the flip side to that, some so my best mate uh I don't know, I don't know why I should name him or not name him, but it doesn't matter anyway.
SPEAKER_00But it sounds like you're gonna like say my best mate, Rolf Arris me and Rolf, we um yeah, I won't name him, but not for any any reason.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, but he was away for all the Big Brother One, and yeah, I remember when he came back, like I'd I'd actually videotaped some of it for him and just wasn't interested. He wasn't there at in the moment, and and so therefore didn't like Vietnam, innit? It's like Vietnam, you weren't there, man. You don't know how bad it was, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Um I mean Spider-Man is amazing friends.
SPEAKER_00I do remember she sent us a um a link to this, and I thought it was 70s, but apparently it was 80s, and I do remember it. I don't know if it got into our top ten, to be honest, but yeah, I do remember it.
SPEAKER_02That that's incredibly disrespectful to Jane States who you thought watched the cartoon ten years before.
SPEAKER_00Well, you know, I'm no, I thought it might have been repeated. I'm not saying until she's 60 years old or anything. Maybe she is. Who knows? I don't know, you know. Again, everybody's welcome, even 69-year-old women are are welcome to the channel. She absolutely does not look that age, innit? She does not look that age, yeah. You're absolutely now I've actually I met her a game actually, and yeah, I can I can clarify that she does not look 69, even if she is.
SPEAKER_02Well she looks she looks younger than us, so fair play to her. So you know we we've aged well. Um well big time, yeah. Berlin Blade, I can confirm you can't. Oh god. I've just had to check that my my daughters are not in the vicinity as I read out Berlin Blade's comment. I can confirm you can have a wank in a caravan. That's why that's why the seats are material, it's why peasy. Why?
SPEAKER_00That's why as if they made it.
SPEAKER_02I've had a wank on a mega bus.
SPEAKER_00Do you think it's people might think like, oh yeah, just saying that I think that's yeah, I know. We doubt with it before, haven't we?
SPEAKER_02We've doubted it before. Yeah, his sort of songs. What were it? I mean, I was kind of okay with it. You you're a bit more sceptical, I think, but yeah, we've had our doubts about him. He started singing in a toilet, and somebody joined in with him or something.
SPEAKER_00Angels, weren't it? So he said he were in a toilet and he started singing, and then the person next to him goes, There's an angel, and the one next to him said, contemplate my and they were all singing it round. Do they know?
SPEAKER_01Where we go.
SPEAKER_00Anyway, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um I'm I'm delighted to say that's the last comment
Mysteries, Conspiracies, And BBC Micros
SPEAKER_02on that one.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, mysteries, Kate. Um sent us a link to a book called Conspiracy Mysteries and said, This looks up your street, St. Luke's charity shop on Mud Street. We yeah, I mean, you know, I don't know if you bought it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I've I've uh I shared uh mysteries book that I had with your dad, who was very keen to receive that. So yeah, we you know we're we're in for all that sort of stuff, yeah, definitely.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Uh Jane again, by the way, but thanks for the comments, Jane. She's banging the comments. She goes less than five minutes into this, and she's already officially launching the campaign for Who Remembers BBC Micro Computers, Elite Chucky Head Granny's Garden. Come on. You can't dangle that in front of her and not deliver the Tufti Club will second my nomination. I don't think we can do an episode on this because I don't really remember him that much.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean, I certainly know of BBC computers. I I I don't remember using them to a vast amount, to be honest. I don't know. I remember having red keys. Rennie's garden sounds really familiar, but I can't picture what that is.
SPEAKER_00I remember having like red keys and stuff for some reason. They were like quite sort of yeah, but I yeah, I don't think we can do an episode on that because I I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I mean it might be one of the things if we have a look at it, it might it might we might be flooded with nostalgia and think, yeah, we'll go for that. But off the top of my head, yeah, uh BBC computer.
SPEAKER_00I think Acorn were my yeah, my day, to be fair. Uh Ed said, talk about the Donaldson Mysteries, which is where the guy logged onto his computer and he was talking to someone from the past and the future. He said, if you doubt it's made up, they communicate through the BBC Micro and a self-powering computer that uh was a rival uh to 2109, which is one of the the guy from the future who left in the Tudor Times. He said historical effort uh errors are passed off as the Tudor guy testing them, and it gets a bit far fetched when Kevin Webster saved the Tudor guy from blackmailing sheriff, which I didn't I didn't see that in my research to be fair. Uh yeah, when Sally falls in love with the Tudor guy through dreams, uh long before Rosie and Sophie were born, and and Kevin starts to try to mug off to 109. Um there was a book on this, um which I don't think I mentioned on the pod.
SPEAKER_02To me, it's just absolute madness. It's just madness noise. What what what what we're doing? So it's not Kevin Webster tried to tie it into a yeah, we we called the guy Kevin Webster. But yeah, so what we were saying is So this is not he's not found like an article on this.
SPEAKER_00No, he'd read the book, or it it's deeper, but there is a book on the Donaldson mysteries by the guy who claimed it ties into Coronation Street. No, forget Coronation Street, he's he's he's he's murking us, he's joking with us, like because I kept calling him Kevin Webster. Yeah, so what in the in the But when Sally falls in love with the Tudor guy, yeah, no, no, no, but he's calling his other half the the the Webster he's he's he's gone beyond us, he's it's comedy beyond us. So he's gone to the next step. Yeah, so he's saying about the the the the role guy's other future, yeah, yeah, yeah. So he's saying Sally falls in love with the Tudor guy. Um yeah, forget forget the the Coronation Street thing. He's he's going with the joke. Rosa and sofa. It's from our jack, isn't it? Anyway, Rosa, it's from future, ain't it? I can imagine Kevin Webster just like shragging uh sh shragging it, shrugging it off. I can imagine him punching him back into the future. Oh yeah, definitely. Hey, what are you doing down here?
unknownEh.
SPEAKER_00I can imagine definitely Kevin Webster being the sort of man who breaks his computer if it don't work. Well, you I mean you have a history of that as well, to be fair. Yeah, and I'm not even Kevin Webster. Webding, actually. Another Webster. Never really put that together, actually. We should call him Kevin Webster. Webding. He said if every one of the mysteries can be summed up of some prick made it up or some prat messed it up.
SPEAKER_02I mean, to be fair, he's right, because that that's a disappointment. I thought when we did the Who Remembers ones, we we were much more detective-like in our reasoning. I think this just did feel like uh that's just nonsense. Somebody just didn't get it right.
SPEAKER_00This is why we need more, we need better mysteries. We solved a few years ago.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, if you need to really sort of dig into the the evidence available, that's that's where we will shine.
SPEAKER_00Changel Mutley said, Um, have you solved the lighthouse one yet? Um you can't basically start with new mysteries, willy-nilly. But we did solve that. Yeah, we know. Yeah, we solved that. I don't uh Changel Mutley, you know, have a have a listen to back to the very presentation. But we did solve that. We did solve, we absolutely solve that, um JP. So yeah, you know, I'm not I'm not, you know, again, we're putting other people's remembering skills on a par with us. He can't remember that we've solved it. He's not an expert rememberer. Do you know what I mean? It's not it's not everyone's all be. Can't all be. Yeah, it's like when I don't know, like you know, like when football coaches like the really good football players make bad coaches because they say, just do that. It's a bit like that, innit?
SPEAKER_02And that's why I think you know, when we make occasional mistakes, people think, Why aren't they remembering right? Do you know when you're an expert rememberer, you will make mistakes occasionally?
SPEAKER_00You will make mistakes now and then. Yeah, now and then. Uh Mohammed said, I could listen to weekly episodes of the mysteries. He said he can't get enough of them. He says he loves you, pro uh processing like your own question, going, Could have they been a stowaway? I love that if you do do that. Hold on.
SPEAKER_02Did anyone know there wasn't anyone in the cupboard?
SPEAKER_00It's a bit like a do you like a one more thing, like a Colombo thing? I'd imagine like shaking your finger like you as you're like going, Well, uh, yeah. Uh Tyround said, Look, I'm a stan, but this is one of the best episodes you've ever done, but which I really do appreciate that time round. Are me uh egg. Um I'm gonna call I'm gonna call him no money egg. That's so harsh. I don't I don't mean at all, but yeah, no uh uh egg. Umone egg. Um yeah, he he actually turned off halfway through the mysteries and just said he found it a bit boring. So you know, different different people, different needs. Yeah. Uh Gary said, Great pod, fellas. Um, I reckon um this needs your this is brilliant, this your unique investigation skills. And he sent us a newspaper article to a genuine, I don't know what newspaper it was, but it was a genuine newspaper, mail, telegraph, or whatever. And it was a report saying that Keith Cheguin farted in a cave six years ago and it's still echoing.
SPEAKER_02We we can't condone or condemn that evidence, can we?
SPEAKER_00No, we need to go there. But I mean, I'm not you know, I don't know if Checkers has gone back since. I don't know, but yeah. Yeah, I said it's still echoing. And Nav said, very educational episode, and that's you know, he knows, don't I? He sums up that that Johnny Vaughan thing, innit?
SPEAKER_02A golden bullet straight to the game.
SPEAKER_00I imagine Nav going, oh, I knew they'd get it. Yeah, yeah, educational.
More One-Hit Wonders And Song Debates
SPEAKER_00Anyway, Liam, night just before we start 90s what it wonder, because I'll put this in here. Nick brilliantly uh created as a playlist for the entire all the Nineties Want It Wonders that we did, and we did share that and I've put it into a playlist on uh Who Remembers um if you if you were a bit like on because Ben asked me as well, like, oh, there's a couple of songs here that I don't quite remember. Because even like we were doing it, we didn't remember all the songs.
SPEAKER_02Well I like how you're down playing it by saying Ben asked for uh the playlist. We I mean we had thousands of people asking, didn't we?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, millions to be fair. I mean you you're playing it down now, millions more likely. People like saying, Yeah, where's the play? Where's the playlist? But yeah, cheers for Nick for that.
SPEAKER_02Um but anyway, Liam, go on to the um uh Paul, worthy finalists, but a couple of points to note. My man number five, probably one deeper for me as a cricket fan, being the theme for Channel 4 cricket and the Ashes 2005. Yeah, I mean that totally forgot about that. Fair point, fair point, well made. Uh Dreadzone, Little Britain rightly went out on a group stage, but it was the theme for nationwide football league review that ITV used to put on 2am on a Monday morning. Uh Gabriel Clark, no less, presenting the roundup. I mean, yeah, I I kind of get the Man Man number five vibe. Uh doesn't make a real strong case for uh Dreadzone. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But fair fair points. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Jane, again, I assume it's uh Yeah, she's banging the comments in, and this is not uh don't don't don't feel like we're we're we're criticising you for banging the comments in. We aren't including every comment here, by the way, but all the Jane's comments, if your comments are as good as Jane's, you will get mentioned. That's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_02That's kind of what you aspire to, yeah. If you're looking out your window, you think I'd love to be where Jane is right now. But yeah, I made it to Group D at Pause in outrage at the early dismissal of Turtle Power. Saved only by Leroy, uh outstanding evisceration of sunscreen, the most overrated and irritating track of the decade.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I I mean again I think if we did it again with Webding and he was sort of being a bit more bit more of the Webding that we know and love, who's very quick to crit criticise people. I think he'd have made a much stronger case for total power. He he he let that go very easily, didn't I?
SPEAKER_00Well I'm hoping when we come to the champion of champions, because he'll be involved in that. He um yeah, I hope he he's more of his Roiking self and um yeah, go, you know, sort of makes more of a ferocious case for his favourites.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think he's been polite, but I think um I I think he'll drop that in the in the next recording, and that'll be great to hear. Uh once you calm down, sorry it's Jane again, once you calm down, enjoyed uh once you calm down and listen to the rest of it. I actually agreed with the eventual winner. A night is classic. I feel sad that Splinter's wisdom doesn't get respect. It deserves. I think did she say she can also do the rap? Because weren't that Webding so yeah yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00She says she can. I mean, I'm not doubting Jane, but we can only know that if you send us a voicemail of your rap that we will play. A full, yeah, full clip, full, full song, please. Oh, we could cut it between Webding and Jane. That'd be amazing, like a duet. We're doing a karaoke officer if we were going to chapel sort of lens in a few weeks. I mean, that could feature, that could easily feature if you want to easily feature the audio tonight, yeah. Please, Webding and Jane, sort of, yeah, like a duo. Partners in crime.
SPEAKER_02Please give us some content that isn't us sort of murdering songs, yeah. Please. Uh Julian, smashing pod of the night is lads. Love these pods, so good. Got me thinking, have you done a pod on album books we used to get when we bought CDs? I loved reading a 12-page booklet with lyrics and photos from the studio. Sadly, we don't get we don't get those in the digital age. No, we have yeah. We've we've mentioned that. I the big one for me was Morning Glory Oasis that I remember my brother bought, and that my mate's dad wanted to borrow it to write down all the lyrics and dates and stuff.
SPEAKER_00Well I didn't realise because I had the tapes first because I didn't have a good I didn't have a CD player until after Morning Glory. On the CD versions of both albums, it's Knoll's either Noel's face or the back of Knoll's head. He's not even the singer. I know he's a songwriter, but like why is he like front and centre of like both CDs? Um yeah, I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Ego Adam, very enjoyable this. Looking forward to the 80s one. Music sounds better with you, probably would be my winner. Also, if you need a guess. Uh so this is Mr. Follett. And yeah, we are we are looking into I mean, we are planning on doing in the 2000s. The the only issue we're having is getting enough song there enough one it wonders. Yeah. I mean, uh Adam Follett's featured before we'll uh I know him from years and years ago.
SPEAKER_00Encyclopedia, and well I don't I'm I'm saying that he is a musician, so I'm pretty sure he's got an encyclopedia. Knowledge of music, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but yeah, he'll certainly w whether we end up doing the 2000s World Cup or whatever, we'll we'll certainly get him on for something because yeah, he's uh uh a very entertaining chap and uh a very likable man. So yeah, he'll be on for something in the near future. Uh Dave, great listen. That final was a travesty. It was Argentina v Spain with the wrong outcome. Are you sure it's not Webdong rather than Webding? I expect a better performance from Deadbat. Ooh, shots fired. Is that Dave as in no it's not Dave? Dave Curry. The real Dave Curry. The real Dave Curry. Yeah. Uh are we sure it's not Webdong? No, we're not.
SPEAKER_00Who knows? He's slagging you off, Webding. If you want to if you want to reply, that's up to you. But you know, he's he's slagging him off to the maximum.
SPEAKER_02Not necessarily knowing him as we know him, but on his kind of tough D club performances, I I'm amazed he doesn't call himself Webdong. It seems such an easy innuendo win for the man, yeah. Dead bar, what pressure? Pressure is we we both said we laughed out loud when we saw this comment. What pressure? Pressure is for 99 red luft balloons.
SPEAKER_00I love that. Pressure. Pressure's for 99 red balloons. I thought you got pressure, what pressure? Do you know like the uh pressure?
SPEAKER_02What pressure? Yeah, pressure's for 99 red balance. It's for 99 red luft balloons. I suppose he's right, as usual. You know, he's he's right. He's not he's not he's he's not wrong on this occasion. Uh Megahorse. So thanks, Mega Horse. Um superb listening. I was glad to see seventy four seventy five doing well. Uh think I I'll make my top twenty of ninety one it won as a result of the episode.
SPEAKER_00I've not heard it yet, so if it's please send us that next.
SPEAKER_02Sort of feedback episode, we'll we'll certainly give that um mention to see how similar you are to ours.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Uh last one you just put chimpan, I assume it's chimpanzee.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Just listen to pods or live reaction. I can't work out who you put through in a Mamo number five group. If it wasn't Black Velvet and Divinals, I'll put my foot through my phone and sending you the bill. Yeah, we shit on it, probably.
SPEAKER_00No, you know.
SPEAKER_02We didn't put them through, did we?
SPEAKER_00No, we didn't know.
SPEAKER_02He won't see this, will he? Because he's put his foot, literally put his foot through his face, yeah. That we need to pay for, apparently.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Uh BYW Brand Van or Canadian too. Don't know if they were mates with Snow. Uh weren't Crash Test Dummies a Canadian outfit too? They weren't.
SPEAKER_00No, they we thought they they were a Canadian outfit, but they was I wanted that in it.
unknownMmm.
SPEAKER_00I never liked that.
unknownMmm.
SPEAKER_00No, but it's a classic, what everyone thinks of it wasn't it?
SPEAKER_02Song or something.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Mmm. They were called, yeah. Umce there was this girl. You sing like that, don't I? What are you wearing?
SPEAKER_02And why weren't they permissible?
SPEAKER_00They had another hit. They had unfortunately had another hit. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And this is the thing you might think, well, I can't believe in it of them. Our research is faultless. So other than the fact we missed out, one of the best 80s one. Other than that, things will slip through the net, but you know, we we are absolutely faultless in our research. Um finally an ex-member of the the Lars, the Yeah. The Lars, yeah. Drinking in LA, the Lars lived on our road in Chapel Town until very recent. Very recently, don't ask me his name. Uh, what was his name? Chip Bonnet.
SPEAKER_00Well, there's only two the only two I know, which is Lee Mathers and John Power. I presume it's neither of them. John Power, obviously, front's cast. So I don't think he has to be.
SPEAKER_02You think he means don't ask me his name because he didn't know his name.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think that's it. Unless he is living next door to Lee Mathers, which fairly. Living next door to Mathers. Mathers? Who the fuck is Mathers? Yeah, um but yeah, um good band, the laws. So we we both like the Laws, don't we? As a band. Um yeah, yeah, definitely. Uh I mean to me. We were amazed that that were a one-it-wonder. Like, I mean, Deadbat actually, when we put the what we put it into the group chat about oh, that's in it, he were like, Oh no, they must have had another one. I think you've I think everyone were the same. Just just we would have done that, I think that would have won it.
SPEAKER_03Do you agree?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I agree. Yeah, well, what wait until the champion of champions, Liam, when uh because that's gonna be in it because he got to the final.
SPEAKER_02So we're gonna get overpowered by that because you've got contrary dead part. Webding's gonna be in full flow after he was passive last time. Uh we're not gonna I'm not gonna get anything through.
SPEAKER_00I think you might do. I think I don't know. Webding did I mean behind the curtain, Webding said he put um Mickey through but uh in the 80s when it wonders, which is exactly the point. I don't want that. Yeah, an awful song. But I think you're gonna get Deadbart's pretentiousness, and I'm putting that I'm a pretentious man. Oh, yeah, certainly, yeah. Yeah, oh yeah, and I think but you and Webding, I think you might be the do you know what I mean? I think we we like what we like. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. On the World Cup review, uh so uh uh uh really sorry I didn't get the the name of this. Sorry, I should have put this down. Uh great work as always, but I must say Liam um saying because they'll score a few against me when talking about you going one against 11 versus Spain, it's a particular highlight as if you might finish four or five one. I love that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because I I was speculating I would have more shots on target than Argentina because at least from the kickoff, because I might concede a few, I'd get a kickoff, and at least I might try sort of hit the target once or twice. So I I stand by it, I still think to be fair. Spain passed around that much, it might only be four or five ones. Imagine if it were like competitive, like 2-1 or 3-1 or something.
SPEAKER_00Like they passed that much. I can imagine genuinely like an area. Oh, once again, they made an extra pass Spain.
SPEAKER_02Like Keenan'd still be critical. Do you know though? Like if like the scored and like I didn't get back in time. Well, yeah, but he's trying to play up front and in defence. But that's his job. So we're not on a team, that's his job.
SPEAKER_00What's his name? The fake guy who did a conspiracy Dave Jones, Dave Jones, Sky, saying, Yeah, but come on, Roy, you know, he's on his own.
SPEAKER_01Roy, look, he's trying to play up front and in defence. But that's his role.
SPEAKER_00That's that's what he's here for today. He's playing the club. He's not good back for that. He's run straightforward, and he's not good back to help his defence. He is the defence, he is him. Like he's the only man who can do this. That's his job. That's his job. And we should talk about, just before we go, about the stick that we
The Viral Clipbait Tweet Backlash
SPEAKER_00got. And it's my fault this Liam for the Escobar clear. We don't really get much hate on this um podcast. We see other podcasts get a lot of hate, rightly or wrongly. You know, some people some people may say, yep, they're right to get a stick. We we we generally roll with the punches. Well we did on this one, to be fair. Well, I put it it was a clickbait thing from me, and I said I put earlier.
SPEAKER_02No, I because I mean this sounds like we've set this up so that I could say, well, no, hold on a minute, because you got another viral hit. But I mean it did get, I don't know how many people saw it, uh a couple hundred thousand people saw it, it got hundreds of likes. So it wasn't ridiculous, but I must admit when we talked about it in the thing that I expected this really like shocking moment. And actually, when I was it back, I thought, oh, it's not quite as shocking as uh as you sort of sold it to be.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we were talking about Steve Wilson and uh and Stephen Warnock when it were Portugal uh Columbia, and Steve Wilson, the commentator, were talking about because yes, they're not short, uh they they know a little thing or two or whatever. I I'm paraphrasing here, but they know a thing or two about tragedy. Obviously, Escobar was shot dead um after Columbia lost. Then there's like a pause and it goes to Matt Damon and the crowd, he goes, and Matt Damon is here, and I put this tweet out saying you'll not believe the ending to this.
SPEAKER_02I simply will not believe where this clip is going.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and everyone's like well I think everyone's like this clip to the end. It got more likes than criticism, but we got so many people. Tell them about the guy who put us on his clipbait list, Liam.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah, that was good, yeah. Somebody uh I you might remember the story about the makes, I can't actually think of it too well, but somebody actually create created a list to say people he'd banned from well, he said clickbait wankers or something like that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. He banned he he he blocked us and then said clickbait clickbait ban clickbait sites or whatever, yeah. Clickbait Twitter pages or whatever, yeah.
SPEAKER_02And were we the only one on his list at the time?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02And you followed it last year. So I shared his list from our page because I love the idea that he'd get attention from the only person that he'd like blocked on his wankers list.
SPEAKER_00And I look back um when I were doing this, and he still only got us on his clickbait list. So he's only he's banned one website, uh sorry, one Twitter account. And it's us. And it's us uh for that one and it was clickbait. Yeah, I didn't mean it to be clickbait, but it's very clickbait.
SPEAKER_02That's not that's not the worst case you'll see, is it? No. I remember like I said, I must admit I message you afterwards saying Yeah, you express I don't find this as kind of shocking as you thought it would be. Yeah, but then again, you know, we can only we can only sort of represent what if you find it shocking in the moment. The the Danny Murphy uh his dog got in the back of a post fan, his cat got lost in a post fan, Bob. I think it was. Yeah, yeah. I mean that's gone viral, and that's not a great story.
SPEAKER_00That's no, no, no, no. We've got we've got quite a few followers on that, so it works. All I'm saying is well, I might start we should start a school, how to go viral, uh, by the who remembers.
SPEAKER_01You're very good at the the viral post, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, I think we should like maybe start a school up. I think probably people will probably do you know like when people start patrons.
SPEAKER_01Deadly serious, yeah. I think we should probably start a school up. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think we should, yeah, you're right.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like a Patreon account, like sort of how do you know. Yeah, but if you want to go viral, we know how to do it, yeah. Big time. But um, yeah, Ben said that we've uh we've paid for our um for for the clickbait uh sort of nature of it. But yeah, that is all the comments for now.
Send Questions, Karaoke, And Mysteries
SPEAKER_02And you I mean you've wanted to kind of do that to clear the way because something we will be posting. Uh I mean X is our sort of main feedback platform to one else.
SPEAKER_00I mean, to be fair, we get a few on Blue Skyails as well, but but you get a few emails. Spotify, keep up the comments for that. Comments, yeah.
SPEAKER_02We love your comments and your likes, bash your body parts into the line.
SPEAKER_00Get some Apple reviews in like Green Bay Blade. Yeah, fucking Green Bay, what a guy. But what a what a girl. What a girl. Okay, it could be both or both. Um who knows? All welcome.
SPEAKER_02But but yeah, the but but now, in all seriousness, yeah, you wanted to clear that one out because we are gonna put on our X feed and we're opening it up to email. I'd be amazed if anyone's still listening to this. I know we say that a lot, but this one does feel like if you're still here now, fair play, fair play awards. Um if you've got any questions. Your questions to answer when we're away. That's one thing we're gonna do. Uh, I mean, I suppose it's a it's a copy of the Tufty Club nuts.
SPEAKER_00It's exactly the same as the Tufty Club now.
SPEAKER_02Well, well it is, but then I suppose their thing is just a QA, isn't it? It's not like they don't own the format of asking questions.
SPEAKER_00You know what, you know what Webdings like about his plagarism claims, though. He always thinks people are nicking his ideas.
SPEAKER_02So we have to we have to say it is copyrighted Tufti Club, but we are essentially the same as a nut psych, but that is also essentially the same as any QA that anyone's ever done. So we we welcome any questions. We also welcome any karaoke suggestions. We're not you know, we're not sort of well gonna downplay ourselves as say we're not professionals, we're people have heard it though. So if you send it in.
SPEAKER_00Um any any any things you want us to remember that obviously as professional rememberers, if you can't remember, you think, oh well, oh I sort of remember that. We'll we'll answer that straight off the cuff, won't we?
SPEAKER_02Any anything you'll have a bit half and anything you sort of half remember and we'll we'll sort of tell you what it was and any questions you've got, any karaoke suggestions and yeah, I mean I'd go so far. Mysteries. I don't know if we could sort yeah, we could probably solve them, can't we? Yeah, easily. We can solve your mysteries. But also if you've got any sort of I people don't like to do this as a rule of thing, but if you've got any karaoke clips that you want sort of mixed through the episode.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah, we'll definitely yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we'll we'll distort them and put them make them if if they're better than a lot of people. As long as you're not looking at the time, which like as long as you are in the sort of bottom 20% of singers in the UK, we will include your vocal clips.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but genuinely thank you for all the messages and and you know taking the piss aside, like obviously people who who write an apple and sort we've got we always we keep getting more and more uh listeners and um and the people talking and stuff. So we really do appreciate that. Yeah, yeah, I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_02The trend is good, like everything everything's good. So if if you're listening, if you're telling other people, if you're reviewing, we really appreciate it. And if you're not, even just for listening, we appreciate that. So you know, less welcome, but still welcome.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, still welcome. No, no, not not you know, not seen as our main you know listeners if you don't uh recommend it to other people and stuff like that. But you know, you know, we you still give us a bloody like give us a bloody like give us a give us a four-star on Apple reviews, but yeah, thank you very much for all those um comments, some genuinely fantastic laughing as I was like reading like getting them together and like reading them out and stuff. So thank you very much. It's a community, you know. That's that's us laughing.
SPEAKER_03You can make a professional laugh.
