Welcome back to another episode of Socially Stirred. How is everybody doing? We are in summertime now. Yay! Except it's already 100 degrees. So I don't think anybody's cheering but me. I just love the summer. I can't help it. I cannot help it. But I do think we're in for it this year because last year I don't even think we had, I think we had maybe 10 days over 100, which is crazy for us because usually we have over a month of 100 degrees. But I think we're in for it this year because what yesterday started our 100 degree weather, I believe. So yeah, I don't think we're gonna be lucky, you guys. It's I think we're I think we're in for it. Things gonna be hot, and I don't have a swimming pool anymore, and I'm real sad about that. But I did buy one of those tanning pools, like the little blow-up thing. You put water in it, it's got a little pillow. Yeah, it's not the same. Um, it's it's not the same, not one bit, but it's all right because I have friends that have swimming pools and they're very generous, and they are always like anytime you want. So, um, hey guys, guess what? I'm gonna be coming over. So um that will be fun. And what else? So the end of school year, we got through graduation. Um, it's always a fun time. Graduation, it's so happy, and kids are excited, and you know, they have the whole world in front of them, and then real life smacks them in the face, and they're like, oh, wait, maybe I don't hate high school. Maybe, maybe I should have enjoyed it a little more, but no, it's it's so fun. And um, this coming up year, my son is gonna be a senior, and I I have lots of feelings about that. I I'm excited because I remember being a senior and I remember making plans and doing all this stuff, and so it's it's such an exciting time, but it's also a very like it's very bittersweet for me. I I didn't think it was gonna come this fast. And I no matter how prepared you are, no matter how many people tell you, you know, it flies by, it's you know, you they start high school and then all of a sudden they're gone. That is so true. And I I thought I was ready. I thought I was ready, but I I'm not so um I gotta I gotta get these emotions in check because I literally I could probably cry at the drop of a dime because just thinking about it, just thinking about your kids going out into the real world and all of the opportunities and just all of the things. It's so emotional, it's such an emotional time, it's such a fun time. And so um it was really fun to experience that um with some of our friends' kids, and it's just like I said, it's a fun time, but it's also very bittersweet because it's coming to an end. But I'm I'm really excited. We, you know, we had a we had a baseball season, so we got through all of that. Spring was busy, spring was really, really busy. Um, what else did we do? We oh went to Midland, Texas. That was my first time there. Um, it literally looks just like this area, just like Taft, just like Bakersfield, except it's very, very flat. Um, I had no idea where we were the entire time we were there because there's no reference points. Everything looks the same. You can see for miles and miles and miles. The only way I knew we were close to our family's house was there, they live by a big water tower, which those are crazy. They're huge. I didn't realize how big they were until I actually saw one in real life because I don't think I've ever really seen, like, I don't know. I don't think I've ever seen one. I'm gonna just say I'd never seen one because I didn't I don't think I did, but huge. They are giant. Um, but it was fun every night. We got to sit out on their porch on the grass and watch lightning storms. So that was really fun. I really enjoyed that. The weather was great. I know that they do have crazy weather because I always get Snapchats from family there, and I'm just like, how do you guys live there? That looks insane. Um, so that was cool to see. We we had a great trip. Our flight did get delayed on the way home because, of course, the day we were leaving, it was a huge storm rolling in. And when I say huge storm, it started at like four in the morning, thunder, like really loud, tons of lightning, and it just poured rain. Like, I don't know. I've never seen it rain like that. And so that was crazy. So we're driving to the airport because they're about to close the roads, and so we're like, okay, we'll get there, you know, because our flight, I think, was supposed to leave at like I don't know, 9:30. So we get to the airport and we get through TSA and we're like, okay, you know, they haven't canceled it yet, so we should be good. Yeah, no, they canceled it. And then right after they canceled it, the roads closed. So we couldn't even get picked back up because, well, they couldn't drive. So we got to chill in the airport for a few hours, which wasn't terrible. It was fine. They finally got, you know, got us on our flight, but since they had to delay our flight, our connecting flight got canceled. And so they had to, you know, put us on a different flight, which was fine. We just got home a little later than we wanted to, but you know, it's still travel day. I hate travel days sometimes. I don't mind a travel day going because I'm, you know, you're hyped, you look cute. You're like, yes, we're getting airport drinks, we're gonna have fun. Yeah, I'll pay for the Wi-Fi. Yeah, we'll buy all the snacks because money does not exist when you're on vacation and when you're in an airport. So you're like, yeah, all the things. And then on the way home, you're like, I just want to go home. I don't care what I look like. I don't want to buy that $10 sandwich, I don't want to buy that $7 bottle of water. Meh, it's fine. But you do anyway because you're bored and there's nothing to do. Um, so no, it was it was a really great trip. We got to go see a graduation and spend time with family. And we just had we had a great time. So that was a great start to our summer. Um, it was it was really good. But like I said, Midland, it was crazy. I, like I said, very reminiscent of here. Um, that place is booming, obviously, because most everybody's moving from here to there. Um, and you can definitely tell they are rapidly growing, they're constantly building new things. We did go, oh, okay. So um, Stacy, our our cousin, that's who we went to see her son. She's like, Do you guys want to go to the grocery store? And we're like, Yeah, we'll go, you know, well, let's get some stuff for dinner. And she's like, Yeah, I'll take you to AGB. And we're like, okay, you know, it's just a grocery store. You guys, we need an AGB. Are you kidding me? It was amazing. They have like it's huge. They have a chocolate bar, they have a flower bar, they have a fresh, fresh sushi bar. It was amazing. Like, they have all of this stuff. It was awesome. And it there's tons of people in there. And she's like, this isn't even like the fancy one. They're building, I don't even remember what she called it, an H E B super H E B or something. I don't remember. But what an awesome store. If you guys ever get a chance to go, go and just cruise through it. It's so, it was so great. I I bought grocery store sushi and it was amazing. I loved it. It was so fresh. It was so, so good. So um, that was a fun thing that we got to do. We did go to a few different restaurants. That was they were really, really good. Um, what else did we do? We just hung out and got the tour of the town. There's some beautiful homes back there, you guys. Oh, the brickwork is so gorgeous. Um, I just I mean, if I obviously if I had to live there, there for work, this or that, could I live there? Yes, of course. Would I choose to live there? Probably not, because there's really not that much to do. It there's it's kind of in the middle of nowhere. So that was a little tricky. And like I said, not having mountains or any sort of reference point of where you're at was a little was a little crazy for me. I'm less, I was constantly like, I don't even know where we're at. So I'm just gonna sit in the car and just enjoy my time. So that was that was a lot of fun. I'm glad, I'm glad we got to do that. And so um now, you know, full-fledged summer. I think this is the second week of summer, and you know, just doing all of the things. What's going on in town? Um, oh, so this Saturday, if anybody is still in town, which hopefully most people are, I think right now, because they haven't left for vacations yet. Our little cute self-brewed coffee shop is having their grand reopening, and they also have rebranded and got some new things in there, and it is so cute. Um, they've been posting online and they have some new merch. They're gonna it starts at 11 tomorrow, 11 a.m. tomorrow. They're gonna do a ribbon cutting, they're gonna have lots of local vendors, they're gonna have live music, they're gonna have drink specials. It's going to be so much fun, so much fun. So if you guys are not busy and you're around, come and enjoy it. It's gonna be really, really fun. I'm pretty sure they're gonna block off that whole block so that way people can just cruise around. So bring your kids, get your girlfriends, go down there, try some new things, check out what everybody has to offer, and you know, give their little coffee shop some support because they've been really working hard and you know, posting their videos and giving us all little sneak peeks. So that will be really fun. So remember it's self-brewed coffee shop and tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. So if you guys aren't busy, head down there. I think they'll be there all day to like three o'clock. So, you know, that's enough time. If you got stuff going on in the morning, pop by in the afternoon or vice versa. You know, go go check it out and see, you know, what they've been up to because um, from what I've seen, it looks really, really cute. So I'm super, super excited for them. Um, so I've been at my new salon for about two and a half months now, and you guys, I couldn't be happier. I really, really couldn't be happier. I it's been so wonderful. I didn't realize how much I missed being around other people. Like, I don't get me wrong, did I love my salon? Yes, I it was perfect. I loved it just being me. I loved being in charge, I loved all the things, but you know, life changes constantly, and that chapter in my life is over, and this is exactly what I needed. I just feel so inspired. I because honestly, I was getting to where I just didn't even want to go to work. I I didn't want to do hair anymore. I was uninspired. I just I just didn't like what was going on. I don't even know. I don't even have an explanation. I just it just wasn't doing it for me anymore. And I hated that because I love doing hair. I love talking to people. I have the best clients. They have been so supportive. Most of my clients I've had my entire career. So 22 years, these, you know, my clients have been with me, and I felt so guilty being so unhappy. And I was just like, why, why? What's wrong with me? Like, why, you know, do I need to do I need to go take some other classes? Do I need to, you know, bring someone else into my salon? Do I what do I need to do to make myself happy, to make me not not be so uninspired? And so I I struggled with that for a little bit. And, you know, Shacy gave me a call and offered me a spot at her place, and it just and I took it. And you know what? I have no regrets, and it's been wonderful. Um, Alicia has her shop next door. That's been great. I didn't realize how much I missed her. She's so funny. Uh we, you know, our kids are the same age. Her husband, you know, helps out with the football team. They just bought um Pizza Factory and Taft. Yeah, Pizza Factory. Oh my god, that's one of my favorite places. I probably eat there. I I don't even want to admit how many times a week I eat there, but I just love it. And I'm just, I'm so happy for them. And it's just been, it's been so great to have that salon family again. And I just, it has really done wonders for me, for myself. It has helped me so much. I just, I'm so much happier. I love going to work. I love seeing my clients. I love seeing all of their clients. It's just been, like I said, I just don't have anything bad to say. I I don't even want to say I wish it happened sooner because I think it just happened at the right time. And I'm just going with it. And like I said, it's just been, it's just been really great. And the feedback has been wonderful. All of my clients are like, this place is so cute. We love the vibe. You seem so much happier. They love seeing Chase again. They, you know, it's just been, it's just a really great spot. We have a little outside area where we can sit in the shade. We have a table and it's grassy. Um, it's nice and cool. That corner that we are on is popping. You guys, I, you know me, I'm a little bit nosy and I love to know what's going on. The action on that street corner is awesome. It there's so much traffic. People are driving by all day long. People are waving, people are honking, people stop by. I just I'm in heaven. I honestly, like it's just like being brought, you know. I always joked that I would love to have a salon on Kern Street, like a second-story salon with a big patio so I could sit outside and see everybody. Well, this is honestly my center or my Kern Street. This, it's so, it's so, so perfect. So that um, I've really, really been enjoying that. And also, you know, not having the burden of having all of those salon bills will give me the opportunity to be off a little bit more to enjoy my son's senior year, to, you know, not have to worry about, you know, oh, I gotta make sure I work for this or have this. I'll I'll be able to, you know, maneuver some things around a little bit. So I'm super thankful for that. I just, I don't have, I have so much good stuff to say about that. And I just, I'm so happy. And um if you guys, you know, want to ever stop in, pop by, come say hi, come check it out. It it's really cute. Like I said, Shacy did an amazing job decorating it. It's so cute. We just it's so, it's so crazy how we just, you know, we haven't worked together in it's been a long time, probably um at least 12 years, I think. I don't know exactly, but it's like we never left each other. Like it, we just we vibe so well together. We work really, it's just been great. So, you know, stop by and say hi. Come check it out. We would love to see you. You know, like I said, it's been great seeing her clients. Um, they have been so welcoming, and my clients have been super happy to see other people too. So it's just been that's that's been a really highlight of the last few months for me. And I'm really, really happy um that it's been going so great. So that is kind of only the only thing I've really been up to, just working and you know, sports and you know, just starting summer. I don't think we have any vacations planned in stone yet. I know we always love to try to go mountain biking in Mammoth. Um, we used to, well, I didn't go, but Robert and the guys, they had started going mountain biking at Mountain High up by Palmdale, but they are not opening this year because they had oh gosh, they had tons of stuff happen. There was a big fire over there, they had some flooding, and so it kind of washed out all the progress they had made in the last couple years. So they made the decision to close for this mountain bike season and get everything ready, revamp things, get new um trails and stuff. So I'm really excited for that to open up next summer because that's a really fun thing. The guys would go on for like the day. You know, that's a good day trip. You leave in the morning, go, you're back by like five or six. It was it was really good. So they really enjoyed that. So I'm really hoping that we are able to go at least to Mammoth once or twice this summer. But I don't know because you know, it's football season. So back at Christopher's back in the gym, you know, back in practice every day. So that that will be fun. So that's that's taking up some of his time right now, but I'm sure we'll hopefully, you know, make it to the beach once or twice. And, you know, I honestly I'm just happy to just hang out this summer because I want to soak up as much time and all the time I have with him because I don't know what he's gonna do after next year. I know he wants to go play, you know, sports somewhere, whether it's football or baseball, and you know, he wants to go somewhere, which I obviously will encourage him to go wherever he wants to go. I'll support it fully, but a part of me is like, don't you just want to live at home forever? But I know that's not possible. And, you know, I want him to spread his wings and go enjoy life in college, because I had such a fun time in college. So I don't I don't want to hinder him, but at the same time, selfishly, I'm just like, can't you just stay? And he's like, No, I'm going as far away as possible. And I'm like, Oh, really? Because wherever you go, I'm buying a condo there and we're gonna come visit all the time. So hopefully we'll see. We'll see if Robert lets me. But anyway, so let's see what okay, shows this. Okay, so have you guys seen, seen, saw, have you watched? Let's go that route. Have you guys watched the crash on Netflix? So if you have, you know what I'm talking about. The footage they have was insane. The opening scenes of that show was horrific. It was oh it my stomach dropped. I had already listened to a podcast about that. So I already kind of knew most of the story, but seeing it instead of listening, it listening to it is a lot different. And it's just oh, it was so sad. And it just it kind of hits home because you know, my son drives, all his friends drive, and I just it's so sad and crazy how things can happen in a split second. You know, decisions are made, accidents happen. It that it just like I said, it made my stomach drop. And I I don't know if she did it on purpose. I don't know if it was an accident. They have there's a lot of evidence, you know, saying, well, you know, there's there was no break, there's no skid marks, there was no breaking. They have, you know, the black box from the car, it was gas pedal all the way down the whole entire time. And so it's hard to argue that it was an accident. You know, she's claiming it's an accident, her parents are claiming it's an accident. You want to believe it's an accident, but when you watch this program and you see the evidence and you listen to the investigators and you listen to the friends, oh, it's just it's heartbreaking. And you don't want to think that somebody would do that on purpose, but like I said, the evidence doesn't lie. And so if you haven't seen, if you haven't watched it, give it a watch. It's really good. Like I said, it kind of when you have teenage drivers, it kind of hits home a little bit and it makes you very, oh, you know, like I said, my stomach drops. So that was a good one that I just finished watching. Um, okay, this next one, you guys are gonna come for me. I'm sure I but just just I just want to tell you a disclaimer, I'm trying to get into the show. Okay, that's all I'm gonna say. I'm really, really trying, and I'm gonna watch it through because it is popular and everybody loves it, but I don't love it. So before I tell you, you'll probably guess, Love Island. Okay, I know, I know, I know, I know. I don't know why I don't like it. It is so cringy, you guys, and I don't know if it's my age, and I hate to say that because I am not that person. Um I just it's weird. And I don't, is that what dating is like right now? Because I haven't dated in 20 something years. I have been married, and so dating when I was younger was not like this. And I know things change, and you know, technology and this and that, but this can't be it, right? You this I don't know, it's just cringy, and like I said, I'm trying to watch. It. I'm really trying to get into it, but I just, I just can't. I don't know. I think I've watched four episodes and I need to watch more of it. I know, I know, but I don't know. So don't hate me if I hate it, okay? That's all I'm saying. Don't judge me too hard, okay? Um, another one, okay. Um, euphoria. So disappointed. Oh, I'm so disappointed, and I know a lot of you guys are. So the first season was the most intense, crazy, wild, shocking uh season I have ever seen on any show in my entire life. I I watched it late too. Like, I didn't even watch it when it first came out because I was just like, I don't care about a Teeny Popper show. Like, that's what I kind of thought it was. And so my bestie Sharon was like, you have to watch this. And I was like, okay, I'll watch it. The first episode, I you guys, I wish I would have recorded it. I just I couldn't stop watching. My jaw was on the floor, and I was just like, this show is crazy. So if you know, you know. So that whole first season was just wild. It was so good. There was so much happening, and it's very intense, and it's just a lot. The second season was really good as well. It was just a little darker. There were, they dealt with a lot more, you know, substance abuse, mental health, um, that kind of thing, which was good because I think those that's what that's real life right now for a lot of people, those kinds of things. And so it was good to see that in a different light and to actually see things happening. And so I really enjoyed that season too. But like I said, it was a little dark. Um, the first season I really liked, it was just crazy, but I love crazy TV. And so the second season was great. So I was like, all right, third season. Well, some things happened, some cat a cast member passed away. I think there was some dispute, disputes within the the rest of the cast, and also, you know, the people on the show, they're they're stars now. They are everywhere, and so I think, you know, they started getting other, you know, jobs and movies and commercials and you know, being out there more. So that kind of held up the third season, and so the third season premiered, I think, in April, I believe. April, yeah, I'm pretty sure April. It sucked, it was terrible. I I had such high hopes, and I kept waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting for it to get better. And it did not, it did not deliver, it was terrible, it was awful, but I still had to watch it because you have to finish it, and I just I don't know. I just what was going on? The storyline sucked, the music sucked, the acting was terrible. I I just I don't understand. I really don't they miss the mark completely unless unless the opposite, unless we miss the mark and we just don't understand it. But I don't think that's the case because literally every single person that I talk to about it, they're like, it was terrible. And I'm like, okay, so I'm you know, I'm it's not just me that thinks it's terrible. Everybody thinks it's terrible. So there was that. Um, what else? Oh, my new favorite, you guys, uh Rhode Island Housewives. Love it, love it, hands down, my favorite. Well, I can't say that because it's only the first season, and I love me a first season housewife franchise. Like every first season of Housewives always hit, and this one is amazing. I and I can honestly say that I absolutely love every single cast member. All of them. They are all fabulous. They look good, they're funny, they're crazy, they are, they talk smack. I just, I absolutely love it. Um, who would I say my favorite? It's it's between Liz and Alicia, which I just love, but like I said, I love all of them. But Alicia is hilarious. She's always like, I need my crackers. It's you guys have to watch it. You won't be disappointed. They're so funny. Um, and like I said, they're all gorgeous. They're all, they're all really gorgeous and they're funny, and it's just it's just good. I I am really, really, really enjoying this season. So if you have never watched any of the housewives, I would probably I don't know what I'd watch first. I mean, you could watch the Rhode Island right now and just be completely happy because it just ended, which I still have two episodes I need to finish because the reunion is gonna be next week or the week after. And oh, it looks amazing because so usually first season housewives, they say whatever they want. Whatever comes out of their mouth, they don't filter it, they don't care. They're they're straight to the point, they're catty, they're shit talking. It's amazing. That's part of the reason why I like it. And so they don't know how the editing goes, they don't know, you know, all of that stuff that when you're on it for a long time, you pick up on, and you can tell, you know, other seasons of other franchises, they're they're a little more tight-lipped sometimes and they're they're real, they know what they're saying. And so when it's a first season, they don't know all of that yet. Regardless if they watched the show, you know, other shows before, they're still very, very unfiltered, and that is what makes it so good. So I would say start with Rhode Island. Um, Salt Lake City is probably my number two spot because that one is just amazing. And there's not as many seasons. I think there's five in Salt Lake City. So those are probably two good ones to start with. I mean, OC is amazing, but there's um, I think this is their 20th season coming out soon. So that's a lot. Um, Beverly Hills is really good. There was a time period where I skipped some seasons in Beverly Hills and and Orange County too, just because I was like, eh, not really into it. But you kind of, if you watch the first few seasons, and then if you're like, eh, I'm bored, you can kind of skip around. But the last few seasons of all of them have been really, really good. So I would suggest if you guys need anything to watch the summer when you're on the treadmill, that's where I catch up on a lot of my stuff. Like, um, I do walk outside, which I did walk today, my little two and a half mile loop before it got roasting hot and it was warm. But um, I do, I would like I do walk outside as much as possible, but there are times when it's blazing ass hot and you just can't do that or you'll just fry. So I will get on the treadmill and catch up on my show. So that's kind of where when I catch up on a lot of these. So those are good ones to, you know, pass the time because we all know a treadmill minute is an hour and it sucks. So whatever you can do to make it go by faster. So I would suggest start one of those housewives, and you will not be disappointed. It's really real, they're really, really good. Um, I do want to watch Summer House though, because there's a lot of that up on social media right now. The Amanda Patula and West and Sierra, and there's a lot of chatter about that and a lot of backstabbing. And I I was never into that show, but I kind of think I need to be now. So I'm probably gonna start that um just to kind of to pick up on that because they have a new spin-off from that called In the City. So that looks really interesting. So I'll probably that'll probably be on my summer watch list, um, you know, to pass the time on the treadmill. So that would probably be, you know, really good to check out. Um, what else, you guys? What have what else? What else? What else? Um wow, I think I kind of went through all of everything I wanted to talk about today. Um, also, what did I want to touch on? Oh, I had a big week for my podcast. I got a lot of new listeners, I got a lot of new downloads. Um, so thank you guys so much. You know, I really appreciate the the sharing, the likes, the talking about it. It really, really means so much to me and I appreciate it so much. It's it's so fun to have this platform, and I am really excited to, you know, see where it takes me. I'm coming up on a year. Um, that's crazy. I can't even believe it. So that's really fun. Um, I should probably have a party, huh? Should I have a party? What should I do? A party, a giveaway? Um, oh, speaking of giveaways, so merch. Okay, I know I've been socking and I I want merch so bad. I I know what I want, I can see it in my head. I I know exactly, but I just don't know exactly how to do that. So um, if anybody has some tips, can help me design, I would really, really appreciate it. Um, I am gonna meet with somebody on Sunday to kind of start getting the ball going. I will probably start out with, you know me, I love a hat. So I'll do some cute hats and some t-shirts. I know it's, you know, gonna be a hundred degrees plus right now, but I'll probably um have a couple different sweatshirts or maybe just one for right now. Um so if there's anything else you guys think that would be fun to have, you know, let me know. Shoot me a DM and, you know, let's let's get some things going. I do, I, I had talked before about having some candles made. Um, so I'll talk to my candle girl and see about that because I think that would be so fun too. But I I do need to get on the merch. It's I haven't forgotten about it. I just I didn't anticipate being so busy this spring. I it was a lot busier than I imagined. So, which I'm sure this next spring will be even busier having a senior. So I'm gonna try to, you know, get on the ball sooner and kind of get ahead in life. So, you know, we'll see if that happens. You know, I'm trying. I am trying. So, um, but yes, thank you to all my new listeners. I hope you guys are enjoying this. Like I said, this is really fun. Um, I I'm so thankful. I can't wait to have more people on. I have been talking to quite a few different people this week. Um, so I do have some surprise guests coming on soon. And yeah, it's just gonna be a lot of fun. And so again, thank you so much. So don't forget to like and share and download and tell your friends, tell your family, tell everybody. You know, socially stirred is here and we're just getting started. So um, yes, so you guys have a great rest of your day. I am so thankful for all of you, and you know, let's just keep it going, and I'm so excited for the you know, for the rest of this year and summer, and let's just you know see where it takes us. So you guys have a great time, and just remember keep getting us good.
