You're listening to the Visible Ish podcast for the bold, confident ish, but ready to show up business owners that are ready to do visibility on their terms. Let's go. I'm Melissa Howard the host of the Visible ish podcast. This podcast is what I wish I had when I started out my business and probably my career all those years ago. This is all around showing you that you can show up as yourself, not perfect but completely powerful, and that people will accept you, and people will love you, and people will value what you have to say. So the truth that I've learned over the years as being a management consultant within the NHS and then pivoting out into being a solopreneur but a multi passionate solopreneur on years of being a photographer, a videographer, a a business coach, a launch coach, a life coach, everything in between. I have suffered and still suffer with my own visibility challenges. This is not a linear process. It is a journey. One phrase I absolutely love is a new level, new devil. Whenever you get to a new level within your business or within your visibility journey you can't just stay still because if you stay still as Tony Robbins says, you're dead. Being seen does not need to be a performance, and this is coming from somebody who has pretty much performed for most of our life. My underlying story that I've only just come to learn and understand and accept in the past sort of year or so is that I have been masking for a long time because I never quite fit in. I was always too much or I wasn't enough. I was somewhere in between, and that is exactly who this podcast is for. The people who don't know how to show up and show the real them in person or online. It doesn't require you to be someone else. It does not require you to contort yourself to be some perfect persona because guess what? We're not perfect, but that is what makes us so freaking special. So I know exactly what it's like to feel invisible both in life and in business. But although this is a business podcast, what I teach you is either from my own experience or what I've learned along the way, it will help you in your personal life. It will help you in relationships. It will help you in how you show up day to day. Because what I really want to drill home and hopefully get you seeing is that the online version of you, the offline version of you, the business version of you, and the personable, weird person who sits in their pyjamas most of the day version of you are all completely acceptable. Your personality of being too much or not enough is absolutely acceptable. It is good enough. And the message that you have to share, what you need to give out to the world needs to be heard. So the more that you are shying away, you're shrinking, you're putting yourself into a box is an actual disservice to not only you, but the people who you are trying to serve, the people you are trying to help. I've been a business owner creating content that never gets posted. I literally do this as a day job, and I still overthink. I still create videos that take so long to edit, and they never get posted. This is when I'm not in complete alignment with who I am and what I'm doing. And this is the whole reason why I wanna share this with you is although, you know, I may come across as this confident person online that always shows up and is really natural in front of the camera, I have got hours of bloopers. I have got so many things that have never been posted, so many things that have never seen the light of day because I've second guessed myself. I've overthought specific details. You know, I didn't wanna be judged. I didn't wanna be trolled. But I'm gonna get judged regardless of whether I show up or not, and I'm gonna get trolled regardless of whether I show up as the person I am or the person that people want me to be. So I might as well just do what I want. I've experienced the feast and the famine that comes with marketing, that comes with being online, that comes with meeting people in person, going to networking, going to events. I've been that person that sits at the back of the auditorium, the events that doesn't make eye contact, that doesn't speak to people. And that really surprises people because they say, oh my god. You're so confident. You're so loud. But I'm actually not. I am an ambivert by nature, which is a mixture of extrovert and introvert. It very much depends on the day, the type of month, how I'm feeling that day. And I've learned that visibility doesn't need to be all things all the time. It doesn't need to be perfect all the time. It can go through peaks and troughs just like you do, just as you do in life. And the key thing about this is being real with it and showing the real side of it as well and knowing that it's okay to not be everywhere all the time. And I'm giving you permission to not be everywhere all the time, to do things that work for you right now. Now I'm not the type of person that says you have to go live, you have to do video, you have to do, have to do. It would be great if you did but if you're not feeling it people are going to feel that. And this isn't about not taking risks. This is not about, you know, I don't want you to step out of your comfort zone. Everything that you do is an act of courage. Everything that you do is an act of courage. And if I can help you move the dial slightly so that it feels a bit sticky, it feels a bit stretchy, that's great. Because when that happens, you know that you're building. You're building a muscle. You're building a scale. You're building experience, and then it doesn't quite feel as hard next time. So this podcast is for business owners owners who feel uncomfortable being the face of their business. They struggle with inconsistent marketing. They overthink content, rarely hit publish. They feel overwhelmed by the constant changes that are on the platforms. One minute you've gotta do dancing. One minute you've gotta do reels. Next minute it's b roll. Next minute it's a whole different language. The algorithm is tricking us. It might be that you're managing ADHD, neurodivergence, fluctuating energy levels, some other difference that makes you feel like you cannot be yourself, that people don't wanna see or hear from the real you. And business owners that want to show up on their own terms. We are gonna blow up all of the traditional visibility advice. No cookie cutter strategies. No more feeling like you have to be somewhere where you don't wanna be. And instead, we'll focus on the stuff that you can do, not what you think you should do or must do. So this is practical. It's gonna be actionable visibility mindset shifts to help you move the dial, to help you show up easier, the technical skills to create that content and make it feel more true to you, and ways to build your visibility that works with your energy and with the peaks and troughs of your business, not against it. Each of these episodes is gonna be a mixture of real talk, insight, strategies that you can implement immediately. And I am not gonna hold back from sharing with you my own challenges that I experience day in and day out. I am not immune to it, but I do have a process of dealing with those thoughts and choosing what to ignore and what to run with. And that's what I wanna share with you. This is not all or nothing. This is helping you to find your voice, to get visible in a way that suits you, not the masses, to inevitably grow your business and your impact. We'll dive through everything from content creation, to body acceptance, to how you show up offline, how you show up to how you show up online, ADHD friendly ways to make this accessible for you. And my promise to you, my absolute promise to you is that this is a judgment free zone. I've been in those groups and in those worlds where they celebrate perfection, where they celebrate doing the do and hitting submit, but sometimes the winds come from not showing up and coming from a place of alignment for you, showing that just posting for the sake of posting actually is doing nobody any good. We celebrate progress over perfection. We understand that visible is a practice. It's not a destination, and it's not a personality trait. Your uniqueness is not a weakness. It is a strength. And that is exactly what I am here to do is help you see that, your ultimate superpower, and bring it to the forefront. So if you are tired of feeling stuck and if you are ready to show up in a way that feels genuinely you, this podcast is your new home. We're not about forcing yourself into boxes, conform into what other people think you need to be. This is about finding a way that works for you, your business, and your life. So I will ask you a question. Are you ready to become visible ish? Oh, I can hear you screaming. Fantastic.
