Why LipidCurious Exists

Let me ask you something:

Have you ever stared at a lipid panel and thought, “Okay… now what?”
LDL-C is “at goal,” yet the patient ends up back in the cath lab.
Triglycerides are high — maybe it’s diet… or maybe it’s the first whisper of insulin resistance.

The truth is, many of us were taught to check lipids — not to truly make sense of what those numbers mean.

Even when lipids are covered in our curriculum, the focus is often on what to prescribe, not how to interpret the panel as a whole.

Amid the blur of targets and shifting guidelines, real cardiovascular risk often hides in plain sight.

Welcome to LipidCurious — a podcast that helps you go beyond the numbers to manage cardiovascular risk with more clarity, and a lot less guesswork.

My Journey Into Lipidology

So how did I end up here, hosting a podcast about lipids? Let me back up and share a bit of my story.

I’m Dr. Vishnu Priya Pulipati — Endocrinologist, Lipidologist, and yes, one of those rare people who genuinely loves lipids.

Back in training, lipids felt like background noise — just another checkbox in the diabetes or thyroid visit. But during my preventive cardiology fellowship, things shifted. Lipid fractions stopped being just numbers — they became clinical clues: signs of inflammation, metabolic dysfunction, even genetic risk.

And once I started seeing that bigger picture, I couldn’t unsee how often we overlook it.

Honestly, that’s what pushed me to start this podcast. I figured — if I had to learn this the hard way, maybe I could make it easier for someone else.

So here we are.

What This Podcast Will (and Won’t) Teach You

This show isn’t about memorizing targets — or turning you into a lipidologist.
It’s about recognizing the story behind the lipid panel — and using that insight to treat risk with purpose.
It’s here to empower you to think differently — to become the kind of clinician who knows what matters, filters out what doesn’t, and acts with clarity.

Whether you’re a resident, a seasoned clinician, or somewhere in between — if you’ve ever wanted to actually understand lipids, you’re in the right place.
Here’s what’s in store.

Season 1: What’s Ahead

Season 1 has 10 episodes and is all about building the foundation.
We’ll walk through the lipid family tree, fatty acids, triglycerides, cholesterol, lipoproteins, and more — one core concept at a time.

Not with buzzwords — but with practical, clinically useful insight.
The kind that helps you notice patterns sooner, make better decisions, and ultimately, practice with more clarity and confidence.

Episodes drop every other Friday and run about 10 to 15 minutes — short enough to fit your day, dense enough to be worth it.

This season is structured to build logically, so if you’re just joining, I’d recommend starting with Episode 1.

A quick disclaimer:
This podcast is for educational purposes only.
It reflects my clinical experience and perspective, but it’s not medical advice.
Always treat patients in context and consult guidelines or specialists as needed.

That said, I’m truly glad you’re here — because taking time to understand lipids more deeply is a step that matters.
