SPEAKER_00Taken from a class I taught at the end of twenty twenty five, where we explored the major transits of twenty twenty six, particularly the slow moving planets and how they shape the broader emotional and collective landscape of the year. So what you're about to hear is a live class slightly adapted for the podcast. I hope it gives you some helpful context for the year ahead. Enjoy. So we'll start with a short introduction and then we'll discuss the three main transits of this year, which are Jupiter, Saturn, and Rahu Ketu, which I've kind of put into one, and how these might influence our consciousness and you know collective and individual consciousness over the coming year. So let's start by talking a little bit about what the transits are. So you have your own natal chart, which is your birth chart. So that's a snapshot of the karma that you were born with in this lifetime. And then we have transits, which is about where the planets are now in the sky relative to your birth chart, and just also collectively, where are they in the sky? So today we're going to be talking about the general collective atmosphere, not how they interact with individual birth charts, because that would take a long time. So we're just going to be talking about what's the kind of general energy of the planets at the moment and how that might be influencing us. So the planets reveal seasons of growth. So there are appropriate times for appropriate activities. We don't plant seeds in the winter and we don't harvest crops in the spring. And similarly, the planets reveal cycles of time and they show us which areas of life might be more expansive right now, which might be more contractive, and so it gives us an idea of what we can do and how we can, what our attitude can be in the coming months and years. So we don't need necessarily to know about the laws of the universe in order for them to operate on us. But it's helpful. We've had a lot of global stuff going on, trouble, and people are tired of social structures, there's a lot of political division, and I think people are also generally kind of mentally overstimulated. So in this class, I just wanted to kind of calm the nervous system a little bit and relax into the year ahead with a few simple practices and tools that we can use for more joy and peace in the year ahead. So hopefully you leave here feeling a little calmer and clearer. Okay, so let's dive in to the first transit, which is Jupiter in Gemini. So Jupiter, as many of you know, is the Guru planet. You can see him also as the inner Guru, or also your connection with the Guru. And Jupiter's placed in Gemini, which is a sign that's all about information and communication and data. So it's a bit like taking the guru and putting him in the university, in a university environment, and this happens in the autobiography of a yogi. Yogananda has to go and study to get a BA degree because his guru says it will help him in when he moves to America. But as you can imagine, Yogananda doesn't get along so well in the university. Um teachers make fun of him and they say that he's overdrunk with religion. His classmates say that they they call him the mad monk, and he just about manages to pass, you know, he just about manages to get through the the studies. Um but so this is so what happens when we take the guru and place him in a world of knowledge and information, not scriptural wisdom. So here we are with Jupiter in Gemini, and right now this is the energy, there is access to endless information, we have an ocean of knowledge at our fingertips, we can find all of the latest information within seconds, which is very powerful to be able to find the solutions. You know, we have AI and all this now, so there's so much information available to us, but we have to be a little careful because overusing this technology and information can kind of disconnect you from the true source of wisdom, which is your uh intuition. And here's the important thing is that Yogananda wants to just be with his guru, he goes to a few of the classes, um, but most of the time he just wants to spend with Sri Yukeshwar. So he cycles past his guru's house on the way to a university with flowers as an offering to the Guru, and he kind of hopes that Sri Yukteshwar will just kind of invite him in and so he can kind of uh flunk off school. Uh and of course, Sri Yukteshwa allows it, allows him to do it because he knows that that young Mukunda Yogananda is better off there with him rather than being at the university, which ultimately is just like a formality, so he can get the degree and kind of appease his father as well. So, what does this mean for us? Well, it means that we can we can go there to the world of Gemini, right? Be curious, ask those questions and get the earthly knowledge and the solutions that you that you need, but remember to stay always at the feet of your guru if you have one, which I know most of us here do. Everyone has access to AI now with open AI and and Google and so on. But how many people have a sat guru who knows all things past, present, and future, right? And so the important thing is in this in this first half of the year up until June to just remember that and to protect your spiritual practice, your meditation, which is the uh the best remedy for uh excessive thinking and uh information overload, and to remember to to ask your guru, your your or your higher power, whatever that means, you know, to you, for solutions. Because AI is a wonderful tool, but it's it's no match for the for the guru's wisdom. So after June, Jupiter then moves into Cancer, where he's very happy, he's known as exalted in Cancer, it's his favorite sign, and so this is like the guru being at home, your inner guru, and so it reminds me a little bit of Lahiri Mahashaya, just being at home and meditating there with his disciples at his feet, very intimate, very comforting. Um, and so that the feeling there is that after June, all that scattered knowledge and information becomes more like internalized and integrated, and the inner guidance will feel deeper after June, like a more quiet wisdom-guided trust in your own inner guidance. So there's more of a feeling of being more connected to that inner world. So, just to summarize that Jupiter section, really, the first six months feel a little blocked by information and sensory overload, which is why it's really helpful to protect your spiritual practice, uh, connect with Guru, and then after June, the in Cancer, the inner connection with the Guru is is more like uh intimate and flows more easily. Okay, so that brings us swiftly to uh Saturn's transit. We've covered Jupiter, and I'm just trying to kind of boil these transits down into a helpful teaching. You know, Jupiter and Gemini, you could say like lots of different things, but to try and uh find something in within that which is kind of condensed down, which we can use in our in our uh daily life and practice. So for Saturn in Pisces, he's gonna be there all year from literally you know the whole time, he'll he'll move backwards and forwards a little, but for the whole of 2026, he'll be in Pisces. So, to get an idea of this, I want you to just imagine a spiritual community, and this community has open doors, anyone can come in. There's no rules, no boundaries, people can eat what they want, smoke what they want, drink what they want, do what they want, praise whoever they want. And so, how would people feel in that kind of community? That they, for the most part, would be quite uncomfortable, and Pisces can be a little bit like this sometimes. Pisces can be a little boundaryless, it can be a little chaotic, and that's especially the case at the moment because up until the spring of this year, Rahu was in Pisces, and so he can cause some sort of chaotic feelings. So, wherever Pisces is in your chart, let's say, that area of life could feel a little unstructured, maybe it's finances or your daily routine, your spiritual practice, uh, whatever. So, when Saturn comes in there to that area of life, or he comes into this community, let's say, he sees what's going on, and he says, What is going on here? And he installs some doors, he gives some rules, some a schedule, some structure. Right, that's kind of that's Saturn's job right now to create some boundaries and structure where that has been lacking. I'll tell you a personal story because I think it will help to to illustrate this point. So for me, Pisces is my fifth house, which is about children. So when Rahu was going through there up until the spring, we were unschooling our children, which is a way of, and we still are, uh, educating our children outside of mainstream education, giving them freedom, giving them choices, and helping them to develop their own autonomy. That was Rahu, and that was great, that was fine. But then when Saturn came along, I started to get this feeling, and my wife was the same, that it was maybe a little too chaotic, and that there were that we needed a bit more structure, essentially. Um, and so Saturn comes along, he looks around and he finds what is not working, and then you get this sense that something needs to change and you need to uh impose some kind of restrictions or um structure, and so that's what we did. We started adding some routine, encouraging self-discipline, giving them some small academic tasks, and just focusing a bit on consistency as well. So without even looking at your chart, you can just reflect on are there any areas of my life that would benefit from more structure or discipline? Because in this coming year, Saturn supports that. So you know, you can think about that now if you want, we won't take time for it, but you could write down something, an area of your life if you wanted to, where you feel that some more gentle structure or discipline would be helpful. Now, one other aspect of Pisces that I'll just mention is that it's a sign of deep feeling because of this boundarylessness, we can kind of absorb other people's feelings and energy, so it's like a sensitive sign. It's important to like protect yourself, you can do om tatsat and whatever you do to protect your energy field, but the lower response to Pisces' energy is to kind of distract ourselves from our feelings, whether that is watching TV or overeating, escapism, and at the at the worst, extreme, alcohol and drugs as well. But the higher response to Pisces is to feel what we feel and to accept the emotional reality that we're dealing with, even when that's hard. Because when Saturn is in Pisces, if we try to avoid our feelings or distract ourselves, numb ourselves, then he's gonna make us more aware and he's gonna bring like a greater sense of discomfort, so it becomes more difficult to hide from your feelings when Saturn is in Pisces. So, really, he's just asking us to take responsibility for how we feel. So, if we're overwhelmed a little by personal difficulties or global ethical dilemmas, the question becomes how do we respond to that? Is our tendency to distract ourselves? Is our tendency to become emotionally reactive and hostile towards others, or are we able to slow down and to to feel what is asking what needs to be felt? Saturn he's not asking us to care less or to feel less, but just to hold those feelings with with more non-attachment and calmness. So that brings us to our last transit, which is Rahu and Ketu, who are moving through Aquarius and Leo this year. So you can think of Leo as your uh the king in your kingdom like the king sitting on his throne. Leo is connected to the spiritual eye, and so it's associated with your with your authority and your identity and confidence. Whereas Aquarius is connected with the group, the community, uh, the collective, other people. So to illustrate this, let's imagine a wise king who's sitting on his throne and he realizes that he doesn't have all of the answers to the problems that are coming up in his kingdom. So this is a sensible move that he creates a council for advice instead of him having to make all the decisions, he can now ask the council to guide him, and it works well for a while, they collaborate together, they make some good decisions, but because this is Rahu and Ketu, and For those of you who don't know, Rahu and Ketu are shadows, they're not real physical bodies, they're points where eclipses occur. And so wherever Rahu and Ketu appear, there is like an imbalance. Okay, so the king starts to lose confidence in himself. He allows the council to make most of the decisions, and he stops trusting his own authority, and essentially he's no longer leading. So this is what happens when we're pulled too much into Aquarius, too much into the group. Then he goes to the other extreme. Rahu and Keitu always work in this like back and forth between extremes. You go into one, then you overcompensate by going too far into the other one. And so the king starts to get annoyed with the council, he ignores their decisions, he dismisses them, he says, I'll do it alone, and so then he begins to rule alone from pride and insecurity. And this is what happens when we go too far to the other extreme, which is going too far into Leo. So the healthy expression of this, which is hopefully what we can move towards, is getting that balance right between listening to the council and not giving up our own authority. Okay, so ultimately the king wants to make the final decision, but rooted in his own authority, guided by the wisdom of the group, but he makes that final decision. So this year, that energy is coming up for us. For some people more than others, remember because it depends on the axis. If this is like in your first and seventh house, this will be very prominent, but it depends on your chart as well. But for a lot of people, there may be this tension between our own authority and the authority of the group of people, the collective. So maybe we lose our voice in the group, maybe we overadapt to accommodate other people, maybe we let other people think and decide for us, or maybe we go the other way to Leo and we feel unseen, we begin to lose confidence, seek approval from the group, and then when we don't get that, we reject them and we say, stuff them, I'm better off alone, I don't need them, and so we can swing between the extremes in this way. So again, the healthy response that we are hopefully working towards is are we able to belong to something bigger than ourselves while remaining true to our own values and our own inner guidance? So this is the lesson of one of the lessons of Rahu and Ketu this year, this self-mastery alongside conscious participation with other people. So just by way of conclusion, we talked about three big transits this year. The first was Jupiter, who initially is uh well is guiding us from scattered information and excessive sensory overload towards deeper intuition and inner guidance later in the year. Then we talked about Saturn who wants is asking us to mature emotionally and to respond to our feelings instead of react. And then finally, we talked about Rahu and Ketu, who invite us to balance our own authority with belonging to a community, the collective, a group. So as always, the best way to grow is through our small daily practices, you know, meditation and prayer and service. These are the best tools, as always.
