Welcome back to Hey at Sports. It's officially World Cup month. Let's go. Here with Sam. Sam, how are we? Great. Sam's great. I'm back, baby. His podcast, uh Hey It Sports Debut, Henry. How are you? I am great. Henry's great. A World Cup correspondent, Henry. Yeah. You are listening to the podcast of three individuals who are going to a World Cup game. Woo! Different games. Different games. I'm going to the World Cup. Yeah. Surprise. Where are we going? I think we're going to Atlanta. We'll talk about it when we get there. Okay. So truthfully, a lot of people listen to this probably don't know a whole lot about soccer. And so I think, guys, our goal today should be to help people understand what the heck is going on with the world's tournament. Amen. This is the biggest sporting event in the world. It's hundreds of millions of more people watch this than watch Super Bowl. Yep. Some say billions. And at least five more people will watch this than watch Hate Sports. Hate sports, yeah. Maybe a little less, but a little less. So today we're going to break down the groups. We're going to talk about what groups are. We're going to talk about some of our play favorite players, favorite teams, those kind of things. We'll just see where it goes. There's not a whole lot of uh structure to this. We're just gonna we're just gonna talk soccer. Let's talk some football. So, Sam, would you like to start off by explaining what the group stage is of the World Cup? Yeah, it's a great Carter. Thank you so much for asking. Yeah. Um, to to introduce this, we gotta talk about the actual the format of the World Cup, and that would be groups. So um they've done this in a lot of other uh sports now. So the group stages basically are where four teams are in groups. And in this World Cup, it's the largest World Cup ever. 48 teams, 12 groups. Each group has four teams, and each team plays each other. So that means everybody gets three games. If you win a game, you get three points. Three. If you tie a game, you get how many points, Henry? One. And if you lose, you get zero points. Right. So you play everybody once. At the end of the group stage, the two teams with the most points move on to the knockout rounds. Yes, they will. And some third place teams depend upon scores. We won't worry about that today. Don't worry about it. Okay? That's a month away. There are some ties, and that's based off goal differential. Again, if you have been around tribal baseball, you know how goal differential or run differential works. You want to score more, then you give up, and you want to have more um, you want to win, right? So you want to have more points. Um, and so each one of these groups, there are 12 groups. So 24 teams will get in automatically, and then eight teams will get in from third place. So four teams that are not that are third place will not get in. The other eight will get in. So we're gonna see some of these groups where uh the teams may not be as good, but that means those third place teams may be able to move on um because you're playing worse teams. Whereas the team where the groups with really good teams, those other teams are getting smashed at least twice. If you get four points, if you win and draw, you're almost 99% of the time guaranteed to move on to the group, uh, to the to the knockout rounds. Henry. Um what do you think what I think he means about bad groups is he's talking about group A. Group A. Who wanna talk about group A? Let's just get into it. Henry, who's in group A? We have Mexico, South Africa, Korea, and Chechica. Chechia. Chechia or the Czech Republic. We can't talk that anymore. It's called Chechia. Um, Henry, what do you mean by bad group? Um, well, they just aren't the biggest countries. They just don't have that talent in the in the uh big leagues, like the Liga Premier in the Bundesliga. Okay. Um, Carter, I'm just kind of looking at this group. I don't disagree with Car with Henry. I do see Korea does have uh San from uh Tottenham and now LA. You don't play for America? Yeah, I would say he's really good. Hyung Min San, um probably the standout guy beside Raul. Um, Yimes from uh Mexico. Mexico's also really good. Yeah, don't sleep on Ochoa. Yeah, World Cup Ochoa. Sixth World Cup. It's a record um for Ochoa. This dude continues to play and ugh, he's the worst. So he just is again he's like the Draymond. So a lot of my input today is gonna be relating these players and these teams to NBA or NFL teams. Okay. Ochoa is the Draymond Green of Mexico. Yeah. Runs his mouth, doesn't always back it up, but for whatever reason, when he needs to the most, he he plays very well. Uh they they replayed the Mexico versus Germany game from 2018. Oh, yeah, what a game. Where he's a match. He did unbelievable things. Yeah. So we gotta remember about this World Cup. Everybody calls it the U.S. World Cup. It is not. That was '94. This is uh Mexico, United States, and Canada. So Mexico's gonna play all of its group stage games in Mexico. Um the Azteca, which is their home stadium, is like the most formidable place to play a match. They they are not gonna lose a match here, unless to Korea. So the Mexico-Korea game is gonna be the big game uh in this group, and honestly, between South Africa and Chechia, whoever wins that game has a chance to be uh a qualifier third place. So the game we might get to go to is Chechia, South Africa, because it's probably gonna be one of the cheaper games. Yeah. Um, just because I mean no one's super excited about it. Um, but yeah, I mean, Mexico's good, Korea's good. I think those two are the ones advancing. What do you think, Henry? I agree. I'd like to ask Carter, what game are you going to? We'll talk about it when we get there. Yeah, we'll talk about it when we get there. Okay. Let's uh Carter, anything else in group A? I think it's another thing to uh mention for the non-ball knowers. That sounded derogatory, the non-soccer knowers. These teams, all 48 teams were ranked. And they're ranking like like power ranking based on what pot they were in. And so basically, like you're not gonna see the best two teams get in the same group because you want the best teams in the end. And so if we load the groups, we're not getting the best teams because some teams, some groups would be stronger than others, right? It's also based on qualifiers as well. So Europe got automatic number of qualifiers. So Europe, European teams, UEFA, they had tournaments uh and qualifying matches to get into the World Cup. Asia did it, Africa get it, South Africa uh did it, or South America, I apologize, Central America, and obviously um Europe. Yeah, yeah, Europe. So all those that that that helps as well. And another thing, the host country gets an automatic bid. So Mexico, Canada, UNESCO. They are automatically the top three. Yeah, like number one, number two, number three. Right. So South Africa's standout star this year will be Lyle Foster. He plays for Burnley, if that's shows you anything. Burnley. Yeah, Burnley stinks. Burnley's not very good, people. Yeah. All right, let's go to group B. Group B, Henry, introduce our teams in group B. Another host country. They would be Canada, Bosnia, Qatar, and Switzerland. Very good. Qatar, Canada, Bosnia, Switzerland. It's Qatar, don't listen to him. Bosnia and Herzegovina got in off a qualifier. They famously defeated Italy uh in the playoff final to get into the World Cup. Uh that was an unreal match. Um, I I look at these these teams, I'm I'm looking at you know, Canada and Bosnia again. I but I do, man, Switzerland's really good. I think Switzerland is really good. If you put Switzerland in like uh Asia, yeah, I think they're a lot more looked at, but they get buried by all the other European talent. And so a sleeper team, in my opinion, is Switzerland. Most of the players on their team is play in France, Germany, or England. Yeah. Yeah, uh Alaba is really good. Um, who else you got? Swiss teams. Akanji. Yeah, Akanji. Akanji. Yeah, Jansener. Uh and Canada's good, man. You got Davies, um, is obviously their star. Yeah, they're a good team. Bosnia, still led by Ed Njecko, all these years later. Um, but this is Bosnia or Bosnia's first World Cup, I think, since 2010. Yeah, it's been a while. So it's and this it's really big for Bosnia. And I think um, again, we we probably have a Bosnia personal list in this match or this podcast. Shout out to 80. Um I I know he's just super over the moon about Bosnia being in it. Uh, I do think Canada and Switzerland are probably the top two with Bosnia, probably gonna grab a third place um team here. I cutter's not bad, they weren't bad, and you know, they hosted 2022. I don't think they're bad. They put a ton of money into um advancing. I think this is a sneaky strong group, actually. Really? Yeah, I think B and C are sneaky strong. I think people are looking at some other ones, but uh in terms of uh uh competitiveness, I think every one of these matches is gonna be competitive. They did a uh smart job putting them up, like slicing them up, like good teams on one, and then there's another good team in this group. Oh, yeah, yeah. All right, Carter, anything else on B? Yeah, I think Canada, not Canada, sorry. I think Switzerland, I'm not gonna say walks through this group, but I think they're the clear best team in this group. Um, and then I think Canada maybe has some host magic. I wouldn't be surprised if Bosnia snuck up and grabbed the number two in that group, though. I wouldn't be wouldn't be mad about it at all. Because Davies is gonna get hurt at some point. Oh, yeah, yeah, he's always hurt. He's hurt now. Yes, he may not even make it. Yeah. All right, Henry, who's in group C? Brazil, Morocco, Haiti, and Scotland. I would like to say, after America, Scotland's my favorite team in this World Cup. Wow, more than England. I love England, but I like Scotland. Scotland and England. Who's who's some players from Scotland? I already know who you're gonna say, but who do you like? Um, let me find him. Henry's got his official Panini sticker book. He's got a lot of progress on it as well. Andrew Robertson? And he Robertson. Yeah. I can't say his name. Scott McTominay. McTominay, yeah. He's very good. Did I destroy an FC with Scotland? You beat me by two. That's destroying in soccer. Yeah, it's true. I I do think I think Scotland's good. Um obviously Brazil's gonna be the favorite their car, would you think? Oh, I I'm taking Morocco over Brazil. Maybe a hot take. Are you okay? But Morocco always over overperforms in the World Cup. They made it over the they made it further in Brazil the past two or three. This is true. They were semifinalists last time. They were, yeah, Morocco, good in AFCON. They do well in all the African um competitions. They I believe they won Afcon because I think Senegal or Ghana had to forfeit, if I remember correctly. Yeah, sounds right. Uh I don't remember. It's who knows. AFCON. It's AFCON. Um, that's the um Africa Cup of Nations, which they have they have every year, and it's a disaster. Well, I'll have to say Brazil is my first choice at moving on, then Scotland. Yeah, I think Brazil's definitely the most talented team in this uh by far in this group, but you see it with France too. They there's so many like high like ego attitude players that it's hard for it's hard to see them playing well together. Yeah. Not gonna put you on a bus card, but can you throw out some names? For Morocco or Brazil? Brazil. Uh Vinnie Jr., the biggest diva in the sport. True. Um, I mean Neymar is Alison. Neymar. Um, you have Gabrielle who just missed a huge penalty for Arsenal, which was spectacular. At least Allison can block, but can block some. Yeah. I I I think man, Brazil has one of the best managers in the world, Carl Ancelotti, a club manager for years, and he's now managing Brazil. I think he's gonna be able to to compel them to to get to at least six team. I think I think they can't. Oh, yeah, they'll definitely make it out of the group. I just I think Morocco plays well as a team and uh Yeah, I mean they're up for it, they have good tactics, and they play a lot of competitions. Well, you when you play friendlies, that's different than playing competitions. And when Afcons every year, we see those African teams doing you know well in these big international tournaments. Like Senegal or Ghana. Ghana because the black stars because because they're they play a lot together. Uh I'll say this about Haiti. Haiti, no hate on Haiti, but their manager basically can't even go in their country. It's so dangerous. So I don't see Haiti doing well. So we're saying Brazil, Morocco, maybe Scotland. I see Scotland as a third place. Okay. Moving on. All right, group D, the uh here we go, the big one. For us, maybe not some people. Yeah, true. USA, my favorite country in the world. Sure hope so. Paraguay. Australia and Turkey. Okay. Big uh big group. Uh Car, is this a good group or bad group for USA? It could be better, it could be worse. Yeah. Um, Paraguay, Paraguay, not someone to overlook. Absolutely not. And obviously not uh Turkey either. Turkey is a good team. I feel confident with Australia. Not a whole lot there from the Sakaroos. I don't know. Um it's just it's it bothers me how unpatriotic our American national team players are. Like you see in the World Cup more than probably any other tournament sport, whatever, the like the will to win and the desire to win. Yeah. That is so important in this tournament because this is like people literally put their lives on the line just about. And you just don't see that from America. Like, these these guys aren't like you talk about with Morocco, like playing together so much. America doesn't do that. Like Politic doesn't come to half the camps. That's true. You know, McKinney doesn't come to half the camps because they're resting for club. Like who you love more, your club or your s or your country? So that's I think they love their club more. Sad. I I will defend them a bit on that, just of they play a lot of matches. You know, Arsenal played 63 matches this year, and obviously I think they probably played around 40 to 45, maybe 50 matches, which a lot of matches. And when the U.S. does play a lot of dumb friendlies that make no sense. And the Federation also calls up a bunch of MLS guys, depending on who's available. You know, that I think that's part of it. I think there's been not much consistency over with the team. And yeah, I agree. Yeah, Politic not coming, uh, those other guys not showing up is is part of that, but they don't call them up. So it's not like Policy saying, I'm not coming. They don't call them up. They say, we'll give you a break this time. Let's bring these 20 MLS kids that will never play for the U.S. But we're we're gonna go play two games with them, but there's no chance they're gonna make the World Cup. Um, and you know, you've got some guys like Diego Luna, who I'm very upset about not making the World Cup squad. I think he's the one of those guys who is number one, he's had the most minutes under um Pachettino. Um he who's the manager, by the way. If you don't know Mauricio Pachettino is the manager of the world of the U.S. World Cup, uh U.S. men's national team. Diego Luna plays with passion, heart, plays hard. Um he's a dude that plays on a knife's edge. It's either a yellow or a beautiful tackle. He's a guy you want. He reminds you, reminds me a lot of the O2 team. And Car, you were too young for the O2 team, but the O2 team in Korea, they were they weren't supposed to do a thing. Yeah. And got to the quarters, were a missed handball call against Germany away from getting the semifinals. Yeah. Had no business being there. Beat man, but it was so great, dude. Like Donovan was young, Dempsey played hard, um, you know, Brian McBride, these guys that played MLS and just played hard. And I'm not saying I want a bunch of MLS kids to play. I want I want the best. I think I think the squad we have is probably the best technical soccer ability team we've ever had, but it's always gonna happen. Do we have the best team or we have the best individuals? And I think, like you said about Brazil, France, I'm I worry about us not having the identity as a U.S. team of hard-nosed, bloody, we're gonna go do everything we gotta do to win soccer. Yeah, you know, in 09, I was in college. This is the Confederation's Cup, which is the do they they do it before the World Cup. We were beating Brazil 2-0 and halftime in the final. And we ended up tying, we all lost on penalties to Brazil. And Brazil, that's prime 010. Yeah, it's probably 2010. Brazil and all them. Oh my gosh. And it was unreal. We just we play of our mind, and we weren't in that good, we just played harder than everybody else. And now that we're better, we're as good at other teams at as individually at maybe at soccer, uh, at football, are we do we still play that hard? And I don't see it. Yeah, I think we had some bad injury luck as well, like for um Rodon to be out. You know, that that was a big miss. Um, my biggest snuff was or snub in my opinion was uh Tanner Tessman, the midfielder. Yeah. I I thought he would be uh essentially a lock, and then he didn't make the the final team. I I think we're we're we're betting a lot on uh and our defense is so bad. I worry about Tim Rehm, he's old. 38 years old. I didn't feel good about him being on the team, but I thought maybe he's just legacy pick or whatever, but then he came out as the captain. What are we doing? I think he's the most respected player though on the team. But that means he's not coming off the field. Like my my hope was that he wouldn't be a 90-minute player. I don't think he will be. I don't know, man. I I don't think it will be. I I will say the way we played against Senegal does make me a little bit more optimistic. Yeah. We got Germany Saturday, that may kind of humble us a little bit more. But I mean, maybe we'll get some host magic, you know. Serginho Dest is one of those players, like Henry said, he kind of elevates his game when he's playing. Gio Rena's look better. Gio Arena, yeah. I think I think Burr Alter being out was better for him than anybody else. Well, it's a kind of good game. I I I do I do think we're about to see Prime Polisic. I think we're about to see his best tournament. And he is the closest to like a Donovan that we have or a Dempsey um that we've had we've had since those guys. And he's a dude that he's born in Hershey, Pennsylvania. He's a dude that's gone through the youth ranks, played everywhere. I think he is going to really I think I mean obviously we're gonna live and die by Bulisic. Right. And I don't know if it's a good thing or bad thing, but I think if you look at other teams, I think they're gonna live and die by their talisman. So why can't we do it? I've got U.S. and Paraguay uh moving on with Turkey close. And I I I don't even think the US wins the group. I think we get second, and I think we play in Dallas first round or the round of 32. I think it's gonna come down to can we score goals? Because we're gonna have to score to make up for our bad defense. Our wing backs, probably our strongest position is our wing backs. Um but they can't be as effective as they need to be for the full game. And when you have Tim Reim and uh Mark or uh Chris Richards, Chris Richards is okay. Chris Richards is great. Um I just and our our goalie play isn't great either. Um unless Matt Turner turns it up. Do you think Matt Turner will start? Or do you think it'll be Matt Freeze? I think Matt Freeze is gonna start. I do. Turner started against uh uh uh against Senegal. I think we'll see Freeze against Germany. I think if Freeze has a good game, I think he'll start. I predict uh I think it's up in the air. I don't think Pachatino knows. I really don't. My prediction is USA second, Turkey first. Wow. Yeah with Perigai coming in third and Australia fourth. Yeah. I think um I think Matt Turner played so well in the World Cup last time. I think it's it's his position to lose, but yeah. We still got a couple weeks. He could it's definitely lose a bull, I'd say, but I'll say USA and uh Turkey as well. Uh all right, let's go to group E. Uh Henry, tell us those teams. Gemini. Okay. C U W. Um if I'm correct, that is Cureko. Curakao, very good. Coast of Ivory and the Equator. Ecuador. Ecuador and they're all the same thing. Yeah. Alright. Um, you know, I look at this team, I I see uh the big two of Germany and Ecuador. Um you know, Germany is Germany. I you know, the funny thing with Germany is you look at the team, and there's very weird mixture of young and old. Uh, you know, like Florian Wirtz is young, um, had didn't have the best year with Liverpool. I think he's still a really good player. Uh now like Sane is almost 30. You've got these older attacking guys, but you also have a lot of guys that I don't think a lot of Americans know. Um, and I think that's scary. I think the more you know about the Germany. You want to know more about Germany, yeah. You know, yeah. Um we're we're gonna see a very, very athletic, strong Germany team who I think is gonna be really good and surprise people. I think people are really forgetting you can't forget about Germany. They are the one in this in this, and they're gonna blow everybody off. Yeah, it's not gonna be very they're going to murder people. And I think just you know, on par with those guys, um, they they're they're gonna take it to people. I I I would not be surprised if they're in the semis org finals. Um, I think people are really sleeping on them. I think it's Germany or Spain's to win, but I'll get to that later. But that's a hot dog. I do really, really, really feel good about Germany. Dude, they're so good. Dual Musciala. Oh man, they're so they're defensive stands. Very complete. They're very complete. They don't have a lot of holes except for maybe goalie, which is crazy. Weird that they're bringing about Neuer. I don't think he starts. I really don't. Okay. Well, we'll see. I mean, the Panini book has Terstehan, and obviously he's not even going to be in the World Cup. Their defense is not moving. No. They're known score. No one score on Schudeger. Joshua Kimmich at right back. Yeah. Kimmich is a man. Kurakao. Uh, World World Cup. Congratulations to Kurakao. I hope you enjoy your three matches. Uh Coast of Coast of Ivory, Ivory Coast, uh in French. Obviously, they're a French-speaking nation. Côte d'Ivry. Um, you know, you got your Yaya and Colo Torres used to play there. I think they're probably the more Adebayor famous Ivory Coast guys. Um, I still think Ecuador's probably going to advance with Germany. I think Ivory Coast would be a really good, really tough third team to play. I wouldn't want to play them, but I do think Germany, Ecuador advance. Henry, what do you think? Um, I believe that um Germany will come first and Coast of Ivory will come second. Coast of Ivory is a very physical team. I think they'll be hard for Ecuador to go with. Yeah, it almost feels like Germany's just getting some tune-up games before the the real group stage starts. Um Yeah, they're playing the U.S. on Sunday. I think they're just like, oh, let's have a tune-up to a tune-up. They might bring the U-21. Mr. Stegan might play that game. Yeah, he might. Uh okay. Let's do uh let's do one more group and then we'll save the second one for the rest of them for the second part of the pod. Um group F. This is the group I've been waiting to talk about because Carter. Henry, read the group and then tell us about it, Carter. Netherlands, Japan, Sweden, and Tunisia. Wow. Okay. Carter, tell us about it. When I was in high school, I graduated high school in 2019. Wow. They announced 2026. Pre-COVID. Yeah, they announced 2026 in America in 2018, around that time of that World Cup. Yes. America. And me and my really good friend said, hey, we're gonna be in like the prime of our lives. We're gonna be like 25, 26 years old. Prime of our lives. We have got to do whatever it takes to go to a game. Okay. Okay. Now we both played soccer, both played a lot of FIFA, both watched, you know, the World Cup that year. And my friend's favorite team is Japan. Other than America, of course. He loves watching Japan. He loves their their heart, their hustle, their their never say dies. He likes surprise attacks. Yeah. He likes it when his team just gets behind you, sneaks up on you. He likes a dawn raid. Yeah. My favorite team, not favorite, top poor Pearl. Top three team that I like to watch is the Netherlands. Remember poor Holly. I grew up loving the Netherlands. I love Frankie Deong. I just I love so funny backstory. In 2010, the first soccer game I remember watching was the the final between sp uh Spain and the Netherlands. I was cheering for Netherlands the whole time. But I thought I was cheering for Spain. So Spain wore blue jerseys, the Netherlands wore orange. Oh, absolutely. Oh god. And I was cheering for orange, thinking orange was Spain. And then like Niesta scores in the at the death. And I'm like, wait a minute. Yeah. I've been cheering for the wrong team the whole time. But like FIFA, like on the game, FIFA, like I just love the Netherlands. Yeah. I love their players, all these things. And so around Christmas time, a friend calls me up and says, Hey, it's happening. We're going. I'm like, no way. He's like, yeah. So Kawait, who are we watching? Netherlands versus Japan. One of the best groups games. Yes. Very good group. Yo, my background with the Netherlands, I'm also a big uh Netherlands fan. 98. Um, 94, I was probably five. Five. I wasn't probably. I was five. I was too young, didn't watch it. 98, I watched a little bit of it. We had FIFA 98 and Dennis Birdkamp and Evan Vandersar were the big dudes for the Dutch in '98. Love the orange jerseys. You know, the kids are just so much different than what everybody else wore in that World Cup. Uh if it O2, I I loved uh, you know, the 2010 World Cup, man. You had uh Nigel Le Young, Van Persie, uh, you had Van Persie, you had uh Arjun Robin, uh, you had just a team of just just dudes. They were so much fun to watch. Um, and that was a team that I just loved to watch. And I was devastated uh when they lost that one. Um and I love that Spain team, but Spain team was like, oh, everybody loves Spain. I was like, man, you know, uh the IX connection. Kind of like Spain was very much all those people were Barcelona, basically. Yeah, a lot of that uh Netherlands team had all kind of grown up in the same area. So I really enjoyed that team. So I'm I am very excited to see them. I think they're very good. Uh Henry, tell us about some Dutch players. Who you got that's good? Who should we be watching for on the Netherlands? Oh Frankie Denjong. Frankie Denjong. Frankie Django, yeah, yeah. Xavy Simons. Javi Simons, yeah. He's out. He's gone. Now he's been playing, he's out. He's hurt. He's one of their best players. What a blow, man. Yeah, he's he's out. Virgil van Dyke. Virgil van Dyke. You know who that is. Yes, I do. That's I said you said his name like you don't know who that is. Who's he playing for, Henry? He plays for Liverpool. Nathan Ake, one of my favorite players. One of my favorite players. Van Dyke is probably the most unlikable person. Yeah, I can't stand that. Except for when he's playing for the Dutch. I can't stand that. I'm gonna be honest. He makes me not like the Netherlands. I can't stand that. I'm gonna be completely honest. I think from midfield and back, Netherlands is a very solid team. You nailed it, Henry. They got the best defense in the World Cup. The forwards. They leave something to be desired. They aren't world class. Yep, yep. DePaz all the time. Oh, I like uh Warhorst. Val de Vegorst. Yeah, I like Vegas. Put two on Argentina last time. That was such a good match. I will go back and watch that. It's a good match. Like on YouTube. It's a good match. I scored at the 110th minute. It's basically almost the same exact Dutch team, too. Now, and I think um, you know, you got a few kind of at their last World Cup here for the Netherlands. Kind of like Belgium when we get there. That's a good comp. Uh we're there. Belgium from like last World Cup or World Cups. Yeah, I think Belgium's kind of toast here, but um, I would love for Belgium to have a historic run. But I am excited about the Netherlands. I'm excited about this team. Talk about the other team. Man, Japan's good. Okay, Japan's always solid. Sweden is good. Tunisia is not horrible. Like they're not gonna roll over and just die. This is a good group. I think every one of these matches is gonna be really good. Um, this is all you know, a ton of matches I'm excited to see. Henry, who do you have advancing out of this group? Netherlands at first and Sweden at second. Whoa. Tunisia coming in fourth. Whoa! Whoa, okay. I thought Japan coming in third. Okay, I thought I was like, whoa. Yeah. Uh how do you feel about that one, Carl? Uh I'll subscribe to that. I I could switch Japan. You're gonna follow that? You're gonna like that? I could switch Japan and um Sweden, but I think this is Netherlands group to lose for sure. Sweden has a very good team. Tell us about Sweden real quick. Sweden, let me tell you about Alexander Isaac, Isak. Isaac. Look, yeah, he has not done well. He's uh he's owed goals, he hasn't scored goals in years. They just get blown out by Norway three to one, and Norway did not even play Holland. Uh, that was a naughty good look for Sweden. Beside Isaac, they none of their players are completely like well known. They don't still have Zlatan, do they? No, he wishes. I saw a Zlotten, I saw a Zlatan commercial today. Like he was. So funny. It's like get ready for Zlatan at the World Cup or something like that. Sweden plays Greece in a friendly. Remember, Sweden got in on a qualifier like Bosnia did. So basically what happens, guys, is um you have automatic qualifiers, they win their group, um, and you have for qualifying, and then there's some uh leftover teams that have a chance to do more playoffs. Sweden won a game, then had to play Poland and barely beat them 3-2, and Poland's not extremely very good. Um I I would say Tunisia, I see Tunisia is probably better than Sweden. Um I don't know what you're thinking. Well, we'll see on uh June 14th which one wins that match. But Sweden's people that's opening day. They're not Sunday. Sweden's people are not big names, but they all play for good leagues and good teams. Well, we'll see. I mean, I I think there is something to be said about that. So yeah, I I man, I just fear the African teams, man. I just some I just I never never want to play them. I've had too many World Cups playing, losing to Ghana um, you know, for the world for US. So I I do fear uh Tunisia, but I I still do think probably that uh Japan and Germany or Netherlands and Japan are the best. Victor Nillison Lindolf for Astonville, yes, that is him. I've never heard of him before, but Lindelof, Victor Lindhoff. Yeah, Victor Lindalf's good. Oh, I guess. He's playing for United. Yeah, he's a good player. Good player. No, I don't like him if he plays for United. Come on, man. I'm sorry, guys. I'm a Manchester City fan. He did, and I like that he put Lindelof put a post today, and it was him holding the trophy. They just won the Europa League. And he said, Finally a trophy, and he just played for United. I was like, I love that, dude. Doggone United, so I thought that was funny. Um, all right, so we're through the first half. That's six groups. We've got six more to go through. We'll be back with another episode of Hey It Sports. Yes, we will. Very quickly. Out of this group, which is the best team we talked about today, Carter. All these groups. Yes. Henry, you go first. Henry, who's the best team? Um, I'll pass the dad. Germany's the best team we've talked about today. That's a lot. Kevin, who you got? Um, me. Currently, that would be out of the out of the teams we just talked about, Henry. The Netherlands. Okay. The Netherlands are or somebody else we talked about. I forgot everybody else. Okay. Let me look. If only you had a thing. I think uh I think the highest ceiling is Germany or Brazil. Um, but my sleeper team out of all these is the Netherlands and then um Morocco. Oh I love it! All right. Hey, real quick before we go, oh hey, Fox Soccer has been releasing their top 100 players. Oh, in Brazil. Brazil is what that's why. There you go. I want you guys to guess their top 10, real quick. Well, I know it's not Messi, because Messi is not in the top 10, which is the dumbest thing. Messi is probably 16. Ronaldo is 40. I mean, I yeah. Uh I would say they probably put um Bruner Fernandez in the top 10. No. Enzo Fernandez? Jal Pedro snubbed from Brazil. What what what game is this? This is the top 10 players that are in the World Cup. All right, well, Holland. Holland is number six. You want to go Alvarez? Yeah, Julian Alvarez. No. This is this, I don't understand. Julian Alvarez. Have they ever watched a game? Have they never watched the top 100? Wow. Well, get ready. Had they never watched soccer before? I'm sorry. Mbappe? Yeah. Sorry, number two. Mbappe. I was about to say, I would have left this room. Vinny Jr. Number seven. So let's see, we got Vinny Jr., Mbappe, Holland. Um I give you countries when everybody's gonna be. Well, they'll put Sokka in the top ten. Okay, good. He's not only one Englishman. Oh my gosh. Is it crazy? Oh, well, it's gotta be Harry Kane. Yeah. Who are you thinking? If they put um one of my favorite per people, Anthony Gordon. I'm just gonna go. Hadn't been good in the last three months. I guess. Same thing for Phil Foden. Hadn't been good this year. Um so tell us again who who we're missing the number one player in the world. Oh, Dembele. Dembele. Yeah, Dembele number four. Good job, Henry. Um, we're missing the number one player in the world. I wouldn't like I don't hate it, but uh, it's not who I would have said. Well, it's uh oh it's uh uh Yamal. Yeah, number one. I mean Yamal. I don't think that's true. He's an 18-year-old. Um how about Let me give you some countries or no? How about Tim Payne from New Zealand? No. How about Virgo? We'll talk about him next time. How about Virgo Van Dyke? Virgil van Dyke is not. You got another Spaniard? Another Spaniard. Another Spaniard. Let me walk through the book, Dad. Don't guess yet. Okay, we've done one, we've done two, we're missing three. No, Harry Kane was three. Okay. Four? Nembele. Five. Don't have five. What position? Striker. Forward. What country? French. Yeah, maybe Danny. I'll just run through his main team. Mbappe. Unite Simon, Robin Lee Normand. We did Mbappe. I believe he plays for um Bayern. Is he a winger? Yeah, sorry, not a striker. No, wait, wait, I'm I'm not saying anything crazy. I'm just saying Yeah, he plays for Bayern. He went crazy in the Champions League. Not Elise, huh? Yeah. Okay. Elise. Okay. I don't know if that's. All right, you missing eight, nine, and ten. Alright, give me country. Morocco. Oh gosh. I should know this. I don't watch Defender. I don't know. I don't watch Merocki soccer. Oh, yeah, Hakimi, yeah, PSG. Never heard Portugal. Another PSG guy. Dude, I just don't watch it. Vitinha. We'll be fine, Dan. And then number 10 from Spain. He's a midfielder. Plays for the best team in the world. Henry. Oh, Pedri. Yeah, Pedri. So it's Ped from 10 to 1. Pedri, Vitinha, Hakimi, Vinicius Jr., Holland, Ulisse, Dembele, Kane, Mbappe, number one, Lamine, Yamal. I could have done a list a hundred times better. Well, a lot of French in there, so I'm saying a lot of French uh bias. I'll see. Man, I don't know. I don't believe in that. I don't think that's true. I don't think France is the best team in the World Cup. We'll talk about it next week. I'd say uh Where's Ugarden? I don't know. We'll see. Um, but anyway, so uh we will see next week. That's the first half of the World Cup. We're gonna do the second half, and we'll do uh our prediction for the knockouts next time. What do you think, Carl? Let's do it. Let's do it. Henry, will you be back on Hey at Sports? You know I will. Perfect. All right. It's been it's been Hey Sports. See ya. What's Henry doing? Uh that what's in the height at sports while he's going to sleep. That's what puts him to sleep these days.
