SPEAKER_00

Welcome back to Air Sports. I'm your host, Carter, joined by Samuel. Samuel. It's been a while.

SPEAKER_02

It has. Glad to be back finally.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

The first time I came on the pod was right before last year.

SPEAKER_00

That's right. We were recording and then my wife went into labor.

SPEAKER_02

Yep. Right when we were up here. So it was an interesting weekend.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

We made some predictions, not a single one came true.

SPEAKER_00

Uh we had some you you had some some stuff come true. I remember you said Javante Williams was a sleeper.

SPEAKER_02

He was. Yeah, that was a good pick. That was about it. None of our teams to win the Super Bowl or anything had.

SPEAKER_00

Oh well, no. No, I'll always be wrong about that.

SPEAKER_02

Always, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So as we said, football is just around the corner. As is being recorded, the Hall of Fame game has come and gone. Did you watch the Hall of Fame game?

SPEAKER_02

I did. It was awesome. I think it had to be the best one of all time.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

All I remember about the Hall of Fame game in recent years is all the games are like 17 to 14 or 14 to 10. But Haynes King and Carson Beck are two well-known college quarterbacks coming into the league, even though that they weren't expected to do amazing things in the NFL. But that game, that game put on a show. That was awesome.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, Carson Beck at least was I feel like he's playing for playing time. Like the Cardinals quarterback situation is far from secure.

SPEAKER_02

I think Brissett's definitely the starter, but if you go into week 13, 1 and 12, why wouldn't you play Carson Beck? You know what I mean? So especially if he shows a little something here. So I think he's definitely playing for more than it looks. And I mean Haynes King, I mean Bryce Young's their starter.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, uh I didn't know Haynes King was in the NFL. I thought he went back to college. I was surprised to see him the other day.

SPEAKER_02

He's a dog. He probably had like 10 concussions in college because he just runs people over. He doesn't care who's in his way. But yeah, I'm uh that was an awesome game. It was a good like appetizer for the year.

SPEAKER_00

That's what I call the pre scene. It's just like an appetizer. Like, I need more, but it'll hold me over for the next month until college and the real NFL starts.

SPEAKER_02

I'm ready for it to be back fully. I'm excited.

SPEAKER_00

Me too. So we mentioned it's Hall of Fame weekend. Saints Legend Drew Brees enters the Hall of Fame. Give me some of your favorite Drew Brees moments growing up watching him.

SPEAKER_02

Obviously, the first thing's gonna be the Super Bowl.

SPEAKER_00

For sure.

SPEAKER_02

But the thing about Drew Brees was like Bounty Gate, how bad the defense was those years, it did not matter what it was, you always had a chance to win. Because of him. Because of him. Like it was just like no matter what game it was or who we played, you always went in thinking that like you had a chance to win. So I mean it that that's really like the main uh the main thing was just always having a chance to win. But just him and Sean Payton, like all of his his connections to his running backs passing wise were what like sprolls, Camara, like all those running backs, like he was special.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I uh obviously not a Saints fan anymore, but watching him today and they you know showed some highlights of him. It took me back to when I was a Saints fan and just having nothing but Drew Brees at times. You know, some some bad Saints teams where he was the only real positive. Um but yeah, I remember him him and Eli Manning each throwing seven touchdowns in a game, just absolute shootout. Um I remember the the pass he threw to Darren Sproles to break the all-time touchdown record.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yes.

SPEAKER_00

And Joe Tessator in the commentary said 540 in the 504.

SPEAKER_02

And then he threw uh to break the passing yards record to one of the worst players of Saints have ever had Tracon Smith. Of course, he's the one that caught it. Yeah, yeah, there it was some.

SPEAKER_00

Do you think there's a more underrated player in the history of sports than Drew Brees? I'm hard pressed to find another one.

SPEAKER_02

I don't think so.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, we're biased, but I mean, the big knock, no MVPs, sure. But all-time leading pass leader, all-time leading um touchdown leader when he retired, and obviously Tom Brady came in and took those away, but he also played six more years, you know.

SPEAKER_02

I just don't if you're a New Orleans fan, you know he's a top three quarterback. Maybe even top two.

SPEAKER_00

I I haven't met two. I mean, like I don't know if you're gonna be able to do it.

SPEAKER_02

If you watch his accuracy and everything, he was just he was unbelievable. But the MVP's like there were some years he definitely should have won it and just didn't. So I mean that's definitely a damper, but if you look deeper into it, it's like I mean he did get a Super Bowl, so at least that's uh that was good.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I um I remember whenever the uh all 100 team came out and he didn't make it. Like, what are we doing? Yeah. Do you think Aaron Rodgers had a better career than Drew Brees?

SPEAKER_02

No.

SPEAKER_00

I don't either. Like I know he has more MVPs.

SPEAKER_02

Well, talent level is what people say, and I get that arm talent and all that, but I don't think like what it what if I guess you could say throughout his career, what if he had all the defenses that Rogers has played with, or all the defenses Brady's played with? I know that hypotheticals are you know, whatever, but I mean the defenses for like five years of his career were 30th or like 30. I mean, it was like bad.

SPEAKER_00

People use that to his you know argument as well of like, well, he was always trailing, and so that's why they were always throwing, and that's why his stats were so good. But I mean, of the however many 5,000 yard seasons, he has like almost half of them in NFL history. Yeah. You know, it's like it's unbelievable things he could do with not a lot of supporting cast.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it was I mean, I could talk about Breeze for days. Yeah, no doubt.

SPEAKER_00

True, true Louisiana legend, true New Orleans legend. I remember uh whenever the Saints won the Super Bowl, they had like a documentary over that season, and he had talked about like how he came to join the Saints. And uh Sean Payton had took taken him on a uh car ride with his wife, touring Louisiana, and this was right after Katrina, and like they had turned down this wrong street or something, and he said, Sean Payton said, I may as well have taken him to Miami then because that's the other place he was considering. But he said in that moment when he saw the devastation of the city, that's when he knew that's where he needed to be.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's what makes him such a legend. I mean he was good, but he also chose us. I mean he could have gone to Nick Saban in Miami. They had a way better situation, a winning record the year before, an amazing defense. Like everything was everything was like lined up for him. But I mean that's just why like nobody really makes an impact to hold City as much as he did, not just on the football field. So he's uh it's definitely emotional watching him. Uh it seems like he was just playing for the Saints, you know. And his arm strength was got bad when he got old, you know, in 2019 or 2020, whatever year it was. And some of the fans were like, we need to just move on. And it's like, dude, like when every 30-yard pass, even though he can only throw 35 yards, it's like on the money, it's still like now we've gone on a roulette of Teddy Bridgewater's and Derek Carr's and Trevor Simeons, and yeah, so I know you didn't watch his speech yet, but I'll give you one quote he had.

SPEAKER_00

He said, Thank you for making me the face of your city, and I was willing to die for that to protect it.

SPEAKER_02

And everybody believes him, too. And everybody believes him because that's that's what he meant to the city, so uh especially after Katrina. So Drew Brees to the Hall of Fame, and hopefully we have another one coming. Yeah well, for me, I'm still a Saints fan.

SPEAKER_00

Who you talking about?

SPEAKER_02

Hopefully we just have another quarter in general.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, somebody in the Hall of Fame.

SPEAKER_02

Like, I would never have a quarterback as good as Drew Brees as a Saints fan, like ever in my lifetime, you know. So like that's not like a hot take. Like, I mean, he's awesome.

SPEAKER_00

So yeah, and I'll I'll just quick shout out to Luke Keekly. I know he plays for the Panthers, but he is one of my favorite NFL players of all time.

SPEAKER_02

They would go to they went to they go to battle twice a year. Keekly and Breeze. They were there were some real battles there. I mean, he was awesome.

SPEAKER_00

I mean Yeah, I hate his career, got cut short to injury, but just so much fun to watch. So smart, so physical, all all the things you need out of a linebacker.

SPEAKER_02

But he was awesome, but yep, shout out Drew Brays.

SPEAKER_00

We're gonna do what every other sports media outlet does. We're gonna make our predictions for this season. And we're gonna start with our uh division winners. So where do you want to start?

SPEAKER_02

Let's start with I'll start with the AFC.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Let's start north. AFC North.

SPEAKER_02

Do you want to go all the way down or uh just the first or second?

SPEAKER_00

Let's just do four to one. And if there's something we want to talk about, we'll we'll talk about it. I think the four is obvious.

SPEAKER_02

I don't. Really? I don't. I think it I think it's still the Browns. Yeah. But I don't think it's obvious. They have a higher win total because their schedule is very easy. So I think that like like I could definitely see the third place team, the Steelers. I could see them just like completely like collecting. Like I could definitely say I could see him getting hurt. If I told you who plays more games this year, would you put your money on Rogers or Lamar?

SPEAKER_00

That's tough. I'd say Rogers. Really?

SPEAKER_02

See, I would say I would say Lamar. But like either way, like I just think Rogers.

SPEAKER_00

I think Lamar's playstyle gets him hurt more often than Rogers, who just stands in the pocket and throws.

SPEAKER_02

They barely, I mean, I agree with that, but I mean, I think Lamar might be a little bit safer this year. I mean, he's might kind of it's been rough the last few years. Yeah. But I think that I mean, you lose Mike Tomlin to get Mike McCarthy.

SPEAKER_00

I mean that's a that's a backwards move in my opinion.

SPEAKER_02

Right. I mean, they they barely scrape by going nine or eight wins, you know, so it's like I think they could go downhill, and the win total for the Browns is six and a half. So I mean, like, if they get to seven, then it's like, you know, but I think I still think the Browns are who you think they should start at quarterback?

SPEAKER_00

Dude, why not just throw Deshaun Watson out there? You're paying him anyway, all that money.

SPEAKER_02

I've got I kind of agree with you, but there's been some camp that Watson's been terrible.

SPEAKER_00

But I mean I wouldn't be surprised at all. He hadn't touched a ball in, well, a football in the middle of the city.

SPEAKER_02

Let me tell you if you need a four-yard pass to Harold Fannon.

SPEAKER_00

Dylan Gabriel is your guy. I hate he's getting so overlooked. I feel like he played well for the Browns.

SPEAKER_02

Well, he'd just throw four-yard passes to the tight end all games.

SPEAKER_00

So I mean that's better than throwing 12 interceptions and 10 starts or whatever. Let it fly.

SPEAKER_02

Let it fly. I guess anyway, we can't forgotten. This is way too long talking about the Browns. Yeah, let's move on from the Browns. Third Steelers, second Ravens, first Bengals.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's the eight-old question. Are the Bengals gonna be healthy? Or more specifically, is Joe Burrow gonna be healthy? Um, I like what they added on defense. They added some good pieces.

SPEAKER_02

They had a top five defense last half of the year last year. Nobody knows that. Really? Yeah, I would not have believed that. Nobody uh nobody realizes that. They tried to make a run when Burrow got healthy, but again, it's just if he can stay healthy, you know. But I don't I can't really predict injuries, you know what I mean? Like, and I think they're better than the Ravens. So I gotta go with the Bengals, Ravens, Steelers, Browns. You would you say the same?

SPEAKER_00

I'll agree with that. I think the Ravens are a very injury-prone team as well. We saw that last year. So it it the the the division's gonna come up to whoever's healthier, in my opinion. So I could go either way.

SPEAKER_02

What do you think about the AFC South?

SPEAKER_00

Dude, the Jaguars are so good. I think they're most one of the more underrated teams in the league.

SPEAKER_02

This is one of the most interesting divisions. Yeah. There's a path for every team in this division to win it. If Cam Ward hits, you know what I mean? Like there's just I think Robert Sell is actually a pretty good coach. I agree. So I mean, like there's coaches, unfortunately. There's a there's a path for all of these teams. Like, this is the toughest one to pick, in my opinion. But what's your order?

SPEAKER_00

I think the Titans bottom out. Um, and then the Colts, Texans, Jaguars. I don't I'm not a believer in Coleridge, Stroud.

SPEAKER_02

We're gonna disagree on this one. Titans, four. I think I don't think it's because they're gonna be bad. I just think they're gonna be fourth. Like, I don't think like it's not a they might be the best worst team in division.

SPEAKER_00

I was gonna say, I think it's a very solid division. Like, none of the teams are just great. They could all go nine and eight. Yeah, for sure.

SPEAKER_02

Third, I'm going to man. First, I'm gonna put the Texans, and it's not because Stroud, I'm not a believer either. Their defense is just so good. Right. I mean, and Stroud, he's gotta put up like 17 points. So, I mean, the two and the three are what um what I'm debating. I mean, the Colts went four games last year with a healthy Daniel Jones without punting. I mean, it was crazy.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, Jonathan Taylor.

SPEAKER_02

The Jaguars and the Jaguars at the end of the end of last year, like their stretch of games, they played Denver, one of them, and performed well, but other than that, it was against some bad teams.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, my concern for them is the fact that they didn't really add anybody, but they lost Devin Lloyd. They lost A-Chain, or I must still say ATN because there's already an A-Chain in the league. But yeah, I just I to who'd they draft? They didn't have a draft pick because they traded it for Travis Hunter last year.

SPEAKER_02

They got even their other picks, they got pretty uh a lot of the people who know a lot about the draft did not like their draft. I will say that.

SPEAKER_00

So, like, I mean But you I hate to see that because they had so much like bright spot last year, and they're just kind of sitting on their hands now, it seems.

SPEAKER_02

I'm gonna put the Colts second. I've always been a Daniel Jones believer. Not that he's like a top three quarterback, but I've always uh I probably said it on last year's pod. Like, I think he's better than people give him credit for. And it sucks that he got hurt last year, but I'm gonna put the Colts, I actually do like their coach, um, the Jags third, but that's definitely the toughest division.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I um I think the Jaguars are kind of minking on Trevor Lawrence, repeating his success under Liam Cohen.

SPEAKER_02

If you told me all four of these teams won the division, I would I'd believe you.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. You think you think Daniel Jones will come back as good as he was? Because Achilles used to be like a career-ending injury, but now it's gonna be like he didn't I mean he ran some, but he didn't run a ton last year. That's true. That's true.

SPEAKER_02

Jonathan Taylor's so good that he opened some stuff up. Alec Pierce is hurt, though, and they didn't really they have Josh Downs, but like they don't really have a ton. They traded uh Pittman.

SPEAKER_00

For the Steelers, yeah. So they don't really their weapons are Tyler Warren. Yeah, they definitely have Tyler Warren.

SPEAKER_02

If you have Warren and Josh Downs, I don't know how far that's gonna get you, but we'll see. That's a tough division.

SPEAKER_00

So Alec Pierce raises their ceiling more, like that much more.

SPEAKER_02

I do. Because he could stretch the fi he could just stretch the field, and he his stats last year were crazy compared to like what people think or what people thought about Alec Pierce going into last year compared to what people think he is now. It's like he got paid over 100 million.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I was very shocked when I saw that.

SPEAKER_02

He got paid huge money, so I think now he's kind of had a lingering, he was supposed to be back, but he kind of has a lingering injury, so I don't know you know how that goes, but but yeah, that division, so we disagree a little bit there. We'll save the East. AFC West.

SPEAKER_00

Dude, I I'm tempted to put the Chiefs last. I'm not gonna do it because they're the Chiefs. But dude, that roster looks so bad.

SPEAKER_02

It does, it definitely does.

SPEAKER_00

Is what's Rasheed Rice's deal? Is he fighting legal stuff or is he just hurt?

SPEAKER_02

No. So in the NFL, there's things you'll do to get suspended, but if you like commit bad crimes or like hit your girl or something, they do you still play. You still play, yeah. But there was training camp videos out, and he looks like he is um running in quicksand. Rasheed Rice. Yes, so it's I mean, he was working out in jail last like a few weeks ago. I mean, like, it's kind of like, man.

SPEAKER_00

At least he didn't bet on games.

SPEAKER_02

Right, right, yeah. Anything like yeah.

SPEAKER_00

At least he didn't take a PED.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you can beat people, do whatever. You can hit and run, you know, all that stuff.

SPEAKER_00

Well, Henry Ruggs, but well, he was under the under the influence.

SPEAKER_02

Right. And literally killed somebody, so that's different. But yeah, I think the Raiders, you would agree the Raiders are fourth. Yeah. Just kind of have to.

SPEAKER_00

I like what they did a lot. I just think they were so deep in a hole that they're Blender Bomb the center, they got that's an underrated sign. For Ashton Gentine year two. Then they got they got Clint Kubiak.

SPEAKER_02

Right, yep. I like their coach, definitely.

SPEAKER_00

Do you wish, I mean, obviously hindsight's 2020, but do you wish the Saints would have kept him instead of letting him go and now having Kellen Moore?

SPEAKER_02

Ask me after this year. Okay. Definitely. Definitely after this year, because I mean we'll be able to see Kellen Moore and But like my thing is though, you know, do you draft Tyler Shuck? Like, how much influence did Kellen Moore have? Like, would Clint Kubiak have drafted Shador? You know, like so it's kind of like there's a but if you're talking about purely on the field, uh, we'll know this year. I mean, right now I'm happy with Moore, but is what it is. But so the Raiders last, I mean, third, Chiefs. Chiefs. I agree. I actually agree with that.

SPEAKER_00

Kelsey's like put on a probably good 20, 30 pounds of not muscle. Dude looks pretty big. Yes. I think this is his last season.

SPEAKER_02

The married weight? Yeah. The married weight, yeah. And honeymoon and too hard. I'm surprised he's playing again. I would just be done.

SPEAKER_00

I think if they had ended last year better, he'd be done. But since he didn't even make the playoffs, I think.

SPEAKER_02

I think we're gonna disagree with the next teams. I ain't gonna lie.

SPEAKER_00

His brother did the same thing. You know, Jason Kelsey stayed one year after they after they lost in the Super Bowl, and then they won. They sucked it up the next year, and then the first year he was gone, they won it.

SPEAKER_02

Right. Then they won.

SPEAKER_00

You have the Chargers won?

SPEAKER_02

I do.

SPEAKER_00

I don't hate it. I mean, I was thinking about that on the way over here, like Well, you hated Herbert last year.

SPEAKER_02

I remember us talking about it. Yeah. Has anything changed? Well, this ain't playoffs. This is just regular season.

SPEAKER_00

I I think the Broncos have a better roster. I think they have a better coach.

SPEAKER_02

I think the quarterback talent difference is so big, dude.

SPEAKER_00

I do. I don't think Nick's is better than Herbert.

SPEAKER_02

I just don't think Nick's is very good.

SPEAKER_00

He doesn't have to be good. I don't think that roster is so good.

SPEAKER_02

But I don't think that with Mike McDaniel coming in at the Chargers. It's true. The Broncos might have a the Broncos have a better roster, but it's not by much. I mean, you got two all-pro tackles coming back for the Chargers. You got a better quarterback. I mean, those three things mean like those are big deals. I mean, I know the defense um is definitely better for Denver, but I think it's a Chargers year. I think it's their year.

SPEAKER_00

I'm gonna say Broncos just to be different, but it's like splitting hairs for me. I think they're very similar. I have a quick fantasy question for you. Are you fading or are you high on uh Omarion Hampton?

SPEAKER_02

High.

SPEAKER_00

Why?

SPEAKER_02

I think he's really good.

SPEAKER_00

I I drafted him last year. He did not do a whole lot. I know he played, he did. Before he was hurt, even he didn't do a whole lot.

SPEAKER_02

At the end of the year, he did. He was just hurt. So but Herbert throws the ball too. Again, you're also getting two all-pro tackles back. I think he's really good. Some of his metrics were good, but he's uh I think he's due for a huge bounce back. I think he's going, he's I think he's gonna catch a lot of passes as well from Herbert. So I think I mean if you think the offense is gonna be really good, Hampton's gonna score a lot of points.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know. I I just didn't see a whole lot from him.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I mean, I definitely get it. If you had him last year, it could be frustrating. There's guys that I uh I mean, there's guys that I've had in the past that I will never draft again, no matter how hyped they are, you know. But like Jalen Waddle on the Broncos, he leaves he left like 10 games last year with an injury and came back, but still for like fantasy purposes or or even in-game purposes, that's like two quarters gone. It's like I don't know. I'm just not a you think Bo Nick's is gonna protect Jalen Waddle with threatening.

SPEAKER_00

See, I I like Jalen Waddle to the Broncos. I thought that was a good pickup for them.

SPEAKER_02

I like it. I like it too if he's on the field. Like they needed it, they got him. I just don't, he's just he leaves every game. It's kind of crazy.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I think he has more freedom to play his style for the Broncos because they have big body receivers over there already in Cortland Sutton.

SPEAKER_02

You think he's good?

SPEAKER_00

Cortland Sutton? No, not really. But he can play he's gonna do what Waddle was doing for the Broncos. I mean for the the Dolphins. And so you can put Waddle on the slot more, I think.

SPEAKER_02

Cortland Sutton is a guy on your fantasy team. That's one of those dudes that you wouldn't pick again.

SPEAKER_00

Him and Jerry Judy, like, why would why if you're drafting them, like why? They're good receivers, but they have no production fantasy-wise.

SPEAKER_02

Man, those the good for solid season. The preseason height where they're running routes on air, gosh, they're good. It's like Ben Simmons in the offseason. Right, yeah. Oh, he can like Zion. They can shoot, you know, but all right, let's move to the AFC East.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. The East comes down to two questions for me.

SPEAKER_02

But the East has the worst team in the NFL. I don't think it's close.

SPEAKER_00

The two worst.

SPEAKER_02

I don't I think the Jets will be a little bit better. The Dolphins, dude, the Dolphins roster, dude, they are the worst team in the NFL to me. Yeah. They're worse than the Cardinals, Raiders, Jets.

SPEAKER_00

But other than that, I don't think they're very good.

SPEAKER_02

Dude, they have like if you like go like player by player, dude, it is bad.

SPEAKER_00

They got A-Chain. I think they have a good offensive line. They do, they re-signed two of their guys this week, and they have a good a few good pieces on defense, but you're right. Other than that, it's bottom of the barrel.

SPEAKER_02

Dude, they spent like 30. The difference between how much they they're clearly tanking. The difference between how much they spent and the second lowest spent team is like 30 million, dude. It's not even like, yeah, it's not even like.

SPEAKER_00

They gave Malik Willis the bag.

SPEAKER_02

Just because he's gonna have to run. Dude, who is their number one receiver?

SPEAKER_00

Uh Malik Washington. Exactly.

SPEAKER_02

Exactly. Tyreek Hill still can't walk. Man, it's like it's pretty bad. New coach, too. Dulcich?

SPEAKER_00

I thought they had somebody else. I could be wrong.

SPEAKER_02

No, no. John who left. Waller left. Waller.

SPEAKER_00

Maybe I'm just thinking of the cloud.

SPEAKER_02

Waller was there last year. He got a lot of uh catches, but yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I think obviously it's a two-hor team race. Um it it there's two questions it comes down to. Number one, are the Patriots were the Patriots really just a product of their schedule? Yes. And number two, was Sean McDermott the problem in Buffalo? Whatever the answer to those questions are determines who wins the East this year.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, they just they just literally just hired his OC. What a terrible I knew you're a Bills guy. I didn't like the hire.

SPEAKER_00

The hires like I think we could have done better.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, you know how many people were wanting to go coach Josh Allen?

SPEAKER_00

That's what I was just about to say. Like, we have such more draw than the Raiders, than the Cardinals, than all these other teams. Ten new head coaches this year. Ten new teams with a new head coach. You're telling me the best we could get was Joe Brady.

SPEAKER_02

Right. Yeah, there's never been a coach.

SPEAKER_00

Like, he is literally. Just gonna do whatever Brandon Bean tells him to do. That's all Brandon Bean wants is somebody to control. I'm gonna be optimistic because it's that time of year.

SPEAKER_02

Well, you have Josh Allen, you can always be optimistic. You know, it's one of those it's the same thing we're talking about with Drew Brees earlier. Like you could just always, you're always gonna have a chance to win, you know. So hey, what do you think? What's your order?

SPEAKER_00

Um I'm must I'm gonna go with the Bills. I can't not, you know. Um I don't think the Patriots offensive line is very good. I think we have a very good offensive line. Obviously, we have the quarterback advantage. I don't obviously.

SPEAKER_02

Drake may was second in MVP voting last year. I mean, I agree with you, but I wouldn't say obviously.

SPEAKER_00

Josh Allen's the best player in football.

SPEAKER_02

I would not say obviously.

SPEAKER_00

Josh Allen's the best player in football.

SPEAKER_02

Patrick Mahomes is the best player until he's not.

SPEAKER_00

He's he hadn't been relevant in like three years.

SPEAKER_02

When what has Josh Allen done?

SPEAKER_00

Had an MVP?

SPEAKER_02

We just talked earlier. Drew Brees never had MVP, it's not all that. I mean I'm gonna die.

SPEAKER_00

I'm gonna stand by Josh Allen being the best player in football right now.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, I don't think it's an awful thing, but I don't think you can say obviously they have a better quarterback when the guy almost won MVP last year by one vote.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and you still had Josh Allen higher on your quarterback list.

SPEAKER_02

I think Josh Allen's better. You said obviously, I don't think it's obviously.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

They have more than one good season.

SPEAKER_02

With that being said, I have the Bills also winning the division.

SPEAKER_00

Dude, and again, I know this is like the optimistic time of year and all that jazz, but DJ Moore looks dang good in camp.

SPEAKER_02

Derrick Carr looked good in camp for the Saints one year, dude.

SPEAKER_00

Don't tell me that. Don't tell me that. I'm just saying, I wouldn't uh We got uh Drew Brees' offensive coordinator is our offensive coordinator, Pete Carmichael.

SPEAKER_02

Oh what? That's bad. That's actually bad.

SPEAKER_00

I don't think so. He's not calling plays.

SPEAKER_02

Well, what's he do?

SPEAKER_00

I don't know what he's doing. He's not calling plays, though.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, Drew Brees and Josh Allen have really similar play types. I think DJ Moore's either it's gonna be one of two ways. He's gonna be a nobody or he's gonna absolutely smash. I think it's gonna be.

SPEAKER_00

I think he's gonna smash. I just told me don't do what Diggs does.

SPEAKER_02

I think it's gonna be one of two things. I don't think it's gonna be in the middle. I think he's either gonna be an awesome, like they're gonna connect a lot, or it's gonna be like a nothing burger.

SPEAKER_00

So I could just see him doing what Diggs does and that he balls out in the regular season and then disappears in the playoffs. But when there's no one else to to to take attention away, you can just focus DJ Moore, and then you're banking on not losing to Dalton Kincaid and Khalil Shakurie and Josh Palmer and those cats, but So you like uh you like the Bills, obviously.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, I couldn't can't believe you shouldn't.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I think the Patriots might have gotten worse.

SPEAKER_02

I mean they made the Super Bowl. Like I'm saying, like, I don't know if you'd get better.

SPEAKER_00

Roster wise. They lost Diggs.

SPEAKER_02

Added AJ Brown, that's a net positive.

SPEAKER_00

Keep forgetting about that.

SPEAKER_02

It's definitely a net positive. AJ Brown doesn't move me. They added Dodds.

SPEAKER_00

I know it's high.

SPEAKER_02

AJ Brown over Diggs.

SPEAKER_00

I he's better than Diggs, but like I I'm lower on AJ Brown than most probably are. I think he's the same player. I think he is Diggs four years ago, three years ago. Just a diva who wants the ball. And then when he doesn't get the ball, he's gonna get pissed and leave. There's gonna come a point in time where he doesn't get the ball every play.

SPEAKER_02

I think he's going back to his old coach Vravel, though. That might be it might work out a little better.

SPEAKER_00

He's a defensive coach.

SPEAKER_02

You don't think that matters with like uh respect for your head coach? You think he respected Sirianni? No. Or Jalen Hurts?

SPEAKER_00

No. I don't know. I I I'm telling you, I think he's got Dobbs.

SPEAKER_02

I think Dobbs is also better than any receiver they had last year. I couldn't, I mean, I mean, straight up, I couldn't tell you anything about their defense getting better and all that. So I mean, or getting worse, getting better, I don't know, but their offense definitely got better this offseason. Again, with all this being said, I think the Bills are winning the division. So like that's my pick.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, the the Patriots are gonna have a first place schedule. I think that will hurt them. Obviously, that'll hurt them a little bit, but I think that'll cost them some games. I think they're very ahead of schedule. And a lot of times in sports, you see teams get ahead of schedule and then they get complacent. You see it a lot in the NBA, like when the Hawks made the uh Eastern Conference Finals, like 2021, and everyone's like, this team is obviously not a championship team. But you know, they made they made it to game six at the Easter Conference Finals, and so in their minds we're we're one game away from making it. But I you know, uh obviously nothing was there. And then they they coasted for the next two or three years and nothing happened, and then they got stuck and now they're hungry start over. I I think you could see that for the Patriots as well.

SPEAKER_02

So Bills. Bills, Patriots, Jets, Dolphins, that's my order.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I agree. Definitely. Let's move to the NFC. We'll start the North? Let's save the North. Let's go East.

SPEAKER_02

MFC East.

SPEAKER_00

I think there's a clear worst team.

SPEAKER_02

I think it could be either the Commanders or the Giants.

SPEAKER_00

See, Commanders are the ones teams. Like, is Jaden Daniels gonna be healthy?

SPEAKER_02

Their defense was so bad last year, too, dude.

SPEAKER_00

I think they got Sonny Styles.

SPEAKER_02

Um, I'd put the Giants, obviously, I'm a I'm a Jaden Daniels fan, so I would definitely put the Giants last, but I mean, I can see it, the Commanders being last with that defense. One bad year. I think Dan Quinn, the coach, will be out.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he's definitely on the hot seat. I don't understand, like, I guess the best available, but Arvo Reese with the Giants made no sense to me. Like, that is the one position they do not need is Edge. Except Brian Burns, they have Kayvon Thivodeau, they have Abdul Carter. I'm guessing they're hoping Abdul or uh Arvel Reese can play like weak linebacker something.

SPEAKER_02

They definitely just took the best player available.

SPEAKER_00

But just did not fit them at all.

SPEAKER_02

Right, yeah. They definitely just they just it seemed like they definitely did not think they didn't think he was gonna be there, so they just at five, so they just picked him. But who do you have winning this division?

SPEAKER_00

I have Dallas. Dem Boys. I do I hate the Cowboys is insane, and then they added Caleb Downs this year.

SPEAKER_02

If their defense could be like 18th, they win the. I'm just not a Sirianna's my least favorite NFL head coach, not because he's bad, just because like I don't like him. I don't think Hurts is very good.

SPEAKER_00

I still don't believe in Jalen Hurts.

SPEAKER_02

You lose AJ Brown, who did I mean, losing AJ Brown and adding like almost nobody. They added Mackay Limit in the draft, but he's already hurt. I'm not high on him either. He's already hurt, so he hadn't practiced in a while. Like obviously, you know.

SPEAKER_00

I think Devontae Smith has some of the most pressure on him this season. Why? Because he has to be the guy. I I don't think the the Eagles trade AJ Brown I know there was drama off-field drama and stuff, but I don't think the Eagles trade AJ Brown if they don't think Devontae Smith can be a true number one.

SPEAKER_02

I think he can I mean I definitely think he can be, though. I mean, I think he's awesome. Amyet Legend. Shout out.

SPEAKER_00

That's true, that's true. How often do you see like true just deep threats be super successful as wide receiver one in the NFL, though?

SPEAKER_02

He ain't a deep, he is not a true deep threat. That's a that's a crazy take. That's a crazy take.

SPEAKER_00

So little. He can't run over the middle.

SPEAKER_02

Jalen Hurts can't throw over the middle.

SPEAKER_00

I guess you're right. That's a very that's a very good point.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, this guy won the highs, but he's not just a deep baller.

SPEAKER_00

In college, though. He he's still the same player. Has he lived up to his potential in the NFL, would you say? I wouldn't. I don't I'm not blown away by anything Devontae Smith has done in the NFL.

SPEAKER_02

I think he has.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know, man.

SPEAKER_02

You just talked about AJ Brown being a diva. He has a whole diva. He never says Devontae Smith never says anything. Just goes out there and plays. It's kind of hard, it's hard to first off when your quarterback's Jalen Hurts. And second off, when AJ Brown's on the other side crying and whining because he's not getting the ball.

SPEAKER_00

No, look, I'm fully prepared to say I was wrong. You know, I I think he could very well be bossman to the next level of play. I'm just saying from what I've seen, I'm not blown away by it. And I think for him to have won the Heisman, I I just have I've expected more up to this point, I guess, is what I'm saying.

SPEAKER_02

It's a lot of just where he's drafted, where he goes. Like, what if the Bills drafted him? You know what I mean? Like he could be like what if he was in Puka Nakua spot and got all of that volume, like Puka got his rookie year. Like, I just feel like I feel like a lot of what we consider being a good receiver comes down to volume. How many like you gotta throw the ball to him? I mean, I think he's awesome.

SPEAKER_00

But again, yeah, no, I like I said, I I'm prepared to be proven wrong.

SPEAKER_02

He's from around here, so I mean he's up he's upstreet from you. Less than 30 minutes away? He could have borrowed some eggs when y'all were back in the day. Oh, yeah, it's probably about 20 minutes away to his hometown.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, real quick. Have you seen the new Bills uniforms?

SPEAKER_02

I have not. Have you seen those gray ones? Are they good?

SPEAKER_00

I want to get your live reaction on the podcast of the Bills, Nichols City jerseys. Live raw reaction? Yeah. Okay, ready?

SPEAKER_02

I don't like them. They're terrible. What is the helmet, too?

SPEAKER_00

You know like the red on the Bills logo?

SPEAKER_02

Oh gosh.

SPEAKER_00

It's just that.

SPEAKER_02

Oh no.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I'm seeing Josh Allen wearing them at their pro day practice or their uh final practice of training camp, and I'm still not really high on them.

SPEAKER_02

Oh no.

SPEAKER_00

They're so bad, dude. I'm sorry. Anyway, the Cowboys though, year two under their coach, healthy C D, Javante Williams resurgence. And like you said, that if that defense is just average or even slightly below average, I think they got plenty of of power on offense to make something happen.

SPEAKER_02

I don't, I mean, I I agree. I think the Cowboys are in for a big year. I mean, I think they're in for a big year. You know, if Dak chokes in the playoffs, like that has nothing to do with winning the division. Yeah. So I definitely go with the Cowboys. We can agree there.

SPEAKER_00

Adding Caleb Downs a top five player in the draft, in my opinion. Getting him at 10 was a steal.

SPEAKER_02

He's I mean, he's a good player. I don't think he's just gonna completely change the game.

SPEAKER_00

I don't either, but he's he'll be their best defensive player, probably.

SPEAKER_02

Yes. Yes, definitely.

SPEAKER_00

Even as a rookie.

SPEAKER_02

Definitely. And they got uh edge too.

SPEAKER_00

Malachi Lawrence out of UCF. It's one of those other edge. There was like eight edge rushers at the end of the first round, beginning of the second round. They're all probably the same.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I think I mean, I just think they're gonna be better. And I think Cowboys, Eagles, Commanders, and Giants is my order. Pretty well, no, not chalky because the Cowboys winning are definitely not the favorite. So that's my order for that one.

SPEAKER_00

I'll I'll agree to that. All right, the West. On with the Super Bowl champion, Seahawks. Best team in football last year.

SPEAKER_02

This is a pretty clear one. Yeah. The Rams and four and four the Cardinals. The second worst team in football.

SPEAKER_00

Hey, Carson Beck. Why is Jeremiah Love not playing in the preseason?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

I was like excited to watch that game because I wanted to see him, and then he didn't even play.

SPEAKER_02

I know, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But it's not like he's a guaranteed starter.

SPEAKER_02

They have a ton of running backs. That was a terrible draft. Jeremiah Love is awesome, it's probably the best player in the draft, in my opinion. But the Cardinals, you don't pick a running back three when you have Yeah, look at Genty last year. You know he's the highest paid running back of like ever.

SPEAKER_00

It's ridiculous.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's crazy. Who would you like the Niners have already had a hundred injuries in Cape?

SPEAKER_00

Do you buy into the sub make the electric substation thing leading to them getting injured? Have you seen this?

SPEAKER_02

You know, I didn't, but I'm starting to.

SPEAKER_00

Like, I don't know, I don't know the science behind it. Like, I don't know how that would lead to injuries, but if there is some sort of way, like it's hard to say no. Because Bosa's hurt, Ricky Pearsall's out for the year.

SPEAKER_02

But like everybody they drafted the receiver stribling, he's already hurt. He's out, yeah. Charlie Kirk. I mean, Christian Kirk is C.

SPEAKER_00

Kirk is back. What?

SPEAKER_02

Christian Kirk is hurt. Like their whole team is already hurt. So like they had to resign Debo. I probably, if you'd asked me like three weeks ago. Well, Debo's gonna get hurt too. If you asked me three weeks ago, I would just put the 49ers second, but I'm gonna have to go with Seattle second.

SPEAKER_00

Seattle lost a lot. I know.

SPEAKER_02

Especially defense. I was big on the 49ers last year, but you were, and I wasn't. I don't even know what to do. And I was wrong. I don't know. No, they got they made the playoffs station got blasted by Seattle, but everybody did.

SPEAKER_00

Everybody did. Do you think I'm just a pretty believer? Do you think even I don't know if I can be.

SPEAKER_02

Well, their coach got a bad wreck. It's true.

SPEAKER_00

The Niners coach, I guess he's I guess he's gonna be alright. Was that the substation?

SPEAKER_02

They said he's concussed.

SPEAKER_00

I um do you think that even if the Seahawks had kept most of their roster intact, do you think they'd have been a a true contender? Do you think that's just a one-hit wonder kind of thing?

SPEAKER_02

True contender because the defense.

SPEAKER_00

The defense was good.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's uh I mean losing Kubiak hurts, but I think the defense is so good that it's just hard to repeat anyway, but I don't think they're a one-hit wonder.

SPEAKER_00

You know, I mean they Here's a question. Who's the best coach in this division? Three probably the three best coaches in the league.

SPEAKER_02

I'm gonna say Shanahan.

SPEAKER_00

Really?

SPEAKER_02

Because of how he never has like 30. He has 30 players that get hurt every year, and somehow they're really good every year. I mean, McVeigh, I get so tired of the media talking about McVeigh. They have one, they've won one Super Bowl.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. He has the LA Rub, so he gets all the best free agents, or not he, but the Rams get the best free agents and all that stuff.

SPEAKER_02

They've won one Super Bowl in like Matt in the prime of Matt Stafford. I mean, like he gets talked about like he's like Bill Parcell's and like the greatest coaches ever.

SPEAKER_00

I think when like pre-Stafford, like Jared Goff era, I think he was a lot better coach. But I think he's I don't know if like he's just been figured out or if you know if he hadn't really been able to adapt. I I I like you said, I think Shanahan's probably the best. I think Mike, Mike McDonald's the best defensive coach.

SPEAKER_02

McDonald has a chance to to prove himself in the next few years of being a I mean, obviously he's a top coach, but like to be like the top coach, he he's got a chance to prove himself. I mean, he's on a good he's got a good start. I mean for sure. He's won the Super Bowl.

SPEAKER_00

I think you had the Seahawks second.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, and that's it. That's only because there's been so many injuries. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I mean they're gonna put the 49ers over the Seahawks.

SPEAKER_02

I want to. I might change my opinion by the time the year starts if people ultimately end up being.

SPEAKER_00

He's still about a month to lock it in.

SPEAKER_02

But right, if people ultimately end up being healthy and ready to go. I think he's supposed to be ready to go. Really? Yeah. That shocks me. New medicine and everything. It's just crazy. That's true, that's true.

SPEAKER_00

But I think that uh he wore it late last season. Like we 15, 14, right? Something late.

SPEAKER_02

It was late. I like the Mike Evans edition.

SPEAKER_00

I think he's washed.

SPEAKER_02

Oh no, I don't think he is. It's interesting. He's slow. He came back last year. He's a red zone thread. He got hurt and came back last year and was really good. I don't know if the stats back up your claim that he's washed. The only thing that claims he's washed is he keeps injuring the same hamstring. Which hamstring injuries when you're by a power plant, it's not good.

SPEAKER_00

Does that enhance the likelihood there? It does.

SPEAKER_02

It's got to, huh?

SPEAKER_00

It's enhancing everybody else's.

SPEAKER_02

I'd say it has to. So I mean.

SPEAKER_00

What's your opinion on the on the uh Miles Garrett trade?

SPEAKER_02

I like I like what the Rams are doing, and I like what the Browns did. I like it both. Who you think won? I think both this is one of the rare trade times both teams won. If you're the Rams, dude, I think you have one more year of Stafford. You go all in for a Super Bowl. Like I I never blame anybody for doing it. And I think I kind of think if Stafford leaves, so does McVeigh. I think he'll be done. I think I think this is like the last ride for him. We'll come back to this. It could be a terrible take.

SPEAKER_00

Like we said we said that when they won the Super Bowl, though. Like, oh, they went all out for this one year and now they have nothing. And then, you know, four years later they're right back in it.

SPEAKER_02

Because they keep going all in every year. I mean, every year they go all in and all in. Now trade for Miles Garrett is the most all in of any of them. But it's like when they traded for Von Miller.

SPEAKER_00

But all in, I don't know why they drafted Ty Simpson 15th, but that's that was the most confusing thing of the offseason to me. Like everything they did said we're all in right now, and then they drafted Ty Simpson.

SPEAKER_02

Everybody was so confused by that.

SPEAKER_00

I don't think he's gonna be very good.

SPEAKER_02

I don't either. But I could also think McVeigh's gonna leave, so I don't think McVeigh's gonna be his coach. Yeah. But that's the West. So what we can go to the South.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, you know who I'm picking.

SPEAKER_00

I dude, I'm I don't think it's a hot take. I'm I don't either. There's been a worst to first team every year.

SPEAKER_02

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

For a long for about a few years now.

SPEAKER_02

You got the Bryce Young led Panthers. You got the I mean, is there anything worse than having a quarterback battle between Michael Penix and Tua? The Falcons?

SPEAKER_00

I don't think so.

SPEAKER_02

Baker Mayfield has dealt with a lot of injuries recently. They didn't look very good. He's beefing with his team right now, going out in the media talking about how he hadn't signed a contract, and then the Saints, like. I mean, we're not gonna be awesome. We're not gonna win the Super Bowl, but like the unknown of Tyler Shuck is also at least exciting.

SPEAKER_00

So I mean they were the only team that objectively got better. And the South.

SPEAKER_02

I agree, yeah. Our draft was good. Our draft is good. The Panthers got better too. Our draft is good. I think I think it's kind of obvious, or not not obvious, but I think like this was one of the easier orders for me to pick. Saints, Bucks, Panthers, Falcons. That's my order here. What about you?

SPEAKER_00

The Falcons have such a good team other than quarterback.

SPEAKER_02

Dude, every year. I know. I know every year. It's not it. Every year the media, everything talks about how the Falcons are this dark horse sleeper team, and they're terrible every year.

SPEAKER_00

I'm I'm just debating between third and fourth. It's kind of weird.

SPEAKER_02

And I'm so tired of hearing about Kevin Stefansky, too. Like, what has he done other than he was a good coach because he knew to give Nick Chubb the ball 40 times when he was you know what I mean? Like, I don't know what Kevin Stevansky has done to be like this epic coach either. I think he's a good coach, but people acted like Well, he met the Browns relevant. The Browns weren't relevant. Like the last few years he was there. Again, he he was they were relevant when he gave the ball to Nick Chubb 40 times a game.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I think it's not that he's not a good coach, but I mean people act like he is the he's better than he's an he's an upgrade for sure.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yes. Definitely. I'll go Saints, Bucks, Falcons, Panthers.

SPEAKER_02

Really? You think they're the Panthers won the division last year.

SPEAKER_00

I just they lost Chuba. Not Chuba, Rico Dowdle.

SPEAKER_02

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

They have T M access.

SPEAKER_02

Jonathan, Jonathan Brooks, their rookie, well, second year running back. He's towards DCO. But I like I love Bryce Young the person. And I hate Alabama, but I love Bryce Young. But he's just I just don't think he's a good player. Like I like he's a really good human being, but it sucks because I kind of do tier four Bryce Young. He's been through a lot, but it ain't.

SPEAKER_00

I think it's one of those like it just come down to who wins the division games. And I don't know. I just I don't see them performing as well as they did last year. I think last year had a lot go right.

SPEAKER_02

This is this division is like the uh Titans division. Any team.

SPEAKER_00

You could tell me I think they're lower quality than the AFC South. Oh, they're definitely the same, the same of like it's anybody's race.

SPEAKER_02

Right, but I'm saying that like it's the same in terms of you could tell me anybody wins it, and I'd be like, alright, you know, like so. But yeah, this division is definitely the worst in football, no doubt. And that's hard to say because that there's a division with the Jets and the Dolphins in it, but the Bills and the Patriots are so good that this is definitely the worst division, but I'm glad the Saints are in it. That means somebody can actually do something.

SPEAKER_00

Is this the most optimism you've had in the post-Drew Breeze era?

SPEAKER_02

Yes, because we always knew. Even before Dark Horse. No, because the first year we were like five and oak and Sean Payton was still there. But since that's like eight, it was a Jameis games. No, that was last that was last two years ago. Yeah. But there was the first year after Breeze uh Jameis was taken over, and Sean Payton was still there, and Devin White, we're like five and oh or four and one, and Devin White just uh hip drop tackled Jameis and towards ACL, and that then it was just it was bad. He got signed by somebody. Vikings, maybe. I think I I did see Devin White got signed by some. He's probably well, I mean Yeah, he was so funny.

SPEAKER_00

LSU legend.

SPEAKER_02

LSU legend for sure. What about probably the top two division? The NFC North.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I'd I'd probably say the best in total.

SPEAKER_00

I think so.

SPEAKER_02

The Cardinals take down the NFC West a little bit. I don't think any team does for this one. So as you know, I was a JJ McCarthy guy. Wrong.

SPEAKER_00

Big nine guy over here. I think the Vikings are the worst team in that division.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I mean, I don't think that's a that's not a hot take at all, though.

SPEAKER_00

Or JJ. Gotta get him out.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and Kyler Murray. Do you think Kyler starts? Yes.

SPEAKER_00

I do too. I don't think Kyler Murray's a bad quarterback. I said this last year.

SPEAKER_02

He's not bad, but I think they're c I said this last year a million times. Their coach is good. Their coach has been able to figure out every quarterback except JJ McCarthy. Nick Mullins, like you name it.

SPEAKER_00

Max Brosmer.

SPEAKER_02

Right. Yeah, every quarterback he's won games with, but except him. Um we can both I agree. Vikings list. What's your third?

SPEAKER_00

I'm gonna like it. You're not gonna but I have the Packers next.

SPEAKER_02

I have the Bears third.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, really?

SPEAKER_02

First place schedule.

SPEAKER_00

It's true. I I think they're the best team in the division. I think the receivers are so good. Even with losing DJ Moore.

SPEAKER_02

A dunze had that foot injury, dude, and that is that's a foot injury that affects your whole career. Allen Robinson, former receiver, came out and said that like you can still play, but it just it does affect you like your whole career. You you're never the same. I'm also just not a Kill Williams fan. I can't hide bias. But I mean, I think that with the first place schedule, they're doing. For a little bit of regression. They won all kinds of crazy games. They remind me of the commanders from the year before. Yeah. They won just crazy games. I still think, I mean, I think three teams make the playoffs in this division. But I would put the Bears third.

SPEAKER_00

So you have the Vikings, I mean the Packers winning or the Lions winning? Lions. What changed for the game?

SPEAKER_02

A lot of it is schedule.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

They have the easiest schedule. They have the easiest schedule in the whole NFL. The Saints are second. I mean, both a fourth place schedule. You know, back to the Saints. They lost the last game of the year to the Falcons. If they won that game, they would have picked, like, instead of eight, they would have picked like 11th and they would have had a second place schedule this year.

SPEAKER_00

Wow.

SPEAKER_02

I know. So we got the eighth pick and at the fourth place. So ultimately, like I was kind of cheering for us to lose. I mean, we were out of the playoffs, so it's kind of like, and that was that was the best loss we could have had. But anyway, I think the Lions.

SPEAKER_00

Their defense just doesn't move me.

SPEAKER_02

I'm not the biggest Dan Campbell guy either. I like him. I think he's awesome. I don't know how good of a coach he is, actual coach. But I think, dude, their schedule. They don't play a true outdoor game till week 17.

SPEAKER_00

Really?

SPEAKER_02

And Jared Goff is really good indoors and bad. So it's more of a schedule pick. It's more of a schedule pick for me. But I think the Lions um will win. And I think the Packers will come in second. What about you?

SPEAKER_00

I was gonna say Bears, Lions, Packers, Vikings.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, I can't argue with you. I mean I think it's all up in there other than the fourth. I think the Vikings, like, if you told me Kyler was pretty good and they end up like second, I mean, that's all right. You know what I mean? Like, I don't think that's uh I actually was at Minneapolis this summer, and they're like, if you look at their stadium from a certain view, it's a it's like a their stadium's built like a sinking ship. And the in Minneapolis, like the Vikings is super cool.

SPEAKER_00

I do like their stadium. Their stadium looks really cool.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. It's when if you look at it from like the river, it's built like a sinking ship. It's it's pretty cool. But um, but the Lions, that would be so I have two fourth place to first place uh teams, Lions and Saints.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I don't think those are crazy.

SPEAKER_02

I think that um the Saints schedule, dude. Listen to this schedule. So first off, they play at the Lions week one and at the Ravens. I don't know why the NFL hates the Saints for that, but I mean it might be the only game that the Ravens are fully healthy. I mean, at Lions, but listen to this. After that. Raiders, Falcons, Vikings, Giants, Steelers, bye week, Browns, Panthers.

SPEAKER_00

They have the Cardinals eventually, too. Right?

SPEAKER_02

That is a seven-game stretch of terrible teams. And guess how many of those games are at home?

SPEAKER_00

I know they play three straight home after the first two away games.

SPEAKER_02

Out of those seven games, six are at home. Well, well, five are at home. One of them is a home game, but it's overseas. Overseas. Right. But I mean. And you yeah, you end the year with Panthers, Bucks, Cardinals, Falcons, Bucks. I mean, like, their schedule is super, this ain't schedule is super easy. I just had to go back to that because that's that stretches.

SPEAKER_00

Parks playing in the South.

SPEAKER_02

That's stretch, yeah. I mean, that is, especially having a fourth place schedule. I mean, the Lions have a stretch of Panthers, Jets, or Jets, Panthers, Cardinals. They play the Dolphins, like Titans, Giants.

SPEAKER_00

They play the NFC North this year. The Bills do.

SPEAKER_02

The Saints do, too. Because the Lions, um, the Lions in the fourth place game?

SPEAKER_00

The Lions in them too? Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah. We're well, the Bills division and our division might be paired up with the North. The Saints and the Bills.

SPEAKER_00

We play the NFC North and the AFC West.

SPEAKER_02

The Saints play the yeah, the NFC North, the Vikings, and they play the we play the AFC North. Browns, Bengals, Ravens, and uh Gotcha.

SPEAKER_00

Well, you have it. There's our division predictions. Who are your AFC teams? Bills. We both said Bills. We both said, or I said Chargers, I said Broncos, you said Chargers, I said.

SPEAKER_02

We both said Bengals. We both said Bengals and Bengals. And you said Jaguars, and I said Texans.

SPEAKER_00

So I have Bills, Bengals, Broncos, Jaguars.

SPEAKER_02

And I have Bills, Bengals, Texans, Chargers.

SPEAKER_00

So who are your three wildcard teams?

SPEAKER_02

Three wildcard teams. The Broncos.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I'll say the Chargers. Patriots. Patriots. Ravens, I guess.

SPEAKER_02

Ravens or the Colts.

SPEAKER_00

So crazy because on paper, like that's not even a con that's not even a conversation. Who cares?

SPEAKER_02

I'll go out on a limb and say the Colts. Okay. Who cares? Especially because the Ravens were a Super Bowl pick last year and they were terrible.

SPEAKER_00

And Derrick Henry has to regress eventually, right?

SPEAKER_02

He is unbelievable. He's definitely the best running back of the last 10 years, no doubt. Alright, what about the NF in the NFC? I have the Cowboys. We both have the Cowboys. Cowboys, Lions, Saints, and Rams. So we both have the Rams, yes.

SPEAKER_00

And I had um Bears instead of Lions. So my wildcard teams, I'll say the um Seahawks.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, this is hard.

SPEAKER_00

I'll say the Eagles. And I'll say Lions.

SPEAKER_02

I'm saying the Eagles and Packers. I know earlier I said that I think three teams make the playoffs in the North. It'd be between the Bears and the Seattle. Jake Dowd, if you're watching this, one of my friends, big Bears fan, they're missing the playoffs. I'm going with Seattle.

SPEAKER_00

Dang. Second Seattle. I mean, either So you think they overperformed last year?

SPEAKER_02

I do. I do. But one of the I mean if our division winners win, I mean, like a really good team has to miss the playoffs. Because somebody from the NFC ha NFC South has to make it. Yeah. So I mean, that's we didn't even include the uh the you know the 49ers. Like, I mean that's definitely a uh I'm excited for the year.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, who's your Super Bowl?

SPEAKER_02

I don't think you can possibly not pick the Rams. Pick the Bills, dude.

SPEAKER_00

I I don't think you can.

SPEAKER_02

I'm going to say the Bills because I'm the Bills may win it, but I think that's bad thinking if you say the Bills.

SPEAKER_00

There's there is a lot, a lot, a lot going against us this year. No, no rookie head coach has ever won the Super Bowl.

SPEAKER_02

Um I mean, that is that was such a bizarre hunter. Bizarre. I think I'm going with a rematch. Rams and Bengals, and I'm gonna take the Rams. I'm gonna be chalky. I'm gonna be chalky. I'm gonna be chalky and just take the Rams. Oh, wait, wait.

SPEAKER_00

I'm gonna say the Rams, and I I think the AFC gets pretty wide open.

SPEAKER_02

I'm between the Rams and Bengals or Rams and Chargers. I think it's a big year for the Chargers.

SPEAKER_00

I just can't. I'd take the Bills over the Chargers.

SPEAKER_02

I just don't think you can pick the Bills, dude.

SPEAKER_00

I'm going to because I'm blind bias, and I will be till the day I die.

SPEAKER_02

But I mean, that has to the favorite has to be Bills versus Rams, right?

SPEAKER_00

That's gotta be the favorite for like I'd I'd imagine the Ravens are probably still the favorite. No way. No way.

SPEAKER_02

Lamar has clearly shown regression. Honestly, honestly, no, I would say that the Chiefs have a better chance of being the favorite just because they have proven it over and over, no matter how bad their teams are. But I I mean I disagree with it, but I always I think the Bills have to it Bills Rams has to be the favorite. But I think it's gonna be either Chargers and Bengals. It's gonna put be versus the Rams. I don't think uh I mean the Rams just have the best team, dude.

SPEAKER_00

There's no other like only thing stopping the Bengals is it is the Bengals. So I don't I don't hate that.

SPEAKER_02

I agree.

SPEAKER_00

Their O-line hasn't gotten any better that I can think of.

SPEAKER_02

They've added a few defensive pieces, though. I actually it's literally just health. Like, I mean and honestly, it's the same with the Chargers to me, dude. It's the it's the health. I mean, Herbert is like nobody can question the toughness of Herbert. Like nobody.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, that doesn't really do a whole lot for me personally.

SPEAKER_02

I'm just giving them a compliment.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, Jonathan Allen, Boye Mafe, and Brian Cook.

SPEAKER_02

If you're picking the Bills, you can't say anything about me picking the Chargers.

SPEAKER_00

Although I'm picking the Bengals, probably, but those are people the Bengals had on defense that I think are pretty good.

SPEAKER_02

Um When do you think the Bills are gonna win a Super Bowl? You picked them every year for four years.

SPEAKER_00

I didn't I you heard me. I'm I said it. I'm blind bias.

SPEAKER_02

All right, you can't pick the Bills who you'd pick.

SPEAKER_00

Probably the Bengals.

SPEAKER_02

Bengals, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I I there's a difference between being biased and acknowledging your bias. I'm acknowledging my bias to say that the Bills are probably not the favorite, but I'm not going to not pick them. Does that make sense?

SPEAKER_02

That's why we gotta get a pick if the Bills weren't in it. So the Bengals, okay. And I'll go Bengals or Chargers. But honestly, right now the Chargers are kind of a popular pick, and that never goes well. You know, when everybody says when everybody says there's when everybody says you know, there's sleeper picks are Chargers, but so many people say it it's not a sleeper pick anymore. That's how it is. Right now, but just the coach, man. For the Chargers?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I don't believe in. I'm not a Jim Harbaugh guy.

SPEAKER_02

I think Mike McDaniel does make a difference. I think he's a really good OC. Maybe not a good head coach for I think Mike McDaniel's gonna get another shot somewhere.

SPEAKER_00

I've said that I've I've said he's a coordinator, he's not a head coach.

SPEAKER_02

I think he's gonna get another shot somewhere, though, at some point.

SPEAKER_00

But I think he needs to wiseen up.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know what he's gotta do. He's gotta do something. He wears capries, dude.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly. He hits vapes on the sideline. MVP prediction.

SPEAKER_02

You gotta respect his ability to not care.

SPEAKER_00

That's true.

SPEAKER_02

If we're taking I mean, Stafford won last year, I'm gonna take Burrow.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

If we're predicting, just kind of if we're predicting them to make the if we're predicting them to make the Super Bowl, then like if Stafford won it last year, they probably wouldn't give it to him. You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_00

So I I think if Lamar has a halfway decent year, they give it to him just because the media's all over him. Although ESPN did file Ryan Clark, so thank God maybe not.

SPEAKER_02

Thank God. Don't get me started.

SPEAKER_00

Prime like 2020 or uh 2019 LSU, I loved Ryan Clark. But he's the most biased sports media person in the game right now. Yeah, I don't know. It's I get so tired of hearing him talk.

SPEAKER_02

I'm gonna say too much, it's gonna have to be cut, so I'm not gonna say anything.

SPEAKER_00

I think we're thinking the same thing.

SPEAKER_02

Your dad loves him.

SPEAKER_00

Well, yeah, because of his podcast.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I text your dad about it all the time.

SPEAKER_00

Do you know who Peter Schrager is?

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I know what you're talking about. The back and forth. I know what you're talking about. When he was like You didn't play?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. That's that's coming from a non-player. Like, dude.

SPEAKER_02

Dude, I've been down the rabbit hole of Ryan Clark, bro.

SPEAKER_00

Him and Marcus uh Marcus Spears on Monday mornings after every LSU game in 2019 was so awesome. It was every Monday morning. Like Get Up never talks about LSU.

SPEAKER_02

Best year of my life, dude. No.

SPEAKER_00

Dude, that was like prime. That was like fresh year college.

SPEAKER_02

That was the best year. No, yeah, that 2019 was my senior year, the last my baseball season, 2019, the spring, and then the the fall was my first semester of college. Dude, it was awesome. Oh, it's the best year, no doubt.

SPEAKER_00

How many of those games did you go to?

SPEAKER_02

All of them.

SPEAKER_00

You went to every home home game?

SPEAKER_02

I went to every home game. I went to the game at Bama. I went to the semifinals and the Natty. It was just a it was just a crazy. Well, we had season tickets that year.

SPEAKER_00

Uh that's yeah.

SPEAKER_02

But that's like the one year though. We just kind of got lucky, dude. Uh-huh. Like, I mean, we expected to be good, but nobody expected that. No. It's the greatest team of all time. But once uh, but dad's business partner lives over in Tuscaloosa. That's right.

SPEAKER_00

I remember you saying that.

SPEAKER_02

So we yeah, dude. So awesome.

SPEAKER_00

Trump was there.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Forgot about that too.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, Trump was there. It was crazy.

SPEAKER_00

Saw a thing as like a new drinking game. Watch LSU versus ABA 2019 and take a shot every time an NFL player's name is said on the broadcast. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. It's like eight times.

SPEAKER_02

Dude, if you go watch the highlights, it's like eight minutes. There's two players that stand out. Clyde, Edwards E. Larry was just unbelievable that game. And dude, Devontae Smith cooked Stingley up and down the field that game, dude. I didn't realize. I didn't remember. But being at the game, you don't really see as much as on TV. Dude, he cooked him up and down the field. But what a game. I mean, yeah, that the NFL talent there is good.

SPEAKER_00

So there's two guys in the NFL that their careers to me will always be grouped together because they play the same position and they were both drafted in the same year. You know who I'm talking about?

SPEAKER_02

I do know who you're talking about.

SPEAKER_00

Jameer Gibbs and Bijan Robinson.

SPEAKER_02

Uh I'm not gonna have a strong take. Who do you think is better? They're both amazing, dude. I'm not gonna have a strong take, dude.

SPEAKER_00

I don't like like they're you had to pick one, though. If you have the 101 in fantasy, who are you picking?

SPEAKER_02

If I have the 101 in fantasy, I'm taking Gibbs, but that's not really who's the best player. Uh like I talked earlier, the Lion schedule is unbelievably easy.

SPEAKER_00

But I've seen B. John Robinson single-handedly win games. For a running back to do that is insane.

SPEAKER_02

Every time David Montgomery didn't play, Gibbs was like 150 plus. I mean, dude, they are unbelievable. This year after this year, I'll know.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I mean, they both got extensions this week and they both didn't make that much money.

SPEAKER_02

Tyler Algier isn't there for Bijan, and David Montgomery isn't there anymore.

SPEAKER_00

So I'm hoping that I think their careers are always gonna be overlapped because I remember was it 2022? 2021, whatever year it was, it was like everybody expected Bijan to go top 15, top 10, and he did. And then the Lions picked Jameer Gibbs, and it was like that was a that was a questionable pick. Nobody could believe it. I think he went like 14th. Yeah, and now he's like arguably the best running back in the league. Right. So Man, if I had to take a one. I think I'd take Bijan myself just because I've seen him I probably would too.

SPEAKER_02

I probably would too, but for fantasy, I I think I'd take Bijan, but for for fantasy, I would take uh Gibbs for the fantasy.

SPEAKER_00

There's too much um too many mouths to feed in Detroit. One of them signed like a $75 million deal, the other one like a $68 million deal. Zay Flowers signed a four-year $140 million deal.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, dude, I think that is most overrated player.

SPEAKER_00

One of the more overrated players in the league in the world.

SPEAKER_02

I wasn't happy when the Saints signed Olave. He was the sixth highest paid receiver. Olave is not the sixth best receiver in the league. But now he's like, three days later, he's like the tenth highest paid. Like Zay Flowers, all I hear about is what he could be every year.

SPEAKER_00

I just have never seen anything out of him either that's like blows me away.

SPEAKER_02

All I hear about is everybody talks about what he could be, and dude, it's like.

SPEAKER_00

You know who else I hear that about? Justin Herbert.

SPEAKER_02

We've seen it though. I don't we haven't seen Zay Flowers, dude.

SPEAKER_00

Justin Herbert's the biggest what if player in the league.

SPEAKER_02

No, he's not.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, in the playoffs, especially.

SPEAKER_02

It's like what is Yeah, what if Patrick Mahomes wasn't there? Exactly. No, that's a Josh Allen. What if Patrick Mahomes wasn't there, dude? How many would Josh Allen have?

SPEAKER_00

I don't know, man.

SPEAKER_02

I mean I agree that Herbert's gotten a lot of benefits of the doubts. You know, lost his tackle. What's going to be next? Like his girlfriend problems, you know what I mean? Something.

SPEAKER_00

But he's locking him, locking her down.

SPEAKER_02

There's always those, there's always that those players that like you can't never you can never like quit on. You always think are good, and he's just one of those for Pitts. It is what it is.

SPEAKER_00

Not for us, but there's there's people out there who still believe in Kyle Pitts.

SPEAKER_02

I like David Montgomery in fantasy this year.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know, man. I think it's just straight volume. Straight volume. That's true. That's a very good point.

SPEAKER_02

Touchdowns and volume. That's that's one of the reasons I do like David Montgomery this year. All fantasy is is about is volume. You know what I mean? Like two tight ends that go late. Isaiah Likely on the Giants and Chick-Econquo on Commanders. Jaden Daniels loves throwing to the tight end, dude. And he also loves throwing to the running back. Rashad White, I think he could be pretty good. Chick Aconquo and Isaiah Likely. I like them two at tight end late.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think I think fading tight end is the biggest uh strategy right now.

SPEAKER_02

The number one sleeper, though, for me, it's not even really sleeper anymore. He's getting so much hype, is Jonathan Brooks. Running back Carolina. He is He's so good. He was so good in college. I just hope the ACL tears don't completely derail his career. ACL tears are different than they used to be, you know?

SPEAKER_01

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_02

ACL tears are they're way better than an Achilles tear, you know what I mean? Like these These players bounce back pretty pretty quickly. They bounce back pretty quickly from um ACL's like nothing.

SPEAKER_00

Like obviously it still takes a while, but as far as like the get like post injury, they there's usually not much of a drop-off.

SPEAKER_02

Right, yeah. ACL now, it's crazy. Like Mahomes, dude, he's already back. He tore his ACL late. And he's already ready to go, man. It's like these the new medicine.

SPEAKER_00

It's weird that they were like, he might not play in the first preseason game. Like, why would he be playing preseason anyway?

SPEAKER_02

They just gotta have something to report, dude. I swear.

SPEAKER_00

I think uh yeah. I think the Raiders could be one of those shocking teams. Like, not to the level of the Saints, but just compete. I think they can compete.

SPEAKER_02

Nobody's expecting people are expecting the Saints to be better than the Raiders, you know? So I mean a hot take for me, I said it earlier on the about the Bears missing the playoffs. I think that's a that's a pretty good look, even though they probably will, but I think that's more of a possibility than people are saying. And I think that Geno Smith leads the Jets to like six wins, maybe more. Like I just not not a lot, honestly. Six wins, seven. Yeah, I just think that Geno Smith is I think he's decent. I like the weapons. He drafted a lot of receivers. Brees Hall is pretty good. And I'm not a Jets fan, or and they've been terrible for a long time, but who's your favorite rookie? Who I think can win rookie of the year?

SPEAKER_00

Just your favorite rookie.

SPEAKER_02

I really like Jadarian Price. Really? Seattle. He's awesome, dude. People don't know people don't realize how. He's probably got overlooked because of the just because of him, yeah. But he is he's really good. Um Jadarian Price is good. I love Sonny Styles so much. Oh, yeah, he's good for sure. Um and Ruben Miller. I was wanting, I mean, not even LSU bias. I wanted I wanted the Saints to take Monsor Dolane. He didn't fall to him, the Chiefs traded up, but would you rather have had him than Tyson? Yeah. I would and I don't that's not saying that he's better than Tyson. I just think the Saints, Kool-Aid McKinsey is their CB1. I mean, that ain't good. You know, you gotta have a lockdown corner in in to win in the NFL or a top two quarter quarterback. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And well, Shuck's gonna be there soon.

SPEAKER_02

Gosh, I don't know what we would do. That'd be amazing. But I think Monsour Delane is so good. And it showed like he got picked six. People traded up for him, but like he is that good, dude. He is no, he's legit. I mean, people wouldn't.

SPEAKER_00

If his brother plays had similar success this year for LSU.

SPEAKER_02

I know. Yeah, that's kind of crazy. I think I also think Quinsha Junkins, big year. Yeah. Big year for him.

SPEAKER_00

But he was so good at El Miss before he went to Ohio State. He went bad at Ohio State.

SPEAKER_02

Having Travion Henderson split carries right there, yep.

SPEAKER_00

I think uh Ruben Bain's one of the better prospects, too. I think he fell way higher, way lower than he should have.

SPEAKER_02

I know he has short arms, but he's gonna be one of those dudes that people look back on.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_02

And they're like, why didn't we pick him? Yeah, I mean, I could definitely see it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. All right. Well, I think that'll wrap us up for this week's episode of Haget Sports.

SPEAKER_02

Who dat?

SPEAKER_00

Whoat go bills.

SPEAKER_02

Shout out Jack. Jacksonville's headed to another year without making the playoffs.

SPEAKER_00

Um Arch Manning inbound for the Jaguars.

SPEAKER_02

Tank for Arch. Um shout out Jack.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Well, happy football season. The dog days of the summer are over. Enjoy the preseason. Enjoy college football. It's all here, baby.
