Texan Edge
The Texan Edge is more than a podcast — it’s a Texas state of mind.
Hosted by Tweed Scott, author of Texas in Her Own Words, each weekday brings a short burst of inspiration, common sense, and straight talk from the Lone Star perspective. Some days we’ll visit a slice of Texas history; other days, we’ll share a story or reflection to help you face the day with grit, gratitude, and grace.
Whether you were born here, got here as fast as you could, or just wish you had — The Texan Edge reminds you why the Texas spirit still matters. It’s where optimism wears boots, humor has manners, and pride runs as deep as the oil wells.
Pull up a chair, friend. Take a listen.
On Wednesdays and Fridays, we focus on a Texas historical event to showcase our daily nugget. Ultimately, it's a Texas thing!
My why with The Texan Edge is to share the spirit of Texas—the humor, grit, wisdom, and warmth I’ve lived and loved here—with people everywhere. I want to remind folks each day that they carry the strength to face life with courage, perspective, and a smile. This podcast is my way of giving back the inspiration Texas has given me, one daily nugget at a time.
Because here at The Texan Edge, we don’t just talk Texas — we live it.
The Texan Edge is "Not just a podcast, but a Texas state of mind.”

This isn't just a podcast, it's a Texas state of mind.
Happy Thanksgiving, y'all! It's Tweed Scott here. Today's the big day. The table's set, the football's on, and the smell of turkeys in the air. But before we all slip into a gravy coma, let me throw out an idea. What if Thanksgiving wasn't a day, but a lifestyle? Think about it. Most of us will say grace today, eat too much, and promise to get back on track tomorrow. But gratitude, real gratitude, is a full-time job. It's waking up tomorrow and still finding reasons to be thankful, even when the leftovers are gone and Uncle Bubba's political rants are still echoing in your ears. You know, when I lived in Seymour, Texas many years ago, there was an old neighbor who never missed a chance to say, Ain't life grand? And he'd say it on the hottest, sweatiest days of August, standing in a cloud of mosquitoes. And then I realized he wasn't describing his day. He was choosing it. That's thanks living. Seeing blessings where others see burdens, finding humor in the hard parts, loving folks even when they're unlovable. Hey, you don't have to wait for a feast to give thanks. Do it in the grocery line. Do it even when you get cut off in traffic. Okay, maybe after a deep breath or two. Gratitude doesn't erase the nonsense, it just gives it context. So today, as you pass the rolls or pass out on the couch, remember Thanksgiving isn't about perfection. It's about perspective. It's about knowing that the things that drive you crazy today will probably make some pretty good stories tomorrow. So from my heart to yours, Thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving, and may your blessings always outweigh your biscuits. We'll plan on getting back together tomorrow for a little more Texas history here on the Texan Edge. I'm Tweed Scott. Happy Thanksgiving.
