Hi y'all. Tweet Scott here with the Texan Edge. Before I do anything, I want to say a big old Texas howdy to Kevin Higginbotham in Aurora, Colorado. I do appreciate your being part of our Texan loving community. There's something special about Christmas in Texas. It's not the kind of holiday that you see on postcards. It's better. The lights don't twinkle off snowflakes, they shimmer through live oak branches and dance on the wind. The air smells like mesquite smoke and tamales instead of pine needles and chestnuts. And it works. Why? Because it's ours. Drive through any Texas town this time of year, and you'll see what I mean. In Fredericksburg, Main Street glows like a Hallmark movie. Down in San Antonio, the riverwalk sparkles under a canopy of color. And out of the hill country, well, you'll find humble little farmhouses all over with a single string of lights hanging from the porch. But the laughter inside shines brighter than any bowl. Christmas in Texas has always been less about glitter and more about heart. Folks here know how to make the season matter. And maybe it's the church choir and Waco singing their hearts out, or the cowboy church and Abilene collecting toys for kids that they've never even met. Maybe it's just a neighbor dropping off a plate of cookies because, well, that's what good neighbors do. It's the kind of spirit that keeps this state strong. We celebrate big, but we care even bigger. So tonight, when you drive past those lights or sit by that little fire out back, take a minute to soak it all in.
