Texan Edge
The Texan Edge is more than a podcast — it’s a Texas state of mind.
Hosted by Tweed Scott, author of Texas in Her Own Words, each weekday brings a short burst of inspiration, common sense, and straight talk from the Lone Star perspective. Some days we’ll visit a slice of Texas history; other days, we’ll share a story or reflection to help you face the day with grit, gratitude, and grace.
Whether you were born here, got here as fast as you could, or just wish you had — The Texan Edge reminds you why the Texas spirit still matters. It’s where optimism wears boots, humor has manners, and pride runs as deep as the oil wells.
Pull up a chair, friend. Take a listen.
On Wednesdays and Fridays, we focus on a Texas historical event to showcase our daily nugget. Ultimately, it's a Texas thing!
My why with The Texan Edge is to share the spirit of Texas—the humor, grit, wisdom, and warmth I’ve lived and loved here—with people everywhere. I want to remind folks each day that they carry the strength to face life with courage, perspective, and a smile. This podcast is my way of giving back the inspiration Texas has given me, one daily nugget at a time.
Because here at The Texan Edge, we don’t just talk Texas — we live it.
The Texan Edge is "Not just a podcast, but a Texas state of mind.”

Texas doesn’t rush. It moves.
In today’s episode of The Texan Edge, Tweed Scott reflects on a quiet Texas truth: real progress doesn’t have to be frantic to be meaningful. From cattle drives to growing cities, Texas was built step by step, with patience and purpose—not haste.
This episode is a reminder that slow, steady movement isn’t failure. It’s often wisdom at work. If you’ve been pressuring yourself to move faster, this is your invitation to reconsider what sustainable progress really looks like.

This isn't just a podcast, it's a Texas state of mind.
Texas doesn't rush. It moves. Hi there, I'm Tweed Scott back with another edition of The Texan Edge. One thing Texas teaches quietly but consistently is this. Progress doesn't have to be frantic to be real. Texas has never been in a hurry, but it has always been in motion. Cattle drives didn't happen fast, towns didn't spring up overnight. Even the biggest cities in this state were built step by step, decision by decision, season by season. And yet somehow we picked up this modern idea that if we're not moving fast, then we're followed behind. That is not a Texas idea. Texas understands the difference between rushing and moving with purpose. Rushing leads to mistakes and chaos. Purpose leads to results. Here's something we're thinking about today. Are you pressing yourself to move faster? Or are you allowing yourself to move steadily? There is a difference, you know. Texas progress has always been patient progress. Ranchers watched the land before working it. Builders learn the climate before raising walls. People paid attention before committing. And that's the same principle that works in real life. You don't need a breakthrough today. You need forward motion that you can sustain. Now that might mean one honest conversation, one decision that you've been putting off, one small step instead of a dramatic leap. Texas was not built by people who burned out. It was built by people who kept showing up. So if today feels slower than you may like, well don't mistake that for failure. Slow doesn't mean stuck. Slow can mean deliberate. Move the purpose today. That's the Texas way. If this episode gave you something useful, well, pass it along to someone else who could use it. And if you'd like to stay connected with us here on the on the podcast, well, you can find us on Substack.com. Just search for Texan Edge. Keep in mind our porch light is always on.
