Texan Edge
The Texan Edge is more than a podcast — it’s a Texas state of mind.
Hosted by Tweed Scott, author of Texas in Her Own Words, each weekday brings a short burst of inspiration, common sense, and straight talk from the Lone Star perspective. Some days we’ll visit a slice of Texas history; other days, we’ll share a story or reflection to help you face the day with grit, gratitude, and grace.
Whether you were born here, got here as fast as you could, or just wish you had — The Texan Edge reminds you why the Texas spirit still matters. It’s where optimism wears boots, humor has manners, and pride runs as deep as the oil wells.
Pull up a chair, friend. Take a listen.
On Wednesdays and Fridays, we focus on a Texas historical event to showcase our daily nugget. Ultimately, it's a Texas thing!
My why with The Texan Edge is to share the spirit of Texas—the humor, grit, wisdom, and warmth I’ve lived and loved here—with people everywhere. I want to remind folks each day that they carry the strength to face life with courage, perspective, and a smile. This podcast is my way of giving back the inspiration Texas has given me, one daily nugget at a time.
Because here at The Texan Edge, we don’t just talk Texas — we live it.
The Texan Edge is "Not just a podcast, but a Texas state of mind.”

Texas respects finishers.
In today’s episode of The Texan Edge, Tweed Scott reflects on a quiet but powerful Texas trait: finishing what you start. While beginnings get attention, Texas history shows that follow-through is where character is proven and momentum is built.

Show Notes
Texas history is full of bold beginnings—but what made those beginnings matter was follow-through.
In this episode, Tweed explores why finishing has always been a deeply respected Texas value. From frontier families to ranchers and growing communities, Texas was built by people who didn’t quit when things got inconvenient or uncomfortable.
In this episode, you’ll hear about:
- Why starting is easy but finishing reveals character
- How momentum lives on the other side of completion
- Why Texas admires persistence more than perfection
- A simple way to choose one thing worth finishing
Takeaway:
You don’t have to do everything.
You just have to finish one thing honestly.

SPEAKER_00Well, hello there once again. I'm Tweed Scott, and this, of course, is today's Texan Edge. There's a quiet trait Texans respect deeply, even if we don't always talk about it, and that is finishing. Texas history is full of beginnings, new towns, new ranches, new lives. But what made those beginnings matter was follow-through. Starting is easy. Finishing is where character shows up. Anybody can get excited on day one. Texans made their reputation by sticking around on day 100. Think about it, frontier families didn't have the luxury of quitting when things got uncomfortable. Ranchers didn't walk away halfway through a season. Communities survived because people stayed long enough to see things through. And that lesson still applies. In fact, right now, there's probably something that you started with good intentions and quietly set aside. Not because it failed, but because it got boring, or hard, or just flat inconvenient. Well, here's the Texas correction to that mindset. Momentum lives on the other side of finishing. Completion brings clarity. Completion brings confidence. And completion creates trust in yourself. Now this isn't about doing everything, it's about choosing one thing worth finishing. Now, one project, one conversation, one commitment that you let adrift. Texas doesn't admire perfection, it admires persistence. So today, ask yourself this. What deserves to be finished? Not perfectly, just honestly. Pick one thing. Doesn't matter what it is. Take one step toward closing the loop. And that's how Texans build lives worth standing on. Hey, if you found today you know something useful here in the podcast, well share the show with a friend.
