Texan Edge
The Texan Edge is more than a podcast — it’s a Texas state of mind.
Hosted by Tweed Scott, author of Texas in Her Own Words, each weekday brings a short burst of inspiration, common sense, and straight talk from the Lone Star perspective. Some days we’ll visit a slice of Texas history; other days, we’ll share a story or reflection to help you face the day with grit, gratitude, and grace.
Whether you were born here, got here as fast as you could, or just wish you had — The Texan Edge reminds you why the Texas spirit still matters. It’s where optimism wears boots, humor has manners, and pride runs as deep as the oil wells.
Pull up a chair, friend. Take a listen.
On Wednesdays and Fridays, we focus on a Texas historical event to showcase our daily nugget. Ultimately, it's a Texas thing!
My why with The Texan Edge is to share the spirit of Texas—the humor, grit, wisdom, and warmth I’ve lived and loved here—with people everywhere. I want to remind folks each day that they carry the strength to face life with courage, perspective, and a smile. This podcast is my way of giving back the inspiration Texas has given me, one daily nugget at a time.
Because here at The Texan Edge, we don’t just talk Texas — we live it.
The Texan Edge is "Not just a podcast, but a Texas state of mind.”

Episode Description
Success isn’t always loud. Most of the time, it’s quiet… and it looks a lot like showing up.
In today’s Texan Edge, Tweed Scott strips away the myth of talent and gets down to something far more powerful—consistency. The kind that builds families, businesses, communities, and even a republic.
From everyday Texans doing the right thing without recognition… to the delegates at Washington-on-the-Brazos who showed up under the threat of war… this episode is a reminder that real strength isn’t flashy—it’s faithful.
If you’ve been feeling scattered, inconsistent, or just plain worn down, this is your reset.
Because your edge isn’t in doing everything.
It’s in doing what matters—again and again.

Opening And Core Idea
SPEAKER_00Well, hello again. I'm Tweed Scott, and this is today's Texan Edge. Let me tell you something that I've learned after a whole lot of miles and more than a few microphones. Half of what folks call talent is really just showing up when you said you would. Sure, we love the big stories about courage and heroism and winning the big game at the last second. But the real backbone of Texas is a lot quieter than that. It's the mom who gets up one more one more morning and, you know, packs a lunch. It's the guy who opens up his small business door even when yesterday's sales were just really lousy. It's the neighbor who keeps checking in on the widow down the street when the casseroles have long stopped. History backs that up. Those delegates who hammered out the Texas Declaration of Independence and the Constitution at Washington on the Brazos, hey, they were not perfect men. They argued. They disagreed. But you know what? They showed up from all over Texas to put their names on a document that just might get them killed. Now they kept showing up to meetings and committees while Santa and his army marched closer. And when they finished their work, they didn't linger for applause. They got out of the way, and then they just kept on going to do the right thing. Now showing up may not be glamorous, but you know what? It sure is powerful. Think about the people in your life who've made a difference. And I bet most of them weren't larger than life heroes. They were consistent. They called, they came by, and they came to ball games with you. They kept their word even when it was inconvenient for them. In a world full of big talk and short attention spans, consistency is a radical act. You know this little show, Texan Edge, it only exists because you keep showing up too. You let me ride along with you in the truck, in the kitchen, or on that morning walk. And some of you have gone a step further. You've bought me a cup of coffee over at that little support link that we have, and you don't have to do that. But when you do, it tells me this time together matters enough to you to help keep the porch light on. And I gotta tell you, I'm really grateful for that. So let's turn this into something practical. There's one place in your life, or is there one where you've been hit or missed lately? Could be faith, family, friendships, maybe your health. Instead of promising yourself some huge overhaul, just pick one small way to show up today. Make a phone call if you need to, or take a walk, sit down at the table, and do it without fanfare and without a big speech, because you don't need one. I'm Tweed Scott, and this has been the Texan Edge. Around here our edge isn't in doing everything, it's in doing the important things again and again. And I'll be back here again tomorrow. Hope that you'll show up too. See you then.
