Why Texas Lines Feel Different

SPEAKER_00

Texatu. Patients with a backbone. You ever notice how a Texas line is still a line, but somehow it feels different? It could be at the DPS licensing office. Could be your favorite barbecue joint, or even at the Bucky's bathroom where it seems like it's 12 people deep. Folks may huff and puff a little, but most of the time we don't lose it. We wait, we grin. Yeah, we even roll our eyes. But we eventually get where we're

What The Texan Edge Is

SPEAKER_00

going. Hi there, I'm Tweed Scott, and this is the Texan Edge. This little daily ride exists to help you borrow the best of what makes Texans Texan and put it to work in your life. Wherever you are. Today we're talking about a quiet superpower that doesn't get enough credit.

Texas Style Patience Defined

SPEAKER_00

Texas style patience. Now, patience doesn't sound very exciting. Yeah, I know that. But it's not as glamorous as courage or as loud as righteous anger. But out here in Texas, hey, we know patience will save your hide and your relationships

Real Life Tests Of Patience

SPEAKER_00

too. Think about a summer traffic jam on I-45. It's a hundred degrees out on the blacktop. Your AC is doing its best. And right when you're already 10 minutes late, everything grinds to a halt. Your blood pressure wants to explode. But here's the truth. You can't yell that traffic out of the way. No amount of horn honking has ever parted a sea of brake lights. Texas patients isn't pretending that you're not frustrated. Sure you are. It's choosing not to let that frustration drive the truck. It's also the rancher who knows that he can't rush the rain. Or it may be the teacher who sees the kid acting up and thinks, you know, there's a story behind all this before she reaches for the discipline slip. It's also the mom in AHE B who takes a deep breath instead of snapping when her toddler melts down over some cereal in aisle

Never Make A Permanent Reaction

SPEAKER_00

seven. Look, here's a line that I really like. Never let a temporary problem cause a permanent reaction. That's what I call texitude. That's patience with a backbone. It's not just sitting quietly, it's standing your ground inside, refusing to surrender your peace to every delay, every idiot driver, of which there is no shortage, or even every rude comment on the social media.

Control Your Pace Inside

SPEAKER_00

You don't control the pace of the world. You don't. But you do control your pace inside that world. Texans have to learn early, because this place will test you. It flat will. Weather will delay your plans, ranch gates won't open when they should, life will show up late, muddy, and out of breath. When you practice Texas patience, you're not letting the people walk all over you. Remember, you and only you get to decide what gets to live rent-free inside your head. You're saying, I can wait, but I won't stew. You hold your ground, keep your sense of humor, and let time do

Practice Texitude In Your Wait

SPEAKER_00

its job. If there's a line in your life right now, maybe a delay or a long wait, or perhaps a season where nothing seems to be moving, this just might be your moment to practice a little Texitude. Take a deep breath. Loosen your shoulders and look around. Decide you're not going to let this temporary hang up steal today's joy. Here's your edge for the day. You can't always speed things up, but you can slow yourself down. Texas style patience doesn't change the clock, but it changes you while you wait.
