What One Thing?

04 Sophie Baldwin: Rebuilding After Redundancy: Starting Over and Finding Business Growth on Her Terms

Phil Davenport and Hayley Baxter

After losing her corporate job, Sophie Baldwin took the leap into business — and learned fast that it takes more than a logo to build a brand. In this episode, she shares how she went from self-doubt to self-employed, why clarity beats perfection, and the one mindset shift that helped her grow a business that truly aligns with her values.

Sophie Baldwin, founder of Double Digit Ltd — a bookkeeping practice that helps business owners feel calm, clear, and in control of their finances. Sophie and her team work with purpose-led founders who care deeply about their work but often feel overwhelmed trying to juggle it all.  Using smart tech and thoughtful processes to make their financial lives easier, more predictable, and less stressful.

Sophie also runs a neurodivergent-friendly business and lives in a neurodivergent household, and so understands the importance of flexibility, clarity, and systems that work in real life. Before launching Double Digit, Sophie worked as a PA in the City — an experience that taught her how to stay calm under pressure and keep complex things running smoothly.
