The "Om Shanti" Peace Meditation is a gentle mantra-based practice for unpaid carers, designed to support calm, stillness, and a sense of inner peace.

Using a simple repeated phrase, this meditation helps quiet the mind and soften the body without effort — offering carers supporting someone living with dementia a steady, calming rhythm to return to when the day feels like too much.

There's no need to be familiar with the words — just follow along in a way that feels natural to you.

Press play, settle in, and allow a sense of peace to unfold.

Suitable for anyone supporting someone living with dementia, whether at home or in a professional care role.

It's a simple practice using a quite repeated word to help settle the mind and invite the sense of the words feel unfamiliar. That's completely okay. You can simply listen and repeat them in your mind in a way that feels comfortable to you. There's no right or wrong way to do this. When you're ready, gently close your eyes. Take a moment to settle in. And when you're ready, bring your attention to your breath. If your mind wanders during the meditation, that's completely natural. Just gently guide your attention back whenever you notice. Take a nice deep breath in and sigh it out. Not yet, but in just a moment, you'll invite peace into every part of you. Shanting shanty. Om is the universal sound. Shanting peace with a mind, body, and spirit. You can say it silently in your mind, or softly if that feels comfortable. Let the words follow your breath at a natural, easy pace. Um shanti, shanti, shanti. With each repetition, let stress dissolve om shanti, shanti, shanti, om shanti, shanti, shanti. Allow the repetition to soften your mind. And with each round feel a sense of calm spreading throughout your body. There's nothing to force. Just letting the words and the breath guide you into stillness. Notice how you feel. Even a small sense of calm is enough. You can return to this practice any time you need a moment of peace. When you're ready, open your eyes. Stepping forward in calm and peace. Ready to continue with your day. Thank you for taking this time for your help.
