SPEAKER_00:

Ready? Ready. Hey everyone. Welcome back to the latest episode of Snitchin. It's your host, Kristen. And Brittany, get ready for the best part of your day. It's another week, Monday, last week of October. Hard to believe. How is your weekend, Brett?

SPEAKER_01:

That is crazy. It was good. It was busy. I feel like I'm still exhausted, even though I went to bed at like 7:45 last night. Oh my God. Tell me, what'd you do? Um, well, Friday, I don't think I said this on the pod, but Friday we did, we had like we went to like this cornhole tournament at Charles River. Chris like promised so that it was like you do it in like a foursome with like two other people. So he'd like told these people, and Brennan and Kelly did it. So I was like, oh, this is you know, not really normal. Like, I don't think I've ever played a game of cornhole.

SPEAKER_00:

Are you kidding me? No, I don't play games, Kristen. Wait, I'm I'm genuinely shocked. Oh but you're really well. I mean, I I love Cornhole. I was in a cornhole league, for God's sake, with Michelle. I just assumed that you, but you're right. I mean, I never see you play that game. I don't play any games. I just go for the socializing. Oh my God. Wow. I mean, I no, you you're right now that you say it, but I'm just like, it's just shocking to hear.

SPEAKER_01:

I know it's it's a weird thing about me. I am just not competitive. Yeah. Like, I'm just not. It's like I've never been felt more seen than when I took one of those like, you know, like Myers Briggs or one of those like surveys that tell you like what your personality is. And it was like, you're so not competitive that you have a hard time understanding people who are competitive. And I was like, whoa, that's true. No one's ever said that to me before.

SPEAKER_00:

That's hilarious. Okay. So I mean, what'd you think? Like, how'd the game go? How'd you do? What am I? So she's making a face.

SPEAKER_01:

This was not a cornhole game for me. It was a cornhole game for you. It was like way more intense than I needed to be. There was like this whole scoring system, and like people were swapping, you're like swapping teams, you're playing with different people, and like it started out being like the guy was like, okay, so every team is gonna have to play a minimum of six games and then there'll be a playoff. And I was like, What? Oh, like I was like, I didn't sign up for this, Chris.

SPEAKER_00:

Also, I mean, we've said this before, but like something we both value freedom. We do not want to be locked into six games. That's that's a commitment that you weren't expecting. So I I mean, I yeah, you're right, I would love that, but I totally understand why that is not up your alley.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. I mean, luckily there was a good amount of people who were kind of on my same page. But no, the worst part about the whole thing was then it rained. Like right when we were starting at 5 30, it rained for like almost an hour and it was freezing. Like no one had rain stuff on. And I was like, Are we doing this? Like, do we really have to do this in the rain? Is it that serious? And the guy like made us do it in the rain. I was like waiting for one person to forfeit, and then I was gonna be like, forfeit. Um, I think we did end up forfeiting in the end because I did not want to play one more game. But but yeah, so then I was soaked the whole time and I wore this like cute new uh leopard print bomber jacket that I got. Oh my god, fucking drenched like five minutes in. My hair is wet, like everything. And I'm like throwing freaking cornhole bags that are covered in dirt. My hands are freezing. I was like literally about to throw one at Chris's head. Um yeah, so that wasn't fun. But it was fun, it is fun. Like the thing about cornhole, I guess that now I know is it's fun when you how you play next to like the person not on your team. So you like talk to a new person.

SPEAKER_00:

Yes. No, I know that is true. People always forget that. Cornhole's a great socializing game. Yeah, it's perfect for a tailgate, or if you're going somewhere where you don't know someone, great game to play for that reason alone. You're gonna talk to new people.

SPEAKER_01:

But like, why were we doing it on October 24th and not like August 24th? I mean June 24th or May 24th. I don't know. Fair. Don't know. Next time I'm gonna be like, I'll come to the Cornhall tournament to watch and socialize, and that's it.

SPEAKER_00:

Well, I'm impressed that you played. I did Kelly and Brendan make it far.

SPEAKER_01:

Also, what were the winnings? Did you win anything? I don't, I forfeited by that point. Right, right. I was like, I'm ready, just go to the bar now.

SPEAKER_00:

Words that have never come out of my mouth.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, yeah. You would have been like soaked in the rain, like covered in dirt. I would have, oh, I would never have have left, but yeah, I was like trying not even to keep score. I was like, well, I did figure out the scoring, which is actually pretty complicated. Yeah. Um, but you have to get to 21. And have some like there was points where people are like, what are we at? I'm like, 21. We lost. But yeah, but it I mean it ended up being fun. It was just funny that like it was like way more intense than I think most people thought it was going to be.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, sure, sure. Okay, so that was Friday night.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, that was Friday. Then Saturday, I uh Chris golfed all day for nine hours, and I had my children. So we went and visited my grandmother's new place, and then we had my cousin Lizzie's shower in the afternoon at the road. Lizzie and her cousin Danielle Chris met us there. Um, that was fun. One thing I was like, Lizzie and her cousin Danielle. Sorry, Lizzie and her fiance. Oh. Lizzie and her fiance, Danielle. Yeah, not cousin. That would be.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, it was yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

My cousin. Yeah. They did this one really cool thing. Um, I was like, someone's gonna steal this. It was like they had my aunt Lynn, or I think my cousin Sarah saw it at another wedding, but there was like a deck of cards, and it was like the thing was like sign a card with like a special message from you so that when they're playing cards, they'll like be reminded of all your message. I was like, that is such a great idea.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah. It never functionally, it never like ceases to amaze me at showers, bridal or baby, that there are new games. That I'm like, that's such a great idea. Or even what you were saying when you did Sammy's shower, the book idea, because she's such a bookworm. Yeah. To have people just come bring a book swap. Like, great idea. I was at a shower last month for uh my friend Julia, and her sisters did this thing where like they passed around each a book, a page from a coloring book, and it told a story. And so you would color your page, give a little note, and then they collected them all at the end and it made a little story. Yeah, it was that it was actually a very fun thing to do during the shower as well. And I feel like people know this that coloring books, like adult coloring books, have even trended before, you know, they've been trending because it's very therapeutic. And yeah, it was fun, it was a fun activity to do. I'm glad that the shower, though, that it went well.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, went well. And then Sunday we had the Halloween parade in Canton, which was a mob scene. But I got Tyler in his costume, so I will consider it a win.

SPEAKER_00:

Let's go. How was that little pig?

SPEAKER_01:

He was good. I mean, he was tired, he skipped a nap, but they actually at the high school, so it ended at the high school, and they had like trunk or treat thing, which was like way too crowded. I was like, I'm not walking through there. And but then on the like grass, they had like a little petting, petting zoo with like goats and like bunnies and stuff. So Tyler loved that. He was a pig, so he fit right in. He really was goose. And then they had like a pony ride thing that Connor did. But um, but yeah, so they were liking the animals.

SPEAKER_00:

I feel like trunk retreats are new age. That was not around when we were in elementary school. So for anyone who hasn't heard of this, a trunk retreat is like they do them at different elementary schools. The only reason I've heard of them is because my sister's kids go to them. But yeah, it's like they'll people will have their the trunk of their car, right? Like decorated, themed in a certain way.

SPEAKER_01:

I saw one trick or treating in a parking lot.

SPEAKER_00:

Perfect. You go to people's cars instead of house. That's it. Trick or treating in a parking lot. I saw one guy did um, I saw this online, but he did a wheel of fortune spo, you know, trunk or treat. So kids would come up, they would spin the wheel like they would on not Wheel of Fortune, yeah, on um prices right, not Wheel of Fortune. They would spin the wheel like they were on prices right, and if they got to the dollar, then they would get a candy. Oh, that's a good one. I would have loved that. That's fun.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, I think trunk retreat, they might do more stuff like that too. I don't know.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah. Well, that's perfect. I mean, so I can see why you're you know still recovering. You had a lot going on.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. But how's your weekend? How was turn Tina Turner?

SPEAKER_00:

It was so good. Yeah, me and my sister and our friend Jen went to see Tina Turner, the musical on Friday night. I did not realize this has happened to me before. I did not realize how much of her music I know. Yeah, I could see that. Yeah, I just kind of assume I'm Tina Turner. I know simply the best, you know. I'm simply, but other than that, I'm like, what does she sing? So many songs. So that's always fun. Uh, all the music was her music. So I love when you go to a new show and you know some of the songs already. I love it makes it more fun. Huge. Yeah. Huge. Huge. So yeah, it was great. The performer who played her was so good. And I also didn't realize, I mean, I knew that she was in a uh abusive relationship to her husband, Ike Turner, but I did not realize that her life was so difficult. She was basically not wanted by her parents. So she was raised by her grandparents. She goes to this nightclub with her sister one night and is essentially discovered by her future husband Ike, who kind of like you know, the Ike and Tina Turner duo, they rise to fame in the 60s. He's super abusive. Wow.

SPEAKER_01:

Isn't she sing like the big wheel, keep on turning? Proud Mary. Yeah, she did.

SPEAKER_00:

I don't know if she's like her or if she did a cover, but yes, she does sing that. And then though, I know all through the 60s, he's abusing her, but they're famous. And then she finally decides to leave him in the 70s and then has this major comeback in the 80s. She was broke. She, there's she, there's one part in the play, and I guess my sister and Jen told me that I have to watch the movie. There's a movie where Angela Bassett stars as Tina Turner, and I guess it's so good, but I haven't seen it. But there was a scene in the play that they say is also in the movie where they've just gotten in a big fight and she's all, you know, battered up and she goes to this hotel with no money to her name, like 30 cents to her name. And they basically, yeah, and she tells them, like, I'm Tina Turner. Can you please I need to stay here tonight? And that was kind of like the start of her independence from him. She ends up, you know, they they see her, whatever, they let her stay. And then she has, I think like five or five or seven years later, she has her big comeback where all of her major, major hits from the 80s, that's like when it happens when she's solo. So, like um, wow, I love that. I know, I know. So it was really good. And my sister ended up staying over with me on Friday night. So we hung out a little bit on Saturday. Obviously, watched the Patriots. I watched with my fam yesterday. Another win. We love to see it. Yeah, good game. Good game, good team. I'm just so in on this team. I'm so happy Stefan Diggs got his first touchdown. That's like my new guy.

SPEAKER_01:

Oh, he did. I didn't I miss a good amount because the parade was at one.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, he got his first one.

SPEAKER_01:

Oh, yay. Let's go.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, I like Stefan Diggs. Yeah, me too. So yeah, and then um I have not finished, which is shocking, but I did start Nobody Wants This Season 2. Oh, yeah. Obviously loving it already. All I'll say for anyone who hasn't watched it yet, is that there's a big focus from what I can tell so far on some of the other characters, her sister, Esther. And I'm really liking what they're doing there. So I'm excited so interesting. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

What's the name of that girl in real life that's her sister?

SPEAKER_00:

Justine Lupe.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, I like her.

SPEAKER_00:

I like her too. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. She's funny. Oh, yay. I'm excited to watch it.

SPEAKER_00:

I know.

SPEAKER_01:

I know, me too.

SPEAKER_00:

Um, but we have a great show for you, per usual. We have some follow-up from some of the stuff we talked about last week, mainly being the Louvre heist. So they caught the guys, they think they caught a couple of them. Oh, so it wasn't all of them? No, they've caught so basically, as we talked about on Friday, as I'm sure a lot of people have heard about, I mean, because this is like Ocean's 11 level crime here. There was a big robbery from the Louvre last week, almost 100 million euros worth of eight different items that were taken during an eight-minute heist. So they have said they've arrested two suspects. Um, basically, the way that they found out about these people, which we talked about on our episode, is that they had left behind gloves, a walkie-talkie, a vest, and a can of gasoline. And that allowed for the forensics team to find their DNA. So that's how they found out about these guys. And they arrested one of them at the Paris airport as they were about to board a flight out of the country. Can you believe that poor guy? He was probably like, I'm getting out, I'm getting out. No, honestly at the last minute. Like you've made it through security. I know. I wonder where, if it was like at the gate or if they were going through security and then they like see his name or what I wonder when it happened.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, I don't know. I mean, just being at the airport sucks.

SPEAKER_00:

No, the I mean, it's another layer to this movie level plot line.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, yeah. But like, why is he flying out of Paris? Like, I would think you'd pick like some random ass airport in France or wherever.

SPEAKER_00:

I would think that you would get on a train where there's much less security. Oh, right. Go to a different country. I mean, we're in Europe here, and fly out of there.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. Well, don't they still don't you still have to like when you pass the border, maybe show your ID? But I guess if if you went on a flight, you have to show your ID.

SPEAKER_00:

So Yeah. Um I'm trying to think. I don't know because I've been on. Let me think about this. I feel like I've gone on buses that were from like Spain to Portugal, and I don't remember having to like show my ID to get into a new country. Yeah. So I don't know. Maybe like the EU, the E, like within the EU, you don't have to or something. Yeah, maybe something like that. But they did say um that both of the men were in their 30s. They had prior convictions and they had previously targeted jewelry stores. So these weren't new time thieves. These were uh these were pros.

SPEAKER_01:

Well, to be expected.

SPEAKER_00:

I mean, I guess to be expected. It does take a certain type of personality if it's like a first-time burglar to say, let's just go big or go home. Like, let's go to the loop. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

That's is that sane? That's probably not sane.

unknown:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00:

It's like, let's try the K jewelers down the street first. Like, that's fair.

SPEAKER_01:

But I I give these guys way too much credit because I was like, I feel like it's so hard to get away with crime now, like with DNA and fingerprints. But I thought they would have had that shit wrapped up, but they didn't. Stupid, stupid.

SPEAKER_00:

I hate to say it because obviously, like you want these guys to be caught, right? Like, we want them to be caught. It's obviously we don't condone burglary, but agreed. I mean, it was kind of impressive that they got away with this thing. And you would have thought that they would have gotten a little bit further, but no, they're just not the level of robbers that we thought they were.

SPEAKER_01:

It seemed like they had a really good plan for like the actual heist, you know, like the yeah, that part, but then like their getaway plan, not very strong.

SPEAKER_00:

Not very strong. No. They also said that the reason they think there could be more suspects, well, because there were four people, I think, that they knew. There was like two people in the motor cars and then the people who went in. But they said that now that they have the first suspects, that they'll be able to gather more evidence, like through searches of their cell phones, homes. So that's why they think there'll be more. Um and the other thing that I read that I thought was interesting is that they still don't have the jewels back. Like basically, the jewels are are now a bargaining tool for the arrested. Like in places like France and Europe, they can use the jewels that they've stolen to get out of jail. I don't know how it works.

SPEAKER_01:

I don't know. I guess. Yeah, I'm like trying to think. Like, did I mean they have to hide them somewhere really secret?

SPEAKER_00:

I don't know. Maybe we just need to wait and see what happens with there because what they what the NBC like article suggested was that they can use these jewels that have not been recovered as leverage to get to buy their freedom, basically, and say, like, we'll give them back if you let us free, and like if we you know rat out the other people. So that makes sense. I I would have thought that, like, regardless of if they get the jewels back or not, that they would arrest these guys. But yeah, I mean, I would think so too.

SPEAKER_01:

But I feel like because it's such like a national treasure, you know what I mean? It's not like they just stole money.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, great point. No, totally, yeah, fair, fair, fair.

SPEAKER_01:

But yeah, they probably have to rat people out and stuff too. I bet it's not that easy.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah. But dang, I mean, mystery solved, it's you know, one week turnaround on this thing.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, damn. I mean, yeah, I obviously don't want people to steal things, but I for the like the movie script part of it, I was like kind of hoping it all worked out.

SPEAKER_00:

Me too. Me too, me too. Maybe if there's the movie script version keeps going, maybe we find out that there's like a mole inside the the museum. Oh, I bet there is. Yeah, so you know, that could be like plot line B.

SPEAKER_01:

Little do they know that's how they found him or something.

SPEAKER_00:

Maybe there's really an actual master up mastermind who was like, let me get these losers who think that they know how to do this. Yeah, I'll really be the one. Yeah, yes, we'll see if those jewels turn up, they'll take the fall for it. Then, I mean, okay, then my whole opinion of this heist changes. Yeah, yeah, that's true. That's true. Yeah, so stay tuned, everyone. But that's what's going on so far. Another update from one of the things that we talked about on Friday, we did our dancing with the stars recap, and it came out over the weekend that Dylan Efron broke his nose in rehearsal. This isn't really a big story, but um you think he cried? He's a man. They're you know, they're men of their emotions, and I feel like dancing, they have to tap on into that. And you know, she broke the shit out of his nose. So that really sucks.

SPEAKER_01:

Did it say what like what happened?

SPEAKER_00:

Uh yes. So he put up a Instagram story and he said we were trying to move. I took an elbow right here, like top of the bridge of his nose. It made a really loud crack, he explained, and he pointed to the side of the nasal bridge. I know. Does that remind you of your cheerleading days? I feel like that's very cheerleading coded.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, but I don't think anyone ever broke their nose. Really? That's surprising that they didn't.

unknown:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

Because you easily could.

SPEAKER_00:

Definitely. I feel like cheerleading is one of the most dangerous sports out there.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. I mean, my high school cheerleading team wasn't doing anything that was like that crazy. But sure, you watch like cheer.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, no, competitive cheer. Competitive cheer. Yeah, yeah. He said, Not how I wanted to end the rehearsal day, but we will be back dancing tomorrow. Does that happen?

SPEAKER_01:

I feel like I'm not surprised that would happen every once in a while.

SPEAKER_00:

No, not really. I haven't seen many injuries. I mean, yeah, maybe, maybe injuries, but I don't think I've seen like a nose breaking. Wow. I wonder if they'll keep that move in the dance. I know. I was kind of thinking that too. Like, you've got to be really careful after that because any movement where she hits his nose, even if it's not like bad, but just like moves it, is gonna be super painful.

SPEAKER_01:

True. Yeah, it probably hurts to be like waving your head around, too.

SPEAKER_00:

I know.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, that sucks. But I don't think he'll get out still. I think he'll I think he'll be okay.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, it was also revealed, um, too, that Boston Rob, Dylan Efron's BFF from their time on Traders, they're so cute. They're just like they love their besties. They teased, or Boston Rob teased. He and Efron filmed a secret project that will be dropping soon. So gotta give it to these guys for really like maximizing on their reality TV show fame. I mean, Boston Rob, he's gonna be grasping at straws at this point. He's had a resurgence with traitors, it's crazy.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, I actually have heard that. I wonder if he has a job.

SPEAKER_00:

I don't, I don't know. I don't know if he needs one. I really feel like he can make appearances. Like he literally this week was just on Watch What Happens Live as the guest bartender.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, well, now that he's in traitors, but I wonder like between Survivor and and Traitors.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, that's true.

SPEAKER_01:

I'm sure he's famous enough.

SPEAKER_00:

Probably, yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

I mean Canton.

SPEAKER_00:

He's from Canton. Shout out. Um, also I saw that Jonathan Bailey sent Robert Irwin flowers for his portrayal of Fiero. That's nice. Jonathan Bailey might be the most liked man in Hollywood. Like I've heard nothing but amazing things about this guy that he's the sweetest dude. Is he in a relationship or married? No, he's very attractive. He's very attractive. Yeah. So yeah, that's that. And last news of the day is some dating rumor mill news. Sophie Turner and Chris Martin. They have been rumored um by the Daily Mail. Daily Mail reported that the actress and seven-time Grammy winner had a night out together last week. You know, as we know, Sophie, Sophie Turner was married to Joe Jonas. They filed for divorce in September 2023. They were together for four years of marriage. And then Chris Martin broke up with his longtime girlfriend, Dakota Johnson. They were together for eight years. And it's also not much has been reported about like Sophie and Chris. It's just that they went on a date. But the Daily Mail did resurface a video from 2020 where Sophie Turner's husband, then husband, Joe Jonas, handed his wife, handed her a phone, basically, and said, I have someone who wants to say happy birthday. And he got a recording of Chris Martin saying happy birthday to Sophie Turner. And the video is like her reaction video to it, and she was totally fan fangirling over it. So that was kind of like a funny anecdote. Yeah, right.

SPEAKER_01:

I feel like she's like a unique celebrity in that like she got famous like a little bit later. You know what I mean? Like when she was probably like early 20s when like Game of Thrones was on, maybe. So like she had a life before then.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, I don't know. That's a good question. When did how old is she? I mean, she's definitely from Game of Thrones. Definitely, definitely, definitely. So she is probably 30. 29. Yep. 29. Yep.

SPEAKER_01:

When did Game of Thrones premiere? So, like, in that sense, that's like so cool. That's like if like we got to go on a date with like Harry Siles or something.

SPEAKER_00:

I know, but I will say, I mean, Game of Thrones was 14 years ago. So she was like 15 when that came out. Really? Yeah, started in 2011. I know what you mean though. I mean, and she grew up like I feel like when you get that famous on a show like that, but you're with the same cast for 10 years. Yeah, Maisie, her co-star, who was who played Aria Stark is like her best friend. They kind of had each other. Um she definitely seems very like cool, calm, collected. I I kind of think that Chris Martin has a type. I feel like there's a similarity in just their personalities between Sophie Turner, Dakota Johnson, and Gwyneth Paltro. They all kind of give this like, I don't give a fuck energy. Yeah, I could see that.

SPEAKER_01:

I could see that. What's their age difference?

SPEAKER_00:

It must be that's a good question. So she's 29, Chris Martin is 48.

SPEAKER_01:

Oh wow.

SPEAKER_00:

So 20 years.

SPEAKER_01:

20 years, yeah.

SPEAKER_00:

That's kind of like Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper. Like they have a similar true. I feel like when a 20-year age gap when you're in Hollywood is not even that, it's not really that big. Their lives are so different than the rest of the world's. Like you probably have more in common even with a 20-year age gap than you than with someone who was like not famous or not an artist, yeah, and is her age.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, agree. Yeah, it's like the rules are different. Um, apparently, her and Joe Jonas's divorce is like messy too. Really? Yeah, I was reading that. Lots of fights over custody and stuff.

SPEAKER_00:

Hmm, interesting. She seems like cool. I feel like I would, yeah. I mean, I don't know, not side on her side, but I would overlook ew.

SPEAKER_01:

Cake by the ocean boy. Yeah. I'm a neck girl.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, I'm a Kevin girl. Ew. Kevin's got such a solid like marriage. He seems like such a good husband. He was the overlooked brother. He actually performed when they came to Fenway over the summer. He did his first time, like he did his first solo performance in front of their fans, and people were loving it. Oh, I love that. I know. Uh go Kevin.

SPEAKER_01:

You deserve your flowers. Yeah. Go Kevin. Yeah, I hate Nick's wife. What's her name? Priyanka. Priyanka Chopra. Yeah, I've heard she's like such a bitch. Oh, she really seems like it. Yeah. Like I think a lot of people, like Indian people that are like from her culture, like don't like her too.

SPEAKER_00:

Interesting.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. Something's up.

SPEAKER_00:

But yeah, I'm here for the I'm kind of into this relationship. So I wouldn't hate if they got together. But yeah. Should we get to our snitch session?

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. Let's do it. Um, so we got a good one for you guys today, actually kind of relevant to what we talked about on Friday. So I will kick us off here. So, dear snitches, I have been dating my boyfriend for a little over a year, and on the surface, he's perfect. He's kind, respectful, and my family loves him. We've been talking about moving in together, and I felt like everything was going great. Then last week I was using his laptop to find a movie to watch when I saw an open browser tab. Uh-oh. Um, I know I shouldn't have, but I couldn't help but look. And I found multiple tabs for online gaming sites. When I scrolled down, I saw an email confirmation for a huge loss. Uh-oh. I am shocked and scared. He's never mentioned anything about gambling. He always seems to have money. I feel like he's living a secret life and I'm questioning everything about our relationship. How do we even talk to him about this without feeling like I've invaded his privacy? And more importantly, how do I even trust him after this?

SPEAKER_00:

Tough question. We were just talking about gambling last week. I mean, in my opinion, you've kind of stumbled into a good situation because you weren't like actually snooping. You were just looking for a movie. So I feel like it's very justified just to say, this is what happened. I wasn't snooping. I was on your laptop to see a movie. I saw this tab, and now I can't unsee it. And like just be straight with them. I don't think that you need to skirt around this issue in the slightest. And I think it's totally fair to say, I'm bringing it up because this is a concern for me. If we're going to move in together, finances is like one of the biggest things a couple has to deal with.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, yeah, you're right. In a sense, it's like kind of good she found it out now and not, you know, five or 10 years from now, could have lost a lot more money. But yeah, I feel very strongly that like you shouldn't care at all about like invading privacy in that case. It's like if if the other person's trying to fight back, like, oh, you invaded my privacy, it's like, well, fuck you, you've like hidden this whole thing. Like that doesn't, they're not, they're not equal.

SPEAKER_00:

Yes. No gaslighting allowed in this situation.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. So I always think like if people happen to see things on phones and whatnot, it's just valid. That's just the world, the day, the world we live in, the digital age. And yeah, I don't know. I feel like I would definitely be feel the same way about like, can I trust this person? I mean, I think you have to hear them out, obviously.

SPEAKER_00:

Maybe this is like a one-time thing where it just was bad timing that you saw a really bad loss for something, but I would definitely address it and then ask for like get the information that you need to know about this. If you're gonna move in with someone and you want to make sure that it's a good responsible choice for you, and again, like telling him, I just need to make sure that before I like tie myself to you and we have the same bills, that like I understand what's going on. So I would try to find out as much as you can, like, how often is he doing this?

SPEAKER_01:

Um, yeah, definitely. I feel like it's like hard to say what to do based on like just that amount of information. It's gonna be very individual, you know what I mean? Like it depends on like what his response is and stuff like that. But I would also say, like, go with your gut and don't like be worried about like, oh, am I gonna find a new person? Or like what's what's so-and-so gonna think? Like, what's my family gonna think because they love him if we break up or whatever? Like, you have to like do what's right for you. Um, spoiler alert for our book club book because that's like a big theme.

SPEAKER_00:

Oh, yeah, yeah. Good plug. Book club is on Friday. We're gonna have Gina and Stefan to talk about Untamed by Glenn and Doyle. So make sure to tune in. Um, that's a good point, though. Yeah, like don't let other people's uh opinions influence you.

SPEAKER_01:

It's like, and it's less like I'd be like, it's less about the actual gambling and more about like the fact that you were hiding it from me. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00:

But you know what he's hiding it. Well, I don't know though. Was he? Because what if it's he's just it's on, it's open. On his laptop, like maybe he just didn't even think to tell her because it's just like something he does, you know?

SPEAKER_01:

True, or maybe it was one of those like group bets, like my brothers and his friends all do where they all put in like 20 bucks, and it's probably looks like someone, one person has to do the transaction, I think.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

So it it could be something like that, where he was like on a bachelor party and he like fronted it, but like didn't actually pay for it all.

SPEAKER_00:

That's a really good point. Yeah. I mean, so yeah. So again, like you kind of got a good situation here. Like you've just stumbled upon this, it's not at your fault. You see a big number loss, obviously that's concerning. So just try to be genuinely curious. What is this? And like how much is this happening? And then, like, Britt, I think I agree with Britt. Just trust your gut. After you get that info that you need, whatever's best for you.

unknown:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

Because if it's like something you think will be like in your mind forever, it probably will be. And you don't want to live like that. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00:

I mean, I would have a hard time seeing people like lose money, even if it wasn't, even if it wasn't if I wasn't married to this person. But if I'm live, if I'm living with them, if they're my boyfriend, if they're my partner, whatever. If I saw someone losing money regularly, like for me, that would be very difficult. Because I don't, I don't gamble and I don't, I mean, I'm not risky with that. So I I would have a hard time with that.

SPEAKER_01:

What about like though, it's like if someone was bad with money, but it was more like they just like bought clothes all the time? Like you lived with someone, they were constantly buying clothes, but then they had like credit card debt.

SPEAKER_00:

I mean, it's still a problem. Like, I would still I would have a problem with that too, I think.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, yeah. I mean, I could easily be like that on Amazon, just don't keep track.

SPEAKER_00:

I don't know. It the thing with gambling is that you can win big, but when you lose, you get nothing of value in return. Like if you're shopping that stings. That's it. It stings, it's a loss. Like, have you ever heard the phrase, would you rather win or would you rather avoid losing? Win. What do you mean? Would you rather win or would you rather just not lose? And like there's a big proponent of people, and I don't know where I fit with that, who would rather just not take a loss? Like, I don't need to win, but I just don't want to lose.

SPEAKER_01:

And so I feel like it's that I saw more into that.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah. Like I just wouldn't want to lose my money, you know. And I feel like if you gamble and you lose, like you don't get anything in return. So you it feels like a loss. Like, at least if you're shopping, you get something, but then it's like more of a like, okay, how much are you spending that I would be comfortable with? And also just like people spend things on different things. Like, I don't think people like would spend as much as like we do on like Taylor Swift tickets, but we value that, right? Yeah, yeah. It's you so you know it's all different, but yeah, that's an interesting, that's an interesting situation.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, but can't I feel like gambling's a little different? Yeah, yeah, you're you're just throwing away money at the end of the day. And it's like if you're gambling, like, do you really think you're gonna win? Like these are it's you're going against like computers in like Vegas and stuff.

SPEAKER_00:

House always wins, especially if you're playing with a rigged mob game, like we know does happen in some NBA circles.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, exactly. Probably not reading that fine print when you sign up for those online gambling things, but there might be some sketchy in there.

SPEAKER_00:

There could be. Well, good luck with your situation. We wish you wish you the best. Um, and that's all we have time for today. Thanks everyone for tuning in. We'll be back on Wednesday and Friday with another episode, like we said, our book club episode.

SPEAKER_01:

And this book club, I will say, will be good because it's a book that um would be like interesting to hear about, even if you didn't read it. Yes. Thanks everyone. Thanks everyone. Have a great day. Bye. Bye.
