In Episode 6, Carlos talks to Richard Bryars, Director of Strategy and Implementation at Action for Children and an alumnus of the Executive MSc Social Business and Entrepreneurship (EMSBE) at LSE.
Richard has built his career at the intersection of business strategy and social purpose. He has held senior leadership roles at some of the UK’s largest mutuals, including the Co-operative Group and John Lewis Partnership, where he developed strategies to balance profit and purpose, supported the growth of employee ownership, and launched innovative ventures like John Lewis Financial Services and the Co-op’s online pharmacy.
In 2022, Richard joined Action for Children, where he now leads strategy, impact, business planning, risk, and improvement. Alongside his professional career, he has served as Chair of Trustees for Childreach and sits on the Board of Trustees at the New Economics Foundation.
Carlos Miranda is a social entrepreneur and Practitioner in Residence at the Marshall Institute. Carlos is the founder of I.G. Advisors and has worked across philanthropy, nonprofit strategy, and tech-for-good, advising major global institutions and building social ventures over the past 15 years.
