Police have just arrived at an RV site to complete a welfare check after they received a concerning call from a frantic employer who believes something bad just happened to the woman she was on a call with.

SPEAKER_18

Oh, it's hot there. Yeah, something's burning. They're like 120 degrees now. So you wanted to turn the burn that's all murdered.

SPEAKER_00

What seemed like a routine check took a dark turn when officers stepped into the RV and found it burning hot, with 26-year-old Jamie Wilson spray deceased inside, unnaturally tangled in her bed sheets.

SPEAKER_16

Oh, she's right there on the bed.

SPEAKER_00

As the detectives began the murder investigation, they were met with more questions than answers, but the deeper they looked, they realized the killer was far closer to home than they first thought.

SPEAKER_11

I thought it was weird that he didn't like acknowledge me at all. Someone's ordering pizza, they know the pizza guy's coming.

SPEAKER_05

I had a chance to talk with him, and he shared something a little bit different. What did he expect?

SPEAKER_00

She had just ended a job interview call with 25-year-old Jamie Wilson Spray, but not deliberately. She described that during their phone interview, Jamie suddenly screamed before the phone cut off. And that's when she immediately called 911. What the first responders thought was a normal welfare check would in a few moments turn into one of Washington's most disturbing cases.

SPEAKER_02

No windows you can see through. I mean she probably would take her uh vehicle to work, right? You'd think she'd take her vehicle to work.

SPEAKER_16

Yeah. Again, unless she was with somebody. And here I'll let you listen because uh I can hear it vibrating in there.

SPEAKER_19

That's no good. It's vibrating. That's probably enough to make entry, huh?

SPEAKER_16

Yeah. Let's see if the door is open now. It's locked.

SPEAKER_19

Police department.

SPEAKER_16

Jamie. See if he has a key.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, I'm welcome.

SPEAKER_00

When the cops heard Jamie's phone ringing out inside the trailer, but no sign of her. They had enough reason to make forced entrance into the caravan, yet they weren't prepared for what was about to meet them inside.

SPEAKER_16

Okay, I'll follow up more with you later on this, but uh at this point I'm I'm trying to figure out how to get in that trailer. 0566, can you come up here to 70s? He says he has a key in Lewiston. I'm like, we're not gonna wait. Wonder if there'd be one somewhere.

SPEAKER_19

We're gonna get another up here 70s.

SPEAKER_16

Maybe bring the halligan? Or do you want to pop that window? Oh my god here.

SPEAKER_18

Oh, it's hot in the shit there. Smoky? Uh kinda. Yeah, something's burning. Burner's on.

SPEAKER_16

There's an open window. We haven't found anybody yet. I will call you back.

SPEAKER_19

I think the area I can't see is back to the left here for the most part.

SPEAKER_16

Yeah. She is uh he called me again.

SPEAKER_18

So you wanted this uh trailer to burn down?

SPEAKER_16

That's what I'm wondering. Hey, there's some keys right there on the counter. Can you reach them? That would that would get us in.

SPEAKER_02

What's that say that?

SPEAKER_16

Her keys are right there on the on the end of the table.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_16

We can grab those. Uh you gotta ask. I wondered when it was all s kind of uh sweaty on the windows. I was like a chair right below you can oh I think you did. Oh, she's right there on the bed.

unknown

What?

SPEAKER_16

No, doesn't look like it.

SPEAKER_07

Is she in there? Yeah Bullman four six nine. Have medic step that we're having a medical emergency.

SPEAKER_19

She's got lipidity on her arms.

SPEAKER_16

Yeah. The stove's stove was on.

SPEAKER_19

Yeah, it's like there's like 120 degrees in there.

SPEAKER_16

Like someone was trying to burn it down. Okay, what I think.

SPEAKER_07

The gas was on?

SPEAKER_19

The stove was on. The burner was on. That's like it's like 120 degrees in there. So you burn burn it.

SPEAKER_00

At first, the cops thought Jamie was passed out from the fumes or a substance she took, but as they waited for medical services to arrive, they spotted marks on her neck, the same marks that appear when someone gets strangled, along with signs of a sexual assault. But before starting the homicide investigation, the cops had to take Jamie's dog away from the scene, and most importantly, get Jamie medical help.

SPEAKER_04

It sounds like we were on a welfare check. I just got to work and they someone had called. She'd been on the phone with someone, they heard some screaming bloody murder, and then the line went dead. Um, and then we'd been looking for him for about an hour and a half, finally found her, and looked like they tried to burn the apartment down. And Ryan they thought it was probably a strangulation in this trailer. So fire's working on her right now, but um we thought she was deceased at least when we got here. Come here, come here.

SPEAKER_14

I gotcha. I got you, buddy.

SPEAKER_18

Alright, come on, dear. Oh, I got the dog out. Alright, come on. Yeah, Doug's gonna come. You're okay.

SPEAKER_14

You're okay.

SPEAKER_01

I'll give you the flashlight back.

SPEAKER_14

Alright, I'm gonna pick you up so it's a little easier, okay?

unknown

Alright. Way over there.

SPEAKER_08

Alright, I got you. Alright.

SPEAKER_07

Alright. Yep, thank you.

SPEAKER_05

So probably the best way to do this without doing a lot of stuff is just to go straight up and slide it out.

SPEAKER_17

Slide down. I think that stuff out.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I think if we lift her up and then pull it out.

SPEAKER_17

Yeah, that's fine. I can grasp it's hard to probably pick up and point straight up.

SPEAKER_00

Once the scene was secured and Jamie was receiving medical help, the medics informed the cops on scene that Jamie's pulse had completely stopped, declaring her deceased on scene, which confirmed a murder investigation. It was time for the cops to start questioning the neighbors, and what they would uncover was about to send them headfirst into a far more complex case. Now, imagine seeing so much more. Well, that's why we went all out and decided to create channels in every niche, which are still based on true crime for you to enjoy. I mean, who doesn't like seeing people's reactions like these? From no commentary to just interrogation, because I know some of you guys hate that, but that's not the end. We really enjoy what we are building, so we have an exclusive Patreon community where they get first hand access to anything we post and all uncensored footage and images. And some of the things are truly horrifying.

SPEAKER_08

Hi, I'm sorry to bother you. Oh, sorry. Come on, honey, get it.

SPEAKER_15

Get in here. Yes, ma'am.

SPEAKER_10

Um, so I am contacting ya. Um there was a major incident um behind ya, and I was curious and come here, Jesus, come on.

SPEAKER_14

Damn it, come here. Get in here, let me get my shoes. Okay. You're a pain in the butt. Okay, now what?

SPEAKER_10

That's okay. Um, so there was a major incident in the trailer nearby, and I was curious if you heard or saw anything this afternoon. No, nothing. Nothing. Okay.

SPEAKER_15

Also, I did see all the red lights and everything. I peeked out the window, but no, I didn't hear anything. Okay. What was it?

SPEAKER_10

Um, somebody has passed away. So, um we're just trying to get to the bottom of what occurred. So, um didn't hear anything doing? And I'm sorry, what's your name again? My name is Dean. Dean. And Dean, um, what is your phone number?

SPEAKER_15

What's yours?

SPEAKER_10

Uh 911. Um, well, thanks for your time. Sorry to bug you. Have a better evening. Yeah, I'm on. I knew something happened. I'm sorry.

SPEAKER_15

No, no, no, I'm just no, I'm just saying, you know, I just was right there. Like, you know, the in Moscow with the kids that got killed. You know, it's only seven miles here.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, it's a crazy world we live in.

SPEAKER_15

It is. That's why I stayed in myself and my idiot dog.

SPEAKER_09

Your dog sounds is sweet.

SPEAKER_15

She just loves everybody.

SPEAKER_09

She I can tell. She is a sweet, sweet dog.

SPEAKER_15

Did you even let her climb on you?

SPEAKER_09

I I love dogs. I don't it doesn't bother me at all.

SPEAKER_15

So do I. Uh what was your name? Heidi. Heidi.

SPEAKER_10

Hi. Um, my name's Heidi Lamley. I'm a police officer at the city of Hullman. Sorry to bother you. Um, we had a major incident occur uh with one of your neighbors this evening.

SPEAKER_09

Oh.

SPEAKER_10

And so I was hoping to find out if you guys heard or saw anything. Okay. Sorry. That's okay.

SPEAKER_12

I thought you were some church studies, I saw. Oh no!

SPEAKER_10

Sorry.

SPEAKER_12

Uh uh, yeah. Um just been chilling, watching TV, playing some video games. It's my day off type of thing.

SPEAKER_10

Have you been home all day?

SPEAKER_12

All I went to the grocery store around I was back by five.

SPEAKER_10

Okay. Um, do you know your neighbor that's kind of kitty corner to you in the white trailer?

SPEAKER_12

Uh those ones, no, the ones the they have the siding tucked up to that fence, the this guy's fence on the back side, or I think so, yeah. Uh all I know is really that that siding up took and off in the last windstorm. Okay. That's about it.

SPEAKER_10

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

The police were having no luck with the neighbors until a red car arrived on scene, and the woman inside told the cops something that would set the investigation back into motion.

SPEAKER_07

Hi. I'm off screamer. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Uh so you live in the the black and white imagine.

SPEAKER_07

The the black imagine.

SPEAKER_01

Number seven.

SPEAKER_07

Okay, what time did you leave?

SPEAKER_01

Um, I don't know exactly what time I left. I got to the gym at 5.55 because I paid for parking, so the tank timestamp's on there. Um maybe like a little bit before that, maybe like 10-15 minutes before that.

SPEAKER_07

So you were at the gym 5.55. So tell me from like just before you left until you get to the gym.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so actually the pizza got delivered as I was changing to go to the gym, so like it all was within like a pretty close time frame. Okay. Um, and then I got out there because I know their numbering's kind of weird, so I like stuck my head out and told the guy where to go, but I gave him the wrong direction and I told him to go that way. He got sent back this way, so the neighbor next to me should also know about the pizza. Okay. Um, and then they came back and delivered it to the house. Um your house. No, to the other house, the one that's on the screen. So it should be six. So they cracked So the White One. Okay. So the phone the pizza went to the mallet. To the to the white RV directly next to me.

SPEAKER_07

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Um, and then I changed, and I think it was like a little bit after the pizza got delivered that I heard the scream.

SPEAKER_07

Do you do you remember what pizza was it like?

SPEAKER_01

It was Domino's.

SPEAKER_07

Domino's?

SPEAKER_01

Delivery driver case. Um, it was white. I didn't get to see like the entire car, but it it was a white car.

SPEAKER_07

Was the pizza person still here when you heard the scream, or were they gone?

SPEAKER_01

They had left. I don't know. I mean, I didn't see their car in the window anymore. And like, I saw them go up to the door because I watched him. I feel really bad for them because their the numbers aren't on there, so I watched him go to the neighbor's the wrong neighbor's house. Um, and then I saw that neighbor point him into the right direction of the right house. And then I saw him walk over to the right house and go in. Or like go around the corner.

SPEAKER_07

And when did you hear the scream shortly after?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it was like shortly after the piece of I like I said, I couldn't really make out what kind of scream it was. I figured it was like an excited scream. I saw that the neighbor had a visitor, which she normally doesn't have.

SPEAKER_07

Um we're talking about the mallard.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, the white one, right? So she She normally doesn't have anyone in there. It's usually just her. Um it's just like her and her truck. Um, but I saw that she had like somebody else there, and it was like a red SUV. Um, I think it might have been her significant other. I saw them like move their RV the day that like she got here, and it was the RV and then another car. Well, the RV with the truck, and then that red car had moved her in, and I did see the guy, and they like kissed, so I'm guessing it was like her significant other.

SPEAKER_07

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

And I didn't know if it was like an excited scream or like a scary scream.

SPEAKER_07

Okay. So it's a red SUV?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it was like Maroon.

SPEAKER_00

Jamie wasn't known in the neighborhood to have any visitors over or a partner. So detectives had one major question. Who was the visitor in her home?

SPEAKER_07

You saw the visitor?

SPEAKER_01

I didn't see him, but I I mean when he I saw him drive the car when she dropped when he dropped her off here. So I know that it was a dropped her off today? No, like when she moved in. She moved in a little bit ago. Like I think like within the last like month and a half month. She hasn't been here for very long. So I like just happened to be home when she was pulling the RV in.

SPEAKER_07

Oh when you a month ago.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Uh describe that guy to me.

SPEAKER_01

Um, I didn't really see him super duper well because like the RV windows sit at a certain angle, so like I didn't see his face very well. I'm gonna be honest, he was like bending over a lot, so I got a great shot of his butt and nothing else. Um I mean he seemed uh he's taller than her, darker hair.

SPEAKER_07

I think that's all the questions I got. So I'm sure somebody's gonna talk to you.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_13

Should I just stick around?

SPEAKER_07

Uh you can go home.

SPEAKER_13

Okay.

SPEAKER_07

If you want to, but probably park my car somewhere else. Uh, I would probably just drive around.

SPEAKER_00

The woman explained that Jamie, or someone staying in her caravan, had ordered dominoes. The delivery driver accidentally knocked on her door first, and she directed him to Jamie's caravan instead. Shortly after, she heard a scream. When she looked outside, she noticed the same red SUV parked near Jamie's home that had been there on the day she moved in, along with the tall man with brown hair. However, she couldn't provide any further details about the visitor. With this new information, the detectives had to regroup and plan their next move. It was now clear that someone had been in Jamie's house the day she was murdered, someone she clearly knew. But they were met with a hurdle that would stall this investigation.

SPEAKER_05

She is supine with her head at the head of the trailer up here, her feet down away from the head of the trailer. She's got scratches uh on her left neck here, and she has three distinct scratches. Like three finger uh well, like fingernail marks right here on her right side. She's unconscious and uh discover her the stove is on, and there's a pan on the stove. Uh Ryan says it's like 120 degrees in there. Um there's burnt material in front of the stove, so don't know if he was, you know, suspect is trying to burn the thing down. Okay. So paramedics pour out, they do CPR for near an hour, probably. Um called death at 1741 58. Before they entered, or before we entered. So I turned off the tanks. Oh yeah, Doug turned off the tanks, but the stove has been left alone. So stove hasn't touched the stove. So uh so medics call time of death at 1941-58. Um we need a search warrant for the trailer. Um, but probably a search warrant for his home too. Right. So so we need search warrants and all that stuff, but as far as curling this scene, we need a search warrant for the trailer. Gary Jones is gonna help us out with a fire investigation just so we can see to figure out what is it we can say happened with this burnt material.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Um, and so we'll at least we'll have that. He's gotta write their own.

SPEAKER_02

Well, we'll probably have to have somebody here almost all night.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, Brock of Monsieur. So, yes, we need to do that in the morning. Yes, that is not gonna happen tonight. Searching the trailer's not gonna happen tonight. We gotta do that in the morning. But we do need we probably need to get her out of here. Um I don't want to leave her out here all night. No, no. Um, okay. So we need to get her documented and everything as best as possible. I'm thinking that uh if we have Scotty come out, Scotty can come out and do photos for us. Yeah. Maybe he can take photos for us. Or I mean I don't care if you guys want to do it, but I don't know how to use that goddamn camera. I mean, I know how to use it well enough, but I don't even know how to use it as a full-on DSLR.

SPEAKER_00

Um Because the police department had no warrants yet, they were unable to bring out the forensics team to start collecting evidence. Yet one thing they were able to notice was three scratch marks on Jamie's neck, meaning whoever did this to her would have her DNA under their fingernails. But this was useless information until forensics collected and processed DNA samples. With time slipping away, detectives know they can't wait any longer. So the detectives decided to try to track the Domino's delivery guy, and this is where things start to take a concerning turn.

SPEAKER_07

No. Okay. Uh I need to track down a delivery driver that made a delivery earlier because I need to talk to him. He's not in trouble. And I don't know who it is. Can you look up an order or something?

SPEAKER_11

Yeah, I only started a couple months ago, so I'm gonna go ask my manager to make it. Okay.

SPEAKER_07

Okay, so I'm trying to track down the delivery driver. Not in trouble. Uh but I need to ask him some pretty sensitive questions. Uh can you look up an order and tell me who that driver was?

SPEAKER_17

Uh you have a it uh they said it was like a white sedan.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah. I just need to talk to them. They're not. In any trouble. Yeah.

SPEAKER_17

So I have some details and anything you want to quickly on.

SPEAKER_07

Uh he delivered to a house and we just need to know what he saw.

SPEAKER_17

Okay. So it would have probably it was recent, right?

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, today. Probably around 530, between 5 and 530?

SPEAKER_17

Okay. Uh what was that? Is it a specific address or like a general?

SPEAKER_07

I can give you an address.

SPEAKER_17

Oh, sweet. That was addressed.

SPEAKER_07

Uh 605 Fisk? Okay. F-I-S-K. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

The Domino's manager seemed to be hesitant to help the cops, but after a while, he agreed to cooperate and check the database.

unknown

The driver in question is on a delivery right now.

SPEAKER_17

He'll be back in the last eight or nine minutes if we want to talk to him in person.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah. So again, he's not in trouble. I just need maybe like five or ten minutes of his time. So but yeah, it's worth me waiting.

SPEAKER_17

Okay, cool. So you want to talk to him in uh in your car?

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, just where it's quieter. So I'll I'll just be sitting in my car. Okay, thanks, man.

SPEAKER_00

When the driver returned from a delivery, he revealed something vital to the cops.

SPEAKER_07

Uh I have some pretty sensitive questions to ask you.

SPEAKER_11

Okay.

SPEAKER_07

Okay, so you're not in trouble.

SPEAKER_11

Right.

SPEAKER_07

Uh nobody's complained about you.

SPEAKER_11

Okay.

SPEAKER_07

I just need to see what you saw on something.

SPEAKER_11

Uh okay.

SPEAKER_07

Okay.

SPEAKER_11

I'm assuming something happened at that place then.

SPEAKER_07

More than likely. Uh you'll Okay.

SPEAKER_11

Yeah.

SPEAKER_07

So Okay, so earlier today you made a delivery? Yes. To the trailer park? Yes. Okay. Uh do you remember that one? Yes. Okay. Um just walk me through what that that delivery until you left.

SPEAKER_11

Okay. So I go uh well, down Whitman across upstate, down Fitz to the trailer park top row.

SPEAKER_13

Yep.

SPEAKER_11

Um I'm looking at the numbers, it starts with one, it goes down the last like semi-mobile home, you know, but what's I'm talking about? It's like four or something, right?

SPEAKER_13

Okay.

SPEAKER_11

So I'm counting the numbers, and then I see three campers, and they don't have numbers on them, so I'm like, okay. So I count spaces, let's say this is five, maybe this is six. So I go down, I can't see any numbers, and there's no like markings on the electric boxes, like some other parts have. So I call the customer, uh, called her once, didn't answer. I think her name was Jenny. Sorry, TV J maybe, but called her again, didn't answer. And as I'm about to get in my car and knock on, I believe she said seven, um, the lady comes outside, her neighbor says, Are you looking for six? And I said, Yeah. And she said, It's over there. And I thought she went the other direction, so I go down, I knock on eight. He's like, What are you looking for? It said six, he says that way. So I turn around, go back to six, and as I pull up, or as I walk over, a reddish, brownish truck, I believe, possibly SUV, pulls up. A tall guy with glasses, light brown, I'm almost turned a beard, comes out, uh, goes into the trailer, and I'm I'm like right behind him. I don't know if he sees me or not, but as soon as like I hear him close the door, I'm at the door, I knock, he opens the door back up, and I say, Lady's name. And he says, Yeah, and then takes the pizza. I thought it was weird that he didn't like acknowledge me at all. Do you think if someone's ordering pizza, they know the pizza guy's coming, and be like, okay, this is for me. That's usually what happens. But he just went straight in there. So I just went behind him, knocked on the door, and he opened. Wasn't really friendly, but I said the name, he said he had 6'3. He was fairly told. So 6'3 would probably be my last mid-5-6. Late 30s to mid-40s. I almost want to say I remember him as nearly a redhead, but I don't want to say that for sure. He definitely had lighter brown hair glasses.

SPEAKER_00

The delivery guy's version of events exactly matched up to the statement given by the woman in the red car, both describing a tall white man with brown hair. Yet during this interview, the team back at the crime scene also received something vital. Neighbors living on the road approaching the caravan site provided the cops with their ring camera footage, providing them with evidence that would lead them straight to the killer. The first clip showed the red SUV driving down to the caravan site, followed by the second clip where it shows the Domino's driver's white car following soon after to deliver the pizza, confirming the turn of events with video footage. But something else it provided the detectives with was the license plate of the red SUV, which was registered to 36-year-old Jacob Spray, Jamie's ex-husband. Yet, because the detectives didn't have any forensic evidence strong enough to justify an arrest, they had to tread lightly. If they alerted Jacob before they were able to detain him, he could flee. The cops were tense as they arrived at Jacob's property, knowing that one wrong question could ruin everything they had worked for up until this point.

SPEAKER_06

Okay, I wouldn't shoot anything.

SPEAKER_04

You want my weapons idea?

SPEAKER_06

Well, I have a weapon pocket knife.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, can you get it in there for me?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, I'm not. What's going on with Jamie? I need to seriously need it because you guys got me freaking the fuck out. Because you called me, I was just getting off work, and now I can't get a hold of her. I called her sister, and she won't answer my call. All she said was, I can't talk to you right now. And I'm just like literally in tears, freaking the fuck out, and I just don't know what the fuck's going on, and you guys aren't really being forward with me.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, we're trying to make contact with her and figure out if she's okay, I guess, that's the people concerned, so that's kind of why we're following up with everyone.

SPEAKER_06

I I talked to her today. I told you I gave you guys my timeline when it was like 351. Okay. Like that I had talked to her. So So you you talked to her at 351, but you haven't seen her today? No, I we don't really like cross paths. It's been kind of that thing. Gotcha. When um What is the hell is going on?

SPEAKER_04

We're trying to we're trying to get a hold of her. She must be. Was she like arrested? What's going on? No, no, no, no. Um, not arrested. We're trying to locate her or whatnot, and someone was concerned about her, so we haven't heard from her and we're trying to figure out what what's going on.

SPEAKER_06

Uh she's got like a group of new friends. My phone would help me better. Um but you said the truck was there and you said you heard the phone. So she doesn't really leave. Gotcha. She can't leave home without either one, really. So what the fuck, man? What are you trying to tell me right now?

SPEAKER_04

I'm not I'm not telling you anything right now. I'm just kind of trying to figure out what's going on so I can give the officers their way to. I just got here. I just said, hey, can you come talk to me?

SPEAKER_06

She did hook up with a girl in that trailer park. We lived there like over the summer. Um uh this last summer. Nah, like um, and uh there was a girl that she used to hook up with, so and it was like a struggle in our marriage, but she was always like kind of bi. So like, I mean, honestly, I know it's stupid to think, but it's better than somebody else. Like some dude. Like it's like, uh, like I can't hear what they're saying.

SPEAKER_05

Sounds like he's acting like he doesn't know anything happened. Yeah, that's what I was getting from my Andreas.

SPEAKER_04

So I'm just trying to figure out what happened today. What did she send you, or what was the conversation at you said 351, is that in the after this afternoon? It was this afternoon. Okay, what was the conversation then?

SPEAKER_06

We were just talking. Like we were just uh I just sent her a thing about that song. Um it's like uh it's a real popular song right now, uh Don't Take Her From Me. Like, like God can have, God can give it, God can take it. And I said this song will always haunt me. And then I was like, and then the other one from uh we were always on road trips, and it says from strangers to friends to lovers to lovers to friends to strangers, and I always would tell her I never wanted that for us. We're still like cordial. Yeah, like we're still chill. Like, I did call the police on her one time because she like she had uh threatened me with domestic violence. Like she was like gonna stage it.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

Um and so she had like showed up here to like she said to get her dog, but it was the same day that she had like threatened me on TV, and she showed up and I called the police and then she got all mad at me for that. But that's like other than that, we've really been like chills.

SPEAKER_04

And you said you when you received those messages, where were you at? I was in Moscow, gosh. When did you come back to point?

SPEAKER_06

Um six, maybe six thirty.

SPEAKER_00

Whilst the cops were trying to ask questions to do with the timeline of Jacob's day, instead of answering plainly, he kept going into how hard the divorce has been on him and how he hates it, which would become a recurring theme. Yet what he wasn't aware of was that he was unknowingly painting a motive for the cops.

SPEAKER_06

Are you gonna tell me what the fuck this is about? Like, do I need to go to the bank and get bail money or what the fuck?

SPEAKER_04

Um But I've been just trying to figure out what where you where you've been, where she's been, what's the what's going on with with everything?

SPEAKER_06

She hasn't responded to me since you got a hold of me because like I I said I hadn't talked to her. When did the when did the officer get a hold of you? I'd have to look at my phone, but he called me and I was still working.

unknown

Yeah. And uh so I it went aside. I have my headphones in.

SPEAKER_06

Oh I'm fucking working. He left me a voicemail, so when I got off, once I got home, I think I was I think I was like pulling in, and I actually called him back or I checked the voicemail. Oh, once you got home? I think so. Okay. Um I might have called him when I was still in the parking lot, but I I feel like I called him when I got here. Gotcha. Because I was just like curious, I'm like, who is this person? And um he was like, You got keys to that trailer? I was just like, won my wife said? And he's like, Yeah. And I was like, no. We agreed, I wouldn't have any. She's got a key set of keys, and um, I have a set down and listed. And I offered to because he was like, Well, we need to get in there. There was a disturbance, like a checking on the piece, and that was all I ever heard. And then I think you called me, or somebody called me, and said I can hear her phone ringing in there. And so now I'm worried because she was supposed to pick fix the propane thingy, like the propane reader, um, and it broke, and so I was thinking maybe she got like carbon oxide poisoning, but also I know she'd been hanging out with people, so I don't know like if she's like done some bad blow or something.

SPEAKER_00

Interestingly, Jacob mentioned how Jamie's toxic gas indicator was broken, which was convenient as Jamie's trailer was found with the hob on full power. The comps noticed that the odds of making such a random comment was low, unless he knew that her hob was left on in the trailer.

SPEAKER_06

And then I called my dad, uh, just because I was trying to figure out what the hell was going on. And uh nobody was talking to me, so what's your dad's name? Uh Randy. Randy? What'd you tell him about what's going on? Not much. I just needed to know what I should do and if I needed to get funny. Um because I thought I was gonna have to bail her out or something. Gotcha. So I was just trying to figure out like how he does it.

SPEAKER_04

Gotcha. Um and you had so you had your phone, so you made a call to what time did you think you called Randy? Yep. What time did you call your dad? I don't know, what time is it now? Oh, 8 15. 35 minutes ago, 34. Gotcha. And so it sounds like last night everything was was cool. You guys weren't fighting or anything like that? No, everything was fine.

SPEAKER_06

And we were fine today too. Everything was fine. Gotcha. Um like I literally texted her. I said, I got uh confirmation on our divorce paperwork. So like I'll go pay that on Friday. Um, so we're all good. She's like, Do I need to be there? I said, No, no, I guess it sounds to me. Like, I just have to go and show them the secret email, and we're good. And uh we'll have to go in front of a judge at some point, of course. But she told me she loved me. I said, You promise? He said, Yes. Like, I'm sorry, I'm kinda needy. Like, I still love her, even though she loved me. Like, I'm still like I've told her numerous times, I was like, we can't go back, but honestly, if she were to be like, I'll take it back. I'd fucking go back. I think it was just a stress of both of us, you know what I'm saying? Like, we just both were like in a position of this is about to be crazy, and can't I pull this off? Like, you know, good.

SPEAKER_00

It might seem like nothing is progressing, but the goal for the detectives here was to discreetly secure a possible motive and try to catch Jacob out in his own story whilst he was still calm. Yet what the cops didn't know yet was that the last puzzle piece that they needed to arrest Jacob was laying with Jacob's dad.

SPEAKER_06

I I don't want it, sure. Um, but she wants it, I love her, we'll do it. Do I, like I said earlier, if she were to be like, take me back, I would fucking do it in a heartbeat, even though it's like throwing my whole dignity and my everything away. But uh no. Like she was telling me today, she was saying that thousand bucks I gave her, she was like, I think I'm gonna use it and go to California. And I was just like, alright, fuck yeah, like you do you, have fun. Um I hate that you're going far away. Like she was like, move to California or just visit? So she said she was gonna move to Spokane um and stay with Danny, and then her and Danny were gonna go to California. He's like a California native, he's like a rich boy. Gotcha. Um and he's gay, so I really wasn't worried about it. I'm like, yeah, go be your roommates with him. Uh but uh yeah, that's what she was talking about today when we were chatting.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Um whilst the cops were speaking to Jacob, another officer parked down the road from Jacob's house received a call. And the information that was revealed changed this case completely.

SPEAKER_19

Hi, that's Randy. Hi, Randy. This is Officer McNanny with the Pullman Police Department. Um, my dispatch said uh you had some information, so I was just giving you a call to follow up on that. Um, and just so you know that uh our calls are uh audio recorded. Um but uh what can you tell me your uh full name real quick?

SPEAKER_03

My name is Randy C. Spray.

SPEAKER_19

Okay. And so you're up in uh you're you're in Cordalane right now.

SPEAKER_03

Is that what we're at the Cordelaine Casino right at the moment, but we're packing up. We're packing up to head back to Lewiston right now. Okay, so you live in Lewiston then? Yes.

SPEAKER_19

Okay, okay, um, yeah, so can you uh can you tell me what you called her dispatch about?

SPEAKER_03

My son called me about a half hour ago, and him and his wife uh are going through a divorce, and he called me and told me that he had killed her.

SPEAKER_19

Okay. And this was a half hour ago he called you?

SPEAKER_03

About a half hour, 45 minutes ago, yes. And he told me uh not to call the police, and I told him I would.

SPEAKER_19

Okay. Did he say anything else about what happened or no?

SPEAKER_03

He said just said that uh do not call the police. Um I killed my wife.

SPEAKER_19

Okay, and he said he shot her?

SPEAKER_03

I don't know what he did, honestly.

SPEAKER_19

Okay, okay.

SPEAKER_03

He just he just said he killed her.

SPEAKER_19

Okay. How do you know it was uh your son that called?

SPEAKER_03

I know my son. And uh and it was it was his it came up on caller ID, it was his phone.

SPEAKER_19

Okay, and you recognized his voice?

SPEAKER_03

Absolutely.

SPEAKER_19

Okay. So did did he give you any other detail about uh what what he was doing or what what led up to this? No.

SPEAKER_03

He just said he killed her, and for me not to uh not to call the police. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

The cops just received exactly what they needed in order to proceed with detaining Jacob. So the officer who was on call to Jacob's dad discreetly informed the rest of the squad, putting the plan in motion. Yet it wouldn't go as planned.

SPEAKER_05

Um and who else did you call tonight? I called my father. Okay, what did you tell your father?

SPEAKER_06

Um, that I'm freaking out because the police called and that uh Jamie's not answering my phone calls, and I don't know what to do, and I asked him if he could call her and see if she's okay, and maybe she's just ignoring me and not like actually her. Okay. And he was at the casino, and I don't think he heard me because he was there in my court lane casino.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

And so we were cutting in and out, so I don't think he heard me, and then the phone went dead. Okay.

SPEAKER_05

Um what else did you talk to him about? That was a um how's your relationship with with uh with him? My best friend? Y your father's your best friend. Okay. My hero. He's your hero. Yeah. Dude, tell me about that.

SPEAKER_06

Well, he's a vet. Um, you know, he uh worked his ass off in a lumber mill, which ended up breaking his body down. Oh wow. Um he had to get bone spurs removed out his neck where they had to pull his esophagus to the side and put a cage in on his shit. He's still going through pain. He's uh survived three different types of cancer. Wow. Um he's got the best fucking looking long in spite of all that, right? Uh yeah. He's got the best looking lawn. Yeah, he walks like this. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

But best fucking long. Yeah. You need somebody really respecting that. Yes. Um, yeah. So when uh when when Jamie had told you that she didn't want to be married anymore, um, did you talk with him at all?

SPEAKER_06

Or oh yeah, we well, I go down there every weekend now. Yeah. It's lonely here. You know what I mean? Um nobody else lives with you here? Nope. Okay, gotcha. Um, and so yeah, like I go down there every weekend. And yeah, Fridays, I take care of whatever business I have to do here in town. I go down there. Um, I'll stay Friday night, Saturday night, I come back Sunday, you know, write some menus for work, um, touch up the apartment a little bit, like cleanly wise, and uh yeah, like the rest of the week. I'm just fucking watching Modern Family. Yeah. So like I had to switch it though. Jamie made me get a different account um because she goes, I fell asleep to that. I was like, Is that why I didn't find out how they had a baby? Yeah. I was like, I was trying to figure out how they had a baby. She's like, Yeah, that's my bad, like I just had a plan. Like, okay. I was like, Yeah, I'll stop now because I'm actually trying to watch it all the way through. So the cow's calling about Jamie, yeah, and I can't get a hold of her. I said, would you call? Like but I don't think he heard me because like he didn't say yes.

SPEAKER_05

Uh uh uh From this moment on everything was about to switch So uh so that you know he had we we had been at we've had a chance to talk with him um and he shared something a little bit different that you had shared with him. Can you tell me a little more about that part of it though? What did he say? Well, he told us he told us something slightly different. Um and I I suspect you might know what he said differently.

SPEAKER_13

I got this arm! Get on the ground!

SPEAKER_04

Don't just grab it!

unknown

Don't you grab it?

SPEAKER_04

Do it now! I got this arm pin. That's our pin.

SPEAKER_14

I'm locking up! Oh me, me, me! That's me! That's me! Stop! Fuck!

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, I'm done! I'm done, I'm done, I'm done, I'm done! You're under the fucking arrest! I'm done! I'm done! I got left-on pin.

SPEAKER_15

Dude, I'm done!

SPEAKER_00

The chase was over, as Jacob Spray was arrested and formally charged with first-degree murder, along with a separate charge of first-degree rape, as investigators laid out the case against him for the killing of his ex-wife, Jamie Wilson Spray. Prosecutors argued that the motive was rooted in obsession and jealousy, claiming Jacob couldn't accept the end of their marriage and became increasingly controlling as Jamie tried to move on with her life. Jacob was found guilty, and in March 2025, the judge sentenced Jacob Spray to 26 years in prison, the maximum standard sentence allowed under Washington state law.
