My Sister Made Me Watch This
Sisters Michelle and Cherie revisit TV shows and movies from their childhood and their different perspectives on them. As the older sister, Cherie most often controlled the television and subjected Michelle to shows that she would never have chosen to watch on her own.
My Sister Made Me Watch This
010 The Wild Wild West: The Most 1870s Show of the 1960s
This week, Michelle and Cherie wrangle with one of TV’s strangest genre mashups ever: The Wild, Wild West. Not just a western. Not just a spy show. And definitely not just a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen (though Robert Conrad’s split pants might disagree).
Join us as we:
- Argue about whether it’s Wild West or The Wild, Wild West (hint: it’s extra wild)
- Try to explain “steampunk” (spoiler: it is NOT just surly kids standing over a subway grate)
- Share why swinging from chandeliers is never a good idea
- Question why Robert Conrad had to change his pants so often
- Marvel at Ross Martin’s disguises and debate whether actors should design their own costumes
- Quiz each other about recurring villains, surprise guest stars (The Skipper! The Penguin! Endora!)
- Revisit the infamous 1999 movie… and decide Will Smith probably wishes he’d taken The Matrix instead
So dust off your stovepipe hat, check the seams in your trousers, and join us for a gleefully over-the-top trip back to the 1960s version of the 1870s.
Where to watch: Streaming free on Pluto TV, or for rent/purchase on Amazon Prime.
