Episode
When Your Body Feels Like The Enemy
Fertility struggles have a way of changing the relationship we have with our bodies.
Appointments.
Tests.
Scans.
Results.
Over time, it's easy to move from:
"This is something I'm experiencing."
to
"Something is wrong with me."
In this episode, we're exploring what happens when your body starts to feel more like a problem to solve than a place to call home.
We'll talk about:
• Why fertility struggles can create feelings of disconnection, frustration and distrust towards our bodies
• The impact of being reduced to numbers, results and diagnoses
• Why your body has not been failing you
• How self-compassion can become the first step towards rebuilding trust
This isn't about forcing yourself to feel positive.
It's about creating space for a gentler, more compassionate relationship with yourself and your body, exactly as you are right now.
If you've ever felt angry with your body, disappointed by it, or disconnected from it, this episode is for you.

Hi, lovely. This, episode is one that matters quite a lot to me, and I hope it reaches the person who needs it most. Whilst you're on this journey, your body becomes a place of enormous scrutiny. It's the focus of attention, your own and every Tom, Dick, and Harry. Scans, blood tests, cycles monitored, responses measured, results compared, all your personal identity, The bits that are privately yours, just becomes everybody's business. Your body is discussed in clinical language, assessed, and sometimes found wanting. And when things don't go the way you hoped, when your treatments don't work, when losses sadly happen, when your body responds differently to how you needed it or wanted it to, it's almost impossible not to internalize that. You move from, "This didn't work," to, "My body failed me." From, "This is hard, and that's okay," to, "Something is wrong with me." And that shift, quiet as it often is, can change everything. It can change how safe you feel in your own skin, how much you trust in your body's signals, how much you trust that it's going to do what it's meant to do, and how connected you feel to yourself But what I'd like you to Try to believe is that your body has not been failing you. Your body has been doing something remarkable. Despite everything that's been going on, your body has been responding, adapting, surviving under conditions of sustained and constant physical and emotional stress. All the hormones, the interventions, the grief, the hope, the loss, that is a profound amount for any human body to hold. And the way you feel about your body right now, it may be distrust, disconnection, frustration. That is not a character flaw. That is a completely understandable response to an experience that is genuinely extremely difficult. I watched the medical system do incredible things, but I also watched it unintentionally reduce women to their results, to their lining thickness, their AMH levels, their embryo grades, their ovarian quality. And somewhere in that process, the woman herself can feel completely lost and unimportant. But you are not your results. You're not your diagnosis. You are not defined by what your body has or hasn't done yet And healing that relationship with your body isn't something that happens overnight, but it does begin somewhere. Honest Often it begins with the smallest act of compassion towards yourself, of acknowledging even for one quiet moment that your body has been through something hard and that it deserves gentleness and kindness, not punishment That is something I come back to again and again in my own life as well as my work The nervous system heals in safety, in stillness, in moments that say you are okay right here, right now, and you're safe Time to give yourself a gentle space to begin reconnecting with yourself, with your body, with the gentle sense of safety that this journey can quietly erode and take away If this has brought something up for you, something you've been holding onto You're not alone. And you don't have to make sense of it all today, but maybe just be willing to be a little kinder to yourself Much kinder, if possible, than this journey has perhaps taught you to be. And that's enough. That's more than enough. And until next time, I'm here for you
