Welcome back to Rewrite the Rules!
Today, it's just you and me.
Lately, I've been thinking a lot about how many women have incredible ideas, dreams, and businesses sitting in their heads... but they're waiting for the perfect time to start.
Here's the truth: that perfect moment doesn't exist.
In this episode, I share the story of how I launched my very first content retreat without a website, without a polished sales page, and honestly, without having everything figured out. I simply took the next step, and that one decision completely changed the direction of my business.
We also talk about why I believe there's never been a better time in history to build something of your own, how AI and social media have changed the game, and why the people you surround yourself with matter more than you think.
If you've been sitting on an idea, waiting until you're more qualified, more confident, or more "ready," this episode is your reminder to stop waiting and start building.
In this episode, we cover:
• Why perfection is keeping so many women stuck
• The story behind my first content retreat
• Launching before everything was "ready"
• How AI and social media have created opportunities we've never had before
• Why your environment shapes your vision
• Learning as you build instead of before you begin
• The importance of celebrating the journey, not just the milestones
• One simple challenge to help you take your next step today
My hope is that when you finish this episode, you'll stop waiting for permission and start taking action. You don't have to know every step. You just have to take the next one.
If this episode encouraged you, I'd love for you to share it with a friend who's been sitting on a dream. And if you haven't already, leave a review, it helps more people discover the show.

Welcome to the Jordan Reynolds Show. Rewrite the Rules, the podcast for the girl who knows that she's going for more but wonders if the dream life is too much. I'm Jordan, a 31-year-old entrepreneur who's built multiple six-figure businesses, traveled to 18 countries, and created a life that gives me the freedom to live how I wanted. But it wasn't always like that. For years I played small, followed the rules, and carried others' expectations. I questioned how I was supposed to live life, almost telling myself it was time to grow up, I live safe, or that maybe I was silly. This podcast isn't just about business, it's about health, mindset, habits, and all the things that help you build a life that feels fully yours. This show is for women ready to stop waiting for permission and start creating a life they actually want. You'll hear real stories, honest mindset shifts, and practical tools to help you rewrite your own rules. If you're ready to stop shrinking and start choosing, you're in the right place. Welcome back to the Jordan Reynolds show, Rewrite the Rules, you guys. Today I am doing a solo cast and excited to spend some time with you guys and just hang out. So grab a cute little mocktail and or if you're walking, like go for a walk with me. This is great. I just want to chat about something, and I'm curious. I know we have a lot of female founders that listen to this uh podcast, but also like business owners and girls that are thinking about doing something and taking that next step. And so I just want to talk about something that I've been thinking about, especially being around a lot of people, going to a lot of events lately, and it's the fact that like the conversations and the company that I love to be around has shifted so much in my life. I have been so blessed to have been an entrepreneur since I was 19 years old. And I think I've always really loved like the possibility, the potential, like seeing what it is that I can really create and do in my life and help other people do the same thing. And there truly is nothing that I love more than honestly having conversations about that. And I was recently at a dinner with, you know, some girls and they're lovely and wonderful. And that none of them have businesses, none of them are like really heavily involved in anything that they're like going for, like goal-wise. Um, and for me, it's like I struggle in situations like that. I tend to ask a lot of questions about themselves. And I mean, I feel like when I talk about the things I do, they just stare at me and they're like, um, who brought this weirdo girl here? And I'm like, that's fine. Like I've kind of been the interesting girl my entire life. I mean, I started in network marketing at 19, and within a year to a year and a half, I was making more than my professors in college. And, you know, I had my sorority sisters ask me, like, Jordan, are you really making that kind of money? And I'm like, I mean, yeah, like it takes a lot of work, it's worth it. And I love like the amount of people that I'm helping, but yeah, and they kind of thought it was odd and weird. And it's funny because now a lot of them are like, man, I should have joined you then. And I'm like, join me now, girl. Like, let's go. There's never been a better time. And if you've ever coached me or heard me on anything, you know that I personally believe that this time, you guys, there's never been a better time in our lives that we can create whatever it is that we want to create. You know, like where out where else in history, you guys, could a normal girl from Oklahoma, I'm talking about myself, if you're like, who is this girl? I'm listening to her podcast. Hi, I'm Jordan. I live in Oklahoma, born and raised. I literally live 10 minutes from the house that I grew up in. It shocks everybody that I know. And I did not graduate college. I struggled in school a lot, and I have been an entrepreneur since I was 19. And you guys, listen to me when I say this. Where else in history could a girl like me, okay, be able to create things like content retreats? I absolutely love them. I got the idea coming home from an event last year on a plane with no Wi-Fi, and my AirPods did, they just died. And I was like sitting there and I was like, oh my gosh, like, no, it's two and a half hours from Salt Lake to home. So what am I gonna do? And I got this crazy idea, and I was like, you know what? I'm gonna act on it. Within a week, I had the house booked. I started talking about it, and the retreat like happened in April. It was amazing. And since then, I've hosted three of them. We have our fourth one in California in September. Where else in history could someone like me, where I do not have the qualifications that, you know, back then they really thought a business person or entrepreneur needed, where else could I have done that? I couldn't. And so today I want you to hear me when I say this. I don't care where you have been in your life. It is time to get off of your butt and start taking steps towards the life that you want. This is not gonna be a motivational fluffy podcast today. We're just gonna like talk like I would talk to you if we're like getting coffee. I would look you in your face and say, friend, what is the thing that you have been wanting to do that you consistently, consistently are putting off or saying that you are not good enough, you're not smart enough, you can't do this. Because guess what else, guys? AI, you like it or not, it's here. And if you're a business owner, I highly recommend that you use it. You know, there's pros and cons to everything. But here's the thing, you guys, we don't have to build or do things alone anymore. Yes, they need prompting, but if there is anything that you want to build in 2026 and beyond, you guys, AI is here. We have so many tools that we did not have when I first started. I like to go back and think at 19, I'm like, man, if we had AI back then, whoo, your girl would be doing a lot of things. And it's so cool what we are able to create right now, you know, with social media. And I will also say this about social. You know, I've been a big social girl since I was 17. I really saw the potential that social had back then because I was teaching fitness classes and I knew that if your classes were not full, you got pulled off the schedule. So I thought, well, Jordan, let's create like a little fitness community. And then when I started network marketing, that definitely really helps me be able to help more people and grow my business too. And I saw what social could do. Where else in any moment of time, you guys, do we have AI the way that it is? People are looking for connections the way that they're looking for them now and in-person things and working with people. You know, women are so collaborative now. And I have heard from so many women that have been, you know, in this space longer than I have, and they're like, Jordan, like this used to not be this way. The fact that women are championing championing each other and they like actually want to see you win, like it's just so different than it used to be. And I'm like, cool. This needs to be talked about because all of the reasons that you're sitting here saying, Oh my gosh, like I have to wait. Oh my gosh, like I gotta wait for the right time. I just don't know yet. Like, I need to get better at this. I really need to like, you know, get things in line and I need to learn more about this. And I'm just like, if you would just like try it 10%, like that's all I want for you. I just want you to take a step, you guys, and I'm gonna share something I've never talked about. And it's like, oh my gosh, Jordan, how did you launch this retreat? And how did you sell it? Because like you got this idea on an airplane and you didn't have a website last year. So let's just talk about it, guys. Because if you've ever worked with me, I'm like, number one, I love testing things. I think data is amazing, and I love to just try things because, like, you guys, we all only have one life and only so much time on this planet. Like, let's just try things and like if it doesn't work out, it's like cool. Like, next. But I want to tell you a couple stories today that will hopefully get you off your booty and launch the thing because there's people that are waiting for you, and you never know what this can turn into. So I will say I've I never thought whenever I started the content retreats last year that legit, I'm not gonna give away the next two local the next location, but I will say this never thought I would start them in the woods of Oklahoma, in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, and we would have just had the most bougie house of my dreams in Scottsdale, Arizona, you guys, and the most incredible group of women. We had women that own nonprofits, women that are business owners, women that are speakers, they're authors, they have other businesses, and they are so stinking excited about what they're building. We had the most bougiest house in Scottsdale ever in the fall. And we're going to California in Oceanside, California. We're staying on the beach in a multi, multi, multi-million dollar property. It is fire. I never thought getting that idea on an airplane, coming home from a line. And if you are not, if you've never been in the align room in the aligned space, it's happening in November. I'll be there doing a social media workshop. You have to get in this room, you guys. It is not a fluff room. Getting in the room is a huge piece of like my own journey and really being able to like see a vision for my life because who we surround ourselves with is so important. So, with that being said, got this idea. Okay. I come home from this event last year and I'm like, dude, I don't even have a website. Like, I don't even know. I can build landing pages like like a machine, but I don't have a current website. So how am I gonna launch this? Because I need to launch it quick because it's happening in April. And I sold that retreat just sending Stripe invoices. I didn't have a landing page. I didn't have anything. I don't even think I had really cute graphics, y'all. Like I might have had one or two, but I basically took the photo of the house, put some text on it in Canva, and I said, Well, let's just see what happens. And the retreat was amazing, you guys. It was amazing. Now the second one, we had a website. We got we got our life together a little bit, but had I waited until everything was perfect, who knows? Number one, if I would have even launched the thing, because I know that whenever we wait and wait and wait, it becomes harder because we're like, well, you know, life's busy. Like, will this really make sense in the fall? Like, I don't know. Could I do this thing? And we start like with all of our stories. And you guys, like, I've had the privilege of being around so many incredible women that have built big things. We all have stories. It's up to you to find the recurring ones and be like, no, actually, like, look for the evidence when you get into those moments. It's like, actually, I am awesome. Like, look at all the things that I've done. Because I think so many times we just look at the negative stuff and we don't really look at the things we've done. And so if you are listening to this and you're wanting to launch something, like, look at all the things in your life that you've done, you guys. We discount it so much. And it's time that we stop because when we stop and we actually take inventory of what we've done, we get more confident because we see that we actually have overcome things in the past. We have shown up for ourselves in the past, we've gotten amazing results. And if we did it then, we definitely can do it again and we can build whatever it is that we want. And so I want you to hear me on that, you guys. Like, you never know what you can do. And I'm so thankful that I have always been a scrappy girly because that like stripe invoice has now turned into something that I know is number one, extremely necessary for female founders, business owners, and creators, but I know it's gonna grow into something that I'm really excited to see through. And I remember being at this past retreat, and women kept coming up to me saying, like, thank you for seeing your vision through. And I'm like, this is the only only the third one. Like, who knows, you guys? It's evolved so much, and you learn along the way, man. Like, I will do a whole nother podcast on things that I've learned. Like, it is messy. You are building things, like you are not going to know everything that you need until you are in it. And that's what I want to like shake people lovingly with like a hug after. Like, who come to me, they're like, Jordan, I like, I don't know. I don't know. I'm like, you're not going to know. You need to know the next right move, and you need to move, and you need to like see it through. But guess what? When you're in spaces like a line, you're in communities and memberships, you have people that you can come to and say, Hey, I made this next step. What's next? I've come up against this wall. Help me walk through it. I am a huge believer in mentorship, masterminds, going to conferences that are in alignment with what you are creating because they've walked it first and they can help you not really like walk through it in the way that you would if you weren't in those rooms. It makes such a difference, you guys. And so, what I want you to hear from me today is it doesn't have to be perfect and like you think it's gonna go one way. And I laugh because I'm like, if she only knew on the plane, if I could walk up to that old version of me a year ago and hug her and just say, girl, it is gonna be even better than you think. But you gotta go, you gotta start. It's gonna be messy, things aren't gonna happen the way you think. You're gonna have setbacks and challenges, but guess what? It is up to you to continue to see that vision through, continue showing up consistently, and the right people will find you. I promise you. And so I just want to end the podcast and just challenge you to take that next step, you guys, because you never know what can happen. And if you wait until it is perfect, you will be waiting forever. And I love going back to what we started with. I love having conversations with people that are building things. There's nothing that lights me up more. I was just at lunch with my best friend. We've been best friends since we were 12. We met at cheer camp. Kaylee, for listening. I love you so much. And she was talking about how, you know, they are going to be launching something. And I like came alive. I'm like, tell me about it. Let's go. Let's make the strategy, let's make the launch plan. Because it's like, if anybody tells me their dream and what they want to do, even if it's just like a little side thing, I'm like, yes, how can I help you? Like, let's go. Because we live in the most amazing moment in time, you guys. We do. And it's time that you start acting like it and taking those steps and showing up because I think that if the women before us could see the opportunities that we have, I think they would freak out and be so excited. And I just think that it's time that we bring the fun back into building as well. It doesn't have to be so dang serious. Like it is serious what we do. It's really exciting what we do. But also, it's time to have fun. And so I want you to leave this podcast and think about how I can have more fun with what I'm creating and doing. Do I want to show my personality more on social? How could I have fun creating these dang videos that Jordan tells me to do? And like, maybe it's getting out of your house once a week and going and doing content. Maybe it's like changing what you're doing and testing some other things. But it's time to enjoy the build. And that is my theme for being 32. I just turned 32 last week in Scottsdale at the content retreat. It was the best. The ladies were amazing. If you're listening to this, I love you. And it's time, you guys, to enjoy it. Instead of being like, when I get to this level, I will be happy. When I make this amount of money, I will be happy. When I sell this out, I will be happy. Because I will tell you something that I'm sure you've heard before and you roll your eyes at, but it is so true. I have been doing this since I was 19. I told myself in college, I will grind and hustle and skip things. And when I hit a certain rank, I will be happy. When I hit that rank, you guys, it was great. I was like, woo, this is great. But you want to also know what I wish I would go back and tell her. Why don't you enjoy it more? Why don't you be present more? Why don't you celebrate? Because the next thought out of my head, which isn't bad, but also it shows where I was at at that time, was cool, how can I get to the next rank? And some people will hear that and hear ambition, and some people will hear that and say, She probably should have like celebrated a little bit more, you know? And so it's time to celebrate the build and enjoy it. And I'm going to be doing that from now on. Sometimes I might get wrapped up in it, like you probably are listening to this too, and you're like, Yeah, I need to enjoy it too. And I'm all for goals, I'm all for grinding. You might find me here sometimes in my office at 2 a.m. I don't shame that. It's the life of an entrepreneur sometimes, but it's not forever. And when you hit things and you do things and you get to the places you want to go, it's time to celebrate it. But also celebrate the little things when you learn AI, when you learn a new trick, when you learn how to edit, whenever you post a reel that you really love, whenever you try new things, be like, good job self, like showing up, doing the things. Because I think when we start enjoying the build, it becomes more fun. And it honestly becomes more meaningful. So I'll leave you guys with that. I love you guys, and I hope that you take action one thing after this. And remember, even if it's you showing up 10%, it's better than you waiting for it to be perfect because it'll never be the right time. It will never be perfect. It's the time right now. So thanks for hanging out with me. I will see you guys next week. See ya. Thanks for listening to the Jordan Reynolds show, rewrite the rules. New episodes drop every Tuesday, so make sure you're subscribed. And if this episode spoke to you, leave a written review and five stars. It helps this message reach more women about it. Until next time, trust yourself, take the leap, and keep rewriting your own rules.
