The last three years have completely changed my life.
From building a six-figure agency, hosting content retreats, coaching hundreds of women, and saying yes to opportunities I never imagined… I've also realized something really important:
Just because something is successful doesn't mean it's the life you actually want.
In today's solo episode, I'm sharing the behind-the-scenes of the pivot I'm making, what finally gave me clarity, and the three exercises that helped me stop building a business based on what looked good on paper—and start building one that actually fits the life I want.
If you've been feeling stuck, burned out, or like you've simply outgrown this season, this episode is your permission slip to rewrite the rules.
In this episode, we cover:
- Why success doesn't always equal fulfillment
- How to know when it's time to pivot
- The journaling exercise that gave me total clarity
- Building a business around your dream life instead of the other way around
- Why vision is more important than motivation
- The power of taking imperfect action
- How to stop living in reactive mode
- Creating freedom, purpose, and long-term sustainability
Whether you're building a business, starting a health journey, or simply craving a different season of life, I hope this episode reminds you that you're allowed to choose a different path.

Welcome back to Rewrite the Rules. Today you guys have me and I am super excited to dive in today with you. So grab a cute little mocktail, go for a walk, do something fun, and let's just lock in. I'm gonna talk about something I haven't really shared before on the pod, and it's gonna be a good one, you guys. So excited to chat with y'all today. So I can truly say the last three years has been like drinking out of a fire hose, and truly that is like putting it mildly. And I don't know if anybody listening to listening to this has ever grown so fast that you're it's not that you're in reactive mode, but you kind of are. I like think of it like dodgeball when we were young in gym class, and like you could do dodgeball, because I guess the kids of today don't do that. Um, but you're like dodging like these big red balls like being thrown at your face, and you're like, I'm gonna thrive and survive. Like, let's go. And I feel like that has been the last three years. I've had so much fun. I have gotten to cover content for events, content for retreats. I've gotten to host my own content retreats. I've gotten to scale my social media agency to way more than I ever thought possible. And I've gotten to coach, do VIP days, work with people, put out courses, run challenges, coach in incredible programs, and it has been amazing. But I have been given such a gift in this summer, having time to look around and ask myself, like, what have I loved and what do I want to take into the next like season of my business? And it's kind of funny what has come up for me. Um, I have been, like you guys know, I've been an entrepreneur since I was 19. I feel like I am the definition of scrappy. I'm a hustler, um, and I get things done, and I will do what I need to do, whether that's late nights, doing things that I don't really enjoy to get where I want to go. And what's so interesting about this summer, it's like I really got honest with myself about what I wanted. And it's really, really been an interesting situation. I feel like it's been surprising to me what I really decided to do. And it's kind of funny because I'm like, you know, when you stop just being incredibly reactive and you're just trying to get to like a number and you decide to build the thing you really actually want to be building, I feel like so much peace has like come over me over the past three weeks. I feel like since um I got back from I'm like, I've traveled so much this year, I'm like, where was I? Whatever the last trip was that I went on, I got back and I was like, okay, girl, like, you know, Josh is home right now, let's go with let's go to the lake for like a week. And I got my answer when I was up there. And it's just so funny. And so I know that a lot of you guys that listen to this, and you know, whether you are starting a new business, you're starting a health journey, or you're like, I've been living my life a certain way, and I just feel like there's a pivot that needs to happen. And I feel like after talking to so many people, like your 30s is such a place where you look at the things that have been going on and you ask yourself, like, do I really like this? Is this something that I want to continue? Or am I just doing this because it's like familiar and it's what I've always done? And so, like, I'm just like super stoked for going into the fall. I am not really gonna be here the entire three months, like September through November. Your girl is going to like seven different places. Again, last some last fall it was very similar, but I think last fall I was still running my business in the way that I had always done it. I had some systems, but they really weren't where they are now. And I also have a very different goal and vision for what I want to build, and I feel like that is so exciting to me. And so I don't know who's who's listening to this that needs the permission to pivot, but like you can pivot. You can. And I think it's funny because once I really started sitting down when I was at the lake and being like, okay, like what do you love? What do you not love? Like, where is your passion at? What would you do? And what do you just naturally do? And if you guys know me, you know, strategy and coming up with plans, being able to break things down for people. I have such an eye for how I can help you grow. Um, but also I'm really great with creating courses and helping you go through a process yourself. And so I work with a ton of entrepreneurs that really want to run their own marketing. Um, and I work with a ton of coaches that want to do the same. And sometimes you just need like an extra set of eyes on your stuff. And I also work with people that really want to learn how to edit content in a really fun way that makes your videos engaging. Maybe they've never touched TikTok or Instagram before. Like, I'm great at simplifying it. And I feel like whether it's been in my wellness business I've been in since I was 19, I just got a message the other day from a girl who wanted to come on a podcast of mine, and she was like, I just love how simple you make wellness, like your approach. And I'm like, Yeah, like because for so long I did wellness in such a bad way for me, and it wasn't healthy. And I'm like, what is like the simple stuff that's gonna help me be able to like be able to be strong, to be able to have energy, to sleep well, and like I'm a simple girl, that's my goal always, and so I am bringing that into what I'm going into the fall with, and I'm super, super stoked. We're doing some adulting things, we're doing uh a little bit of a trademark sitch that's kind of bougie and fun. Never thought I'd be doing that, but we're doing that, and it's gonna be fire. Like, I'm super excited. I think it's funny whenever you give yourself permission to build what you really want. I have never been more clear and excited, and I think it's funny how God also like once you say yes, he's like, Cool, here's your pathway, here are these connections. Like, I feel like my brain has been opened up to all the ways that this is going to be extremely exciting and it's gonna go really well. And so I don't know where you guys are at right now, but I invite you to sit down today and write down the things that you really want. Not that it makes sense on paper, because trust me, me building my business in the way I had been building it could be really great, really successful, like love that. But it's not what I want moving forward. And a lot of you guys won't even really notice the shift, but I think for me, like everything feels different, and I'm so excited about that shift. So sit down and write down like what do you really want? Like, if you could be successful, which I personally believe that anybody can be successful at what they want to do if they're willing to outwork their competition. And I say that with like so much love. I feel like so many people want the dream, want the vision, want the life, but they're not willing to work for it. If you're willing to outwork the people, you're willing to stay consistent, you're willing to learn, get in rooms, invest in yourself. Like it's gonna take work, but it is so stinking worth it, you guys. Like, write down what you want first, though. Like, how do you want to be living your life? What does working with you look like? What does your business look like? What does your health journey look like? I always say, like, you know, if we have a lot of girlies that listen to this that are in business, but we also have girlies on here that just want to live the life that they really want. So this applies to you too. Like, what does that look like? Because if you don't know and you're just living in reactive mode all the time, it's no wonder that it's been five years and you feel like you haven't gone anywhere and you're frustrated making the same resolutions again and again and again. So, first things first, we're gonna find out what what we really want to do. How are you gonna be feeling during that? And like, what is the end goal in mind? What do you get if you do all of these things? How do you live? How do you feel? Um, what are your thoughts like? How does this person dress? How does this person speak about themselves? Who does this person surround themselves with? I remember I did this exercise a few years ago, and things have changed. Let's just say that. Because of that exercise, I was like, Yeah, your girl's got some things to change, that's for sure. And it's so empowering, and people think that it's woo, people think it's like such a dumb thing to do. But honestly, if you don't have vision for where you're going, you're just like wandering in the wilderness, and I don't like bugs and I don't like dirt, so I don't want to wander there. I want to like get to a little bougie little hotel, I want to get to like cute little cafe. So if you guys are like me, like we gotta get out of the wilderness and we gotta like get on a path that makes sense because we got things to do. So that's the first thing I want to say. And the second thing is I had to do so much work back in 2023. I felt like I had a lot of people telling me what they wanted me to do with my life. And a lot of you guys probably, if you've been around for a minute, you might have seen that massive shift that's happened since then. And in 2022, I made a really big decision to step away from something that most people, if they found out what I'd stepped away from, they would be like, you are an absolute crazy person for saying no to that. And I think it's just funny what's shifted in the past like three years since then. It's been such an amazing ride and such a great blessing. But what I want to tell you is that like you don't have to live your life the way other people think, whether it's you having a kiddo, you living a certain place, you continuing to stay in a business or something of the sort, living your life a certain way. Like this show is called Rewrite the Rules for a Reason. And so here's your like permission slip of me saying it to you. Like, go figure out what you want, first of all, and then second of all, like decide that like you are going to work on your mindset around like the reason that you stayed for so long or the reason that you didn't let yourself go for it. Because for me, I told myself for so many years, like I can't journal, I can't journal, it's too much, it doesn't make sense to me, like blah blah blah. I had issues from it in the in the past, and I just like chose to continue to let that like keep me from what I need to do. And when I started journaling, on okay, Jordan, why did you stay for so long in something that you knew was not right for you? Okay, like why did you like continuously like go back and forth whenever you knew in your heart that like this was not it? You didn't want to live your life this way, you wanted like something else in your life. So I really had to like come to terms with like okay, like where am I at? And you know, the reasons that I kept myself in a certain place. And it was really eye-opening to me. And it's not that like where I was was bad. Don't get me wrong. Like, people who like might have seen me in that position, they were like, whoa, like this is amazing. Like, why would she leave this? And honestly, it just has to be a simple thing for yourself is like if you feel the same way about your situation, like I just wanted different for my life. I wanted freedom, I wanted time freedom, I wanted the ability to say yes or no. I wanted to build something that was mine. Like, these are the things that I didn't really come up with until I started journaling. And so that's like the second piece of it that I wanted to do. And then the third thing, what I want to tell you is, you know, everything lives in your head and you're gonna go crazy unless you start taking action. Ask me how I know. I didn't actually go crazy, but like it's like you're kind of at war with yourself a little bit, especially if you know in your heart that you want something different in this season. And it doesn't mean that what you had was bad or that it was less than. It just means it's like a it's a part of like what got you where you are now. But like where you want to go, it matters too. And so it's just like shifting, but you're not gonna be able to ever experience like the amazingness that you could if you don't take action. I coach so many women and they're like, Well, it's just not the right time, or it's just so much, or life is just blah blah blah. It's like, dude, we all have it, we all have stuff. We just might not post it on the internet. If we're really honest, and I think it's just saying, Okay, I have this stuff, cool, what can I do anyway? And it doesn't have to be this big thing, it's not like the hours of work, it's not like the big things that make you, you know, get where you want to go. It's the simple stuff. And so I love to ask people if you had 10 minutes a day, like what could you do? If you have 25 minutes a day for this, what would you do? Like, I know we scroll for way longer because I've seen a lot of y'all screen times, like, no judgment. I get it. I have to say that to myself. I'm like, girl, check your screen time first before you say anything about your excuses. Like, we found the time, it's in your phone, and it's probably scrolling Instagram on memes or dog videos. So, no shame. But you know, we have time, it's just deciding like that it's it's important so that you do show up and you do the work. But what is one thing that you know, like, and it could be the scary thing, it could be the easy thing that you just need to start doing. And it could be a daily thing, it could be a weekly thing, but what is gonna get you off your booty so that you really start seeing results? It might be getting up earlier, it might be working out every day, it might be eating better. Um, it might be starting the day with a plan instead of flying by the seat of your pants. It might be leaving the house 20 minutes earlier for work so that you're not like rushing through traffic and you walk in like a hot mess express all the time. It might be getting up and actually getting ready if you're a stay-at-home mom. Like whatever your thing is that you know is really gonna help you show up the best way you know how and also feel really confident to take those steps, do that thing. And so I want you to share that with somebody in your life. If you don't have that, send it to me on IG. It's at Jordan Reynolds Co. That's me. Would love to hear it from you. Um, I know for me, the thing I've shifted over the last year or two has been I get up and I get ready. Like I curl my hair. It's a little humid today in Oklahoma, so it's a little bit cray cray, but I did curl it and I put makeup on, I got ready, and I look really cute today. If you watch me on YouTube, then you see my outfit. I look like a kind of gothic little Barbie. It's kind of fun. I've got like necklaces on, I've got my earrings on, I've got my ring on. Like I wanted to do this podcast today, and I had another recording, and I was like, if I don't show up the way that I know I need to, like it affects everything. And it also affects how you respond to clients, what kind of content you put out there, what kind of content you write, the thoughts you have about your life and what you can do. And I think putting yourself together as a woman in whatever way you want, you guys know me. I'm not like a makeup girly pop. Like, I don't know my way around foundation. I don't even know where to put things for eyeshadow, like I just do my best. Sometimes I forget to blend it, and my husband lovingly tells me. So, like, I'm not saying show up as a Barbie, but I'm saying like put yourself together so you feel good. And it makes a huge, huge shift. So for me, the past three years have been absolutely amazing. I think back to making that really scary decision to walk away from something and go into a mastermind and just like I think back to like, oh my gosh, that little girl had no idea what she was doing. I was like 28 and no idea that within three years she would host four content retreats, two in Oklahoma, two outside of Oklahoma. Our next one's coming up in California in September. We have literally two spots left. And like I am so excited because I know that I am pumped with the spaces I'm creating for women, uh, whether they're coaches, business owners, like I want to create continue to create these spaces that women feel comfortable coming and saying the things that they need help with with content and social media, creating content that they love and having a good time because it can be fun. But like she would never have known that. Like looking back at 2023, me, it's like, oh my gosh. So, like, that's happened. The agency has scaled, you know, to six figures within the first year. That's wild. We've worked with so many people in different industries. I've launched courses, I've launched challenges, I've coached in organizations, I've spoken on stages on panels, I've ran my own workshop, like I launched a podcast. Like, I just think about all those things because of a decision. And I want to give you that permission slip to do whatever you want to do. It doesn't matter if it looks right to people, it matters if it feels right to you. Um, I think back to like family and friends, and they're like, Are you sure? If you're an entrepreneur and you haven't got that from your friends and family yet, it's coming. The are you sure look or the are you sure talking to, they're like, Are you are you sure you don't just want to like go get like a job? Or like you sure you don't want to just like do something different or like go back to school? It's like no, like give yourself a good chance, do the thing, and if you're thinking about it, it's meant for you. Like I said, like I am not above a late night work sesh putting in the hours, we'll be a little scrappy. Like, that's what it takes to grow for sure. But what I know is like, you know, a lot of people say they want it, but we said it early in the episode, they're not willing to work for it. And if you're listening to this, I know that you're a worker, I know that you have vision, and I know you really want to build something that is not just like impactful for others, but also for yourself. And I invite you to also ask yourself, what do I want to be able to do when this business or this health journey like gives me what I want? Do I want to be able to do like certain things whenever I travel? Do I want to be able to say yes to certain experiences? Do I want to be able to do a pull-up? Do I want to be able to do, you know, a mile run or a 5K? Like, ask yourself those questions too, because it's so important to have like a big vision, but also vision for like what happens in like six months, three months, nine months. Just so you have those little like things you come up against and you're like, okay, cool, I'm working for a reason. And it matters. It matters. I think vision casting is huge. But I wanted to make this podcast today. It's been on my heart for a minute because the past three years have been amazing. And I think that there's just some things that like I look back on that really were pivotal for me, and I wanted to share them with you guys. The next three years, I see so much for my business, and it's gonna take a lot of me being comfortable being seen, and also me being really comfortable, like putting myself out there in a lot of different ways. And I'm really pumped because ultimately what I know what I'm building is just amazing tools for business owners to absolutely crush it, whatever they want to do, because I believe that we need more incredible women and business owners making the impact and income that they want, because ultimately it just like changes people's lives, and that's really what I'm about. And so, whether you've ever worked with me in wellness, you know that, or in social, you know that too. My heart is really to help other people, and that's the same thing with this podcast. So I am loving that we're kicking season two off with amazing episodes with guests over 15 plus incredible women. Make sure you guys connect with them. And I loved talking today, so make sure you go journal, make sure that you decide what action you're gonna take and ask yourself what's been going well and what you really want to shift going into this next season. Fall is such a great time to do that, and I always say that you never know how quick your life can change because it can. It's just one room. It could be one room, it could be one podcast, it could be one action, it could be one piece of content, it could be a gym class that you go to and you meet your best friend that changes your life. Like you don't know, but your goal is to keep putting yourself out there and it's gonna happen. So thanks for listening today, guys. If you like this episode, please, please, please go leave a review on Apple Podcasts, give it five stars. It helps the pod just be able to reach the people that it's meant to. And I will see you guys next time. Make sure that we're friends on IG. My IG is Jordan Reynolds Co. and would love for you to share what you like about this episode today. So I'll see you guys next time. Bye.
