Today was a demanding day in every sense of the word. I treated 10 horses at a Northland event yard, starting with the competition team and moving into follow-ups in the afternoon. These days are physically intense, but the results speak for themselves: stronger toplines, better movement, and real progress from the work being put in over winter.
But today wasn’t just about the horses. On a personal level, I wasn’t feeling great physically, and I also received news that hit hard, one of my friends has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Every one of my best friends has now faced that fight, and while they’ve all made it through, the reality of it weighed on me today. Add to that being on a yard still grieving the loss of their top horse, and the absence was heavy.
This episode is about showing up and doing the work, even when the world around you feels heavy.
