In this sleepytime story, we meet Baxter the Badger who is a bright, kind, and oh-so-helpful little legend who’s known for being “such a good listener” and “so easy.” But what no one sees is the jumble of feelings Baxter hides under her polite smile and quiet voice.

By day, she mirrors her classmates, laughs at jokes she doesn’t find funny, and tries her hardest to fit in. But by the time she gets home, the mask crashes down—and her family is left wondering why she’s so different at school than she is at home.

With the help of Ollie the Otter (who totally gets it!), Baxter learns about masking, safe spaces, and the power of showing her true colours. Together, they create a secret code for emotional safety. Green, Orange, Red and explore how to ask for what she needs without pretending.

This one’s for all the sensitive souls who’ve used up every drop of energy being “good” all day.
You are not alone. You are not too much.
And mistakes? Oh, they’re just part of the magic.

Hi, I’m Steph — a mum to a sensitive little guy and an integrative therapist who works with kids to regulate their nervous systems (as well as adults!). I know how important it is that every child feels safe, seen, and loved just as they are. I created Steph and the Sleepytime Crew to help kids wind down with stories that spark giggles, build confidence, and support emotional and social wellbeing — one bedtime at a time.

Thanks for listening and letting me and the Sleepytime Crew be part of your family’s night-time routine!

Thanks so much for joining use for another adventure with Steph and the Storytime Crew.

I'm Steph, an Integrative Therapist based in Perth, Australia, and I specialise in helping sensitive kids understand their big feelings, regulate their nervous systems and discover just how incredible they truly are.

These stories were born from my own journey as a mum. My son needed a fun, gentle way to understand emotions, friendships, confidence, anxiety, resilience, and all the wonderfully messy parts of growing up. So I started creating stories that could spark conversations, build emotional literacy, and help children feel seen, safe and understood.

If these stories have become a special part of your family's bedtime or your child would benefit from some extra support, I'd love to help. I work with children and families both in person and remotely around the globe through nervous system reset sessions and holistic wellbeing support.

You can find out more, book a session, or explore my other resources at whitespacewellbeing.com.au, or come and say hello on Instagram @whitespace_wellbeing_perth.

Until next time, keep being kind, keep being curious, and always remember... you matter, you belong and you are wonderful exactly as you are.
