12 seconds. Just 12 seconds of an innocent looking video. A couple laughing on a bridge, a girl holding two juice bottles, and a boy teasingly recording her. But inside that smile was murder. This is not a love story. This is the story of how trust was poisoned sip by sip, smile by smile. Welcome to Welted Marigold. I'm your storyteller Ambika and tonight's story is one of the most disturbing, premeditated, cold-blooded murders India has ever seen. A case that the court itself called the rarest of rare. This is the murder of Sharon Raj by the girl he loved the most. One is sealed and one is not. Sharon jokes about the challenge Grishma brought him for. Grishma laughs, telling him to stop recording. But what the camera captures in these 12 seconds is fear in her forehead, a fake smile on her lips, and hatred in her eyes. Later, behavioral experts noted she kept the poison bottle slightly closer to Sharon. Her own sealed bottle took her two tries to open because she wanted it to look natural. Small actions, big clues. And Sharon, blinded by love, never even noticed that. To understand the cruelty of this crime, we need to go back 10 months earlier, October 2021. Sharon, only 23 years old, sees a girl sitting on a bus seat and instantly feels something stop inside him. It's love at first sight. Like a Bollywood story, he ends up sitting beside her. The girl is Grishma. Beautiful, soft-spoken, and only one year younger to him. They talk, they laugh, numbers are exchanged, and a romance blossoms between them. But what Sharon saw as destiny, as happily ever after, Grishma saw as pastime. Four months later, February 2022, everything changes. Sharon deeply in love has no idea that Grishma's family has fixed her marriage with an army man from Naga Coil. A better option in her head. A settled future. A status upgrade from Sharon. When Sharon learns about her engagement on March 4th, his world completely collapses. He breaks up with her. But Grishma reels him right back in. She promises she will elope with him in November. She promises she will only marry him. She promises him love. And Sharon, he believes her. As the wedding date gets closer, Grishma panics. She knows Sharon will never leave her. So she creates a lie so huge that it almost works. She tells him she has jatak dosh, a horoscope defect, meaning her first husband will die. She expects Sharon to run away in fear. But Sharon laughs it off, calls it superstition, and says, Oh come on, if that's true, let's get married right away. Grishma is trapped in her own lie. And so Sharon and Grishma marry secretly at Vetukod Church in Kerala. Then they check into hotels on August 13th and 18th, living like a married couple would. To Sharon, this is love. To Grishma, this is a problem. A problem she's been sucked into. And so she decides to solve this problem permanently. But here's a critical detail. She begins planning. Not one attempt, but not two. Attempted murders before the final one works. She first tries poisoning his tea, then mixing medicines into his food, searching for slow, painless, undetectable poisons, starting his daily routine to find moments he was alone. All of this, months before he even knew something was wrong. And then the juice challenge attempt to poison him with juice. We return to the bridge, the juice challenge. One bottle contains 50 crushed paracetomol tablets. 50. She believes the bitterness will be hidden in the sweet mango flavor. But Sharon takes one sip and spits it out immediately. He says it tastes weird. That one reflex saved him. But only for now. Krishma panics, throws both bottles away, laughs it off. Plan failed. But her intention does not change. 13th October 2022. This flirting, sexual chats promises manipulation. She tells Sharon she'll be alone tomorrow. She invites him over. She charms him. She traps him. All this was deliberate, as confirmed by recovered WhatsApp chats. She used affection as a bait and intimacy as a weapon. Sharon walks straight into his death. 14th October 2022, 10 15 a.m. Sharon arrives at her house. The gate is already open. Inside, she talks casually, laughs, jokes, and then challenges him again. You always make fun of my kashiam. Why don't you try it today? Sharon agrees. Okay, one cup, one sip. And then the biggest mistake. He drinks the kashiyam fully. She gives him fruity to wash down the bitter taste. And within minutes, poison is inside his bloodstream. The kashiam wasn't just mixed with herbicide, it also had crushed medicines from Gai 3 Hospital. And the herbicide was one of the deadliest kinds banned in Kerala. And worst of all, poison resembles kashium in color and consistency. He never had a chance. Sharon vomits inside her house. He staggers outside and vomits on the road. His friend Rajan rushes him home. Green vomit, slowed speech, dizziness, organ failure beginning. And what does Grishma do? She sends him messages pretending to care, pretending to worry, pretending to love him. But every single message is meant to delay treatment. Because if treatment started early, the poison could have been detected. But if delayed, the poison disappears from the body. And she knows this. She has this information. Police later found she Googled herbicide poisoning detection time earlier that week itself. She studied how long she needed to delay him. In the next 72 hours, Sharon has moved between multiple hospitals. His organs fail one by one. He can't speak, he can't swallow water. He survives on ivy fluids. His lungs stiffen, his kidneys stop filtering, his oxygen levels drop. And still he protects Krishna. Even in his dying declaration, he refuses to name her. That's how deep his love was. That's how deadly her betrayal was. 25th October 2022. After 11 days of agony, Sharon dies from multiple organ failure. His father said after seeing him in the ICU, Sharon knew he wouldn't survive. But the truth isn't buried with him. Shimon, Sharon's brother, refuses to let the case die. The police dig into WhatsApp chats, call logs, deleted messages, search history, CCTV footage, medical reports, browser autophil entries, screenshot timestamps, GPS pings, and what they find is horrifying. On 22nd August alone, the day of the juice challenge, Grishma searched 23 times on how to kill someone using paracetamol. She researched the herbicide stored in her house. She knew it could destroy kidneys and lungs in hours. She knew it becomes undetectable within 24 hours. And she knew exactly how to delay the treatment. And then the police also recovered deleted chrome entries and WhatsApp messages by using cyber forensics tools. Her attempts to erase her tracks actually posed her. And so the cover-up begins. Grishma's uncle hides the poison bottle in a plantation. Later he moves it to a pineapple plant. Eventually, he ends up confessing. Her mother encourages the horoscope lie, and she herself sends fake photos, fake stories, even fakes a suicide attempt. She pretends to drink toilet cleaner inside the police station, forcing officers to take her to a hospital, buying her precious time to create a new story. The evidence is overwhelming. Once caught Grishma tells the police that Sharon drank the poison voluntarily. She tells, quote, Sharon abused her. She claims he blackmailed her. She even shows her engagement album to the police, trying to frame a story that Sharon got jealous and hurt himself. But every chat, every record, every timestamp proves one thing. Grishma is a liar. Psychological evaluation by experts suggests that she is mentally, in fact, sound. She chooses to be manipulative and has no remorse. She's emotionally cold and indeed capable of repeated harm. After hearing 95 witnesses and analyzing 323 documents, the court declares the murder a rarest of rare case. Grishma killed Sharon inch by inch, emotion by emotion. She manipulated him physically, emotionally, psychologically until the moment he died. On 20th January 2025, the court sentences her to death under section 302. Justice finally. You know, this case is not just about murder. It is about trust, blind trust. Sometimes the most dangerous person is the one holding your hand. People wear masks, smile hiding intentions, and manipulation hides behind love. Fake love. This marks the end of this episode. Until the next episode, stay kind, stay safe.
