Welcome to Firearms Reform, a new official WA Police Force podcast. I'm Claire Ciantar and I'm joined by Commander Lawrence Panaia. Thanks for joining us.
Lawrence:Thank you, Claire.
Claire:Now tell us a little bit about your background and you're the resident expert on firearms.
Lawrence:Well I am for now. I've been a police officer for over forty years and in the last six or seven years I've had licensing enforcement division which oversees the firearms branch and of course this reform has been going for about the last three years.
Claire:And this podcast, this new project that we're undertaking, tell us a little bit about I guess its aim.
Lawrence:Yeah, well, obviously with a brand new act, Firearms Act 2024, the last one was 1973, so there's a 50-year catch-up to be had and there's a lot of information that needs to get out there and I wanted to talk about a number of different topics that I thought would assist firearm licence holders.
Claire:Fantastic. So stay tuned for this limited series podcast, an official WA Police Force podcast called Firearms Reform.
