Prayer Prompt / Psalm 139 Identity

Psalm 139.

O Lord, You have searched me and known me.

You know when I sit down and when I rise up.

You discern my thoughts from afar.

You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all of my ways.

Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, You know it altogether.

You hem me in behind and before and lay Your hand upon me.

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me.

It is high.

I cannot attain it.

Where shall I go from Your Spirit or where shall I flee from Your presence?

If I ascend to heaven, You are there.

If I make my bed and shield, You are there.

If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me and Your right hand shall hold me.

If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me and the light about me be night, even the darkness is not dark to You.

The night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with You.

For You formed my inward parts.

You knitted me together in my mother's womb.

I praise You for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

Wonderful are Your works.

My soul knows it very well.

My frame was not hidden from You when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth.

Your eyes saw my unformed substance.

In Your book were written every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.

How precious to me are Your thoughts, O God.

How vast is the sum of them.

If I would count them, they are more than the sand.

I awake and I am still with You.

O that You would slay the wicked, O God.

O men of blood, depart from me.

They speak against You with malicious intent.

Your enemies take Your name in vain.

Do I not hate those who hate You, O Lord?

And do I not loathe those who rise up against You?

I hate them with complete hatred.

I count them my enemies.

Search me, O God, and know my heart.

Try me and know my thoughts.

And see if there be any grievous way in me.

And lead me in the way everlasting.

Father, Son, Holy Spirit, we receive Your word from the choir master.

This Psalm of David is of You.

Your word remains forever and does not return void.

Holy Spirit, lead us and guide us to explore this word in prayer, in Your presence, and in Your power.

Father, You are the King of kings and Lord of lords.

You are the great I am.

This knowledge is too high for us.

We cannot attain it, and yet You come near.

So Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we come before You to lay down our own identities and to receive the identity that You have for us.

Verse 13, for, Lord, You formed my inner parts.

You knitted me together in my mother's womb.

Father, through the power of the Holy Spirit, I ask You to open my ears, my eyes, my heart, and my mind to nudge my spirit, to speak to me, to reveal pictures, visions, dreams.

Father, Son, Holy Spirit, when You knit me together in my mother's womb, what did You place in my spiritual DNA?

Friends, what comes to mind?

Are you resisting what you're sensing?

Are you receiving it?

Are you willing to trust the Holy Spirit leading you?

Someone will ask, Holy Spirit, lead us.

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, what did You place in my spiritual DNA?

Jesus, what do You say about me?

In order to fully receive the truth, we must also acknowledge and recognize the lies that we believed.

Jesus, things have happened in our lives.

People have spoken things.

We've thought things.

We've received things that are not true about ourselves.

And yet we've believed them to be true because they've been so present.

By the power of the Holy Spirit, Lord, give us discernment now.

In Jesus' name, I declare a separation from any lies of self, of others, or of my adversary.

I strictly forbid all forms of evil from coming against this time of receiving.

So in the name of Jesus, we command all fear, all lies, all shame, all guilt, all anger, all pride, and any form of brokenness to leave right now.

We acknowledge the fullness of the blood of Jesus that covers us.

We believe that Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are three in one.

And we believe that Jesus' life, death, and resurrection on the cross of Calvary accomplished for us the once and for all time atonement and is the power of the Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead that is now at work in me.

Verse seven, where shall I go from your spirit?

Where shall I flee from your presence?

Jesus, we thank you that you are everywhere.

Jesus, what is the root of my struggle with my own identity?

What is the root of the pain of the lie?

Does a memory come to you?

How old were you?

When did you first believe this lie about yourself?

Jesus, why?

Why are we believing these lies?

Is it unforgiveness?

Is it doubt?

Is it fear of letting go?

Jesus, illuminate the truth.

Jesus, what truth do you want to reveal right now?

Friends, are you willing to receive this truth of Christ?

Are you willing to believe what He says about you?

If yes, receive this blessing.

Friends I bless you in the name of Jesus to receive the truth by the power of the Holy Spirit.

I bless your body, your mind, your spirit, and your soul to release all form of evil, memories, lies, incidents, traumas, anything related to this wound we cover in the blood of Jesus.

And we now strictly forbid any form of evil to come against these wounds and we are set free.

We are set free.

So now I bless your body, mind, spirit, and soul to receive the fullness of His grace.

The spirit cover my friends from the top of their head to the bottom of their feet.

Cleanse them.

Renew them.

Recreate them from the inside out.

Verse 23, search me, O God, and know my heart.

Try me and know my thoughts.

See if there be any grievous way within me and lead me in the way everlasting.

Father, Son, Holy Spirit, reveal to us now.

By your grace, by your mercy, by your power, we want to receive the truth.

So Jesus, take us back to the forming of our inward parts.

Verse five, you hem me in behind and before and lay your hand upon me.

Father, your hand is upon us.

As you knitted us together in the womb, Father, Son, Holy Spirit, what truth do you want to bring now?

What spiritual DNA?

What characteristics?

What identity?

What's my true identity in you, Lord?

Take a moment to receive.

Write down what you're hearing.

Take your time.

Receive.

Lord, we acknowledge that the brokenness of our past, the mistakes we've made, the things that we've done can often linger.

So we say thank you.

For verse 11, if I say surely the darkness shall cover me and the light about me be night, even the darkness is not dark to you.

The night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you.

Father, we ask for your light now to shine upon the dark places and reveal the truth.

Brothers and sisters, there's nothing that you've ever done or could ever do that will separate you from the love of Jesus Christ.

If any part of you believes that part of your path or your history is keeping you from receiving today, I bless you to receive the truth.

By his stripes, you are healed.

I declare what is true.

Brothers and sisters, receive the anointing of the spirit that reveals all truth to your body, your mind, your spirit, and your soul.

So I bless you.

Jesus, who do you say that I am?

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, I declare that you have received from the Father, from the Son, through the power of the Spirit.

We've been led by the word that leads and guides us.

We've been present with one another, though distance may come between us.

But we receive together now the fullness of his grace.

And if you've received today, I encourage you in your own way to receive and to declare in your own words to him your thankfulness for his renewal.

As we come to the closing of our time of prayer together, I want to bless you and encourage you that you can do this exercise more than once.

Often our identity is covered by layers and layers of life.

So I bless you in what's been done today.

I encourage you this is just the next step of your journey.

We bless you for deeper intimacy with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

So receive this closing blessing prayer.

Father, today we are thankful for your word that leads and guides us.

We're thankful for the power of the Holy Spirit that moves in us and through us.

That is the revealer of all truth.

We thank you for the presence of Christ.

We thank you for the life you've given us.

And we're thankful that you are who you say you are.

So today we receive the truth that we are sons and daughters of the Most High King.

That our inheritance is in the heavenly places.

That you live and dwell in and among us and through us.

And that in you we have abundant life.

The old is gone and the new has come.

And today we celebrate with thankfulness the renewal that is available in your presence.

We pray all these things in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
