This episode is a prayer prompt leading the listener through a prayer journey. It is related to family triggers and how to release them to the Holy Spirit.
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we come before you today to seek your guidance, your wisdom, your love, your mercy, and your grace.
Lord today we seek your mercy and wisdom around family triggers.
Father we acknowledge that our families can be both a blessing and a difficult situation.
And as we come before you today we seek your grace and your wisdom and your understanding about how to release the pain that we've experienced in family.
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we know that your word teaches us that a man and a woman shall leave their families and come together to form a new family.
We also acknowledge, Lord, that love is patient and love is kind.
It does not envy.
It does not boast.
It is not proud.
It does not dishonor others.
It is not self-seeking.
It is not easily angered.
It keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices in the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres.
Father we confess that in our families we don't know how to love this way.
We also confess that we have not been loved this way.
Holy Spirit, would you bring to mind now a root memory, something that frequently causes distress or trauma when thought about, specifically related to family?
What emotions come to mind?
What do you feel in your body?
Jesus, we always acknowledge that you are present in all things.
We also acknowledge that we do not always see you, sense you, or are aware of your presence in all things.
So Holy Spirit, as you've revealed this core trigger, this core memory.
First friends, I bless your eyes to see, your ears to hear, your hearts to be opened, and your mind to be clear, to receive.
I bless your body to relax.
We declare protection and peace in the spiritual things around you.
So Holy Spirit, as you bring my friend back to this triggering occurrence, this memory, friends, where do you see Jesus?
Where do you sense Him?
Be patient.
We strictly forbid any false Jesus, any accusation, any fear or shame or guilt from getting in the way.
So we ask again, Holy Spirit, cleanse and bless us.
Holy Spirit, where was Jesus in this memory, in this moment?
Jesus, we confess that we don't often see things as they really are, and we do not remember things clearly as they really were.
So Jesus, would you show us the truth?
What was the truth about this core memory?
Jesus, would you help us see?
Jesus, has there been a lie that we've believed because of this memory?
Jesus, what lie have we been believing?
Friends, do you want to continue believing this lie?
If the answer is no, I invite you to speak it out loud.
Jesus, I no longer want to believe this lie.
Now receive His grace.
When we confess our sins, He is faithful and just, and removes our sins from us as far as the East is from the West.
You are forgiven.
Now Jesus, we acknowledge that there were others present in this triggering moment, this memory.
As a Holy Spirit, we ask now that you bring them to the forefront of our mind, those that were present during this triggering memory.
Jesus, who was there?
And friends, as you engage this memory, I ask the Holy Spirit to lead you now.
Holy Spirit, would you lead my friends into a true understanding?
Jesus, what was really going on with them when they were there?
Jesus what truth do you want to reveal to us about this broken moment and how it relates to the others?
As you remove the lies and receive the truth, are you willing or able to forgive?
In your own way, speak with Jesus now.
Who do you need to forgive?
Friend, I bless you now in the name of Jesus to receive cleansing and healing for the forgiveness that you've received and the forgiveness that you've given.
I bless you to stand firm that the forgiveness that you have participated in is real.
And Jesus, while we acknowledge that those others may not be present with us, we acknowledge that we've done our part.
Father, Son, Holy Spirit, we ask for reconciliation.
We ask for healing.
We ask for renewal in this family.
We ask for healing from these triggers.
Jesus, we must acknowledge that no one can be forced into reconciliation.
No one can be forced into forgiveness.
And we acknowledge that some relationships may not be repaired.
So Holy Spirit, for the places that we have attempted in the past to find a way forward, for the ways that we have attempted to be heard, for the ways that we've attempted to bring new life to family and have not been successful.
Jesus we need to grieve.
Jesus would you help us see by the power of the Holy Spirit, what part of my mind or my body, my spirit or my soul is still holding this pain?
The pain of regret, the pain that family may not be what we want it to be, the pain of being misunderstood, the pain of accusation and judgment, the pain of not being received or acknowledged and for the pain of being rejected, abandoned and forced out.
Friends let the pain come to you now.
You may have resisted it in the past, but I encourage you to hold it with Jesus.
So Jesus now, Jesus where are you with them as you hold this pain?
And Jesus you revealed truth, what truth now do you want to reveal to my friends about this pain?
And now Jesus, what do you want to do with this pain?
Jesus we thank you for being present with us, that your protection doesn't always keep us from pain, but you are with us in it.
And so as we acknowledge these triggers and as we've received your grace from this wound, Holy Spirit heal us now and we declare that any form of evil, any lie of the pit, any place in us has had agreement with this pain or agreement with the lies of the enemy.
We lay them down and we say we want to agree with Jesus.
And so in the name of Jesus, I declare you free, free from the past lies, the past triggers.
And I bless you to be healed to the measure of his grace.
So come Holy Spirit now and seal and heal the body, the mind, the spirit and the soul where truth has been revealed seal it where wounds have been exposed.
We ask for your healing power, your miraculous grace, your mercy and your love.
And by the power of the Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead, we declare and we receive that we are healed.
And we acknowledge that in God's grace and mercy that we are progressively healed over time.
So friends, I bless you to attune your hearts and your minds to these triggers.
And as you face family, you come into moments where you are then with the people that participated in that pain.
I bless you with a new mindset.
You may declare these things over yourselves as well.
I am a new creation in Christ.
The old is gone and the new has come.
I declare that I am a son or daughter of the most high King, that I have access to the riches of his heavenly throne.
I am a follower of Jesus Christ and his blood covers me.
I am led by the spirit and I will speak and act and live as one who is led by the spirit.
And friends, now I would encourage you to consider taking communion.
Find the verses that describe the breaking of the bread and the pouring out of the wine.
And as Jesus said, do this in remembrance of me.
Remember his sacrifice, his death and his resurrection that lives in you.
So Father close out our time with the fullness of your presence, me.
We walk with you all the days of our life healed more and more day by day, moment by moment.
We give you all the honor, all the glory and all of the praise.
And we pray this all now in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
