Hi, and welcome to Trivia Buzz, the trivia quiz game that serves up trivia with a twist.
I'm Laura. And I'm Nancy. And we both love trivia in all forms, but we especially love it paired with a classic cocktail. So we decided to put the two things together and invite you all in to share them with us. The game consists of five rounds of 10 trivia questions that get progressively tougher as the rounds go on. You're not going to hear this on Friday the 13th, but we are recording on Friday the 13th. And that's a very auspicious state. That's right. I love Friday the 13th because I love scary movies. Oh my god, you and me both girl. Yes, Laura and I do share that passion. We love gonna see scary movies and not with our husbands'cause they can't handle it. no, they don't like it. Not at all. Very, very scared of them. Mine will tolerate. Chris will tolerate a scary movie, but he doesn't like Love it. Oh, Jason will curl up into a ball and sob. Or Jason, you're just out him. I know. Sorry. Yeah, so the last great scary movie that Nancy and I watched was Sinner. Oh my God. Great movie. That was so good because it's more than a. A horror film. That was almost the side story. Yeah. Yeah. It's a metaphor for so much more. It's so much more folk history. Folk music. Music. Yep. The South, oh God. The black experience in America. It was amazing. It's very cool. Very, very cool. We also saw, nose ATU together that. Was one of the best. That was great. Scary movies I think I've ever seen. That was amazing. the new atu, the one with Lily Depp and Right. Can't remember the guy name. Oh, my God. Oh, from about a boy. What's his name? Oh my God. Why can't I remember his name? Yeah, it was great. anyway, great movie. Yeah. so yeah, scary movies. You know, I've created a version of that, that this is your version. We're doing French 75 Nancy's version. Yes. We're Oh, I'm so excited. And do you have any idea why we're doing the French 75? I have an inkling of an idea. Yeah. Is it, what do you think it is? Is it. Because I went to French culinary school. Yes it is. Okay. Nancy listeners, Nancy is quite the cook. She is a chef extraordinaire, and, she's been kind enough to pass on recipes to me, and they're good. Believe me. Yay. Okay, so yes, the French 75. do you know anything about this drink? It's got cool history. I do not. Please fill me in so it. Goes back to World War I and I think it's 19 15, 16. and it was created at the, New York Bar in Paris, by the bartender Harry Macone. And, Which is a great bar, by the way. Ben, have you been there? Yes. Very fun. Oh, nice. and, it, it's said to have such a kick that it feels like being shelled from a powerful French 75 millimeter feel gun. Oh my, wow. that's quite a claim out of Dark Times. Came a wonderful cocktail. It is really good. What is in it? okay, the classic is an ounce of gin. Half ounce of lemon juice, fresh lemon juice, and a half ounce of simple syrup, which I switch out to a half ounce of luxado. Hmm. And then you mix all that in a shaker with ice. pour that, into coop glasses, preferably. And then you top it with three ounces of champagne or Prosecco, whatever you have. And then you can garnish it with a lemon twist. That sounds delicious, and I know it is delicious. Yes. because I have one right here. Yay. Okay. Cheers. Cheers. Oh my God, that's so good. I love that. Love it. Yes. I think we really love the lemony flavor profile, don't we? Absolutely. And I know you like the almond hints of the Luxado. Yes. I love the cherry hints of the Luxar. I actually, I love cherry and almond, so I love them both. The two great tastes that go great together. Oh, so good alright, well that segues perfectly into our next section. Oh gosh. Okay. Following her passion for cooking, Nancy moved to Australia to attend culinary school. That's true. She lived there for what, five or six years? Six years. Although Jason will always say a better part of a decade. Okay. that's true. Yeah. and her twin boys were born there. They were, yes. Yeah. Nancy and I both have twin boys, same age, and they are very good friends, so that's so much fun. And the funny thing is when I moved to Stowe, I met, a woman, Genevieve. Jen. Who's Jen? Yeah. Whose son? George. Also born in the same hospital as my boys in Sydney. So that is so random. How far apart in time? they weren't there at the same time were they? Any who? yeah, so went to culinary school and then just decided to stay. To stay'cause it was so beautiful. Mm-hmm. I, when you grate, and so what I usually do is I'll chop, just hash through it and add salt to the board and that helps dissolve the. the garlic and it gets that pasty. Oh, okay.
