So we decided to put the two things together and invite you all in to share them with us. The game consists of five rounds of 10 trivia questions that get progressively tougher as the rounds go on. If you'd like, you can play along using the scoring sheet on our website, trivia buzz pod.com. Welcome to season two of Trivia Buzz. We are so happy to be back in the swing of serving up cocktails and trivia. It's so good to be back. It's been a, it's been quite a break here. Yeah, it's been a while. It's been about a, it's been over a month since we've recorded and so, I'm. I'm so happy to be back behind the mic. I tell you I've missed it. Yeah, me too. And but before we get any further Yes, Laura, we have some business to take care of here. Let's do it. I have got a little fact check correction Oh no. From our last episode. Something I did, Nope. Mm-hmm. Nope. It was me. It was you few. Yep. It was the season ender of, season one, and I made it boo boo and misspoke. Okay. The question was, I didn't notice, by the way. Well, I did because the emails came pour in hate mail. The trolls. Yeah. The question was featuring rum, Marino, liqueur, fresh grapefruit and rosemary simple syrup. This cocktail is named for an famous American author, and because we were drinking margaritas at the time, remember that? Oh, yeah. Yeah. That was really fun and festive. I mistaken. The Bacons Margaritas. Yes. I mistakenly said the Hemingway margarita and. Obviously, because this has rum in it. It's the Hemingway Daiquiri. Okay. I did think there were both, aren't there both? There are both. Okay. Yeah. So we just, just a misty, a little slip of the tongue. Yeah. So thanks to all the listeners who, reached out and duly noted and score yourself two points. Good catch everyone. Yeah. Um, yeah. We're only human. Yeah. Yeah. What can you do? What can you do? So Nance, how was your January going so far? Is it cold enough for you? Well, actually I just got back from a winter warmer in Florida. Can you believe it? Oh, I'm so jealous. I, I mean, you're inspiring me to get outta here and I can't believe it that I actually convinced Jason. To go down into the warm weather that it sounds was a miracle because Jason is the kind of guy who like at the very end of winter will schedule another skiing. Yeah. Vacation someone more, somewhere more north. Yes, exactly. And every time I say like, you know, we should get away and do something, he's like, oh, ski vacation. I'm like, there are other places in the world than ski mountains. Totally. And if you ever need someone to go south Yeah, I'll go, you'll go with me. Sunshine all the way. Yeah. Well, so this one actually happened because he had work, so, okay. Yeah. I tagged along, brought my, brought my laptop. Where you go? Uh, Naples. Ooh, yeah. Pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty pretty, west coast or east coast That is on the west coast. It's of Florida. Yeah. Yep. Yeah. Gotcha. I've been there, I just don't remember. Yeah. What he, what Jason usually does is he'll try to dangle, a Utah trip by saying oh, we can go visit Hugo Mm-hmm. How does that go? Well, I mean, great, but there's no snow there this year, so Oh my god. I know. Well, there's snow now, but, um, it seems like so often in these past 10 years if there's snow in the west, there's none here. Yeah. And if there's snow here, there's none in the west, it's like Yeah. One or the other. Mm-hmm. So strange. But Yeah. But it makes me appreciate the, the winter when I come back and I've warmed up a little. Yeah. But actually last year you got to realize a bit of a lifelong dream on your Utah trip, didn't you? I did, yeah. Yep. Actually, it was kind of warm there last year too. The, there wasn't much snow when I went but it was during Sundance, the s the Sundance Film Festival Festival. Yes. Um, and, um, founded by who? Robert Redford, my favorite actor of all time. Yep. So I had wanted to go for years and years and years, and I finally got the chance to go see some movies there and, I'm glad I did because actually they're moving. Yeah. This is the last year. Yeah, they're moving to Boulder, right, right through Colorado. My, my old hometown. Yeah. Yeah. Which is sad, but I guess it outgrew Park City and they were already doing like half the shows in Salt Lake, half the shows in Park City. It just got too big. Oh. Then why didn't they just stay in Park City? What's with Boulder? Um, I. I don't know for sure, but I think maybe the politics jive with Robert Redford's a little more. I see. Yep. Yeah. Yep. So I understand that. But um, so I got to actually yeah, do the Park City thing, which is fun. Oh, that is so cool. And while he was still alive. Correct. And while he was still alive. I mean, I didn't see him there, but Yeah. But he, was he there? I don't know. Like, I don't, I mean, he lives in, he lives in Utah. Let's, let's just say he was there, let's say, and you were there at the same time. Yeah. So you had some proximity. Exactly. And while these questions about Robert Redford, well that is such a coincidence that he came up, Nancy, because, I'm gonna be quizzing you about Robert Redford today. Yay. What's your favorite Robert Redford movie? Oh, it's hands down Butch Cassidy. Then the Sundance Skid. I mean, I've seen it gazillion times. That was almost a rhetorical question.'cause I already know that, you know that about me. I already know that. Oh, that's such a great movie. It's so good. I love it so much. My close second would be all the President's men. Oh yeah, I know that one. Political scandal. I've seen that. Yeah, so the questions I'm gonna be asking you today, I know you've seen almost all of them. Okay. You may have seen all of them, but I, I think you, I, I definitely haven't seen all his movies, so you might have hit on one. I didn't see. Yeah, yeah. But I've, I've almost seen all of them. Yeah. Oh yeah. Yeah. I mean, they are kind of ubiquitous, right? Classics. Yeah. Yeah. He was pretty prolific. And when I was, researching your questions, I mean, they were like. 50 movies. Yeah. At least to, to choose from. So, and I'm sure you're looking through them going Yeah, I saw that. I saw that. I saw that. Oh yeah, I forgot about that. I forgot about that. Like, I kept mm-hmm. Kept doing that. And I think I discovered a movie that I was wondering what movie it was that I saw in my childhood and I've been trying to figure it out your memory ever since. And I think this is it. I didn't rewatch it, so I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure. Okay. Let's talk about that when we get there. Okay. Yeah. When we get there. Yeah. I think my favorite scene in a movie though is from the way we were Did you ever watch that movie with Barbara Streisand? No, I didn't. What's the scene? It's a romance and it, but I do know that it is heartbreaking. It is a heartbreaking romance. Mm-hmm. Um, and. There's a scene in the beginning where they're gonna college together. They don't know each other. Mm-hmm. But she's this very New York Jewish politically motivated, outspoken. Outspoken. Exactly. And he's the wasp, you know? Mm-hmm. Everything comes easy to him. He looks just like untouchable. Right, right. And, they're in a writing class together, and, the teacher decides to read one of Robert Redford's pieces out loud, because he's so moved by it. And Robert Redford's super uncomfortable. The scene starts with the guy talking, reading the piece, but then it's sort of goes away and it's quiet. There's music only. And you just see him talking and you just see the faces of Barbara Sen's like upset at first, but then she's listening and starts to realize. Oh, wait, wait. Oh, this guy is deeper than I thought. Right? Like there's something beneath the beauty. Right. And it's just a, one of those quiet scenes that is all done with their eyes. Oh, it's really? That's awesome. Beautiful. Well, I, I have not seen it, but I did get, well, I watched Sex in the City. Yeah. And as you know that, well, maybe you don't know, but do you remember they had, least one whole episode or they, they kept talking about the way we were because when, um, big Mary's, Carrie? No, no. Oh, the other girl. The other one I've heard the other woman, Bridget, whoever. Bridget Warren. Harris. One Moynihan's character. Yeah. Um, yeah, they, Natasha spoke about that. Natasha. That's right. Yeah. Yeah. So I know what you're talking about. Yeah. You got the vibe. Yep. Exactly. Well, that's, that's the whole thing. It's all his movies are cultural touchstones. Right. Even if you didn't see the movie, you kind of know the references. Exactly. Which goes to show he really wasn't just a pretty face. No, he wasn't. He wasn't. He was a great actor and, a great director and yeah. Good guy. Well, I'm excited to, yeah, but wait, now we need to. Have a drink when we're doing this, right? Uh, yeah. Yeah, we do. Okay. So do you wanna hear what we're drinking? Yes. Okay. So I see it today. Okay. Grab your drink. Okay. We're gonna talk about it. This is in honor of Sundance. This is called the Johnny Utah. That's fun. And while the name might suggest it was inspired by Keanu Reeves in Point Break. Yeah. Point break. Catherine Bigelow is, uh, yeah, his outlaw surfer character in Point Brink, but unfortunately it's not. Mm-hmm. The cocktail is a sophisticated contemporary creation. Okay. As in, very recently, so popularized by renowned bartender Eric Castro and featured by the James Beard Foundation and by magazine. Yeah. So this is no joke. Serious. Around 2013, so 12 years ago. Okay. It's known for its unique celery juice. Mm. Tequila base. Mm-hmm. And subtle absent hint. Alright. Let, should we try it? Um, hold on, hold on. Offering a crisp, savory twist on the tequila cocktail. A distinct contrast to the handsome Johnny Oh. Which is vodka and ginger ale, so for the Johnny Utah, the ingredients are two ounces of Blanco tequila. Mm-hmm. Three quarters ounce of fresh lime juice. Okay. Three quarters ounce of celery syrup, and we're gonna talk about that in one second. Mm. Pinch of salt and one ounce of soda water. So to make the celery syrup take one cup of sugar. One cup of water, classic sugar syrup, and one cup of diced celery, including the leaves. And you combine all those, all the celery syrup ingredients in a small sauce pan over medium heat stir to dissolve the sugar, and then bring to a simmer and cook for five minutes. Mm. Infusing let, yeah. So let it cool at room temperature and then strain into a glass jar. And it keeps, if you refrigerator, it will keep up to two weeks. Awesome. So in a shaker, combine the tequila, lime juice, syrup, and ice, shake well and strain into a ice filled highball. Mm-hmm. And top with soda, water, and a pinch of salt and garnish. Yum. Yum's. Try this. It sounds kinda like a margarita, but healthier. Um, let's try it. Yeah, let's try it. Whoa. Mm yum. That is so different. You know, I don't love celery, but I love this. This is so different. It's as crisp and refreshing as a gin and tonic. Yeah. Mm-hmm. But it tastes healthy. Oh, you know what? It does remind me a little bit of a gin and tonic because Yeah. The juniper in the gin and tonic kind of. That's the celery in this in a little bit. Yeah, exactly. Mm-hmm. You're not, it's unexpected. Um, it's great. That is so good. That is really good. It almost tastes like you're, drinking a detox. We, I think we're detoxing now. We're Well, it is dry January. It's dry. Exactly, exactly. We're, we're detoxing, detox detoxing. This is our version of dry January. Exactly. Dry, dry tequila. Dry tequila. January. There we go. That's, that's, we'll just put vegetables in all our drinks in January. Oh my God, that is so healthy. Bee juice, beet juice and vodka. Wow. I just, oh my God, I feel good about myself now. I do actually. I already feel healthy. Um, okay. So guys, I would, I would check that out. It's worth making that celery syrup. Um, it's, I mean, that's easy. It's not even that hard. No. So, yeah, try this.
