Retired at 35.. with NO MONEY!
My personal story of choosing to “exit the matrix” of 40 hour workweeks and building corporations full-time, while living part-time. Doing this with no money—no savings, no pension, no 401k, nothing— but a strong inner knowing that it’s possible to create the life I want regardless of what we’re programmed to believe.
Retired at 35.. with NO MONEY!
Intro
Here's a brief explanation of the podcast in general and why I decided to retire at such a young age, with nothing to sustain me financially! It's definitely not for everyone, but if it's something you've considered, take a listen. :)
Really big thank you to you all, for listening to me share my story! <3
Well, welcome, welcome, welcome. If you are joining me on this probably going to be a roller coaster of a ride of a show. Thank you for tuning in and joining me.
I am your host of Retired at 35 with no Money.
My name is Jay. My social presence is known as I am Jaia, so that's where that comes from. But I'm just Jay to everybody that knows me. And we're not really going to talk about me right now per se, we'll get into me and who I am, I think the most, as the podcast progresses.
It'll be better because this entire podcast is about sharing my story. So you'll get to know me through the podcast.
I won't go into a terribly long introduction, but I'll tell you a little bit about who I am now, who I am today. And that's kind of only what matters, right?
Okay. So retired at 35 with no money, what is the podcast about?
First and foremost, it's just about me sharing my story of leaving behind the American dream, I guess, for lack of better terminology. Leaving behind the 40-hour work week, leaving behind the nine to five, leaving behind, you know, the 401Ks and the pensions and all the traditionally accepted things to do to, you know, retire, leaving all that behind and, you know, just following my heart. And I haven't always known, like, where my heart was even taking me, you know? So basically following my heart into the unknown, which is pretty freaking scary. I'll say that now. It's not for the faint of heart. It's not for everybody. But it's definitely for me. It was definitely for me.
And the point of this podcast, it’s not — I'll tell you what it's not, I guess — first, it's not to get you to do what I'm doing, per se, but it’s to get you to say, where in my life am I succumbing to the pressures of societal norms, outdated societal norms at that? and where I'm not living authentically for me, where I'm not living truthfully to where I want to be, where I'm essentially just unhappy?
Am I just doing what someone else told me I needed to do to survive in this life?
And that's where I was. I was under the impression that the only way you could survive as a human in this world was to work a good job until you can get a promotion or until you can save enough money to open your own business and have all the money to buy a house, buy the cars, go on vacation for, I don't know, two weeks out of the year. And that's what happiness was, you know, so that's what I was under the impression that that was my making it, that that was success.
And I've really had to define success for myself.
And so that's, I guess, the number one thing that I want to do is inspire somebody else to, number one, define success for yourself, and then to find the courage to follow the path that takes you to that success. And it's easier said than done.
Oh, my goodness. It can be a dark and lonely and isolating path, but it can be so wonderful and fun. and full of adventure and in the end, you get to where you need to go. I will say that.
You do get to where you need to go. But it does take a lot of courage to break free of what you have been programmed to believe is necessary for your survival, your success, and your happiness. And that just isn't true.
The only thing that's true is what you define for your life. So yeah, so I guess I kind of already got into the next point, which was: what is the intent of the show? And yeah, to inspire somebody to find the courage to follow their heart when you finally figure out that the path you're on isn't your path.
I also want to highlight the flaws in the American dream. I won't get heavily into that because I'm I'm more of a solution focused person than a problem focused person, but I do believe that some of that shh needs to be called out. I just, there's no other way to put it. Some of that stuff needs to be called out. Okay? Because it doesn't work for some of us.
And I know there are a lot of people that believe, and I'm one of them.. I don't know what you believe, but we are in a new energetic age. Many people believe that the age of Aquarius is already here. And in the old age, things worked a certain way. But in this new age, energetically it works a different way. And I'm not saying it's completely opposite, but I'm saying it works differently.
And so when we're in this new energy, I've found it best to work with the energy rather than against it. And if you're working without out-dated energy or energetic practices, then you're working against it. And we'll talk definitely more about that. I know that may have seemed pretty cryptic or vague, but we're definitely going to get into how that applies to this.
And then the last thing I think I just want, I intend for this show to highlight is that putting yourself first, putting yourself first is the one true path to abundance. Some people call it manifestation, some people call it your wishes being granted, some people call it your prayers being answered.
Honey, let me just tell you, God helps those who help themselves. That's from a movie. It's not in the Bible. First of all, let me just say, that's from a movie that I grew up actually thinking that they were quoting the Bible, but then I later on figured out that it wasn't actually in the Bible. That was funny. But I grew up watching this movie and she kept saying, honey, God helps those who help themselves. And it couldn't be more true. And it's a quote that's never left me. Even.. We won't get into all that, but I'll just say, like, putting yourself first is the only path to true abundance.
And yeah, there are people that manipulate this energy and they use it in a very shadowy way, which is kind of more of a service to self, “I'm going to build my empire by crushing everybody around me.” And that's how they put themselves first. I mean, and the universe does still recognize that energy because again, it's just energy. It doesn't care where it goes or who it goes to or to whom it goes, right? It just cares if somebody's bold enough, courageous enough to take on what's necessary to activate that energy, right?
And so I've found it to be more pleasant if you put yourself first without hurting others. Because there's no karma attached to that kind of, or there's no negative karma attached to that kind of thing. But. Yeah, I mean, you could do it the other way. You could take it how it resonates, take it how you want. There's no right or wrong here. But yeah, to just to highlight that putting yourself first is the only true path to abundance.
Yeah, so that’s that in a nutshell. That's what the podcast is about, and that's what I intend to convey through the main message of the show, you know, or those things.
So now I guess we can get into who am I? Who am I? I guess I can just read you what I wrote in my notes because it's actually just... It's enough.
I'm just a regular person with some not so regular ideas about life. I'm a nonconformist, I'm a rebel, and I'm a risk taker that will put my entire life on the line to test a theory. Yeah, so that's basically, I mean, I don't think I really need a whole big explanation of who I am because it kind of doesn't matter.
I'm just like you. I'm a human walking around in a meat suit on this dense reality called Earth. And I'm just trying to figure it out day by day as much as the next person.
There's nobody that has the absolute truth. There's nobody that's cracked the entire code or we wouldn't exist.
We're all here learning, we're all here. experiencing. We're all here sharing, right? Some of the sharing is positive, and some of it is negative, you know, it's just, but it is what it is, you know?
I will say this, I guess that I am a person who believes.. who believes in the power of energy as being the foremost power. And, you know, you hear it all the time, all his mind, mind over matter, you know, it all begins with the mind. And what is that? That's just energy, right?
A thought is energy.
So I've been very much in the energetic realms for many, many years playing around, experimenting with my different theories and, you know, just trying to figure this thing out.
It's very, very difficult because we are in a physical planet. and everything physical feels so real, right? And it is to an extent it is. But energy is the thing that never dies. So while the physical body feels real, it will die. But our energy that was inhabiting that body will continue to live on, so then in essence, it wasn't all the realist, you know? It was real for that moment, that lifetime, but it wasn't the realist.
So anyway, I say all that to say. I'm definitely a person that likes to deal a lot in energy. I like to see what happens when I do this and what happens when I shape that.
And I don't like to do, I've done a lot physically. Like I'm a former athlete, former coach, former business owner. I've done done a lot and I've built a lot in the physical realm. And I wanted to start building in the energetic realm heavily. Like I devoted my entire life to it around 2022, I think, is when I went, like full throttle. And yeah, we'll get into those results.
Well, that's pretty much the intro. I didn't want it to be a very long spiel. I didn't want to talk your head off. I wanted to give you some tidbits about the show and a little bit about me, your host, Jay from LA. And yeah, I think over the course of these, I think it's going to be 12 episodes. Over the course of these 12 episodes, you'll get to know who I am in depth, a whole lot better. As I tell the story.
Yeah, so I hope you want to have fun. I hope it's gonna It's something that you're into. Obviously, if you' stuck around and hear me talk through this, it's something that you're into. And yeah, let's have some fun, kids. All right, we'll see you in the next episode.
