That you'll leave each episode encouraged, strengthened, and reminded that God is walking with you through every single season of motherhood. Today we're talking about something every mom faces at some point: the heartache of praying for your kids and feeling like nothing is changing. I'm so glad you're here. Let's grow in grace together. Prayer is one of the most powerful. Gifts we have as mothers, but it can also be one of the most painful when we don't see answers right away. Maybe you've prayed for your child's anxiety, friendship struggles, identity, confidence, faith, behavior, choices, future, healing, and heart, and you've wondered, Lord, are you listening? Are you moving? Do you see what I see? He does, but his timeline doesn't always match our urgency. There have been seasons in my own motherhood where I prayed the same prayer over and over. God, please help him. Lord, please guide her. Jesus, please bring peace in this situation. Sometimes for weeks, sometimes for months, and yes, sometimes for years. And what I've realized is this, just because I didn't see anything happening didn't mean God wasn't working. God often moves in the soil of the heart long before we see the fruit on the surface. Think about that for a minute and let that soak in. Your prayers are not bouncing off the ceiling. They are planting seeds. Let's anchor this in scripture because God has a lot to say about the unseen work that He does, and I want you to know it. Galatians 6:9, "Let us not grow weary in doing good for at the proper time, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Prayer is doing good and there will be a harvest but it's rarely immediate, and that is so hard sometimes as moms. We want always what's best for our children, and it's so hard when we see them struggling and we're doing all we can and we think that prayer is not enough, but God is working behind the scenes. I promise you. Another verse to hide in your heart is Daniel 10:12. God tells Daniel, "From the moment you begin to pray, your words were heard." From the moment you prayed, God heard you. Not after a month, not after a breakthrough, not after behavior changed. He heard you right away. And I pray that you let that touch your heart and let that sink in and know that He is listening and He is working. Here's a third one, Isaiah 65:24. Write these down too. Write these down and put these in a journal and pray over these over and over again. I'll repeat them for you just in case you weren't writing them down before. Galatians 6:9, Daniel 10:12. Isaiah 65:24. Those are the first three. Isaiah says, "Before they call, I will answer. While they are still speaking, I will hear. Your voice moves the heart of God. It moves me just now just talking about it, because I've seen answers to prayers and no, they were not always immediate. But when you see God working, and you see how He really was listening, it's an awesome, moving moment for a mom. Okay, enough emotion for right now. Number four, 2 Corinthians 5:7, "We walk by faith, not by sight. Prayer is often hardest, not because God is silent, but because his work is invisible at first. So it's often hardest because he's not necessarily showing up big. He is working, like I said, behind the scenes where we can't always see because He's moving and He's creating what needs to happen for the benefit of those that we're
Amypraying for. For Their best, for their purpose that He has for their life, for His plan. So we have to walk by faith. We can't walk by sight, and what we are thinking is Him not taking control and not listening. He is. He is listening. So walk by faith, not by sight. What do you do when nothing seems to change? Here are three gentle truths for the mom that feels discouraged. Truth number one, God is working in ways you cannot see. Just like a seed underground. We can't see those. Growth begins long before it breaks the surface. Your child's heart may be softening, strengthening, or being positioned even if outward behavior looks unchanged. Remember that truth. Truth number two, God loves your child even more than you do. I know that's hard to imagine, but it's true. Your child is His creation, His delight, His responsibility. You are not carrying them alone, so reach out to your Heavenly Father when something's going on and you don't feel like you can do this by yourself. God is there and He's listening, and He's waiting for you to reach out to Him. Truth number three. Delays are not denials. Sometimes God is working in your child. Sometimes, He's working around your child. Sometimes, He's working through the circumstances before the change becomes visible. Some of God's greatest miracles are slow miracles. I want to share with you some practical ways to pray when you're weary. Number one, pray scripture back to God. Take His words and turn them into your prayers. His word is live and active. His scripture is God breathed. So here's an example, "Lord, you promised to give wisdom, generously. Give my child wisdom." "God, you said you are close to the brokenhearted. Be close today." Those are both from scripture, but you turn them around and turn them into a prayer. Let's do another one. Number two, pray one word, prayers. Your prayers do not have to be long. They do not have to be formal. God just wants it from your heart. Do you know that He hears you even if you can't say a word. He knows your heart. He knows your struggles. So even if you can't say anything, you take the time. You can think it and God will hear you. But you can pray one word, prayers. So when you're tired, when you're anxious, when you're overwhelmed, this is what you can say. These are some one words, prayers. Protect. That's a one word prayer. Guide. That's a one word prayer. Calm. One word prayer. And another one, restore. Those are four one-word prayers. Here's two more. Strengthen. And lastly, Help. Maybe you don't know what to say, but you know that your loved one needs help. Just say help. God just wants you to reach out. He understands the whole sentence inside that one word. Number three, use a handoff prayer. Picture yourself placing your child into God's hands. Not symbolically. Literally imagine it. Lord, I'm handing them to you. Carry what I can't. This shifts the weight spiritually and emotionally. If I can just tell you one thing, and I want to be encouraging. Nothing you pray is wasted. Every word matters, every tear matters. Every hope matters. You may not see it yet, but God is moving in the unseen places, and your child is never outside His reach. Thank you so much for spending this time with me today on the Grace-Filled Mom Podcast. If this episode encouraged you, I would love for you to share it with another mom who is praying faithfully for her kids and needs a gentle reminder that God hears every word. Remember, wherever you are in your motherhood journey, you are not alone. God sees you. He loves you, and His grace is enough for every single step. I'll see you next time.
