Hey resonators, welcome to Frequency Pep Talks where we tune our hearts until heaven sound. I am your host, Coach Kelly, and today we are talking about spirit dependency. And one may ask, what is spirit dependency? And spirit dependency is when a person becomes so dependent on a spirit, a voice, a feeling, or a supernatural influence that they stop depending on God. It's when a person begins following voices over God's word, feelings over truth, emotions over discernment, people over prayer, or even supernatural experiences over a relationship with God. For example, someone may become dependent on always needing a prophet to tell them what to do, or um chasing signs and miracles instead of having that intimacy with God, or always reading a horoscope, or or looking for someone to do tarot cards or spiritual rituals, or sometimes they may have emotional highs during worship without pursuing obedience, or constantly needing validation from others to feel spiritually secure. The danger is not the spiritual out the spirituality itself, in that the danger is becoming attached to something that replaces that trust in God. True Holy Spirit dependency draws you closer to God, it will draw you closer to His Word, to His peace, and to His truth. So instead of being led by the Holy Spirit, sometimes we are controlled by fear, emotions, trauma, addictions, toxic soul ties, um, um, unhealthy agreements, false teaching, or even familiar spirits masquerading themselves as truth. So, in that spirit dependency happens when people they look to physics instead of prayer, when they run again to people before they run to God, always needing a word. Um, again, validation seekers, you know, always wanting someone to co-sign and validate who they are. Um, so this is just you know, when they depend on substances, substances, relationships, or counterfeit spiritual experiences to feel whole. But know this: God never called us to be dependent on bondage, He called us to be dependent on Him. The Holy Spirit empowers, counterfeit spirits enslave. The Holy Spirit brings peace, counterfeit spirits bring confusion. The Holy Spirit leads you into truth, counterfeit spirits lead you into control and deception. Many times, you know, we don't realize that there are spiritual dependent until something's been removed, right? And we discover that we no longer have that stability without it. That's why God sometimes allows separation, silence, wilderness seasons. Come on, somebody, who's been in a wilderness season and breaking seasons, not to destroy you, but to disconnect you from that unhealthy dependency and reconnect you back to Him. Sometimes, and I'll just use this for an example. Sometimes we get so dependent on, I'll say, our money or our paychecks or whatever it is, you know, versus depending on God, you know, us working on our assignments in this earthly realm, that's our assignment, and yes, we do receive a paycheck for an assignment, but that's just the resource. But God is the source, so in that when we become dependent on that, sometimes you might walk into that season where you feel like it's lack, but is it lack, or as God said, I want you to depend on me supernaturally versus depending on this right here. So because God wants his sons and daughters led by the spirit and not prisoners controlled by one another, you know, he tells us in Romans 8 and 14, he says, For as many as are led by the spirit, they are the sons of God. So today we are going to be exposing unhealthy spiritual attachments, breaking those toxic dependencies, and learning how to fully depend on the spirit of the living God. If you would turn to, if you can, um, Acts 1 1 and 8, it says, But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. Many of us sometimes we're trying to fulfill a spiritual assignment through natural ability. You know, we forget we got to put that super on that natural, but the kingdom of God was never designed to function through self-sufficiency, it functions through spirit dependency. The disciples who had already walked with Jesus, they heard his teaching and they witnessed the miracles. Yet, Jesus still told them, wait for the Holy Spirit. Why? Because knowledge without empowerment cannot sustain kingdom assignment. The moment we stop depending on the spirit, we start depending on ourselves. Going back to, you know, uh the work thing with the paycheck, right? If we start depending on that paycheck and forgetting what God's word said when he said, I will supply all your needs according to his riches and glory, then we don't have to really depend on the money because God already said, I'm gonna take care of you. I know that you are here, I sent you here, and I am going to take care of you. So, again, that is a resource, but God is our source. So, I'm gonna make about five quick points on spiritual dependency. The first one, um, if you get turned to your word in Acts 2, 1 through 4, it talks about the Pentecost was the moment heaven empowered humanity again. Before the Spirit came, the disciples they would hide or they would doubt it and operated in fear. But after the spirit came, we were able to preach boldly, heal the sick, confront darkness, and transform entire nations and regions. That's what we're here to do, to transform. Human strength may help you survive naturally, but only the spirit gives you that supernatural power, and we should be walking in that supernatural power. God never called us to perform for him, that's never what he said. He called us to depend on him, to trust him, not to so much believe in his word, but believe the word. In Acts 13 and 2, the Holy Spirit directed the early church because they were listening, and in that listening comes surrender, sensitivity, obedience, and trust. You cannot be spirit-led while remaining self-led. So many times, again, we try to do things ourselves, but we're saying no, he's saying no. I want you to depend on me. I left you the comforter for a reason. He left us the Holy Spirit for a reason. And there are times when control is often the greatest uh enemy of spiritual dependency. Sometimes we like to control the outcome, but is that really leaning on the spirit of the Lord or is that leaning on us? And I'm saying that personally because I've dealt with this. The Holy Spirit had revealed to me, you know, for so many years. He said, You have been striving but not thriving. And I was like, Okay, Holy Spirit, what do you mean by that? He said, Because you're always trying to control the outcome. I didn't even realize I was doing that, but when he broke it down to me, now I understand it because if he would say do XYZ, I might do A B C. And I was trying to control the outcome because I couldn't understand XYZ. So, in that, you know, he chastised me. He said, No, that's not right. You have to depend on me. So, in that dependency begins where self-sufficiency dies. So, I had to die to self, die that flesh, and learn how to totally depend on the Holy Spirit. Number three, spirit dependency produces boldness. Um, in Acts 4 and 31, the disciples, the disciples were ordinary people carrying extraordinary authority because they depended on the spirit, and that's what we have to do. We have to learn to transform and depend on the spirit. Boldness is not arrogance, boldness is confident in God's presence, and sometimes the world may say, Oh, you know, you're arrogant, or oh, um, I've had people telling me I was condescending, or people said a whole lot, but at the end of the day, it's the boldness that I have in God's presence because he said, I didn't give you the spirit of fear, but power, love, and a sound mind. So we have to be bold in this supernatural living that we are ordained to walk in. Because also the spirit gives courage where fear once rule. So you might have the courage, you may not have had the courage before, and I'll use this as an example. You might have the courage to go somewhere and buy something, and you might not realize you might not have the money at that time, but the Holy Spirit is telling you, I want you to go here and I want you to purchase this. And you might say, Well, Lord, how am I gonna do this? I don't have you know any money to do this, I don't have the credit for this. It's not about that, it's about following the instructions, it's about following the instructions and doing what he said to do. All you gotta do is go to ABC and do XYZ, and then he will take care of the rest. So that's when we know the spirit gives us courage where fear once ruled. When you know God is with you, the intimidation loses its power. You will no longer be intimidated by things because you're walking with the Holy Spirit. Number four, spirit dependency activates spiritual gifts. So in 1 Corinthians 12, it tells us about the spiritual gift. The gifts of the spirit flow through yielded vessels. So, in that, it's going to release wisdom, prophecy, healing, discernment, miracles, and most of all, revelation. Spiritual gifts are not sustained by talent, they are sustained by the intimacy with God. Gifts function best where dependency is strongest. Remember that. Our gifts function best where dependency is strongest. Number five, spirit dependency sustains the assignment. So, in that, we have to remember what God assigns, the spirit sustains. You cannot carry a divine assignment with exhausted humanity alone. Sometimes we're so exhausted in the flesh and we're still trying to carry a divine assignment. This is where we have to call on the Holy Spirit to come in and intercede for us. Many people sometimes they're exhausted because they've mastered activity, but again, lost the dependency, depending on the spirit. And God is calling us back to prayer, he's calling us back to be present, he's calling us back to his intimacy and to surrender. Surrender is just not a one-time thing. I believe surrender is an everyday thing because he said, Choose this day whom you shall serve. Every day we get a new day full of grace and mercy, right? So, in that we should be surrendering unto the will of God, not my will, but thy will on earth as it is in heaven. Holy Spirit, what are we going to do today? Holy Spirit, what am I going to wear today? Holy Spirit, who should I talk to today? What is it that you want me to do today? Because remember, he said the word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. So we should be unctioning and co-creating with the Holy Spirit so the Holy Spirit can lead us and guide us throughout our day. And in that, it's about remaining connected to the spirit. So spirit dependency is not weakness, it doesn't mean anything like that, regardless of what the world says. It is the highest form of kingdom strength. We were never designed to lead alone, fight alone, build alone, or fulfill purpose alone. Remember, when Jesus left, he said, It's better that I go, but I will leave you a comforter. So we're never alone because we have the Holy Spirit. We don't have to fight alone because we have the Holy Spirit. We don't have to build what God says to build because we have the Holy Spirit to co-create with. So lastly, just remember this you cannot fulfill a spiritual assignment with human strength because divine purpose depends on spiritual dependency. Now I know that was a lot to take in, but the good thing is we can take advantage of technology, right? You can rewind this, you can pull up your scriptures, go into Acts, go into First Corinthians and read on that and ask the Holy Spirit to come in and to teach you these things.
