The Architect is a seminal figure in West Coast hip-hop, best known as one half of the ’90s duo Homeliss Derilex. Emerging from Milpitas, California, he helped shape the early sound of Stones Throw Records and produced for artists like Coolio, Planet Asia, Rasco, and Encore. After a hiatus, The Architect has collaborated with some of the best in the rap game. In recent years, he has served as a touring DJ for Souls of Mischief, supporting their 30th-anniversary world tour of 93 ’Til Infinity. His signature production style—layered, sample-heavy, and steeped in the ethos of the “new golden era”—continues to resonate with both longtime fans and a new generation of hip-hop listeners.
