This week on That Ain’t Happenin’, we’re covering two of society’s greatest modern dangers: Facebook scams and parking lot road rage.

First up: Facebook scams. Somehow every scammer online either wants your banking information, your login code, or wants you to believe they’re selling a 2022 camper for $800 because they’re “moving overseas suddenly.” We also dive into the complete madness happening in parking lots everywhere. Apparently once people enter a crowded parking lot, all traffic laws and human decency disappear. And of course, we could not ignore graduation season chaos. Every family suddenly owns matching shirts, giant balloon arches, and enough yard signs to start a small advertising company.

SPEAKER_01

Welcome back to That Ain't Happening a Podcast. I'm Sam.

SPEAKER_02

I'm Maya.

SPEAKER_01

And we are here today to talk to you about lots of things. Yep. We have a couple updates about previous episodes and things that we have um experienced ourselves related to previous episodes. And then we are going to talk about graduation.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, it's the season. I love graduation. I do too.

SPEAKER_01

It's a long day, but it's a lot of fun. Such a sense of accomplishment.

SPEAKER_02

100%.

SPEAKER_01

The culmination of all the work coming to fruition.

SPEAKER_02

100%. And I did all of my graduation parties, so we'll definitely talk about that. Yes.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. But I don't really remember high school. Did we do them in high school? I'm sure we did. And I feel like our high school we're kind of off topic, but I feel like our high school um had like an after-graduation party where you could like win like mini fridges and TVs.

SPEAKER_02

That's right.

SPEAKER_01

I won like some there was no really cool stuff.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Now yeah, because I won like a little like cleaning kick. It was like a broom and some other crap. But yeah, it was nice. It was nice. It gets you excited about the next step, you know. For sure. But yeah, I think that's all we did in high school. We didn't really have a lot of money to do anything else.

SPEAKER_01

For sure. And then like all your friends are graduating.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, everyone's doing it together.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So what do you like? How do you manage that?

SPEAKER_02

Well, you go to the different parties. We did that when you graduated. We went to a couple of other people's parties. Right, but I don't know. But I think it would it was when you graduate with undergrad, I think. Probably. Because we were just house hopping.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

But high school, it's yeah, high school was just high school for us, guys. Sorry. We don't have anything exciting to share about that. Glad we made it. Moving on.

SPEAKER_01

Well, we do have things to share because we you get to go sign the the tower and the things like that, which okay, we can talk about as well.

SPEAKER_02

We can talk about that. Everybody doesn't have a tower in our high school. Right.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Right. All right. Do we want to start with updates or graduation?

SPEAKER_02

Let's do updates because graduation, we have a lot to share.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so one update is based off our scam episode because it um was something that actually I I don't want to say happened to me because I I didn't get scammed, but very much potentially could have, and people did get scammed from this situation. So but here's what happened I have um a person who actually uh was someone that I was like kind of worked with, we're not super close, but like we still communicate in the profession and things of that nature. And she posted on Facebook. Well, let me preface it appeared that she posted on Facebook that her uncle was having to get moved to a nursing home. Okay, and so they were trying to liquidate his assets in order to help pay for all the things. Um so there were I mean, it was crazy. So they had this post and it had all the pictures. So there were multiple cars, there were um Rolexes, there were like four-wheelers and uh lawn mowers. Oh, fancy tools. Everything must go. Right. I mean, there was quite a bit of stuff on there, some furniture. I'm trying to think what else, but neither here nor there. So and then under the post, so with all these pictures, and then there under the post was a list of everything with the price. Okay, okay, and then some of the items said sold and had like somebody's name already, like associated. Okay, they're taken. So being that I have a soon-to-be driver, I was like, they had some older cars that had lower miles but were like in still good shape, okay, perfect for first-time driver type cars, and because uh again, as they wrote that they were trying to liquidate, they were pricing them to sell. Okay, and so I messaged her through Messenger, which I have communicated with her before on Messenger, so you could see you could see the previous conversations, and I was like, Hey, I'm really sorry to hear about your uncle. Um, can you tell me more about car A and car B? Yeah, so she sent me like information about the cars and said, Um, I'm out of town until Friday helping manage some things for my uncle. However, if you're interested in one of the cars, then um I'm just asking for a deposit to hold it so that you know it's completely refundable. That's what said completely refundable. But then when I get back Friday, like you come drive it. If you don't like it, then um we will you know give you your money back. Okay. So we kind of went back and forth a little bit talking. Um, I was in no way gonna send money. How much we have to deposit? I was like kind of overwhelmed. So for one of the cars it was 2,000 and for another one of the car was three thousand. No, no, that's a whole car on its own. What are you talking about? I was like, oh, so I finally messaged and I was like, well, is there any way? You know, my husband could come drive it today, tomorrow, Friday, Saturday, like whatever. And they were like, Well, you know, if it doesn't already have a deposit on it, like we'll I'll arrange that. And I'm like, okay. And I just said, Hey, you know, it's not it's not that I don't trust you, I trust you a hundred percent. Sure. However, I don't trust the internet, uh number one, and I just am not comfortable sending that much money without seeing something, exactly, like knowing for sure. And then the so then the last response was, okay, well, if it's still here Friday, I'll let you know. All right. So fast forward an hour, and I go back because I was gonna show my husband something, and her whole for Facebook page is gone. Girl, what the whole Facebook page is gone, okay, like entirely gone. So I was like, oh my gosh, this wasn't her. No, and so I kind of I mean, first of all, I was glad I didn't send money, and I messaged her on Instagram and I was like, Did you get hacked? And she said yes.

SPEAKER_02

So her whole your message on Messenger on Facebook was gone too?

SPEAKER_01

No, just her post, just the her Facebook page. Okay, the messenger was still there, okay, the Facebook page was completely shut down. Okay. So, um, so when you send the message on end, that what happened. So she was like, I did, um, she had some friends text her about the vehicles. Yeah. She knew more closely and was like, what are you talking about? I don't have any card for you, honey. Right? And so um, so her Facebook page went down. So then she messaged me um again through Messenger to let me know that um she got her Facebook page back. Okay, she got her Facebook page back. Okay. Um she was like, I'm so glad you didn't send any money. She had a friend send six grand.

SPEAKER_02

Girl, no, they're trying to get both card. Give me A and B, please. Six grand to these people.

SPEAKER_01

And it's gone. She said it happened to her friend like a few weeks ago, and two people had sent like three thousand, or maybe three people had sent three thousand, I think. Um, to and it's like to the Zell or Zelly, I don't know. Yeah, whatever it was, whatever it was, to make the deposit. Oh my god. And so I guess it's so crazy. I just be careful because I think if they're asking for a deposit, especially if you're someone you knew. So some things that I noticed in my communication with this person that wasn't Laura, um, was she would always call me Sam. Okay, like we've known each other well enough. If you're cordial enough, she's gonna call me Sam. So when I first sent the message saying I was sorry about her uncle, the person replied to me, hi Samantha. Oh, problem. And so that hit me a little strange. So I didn't like go overboard with it. Right, because you're like, maybe she just got a lot going on, right? It's auto-tecting, but then I was like, she would never ask me for that much of the deposit.

SPEAKER_02

And she would let you come to the crib and be like, you can come look at the card, whatever, drive them, whatever.

SPEAKER_01

Right, yes, yes, but the other crazy thing was um, so the post that had like all the pictures and the listing and like all the things with the with the money next to it, she had they she didn't, but they had tagged people, so it looked super legit like oh, like she's tagging you know, family members or whatever. So there were people tagged in the post. Wow, they're gonna be able to do that. Even it wasn't just like just a straight up post. Yeah, these are professional, yeah. And now at the bottom, like a messenger, it like says look out for unusual requests for money or personal info, maybe a sign that this account was stolen. Oh, like so it is talking about it because it did happen, yeah. But watch out, y'all.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, be careful out there, be careful don't send 2,000, 3,000, even 200. I wouldn't say any money.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I wouldn't say any money really know them. Exactly, and that's what I said. I was like, without having like a full-on conversation with you, like talking to you on the phone, knowing that it is you, I'm not sending money.

SPEAKER_02

Exactly. Good thing you did it.

SPEAKER_01

But somebody that one of my friends that six grand so much money, and I think that's the crazy thing is they create this. Like, if you're the first one to put a deposit, yeah, holding it, and they're telling you it's completely refundable, which again was a red flag to me. I'm like, but how do I ensure that I can have it refunded? Like once it's sent, it's sent, it's done, you have it.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know that I can get it back because I don't even know you, obviously.

SPEAKER_01

But um, they create that sense of urgency, like so I really want this car, I need it or whatever. Yeah, I just have to put the deposit down, and then in a couple days I can go get it or mine, it's great. Whether it's like I think there were four cars that were listed. That's so much money. One was like a really nice truck, like a Denali truck. Oh, nice. Um, but yeah, it was crazy.

SPEAKER_02

That is so crazy. It's sad. And this is a thing, so sad. These are the only cases that she knows about other people could have sent money to, and just haven't reached out and told her, you know? For sure.

SPEAKER_01

Other people could have sent money.

SPEAKER_02

Oh my god, that's crazy.

SPEAKER_01

I didn't, just so everybody knows, but I do feel like personal service announcement. Be mindful, like, especially when it's all that like stuff people want, like, right? People want cars, they want tools, they want recreational vehicles. I think there was a camper even. Oh, that's definitely one of the things that will go up. So, I mean, just oh, make sure it's that because like I said, I talked to her through the messenger that I have talked to her through before. Yeah, like you could see your old conversation. Yeah, they're all there. I mean, it made it look really legit. But I but also be mindful, and so this is the other thing that I think you can do is ask them something that only they would know. So, like what I wish I would have done is I wish I would have been like, How do you we know each other? Right. Tell me how we know each other. Exactly. I need to confirm that it's you. Let me know how do we know each other? Yeah, because I don't think they could have answered that.

SPEAKER_02

Well, and that's putting those safety words and parameters in place, like we talked about on the scam episode. That's how you can verify who it is. Are they really who they say they are or not, you know? Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Oh man, but that's good to know. I think I would have done that too. Like, um, where do you know me from?

SPEAKER_01

Right. I did it in the moment, but I didn't send money. But I wish I would have. I wish I would have really pushed it and tested them. Yeah. Um, because but I think they get you in a tough situation because you don't want to like feel like you're being rude to your friend.

SPEAKER_02

Like you said, I don't trust the internet, so I'm just verifying that you are who you say you are. It's okay to say that, and somebody that's your friend would recognize that and be like, oh yeah, girl, you know, I know you from so and so. Right. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

For sure.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. I know. It's it's insane. Yeah, well, y'all be careful out there, pay attention.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, watch out for that.

SPEAKER_02

Don't send any money, not even a dollar. So that you because there's no guarantee you're gonna get any of that back.

SPEAKER_01

No, and I think it's scary enough to buy a used car from a person. Yeah. Just because you don't, I mean, they'll tell you it's all good, they tell you.

SPEAKER_02

You just don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Right? Yeah. And then you drive it off and it like blows up. Um or just completely dies. No warranty that that's so scary anyway. But and we've bought used cars from people, it can be fine. Um, and you can get the best deal, but it's just it's still tricky.

SPEAKER_02

You still gotta be careful, you still gotta have some um, you know, self-awareness about what's going on just to be on the safe side, right? Because it can get to the level where you're losing six grand and you can't get it back. Oh god, that just makes my heart hurt. I know. When Sam told me this story, I was like, girl, what? Who sent sent six thousand dollars?

SPEAKER_01

I know that's the most disheartening part of it. It's like, oh man. Anyway, I hope these people get caught. Yes, a hundred percent. And I also feel like the reality is karma's a bitch.

SPEAKER_02

100%. So y'all be careful out there if you're buying stuff on people are coming for them. Yep, on Messenger, anywhere on the internet, just be super careful. Because anybody can make anything look real, obviously.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, it looks so real. Yeah, and even they even um, so you know on uh Facebook now, like there's the like thought bubble that you can write something in. Okay, like you there's like you have your profile picture and you can write something in a thought bubble. Okay. They wrote in the thought bubble about being sad about her uncle. Oh, stop.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, they went all out. Like I said, y'all, these are professionals that they are dealing with.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you can have like a little thought bubble, and it's insane. Wow, I don't have a thought bubble. But she did, she took hers off. The thought bubble went away.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I mean it's probably for the bad.

SPEAKER_01

That's crazy. Anyway, yeah, and you gotta make sure you ask them something that's not listed on their Facebook page. Yeah, that anybody can listed like where she works. So me asking her where she works, they wouldn't make it about that would have they would have been able to answer that. But also, um, you know, like their grammar was was good. Yeah, like it didn't sound like broken up or anything. No, yeah, it was it was like normal. I don't know. Anyway, so that's my update for scams. That is a new scam that's going around. I don't know if it's still going around, I'm sure it is because I'm sure they made crop tons of money off of it, and it's a quick thing, right?

SPEAKER_02

Because by the time Facebook comes in, they shut it down and then they move on to another page.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_02

So just be careful.

SPEAKER_01

Be careful.

SPEAKER_02

I I bet there's a lot of that going on that people don't wouldn't even think it's an issue because oh, this is my friend, I know them. Right. Yeah, oh man, that is so crazy.

SPEAKER_01

Something I never would have responded to if I didn't know her.

SPEAKER_02

Right, because you would have just kept scrolling, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Right, yeah, for sure.

SPEAKER_02

So, yeah, thanks for sharing that with us. Everybody be vigilant.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, now we have one that's a little bit of an update from like our road rage episode. Yeah, we've had some changes. I don't even know why this all like plays out for me. Anyway, um, long story short, I was backing out of a parking spot. I had backed out fully, put and I looked down to shift my car and to drive, and I was looked back up and I was turning the wheel so that I could, you know, not hit the car that was parked right next to me. I have to turn the wheel to go around them to go straight out. As I looked up and started turning my wheel, I saw a person backing towards me from the parking spot that was opposite mine. And I my brain said, Oh shit, she's gonna hit me.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And in that split second, I went to try to hawk my horn, but she just bumped me. Okay. Okay. And then I said a lot of other cuss words because I was really angry. Um, but based on where we were, because I was fully out of my spot, I had fully backed up and was going to, you know, turn to drive forward.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_01

She had to have backed pretty fully out of her spot, and so we were literally blocking like where you would drive through that lane, right? Yeah. So I pulled my car back into my parking spot before I got out because I mean to block the whole like parking lot thoroughfare there. Um, and I got out, and the first thing that that driver said to me was, Were you not looking? Did you not see me? Oh wow. To which I responded, I saw you back into me through my rearview mirror.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And she's like, That's not possible. You you backed into me. And I said, No, my car was in drive. I have cameras, backup camera, and I have sensors. Yeah. So if my car was still in reverse, that would have been on and I would have seen you in my camera. Right. She said, um, no, no. And then she started to throw fit that um it was a parking lot, so it's not gonna be anybody's fault anyway. And da da da. And she had a passenger with her who was like doubling down on everything. Somebody getting routed. I'm like, well, you can call the police, but like it's a parking lot. Our cars are drivable. Yeah. Um, but so we started taking pictures of the quote unquote damage, quote unquote. And she walks over to my car to take the picture and she goes, That's all that's wrong with your car.

SPEAKER_02

Like she's like, bottom line is you did it. Yes, it is what's wrong with my car because you did it. It was perfect before your aft came along.

SPEAKER_01

And I turn and look at her car, girl, and I'm like, How much of the damage that's on your bumper was already there? Because let me tell you guys, there were two spots with significant damage on her bumper. Okay. So there's one like in the middle of her bumper. Okay. The bumper itself is like sliced open. Oh man. Like it's got like a cut.

SPEAKER_02

The Subi did not do that, period.

SPEAKER_01

And um it looks to me like where you see like these lines that are almost vertical on the bumper where the paint has come off that it was like a trailer hitch or something that like hit it and then it cracked to slice that part open. Then on her driver's side, um, the very like corner of the bumper was heavily dented in, and then that side, the bumper was a little bit like not attached anymore. Like it was like it was attached, but it was like separated, like the seam on the top where the bumper connects to the car was definitely not where it should be.

SPEAKER_02

This is all prior damage for everyone that hasn't ever worked in the insurance industry.

SPEAKER_01

So I asked her how much was there, and she looked at me and said, none of it.

SPEAKER_02

No, you're lying, ma'am. Come on, let's be honest here.

SPEAKER_01

She said, None of this was here before my bumper was perfect. No, it was not because all of this is rusted. And I said, That's not possible.

SPEAKER_02

Good job. Shut that shit down because your ass is lying.

SPEAKER_01

And oh no, she double downed on it. She was you can.

SPEAKER_02

At the end of the day, I know better than that. So I took pictures.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. I took pictures of hers, I took pictures of mine. Mine, I did not have a dent. There were some scratches, and one of my backup sensor plates had like kind of popped out. But um, yeah. How fast was she pulling out of the parking lot? You can't. That's the other thing. You can only go like if you're going backwards. Like if you like pedal to the metal backwards, you're really probably not gonna go more than five miles an hour. Like the cars just don't go fast backwards. That's true.

SPEAKER_02

They're made to go forward. That's true.

SPEAKER_01

So I mean, not yeah, not fast. Yeah. So I I mean the damage just didn't make sense at all. So I called my husband. I was so mad because they were like, um, you hit us, blah blah. Look, we're further out. I'm like, you're further out because I pulled back in to stop blocking the driveway. Blocking traffic. You guys left your car where it was.

SPEAKER_02

Right.

SPEAKER_01

Like, don't even come at me with that.

SPEAKER_02

Exactly. So I wish I would have been with you. This would have been so fun. Oh. I'd be like, you sit down. Quickly.

SPEAKER_01

Be quiet. And I was like, I I am they're being so mean. Yeah. And I'm like, I know. I saw her hit me. Like I watched it happen, and it's just so frustrating.

SPEAKER_02

Right, of course. Because they're trying to use you to get a new bumper. Correct.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's all it is. So he's like, I feel like you were targeted. They saw an opportunity. Mm-hmm. Take advantage of it. Yes. Yeah. So anyway. People are wild. You gotta be really careful, guys. You really do that people can actually target you, and then they can tell you that the damage is from what happened, and there's just literally no way. And even when they went, when I took my car in to get it like appraised, or whatever you want to say, like the damages, you know, yeah, I'm gonna fix this. I showed the guy my these pictures, and he was like, Well, this there's he's like, Your plastic bumper could not have done that to her plastic bumper. He's like, That's metal. Hello. He's like, metal's the only thing that's gonna cut a bumper open. Yep. So he's like, it's had to have been a trailer hitch or like one of those like um like handicapped, like if you have like a scooter, like the the the thing that goes into a trailer hitch that um is like a platform to like transport it. Okay, sure. Yeah, yeah. He's like, it has to be something like that because this damage is something happening well.

SPEAKER_02

This damage is significant, is what he's saying. Like, there's no way your car did all of that, right?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he's like I maybe she didn't realize that it happened at some point.

SPEAKER_02

No, she realized it, she just left it and trying to make you pay for it. That's all.

SPEAKER_01

So, anyway, um, yeah, be careful guys, because yeah, people are trying to pin stuff on you.

SPEAKER_02

They're wild out here.

SPEAKER_01

I was so mad.

SPEAKER_02

Absolutely wild. Well, because of that, like you guys heard us on the scam episode where Will was talking about um having cameras, and he had actually gotten um some cameras for his vehicle. There was one in the front and one in the back, and then of course, on the wonderful TikTok shop, he saw some upgraded ones and ordered one for all of our vehicles. He put mine in over this weekend, and I just showed showed it to Sam. It's very badass. So um it has cameras, it's a one piece with a camera that is the cameras on both sides and a camera for your forward facing, and then there's a camera in the back of the car as well. And then you have the app that records everything in real time. So if Sam would have had that situation, she could have just showed the police officer the app or the insurance company, whoever, and that would have shut this whole thing down. So I think with nowadays, the way that people are out here scamming and trying to take advantage of people, I don't think it could hurt to have those in your vehicle because I was very anti-camera for a really long time. Um, can't um Will had wanted to get me one when he had his first one, and I was just like, No, I think I'm good, I'm not really interested in that.

SPEAKER_01

And well, this would be overwhelming, like how that much happened. And how to do this a bit overwhelming, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

How to do this, how to do that. But now the ones we have are super easy. But with Sam having a couple of situations just recently, like we all need to have something to protect ourselves and be able to back up what it is we're saying for sure.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, it was so so frustrating, so frustrating, but it's okay. We're all moving on.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, we're all moving. You're safe. I'm safe.

SPEAKER_01

Nobody got hurt because nobody was moving, but yeah, any speed at all. Yeah, it's just moving and yeah, and just drama.

SPEAKER_02

I love that you showed the adjuster the pictures, and he's like, There's no way. That's right.

SPEAKER_01

He's like and you guys so nice. He's like, I like to give people the benefit of the doubt.

SPEAKER_02

But no, no, she's gaming, she's gaming, yeah. Bottom line. And then your insurance company found them at fault, right? Right.

SPEAKER_01

Your insurance company, yes, deemed that it was not my fault. Um, I don't know what happened between the two insurances. My insurance was like, yeah, this isn't your fault. And so, because I was like, I don't want you guys to pay for her car, and they're like, Oh no, we won't we won't, don't worry about that. That's up to her insurance, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

A hundred percent. Normally, what'll happen? I worked in the insurance company many years ago, you guys. But normally what'll happen is they'll pay for your damage and then they'll go after their insurance company to get the money back. Yeah, yeah, that's which is what you want to happen, you know, to where it's like this is why I pay insurance, so they can take care of that and make sure I'm whole and uh they can do the fighting on their end.

SPEAKER_01

Like, I'm like, I don't want my rates to go up because this wasn't my fault and you decided to back into me.

SPEAKER_02

Right, exactly. Rates going up, yeah, that's a part of it too. So, yeah, well, we're not buying a new bumper, so we don't have to worry about that. Right, no, no, it's a good thing your card team has a Subaru, so do I. Safest cards on the road, just so everyone knows. So I'm happy that yours was just very minimal and you're able to get it done in one day.

SPEAKER_01

That's why I was like, how does yours look like that? And mine looks like this, it doesn't make sense. Like, none of that.

SPEAKER_02

With this rust you got over here, Sarah. Sit down makes sense. Sit down, please. Sit down. That's crazy. I would have been like, oh, okay, we'll we'll we'll let the insurance company decide that. Because I'm pretty positive they'll say this is all prior damage. Right. Yeah. My vehicle has nothing, really, you know. This is definitely on you.

SPEAKER_01

It was it was interesting.

SPEAKER_02

People are wild, and for them to try to get hostile.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, they were they were like um like just yeah, they were very flippant about it, like oh, that's on you.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, this is I didn't have when she said none of it, I would have laughed in her face. Like, come on, Paul.

SPEAKER_01

The look on my face was crazy. Come on. I was like, am I being punked? 100%. For those of you that don't know what that is, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

MTV in the 90s, yeah. Was it the 90s? I loved punk with Ashton Kusher. Yes, right after he came off of that 70s show, right? Yep, yeah, that was a really good show.

SPEAKER_01

Remember when they didn't I mean it was kind of mean sometimes.

SPEAKER_02

My favorite, you guys, they did pink, and you know, pink does not take any shit anyway, and so they set her up to make it look like her husband Carrie had done something, and so she's going all off on Carrie, and Axton comes out of uh comes up behind her, and she's like, Oh, I'ma kick y'all's asses. It was so funny, but yeah, that's that was my favorite episode. Oh my god.

SPEAKER_01

It was crazy.

SPEAKER_02

Can we bring MTV back? I like to watch Cribs and Punk. There's so many things I'd like to watch.

SPEAKER_01

I know. Why do so many shows get cancelled? Well, they just canceled ridiculously.

SPEAKER_02

I saw that. I know you were upset.

SPEAKER_01

I do love that show. I mean, I do feel like it had run its course. It was on like a long time. I don't even know. It was on a long time. I mean, but they still did a good job. I mean, you couldn't not laugh. Although there were some times there were videos that I was like, oh, I'm not sure. It's just a little overforce. I'm not sure if that was. Did they survive that? Maybe we shouldn't have shown that one. Right.

SPEAKER_02

If there's a fatality, let's not show that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. And Rob's always like, on this show, everybody lives. Even though he doesn't know. That way you know. But there were some that were wild 100%. But he's just naturally funny. So it really and he had a good banter.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. And if you guys watch Traiters, which I'm a huge Trader fan.

SPEAKER_00

Love Trader.

SPEAKER_02

Love Traders. A lot of those um people on Traders either came from Survivor, Real World. Oh, Real World's old. Yeah, they had some people from Real World from Road Rules on there, like went way back. And then there's like um what's the uh what's oh Brig Big Brother, your show? Oh, I love Big Brother. Yeah. All of those people.

SPEAKER_01

The Be Big Brother season, it's summer. Yeah, and then the summer show. All of the housewives is like three nights a week.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. I love when all of the housewives band together, but they only band together when someone says they're gonna take a housewife out. Then they're all like, oh no, you cannot come after us. We'll come after you. That's my favorite.

SPEAKER_01

But then they'll take each other out in a second.

SPEAKER_02

In a second, but you can't take us out, but we can take each other out.

SPEAKER_01

Right? That's the rules. That's gotta be my idea.

SPEAKER_02

That's the rules. Hello, love it. Okay, sorry guys, we got on a tangent.

SPEAKER_01

Um so many good shows. But anyway, yeah. Um, so just be careful out there again. Facebook and on the road. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Both of our new updates.

SPEAKER_01

Those are our updates. Those are our 100% updates to keep you alert and aware.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, and safe out there. Yes, so yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Because it's crazy.

SPEAKER_02

It is crazy.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. Anything can happen at any time. But anyway, graduation.

SPEAKER_02

Graduation season, yay! I don't know about y'all, but I love graduation. I love a good quick graduation. I don't want to be in this bitch all day, okay? I um watched one recently, and it was so many speakers before we got to the students. Like, we're not here for all of y'all to tell us your life story. We just want to hear the name, do our little song and dance, and get to the parties afterwards.

SPEAKER_01

So it's interesting. Like, I love the pomp and circumstance. Like, I feel like that song just makes me feel accomplished.

SPEAKER_02

It right, because it's like, oh shit.

SPEAKER_01

Like, even when it's not my graduation, yeah. Because I work in higher education, so I go to a graduation every year because I have to. Did you guys have two or one? We well, so uh our college has two. We only are required to go to one. Okay. Um you go to the one in May. That's no, they have two on the same day. Oh shit. We only do it once a year, but then they break it because we have five campuses. Oh, I forgot about that.

SPEAKER_02

So you I thought your campus only did your graduation and vice versa. Like everyone does their own graduation. No, that's a long day.

SPEAKER_01

Well, so they broke it into two, okay, and that helped. That really did help. Um, so you could choose afternoon or evening. Sure. Um, but yes, every time I hear that song, I feel it makes me happy. It makes me feel accomplished, even though I'm not graduating. It makes me feel like pride and proud and just all the things.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, no, I agree with you 100%. I like when you're lined up when we when it is our graduation, because Sam and I have had several, um, but when it is our graduation, when you're lined up and then they're like cue the music, and then everybody starts walking, and it's like, oh, here we go. Oh, it's so such a good time. Yes. I mean, it's just it's a big day. I mean, you gotta think about it. You work your ass off to get to that achievement, you know.

SPEAKER_01

Well, and I think so many, you know, it's interesting because at ours, um the chancellor talked a lot about she was like, stand up if you are a first-time college graduate. Stand up if you are a parent or step parent who just finished your degree stand up, if you worked full-time for this degree stand-up, if I mean like the list goes on and on and on about all the very specific challenges, 100% not just education that a lot of these students had in life to get here. Yeah, so um, that's really awesome. And we actually had um not for my program, but just college-wise, we had, and it was kind of uh very tearful, and people were crying, but an 80-year-old graduate.

SPEAKER_02

I love that! Yes, that's what it was when we saw the graduation. I think they were 80 or 84. It was just amazing. I would have had them perching right next to me, like, come on, Pearl. It's me and you, boo. You're gonna be with me this whole trip so we can take pictures and stuff. Like, that is so cool.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he I love that. He was he was so sweet. That is so precious. Um, but so I agree. The speakers, we you know, ours didn't have too many speakers, which was I think two. One was a student. Okay, I like that, and then one was um maybe a board member or somebody. I'll allow it. And then um and then they do an award to like an alumni. So like somebody who has graduated from the college and has really done something successful in the community. No, that needs to be separate. Bring them back and give them an award, which it was fine. They did that, but it didn't last, it wasn't that long. Okay, they had like pre-made like a video telling their story, so they just played that and then they gave them the award, and then that was it.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, that's quick and easy.

SPEAKER_01

So, yeah, it wasn't bad. Um, really, what takes so long is reading all the names.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, here's the thing before we get to super long reading the names, right? Okay, this is my thing, guys. So the one graduation that I watched, um, and I'm such an asshole sometimes, so I'll go ahead and put that out there, but they finally got to one of the guest speakers after the person got up and talked about the school and their programs and all of that, and um introduced the president, and then the president introduced a guest speaker. Y'all, they said that the guest speaker was someone that had graduated from the school in 1972. I was like, oh god. I was like, could they not find anybody in the last five years? Like 1972. But you guys, it turned out to be um the guy that was the CEO of Footwalker. That's why they picked it. Yes, he's very accomplished, very big success.

SPEAKER_01

Success story.

SPEAKER_02

100%. I mean, it was great. I was really happy that I paid attention and kept watching. But his story was awesome. He said he was not a good student, he was a good basketball player, but um he got up there and kind of walked them through all of the things that he had done with Footlocker, him and his family had even moved overseas so he could work in Germany. Like it was amazing. But he was basically telling them like life's gonna have twists and turns, sometimes just saying yes can really change your life. And I was like, that's so inspiring. So they did good with who they picked, and his stories were very funny. So I think it kept the students engaged, so that was really good.

SPEAKER_01

Our college uh the way they picked a student is you they uh if you were a first-time graduate for your family and you were interested, then you could submit an interest form, and then you had to record like a video, a video, and then they picked a few and they had one who uh spoke at the afternoon one, one who spoke at the evening one. So they put two different people, and um yeah, that was cool. And this year it happened to be one of the students who graduated from our program, which was really cool. That was very cool. Oh I love that, and she did an amazing job. I was very impressed, but like it's so that's I don't know how they pick the other person who talks.

SPEAKER_02

It's so many people that talk, even even like you said, there's a board of trustees that gets up and speak. Like, do all of these people really need to speak? No, we can go ahead and shut it down to just introducing the president, the president, and then the person that's doing the names. Let's get up there and do our thing. The names, yeah. The names take a long take a long time. But the thing I do like that they've started to do, and they did this when I graduated from Wichita State, is where they asked you before they say your name. Because guys, when we were in high school, I was selected to get up and say the national anthem, and our um principal said my name wrong, and the whole school colour corrected him out loud. They were like, It's he said Mia Williams, and they were like, It's Maya. So just to avoid that, I'm glad that we can tell them verbally, it's Maya. Yep, and then you just walk across the taste, they say it correctly.

SPEAKER_01

At the end of the national anthem this year in previous years, they always um have something to say, they don't the end, the home of the is never brave. They they all yell chiefs at the graduation. Forgot where you're at. Sorry. That's why I was like, what did I say? Yeah, well, that's unique. It's unique, yep. Yeah, that happens. Okay, whatever works. You know, every year it kind of takes me by surprise. You're like, whoa. I I wasn't expecting it, but it happens every year. I don't know why I'm not I should not be surprised at this point. But yeah, no, I think that's important. One year at our graduation, we had um a machine that they had a card, and they would put the card in the machine and it would say your name. Did it say it correctly? Um, I think it did for most people, but I think it quit working partway.

SPEAKER_02

Girl stop, they forgot to plug it in. I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

It was there one year and it has never been back.

SPEAKER_02

Well, it's probably for the best because somebody had to get up and do the announcement anyway.

SPEAKER_01

So this name reader machine, but it has not been back since.

SPEAKER_02

I've never heard of that year.

SPEAKER_01

I've never heard no, it was crazy.

SPEAKER_02

I'm gonna look it up.

SPEAKER_01

It was like shoo, shoo.

SPEAKER_02

You guys, if I find it, I'm gonna post it on the Instagram page and name reader machine for graduation.

SPEAKER_01

It it happened. Interesting, but now it was a real real people this year. Um, that's important. Yeah, and at the beginning they say, hold your applause till at the end, and then the chancellor says, I wasn't born yesterday and are you're not going to, but please be mindful so other people can hear their names. Yeah, and that's good to say, you know, that's good to say.

SPEAKER_02

There's nothing wrong with that. But yeah, I feel like once we get to the stage, once we get all the students seated, I feel like we could streamline that a little bit because you're right, it is the names that take forever. If you have 500 people that graduate for your program, every single one of their names gets read. Um, and graduation is one of those things, not like a wedding, where you can expect only 75% to show up. It's gonna be a good 98% of the people are gonna be there. So it's definitely gonna be that's the longest part, I feel like.

SPEAKER_01

It is, and I guess everybody, I mean, it's it's I have like a love-hate relationship with it because I think it is so meaningful when it's you and they read your name and you walk to the stage and then stop in the middle and take your picture and then finish walking across. Um but I'm also like, man, do they want do they care enough that it should take this much time?

SPEAKER_02

I mean, what is the you know, like what would be your solution in your perfect world?

SPEAKER_01

I don't have a solution. I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I don't.

SPEAKER_01

Um I'm trying to think how I felt. Like at my graduations, did I really care if my name was read like at that moment when I walked across? I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

Well, from your KU grad, you guys didn't do names because it's way too many damn students. Oh no, and it's just but I mean, if you guys have ever been to a KU graduation, it is a circus, period. A good time. If you are interested, check one out. But all the students walk down the hill and then they walk across the football field. And I mean, it is crazy. When my brother and my sister-in-law graduated from KU, there were kids walking on stilts, there were people running with the Puerto Rican flag down the um down the uh well beforehand.

SPEAKER_01

Everybody's up on like Jayhawk Boulevard, like drinking and partying doing their thing, you guys on their way down the hill. Like it is it is a huge like block party.

SPEAKER_02

Speaking of this, we're gonna get to this in a little bit more detail, but this is the perfect time for me to inform you guys. At that time, there were some girls that had bikinis underneath their robes and they had the robes open. I mean, my parents and my grandparents were just like, what is going on? They were hot. Those gowns are hot. Yeah, my brother and his wife are dressed in their Sundays best, you know. Um, but yeah, it it is something for sure. So you don't get your name called then, but I mean, it's so many people you can expect that.

SPEAKER_01

But I don't feel like it loses any of the specialness. No, not at all. Like, do we Do you have to do it? Yeah. And then if they say it wrong, it just makes it like, well. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

That's why you gotta say it. Not to the machine, but to a real person. My name is Maya.

SPEAKER_01

If they hear it right, yeah. Sometimes they still can't say it right.

SPEAKER_02

But um, I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know. I don't have the right answer.

unknown

We don't.

SPEAKER_02

We're not sure, guys. But I personally I do like when they call the names. I just think we need to cut the beginning down a little bit because we've got 500 names to call. So I feel like if we cut the beginning down, just introduce the president. The president says a little spill. And if you have a guest speaker, cut cut them down to maybe seven minutes. Seven minutes too long.

SPEAKER_01

No.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, seven minutes in and out. And then we start the names. I think that would make it not so long. And we keep the audience engaged.

SPEAKER_01

And we don't need a million speakers. That's what I'm saying.

SPEAKER_02

It's too many.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So if we cut that down. We just need to cut that beginning down and then the end the name to it will be longer.

SPEAKER_01

The filing in and filing out is it takes 20 minutes.

SPEAKER_02

Right. Depending on how big your faculty is, yeah. Yeah. It really can.

SPEAKER_01

But um also we have the mortar board. So the mortarboards, I have a few things I want to talk about. The mortarboard.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, tell us what's going on.

SPEAKER_01

The first one is moving the tassel. So this year they forgot that they didn't have them move their tassel over as a group.

SPEAKER_02

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Do they not do that anymore? They don't tell them you may now move your tassel. I thought they did, but they didn't at ours, and we like me and the other faculty are like, uh Are we gonna tell them? Nobody did. Maybe they don't do that.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, they love that. That's the biggest part.

SPEAKER_01

But to me, I feel like moving the tassel is like that moment of establishment. I'm done on the other side. Like, you know, like I don't know. I like that.

SPEAKER_02

I love throwing the hat, but girl, we ain't throwing it too high because I done paid for this shit. So it's not going too high.

SPEAKER_01

I like the moving of the tassel. Okay, because that's your. I feel like it's very definitive, and you get to do it. Yeah. So it's very um I don't know. It's just but maybe they're not doing that anymore. Maybe they are just throwing the hats up. I can't imagine they're not doing that. But they didn't. They didn't do it at this graduation. They did do the hat throw. Yeah. But some people like have their head all pinned to their head. Right. And like you said, and some people really decorate their mortar boards. Like I have seen some crazy bedazzles, probably weighs like 20 pounds mortarboards. Yes. That they spent some time on it.

SPEAKER_02

They don't play with it.

SPEAKER_01

Nobody wants to throw that. First of all, it could be a weapon. And second of all, you want it back.

SPEAKER_02

That's what I said, y'all. Mine was not even decorated, and I didn't whoop just a little whoop. That's all we did. Could I need to get this back? Could I pay too much money for this? But it's mainly, well, especially for where you work at, mainly people in the healthcare world, nurses, the whole nursing program does all of their mortarboards. Um, which I think is really cool. I like to read the mortarboards, I think they make it interesting to see when people walk through as they file in. I think that's pretty cool. Um, but you're right, some of them have like statues on them that they've hot glued on there, roses hot glued on there, glitter.

SPEAKER_01

And like they'll make put sayings on there.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, they do do sayings, or they'll dedicate it to somebody 100%. Or Mama did it. I like that one.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. Yeah, there's some really creative, very cool mortarboards that they should keep and like frame in a shadow box. Yeah. Pretty cool.

SPEAKER_02

I think that is a really cool thing.

SPEAKER_01

So I get not wanting to throw it. So yes, you could just like toss a little bit.

SPEAKER_02

Shake it a little bit or something.

SPEAKER_01

Like I said, mine was just a quick But some people can't get them off their head either.

SPEAKER_02

No, you're not throwing it at that point. You're just helping your friend throw there. Like, oh, good job. We did it. Right.

SPEAKER_01

But they didn't move the tassel, so I was like, oh.

SPEAKER_02

Did you ever decorate any of your mortar boards? I don't think I did. Yeah, I'm not creative like that. That was never part of my.

SPEAKER_01

I feel like I should have, but no, I didn't. I was yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Do you think your kids will?

SPEAKER_01

Probably.

SPEAKER_02

Uh definitely your middle. Definitely.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, probably they will. I might encourage it. We'll have plenty of plenty of leftover rhinestones for her to use.

SPEAKER_02

That way we can find her. Oh, there she goes. That's her. That's her right there.

SPEAKER_01

That's it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so there you go. That'll be really cool.

SPEAKER_01

But yeah, I think they will decorate and that'll be. I wonder if anybody's ever been like really hurt by a hat hitting them.

SPEAKER_02

That's a good question.

SPEAKER_01

I've never heard of it.

SPEAKER_02

Me either. We might look at Reddit. We'll get back to y'all on that. Reddit'll have some stories if they did. But probably not. Like I said, those people that worked hard, a lot of them are pinned to their head. They're not taking them off.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I know. Yeah. So I know. They are always awkward. Just to even get to the house. They're just hard to get on. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

They're hard to get on.

SPEAKER_01

They're very awkward. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I think the mortarboards are awkward, but I love our hats from our doctoral program. The little tams. Those are my favorites. Tams are fun.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. Mine lays like a little beret.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, mine is too. Well, it's it's kind of more like a one of those little Scottish hats.

SPEAKER_01

Old painter. Exactly. Ancient painter.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's exactly what we look like.

SPEAKER_01

If I was gonna sit on your head better, but you don't throw hats at those for that.

SPEAKER_02

No, no, you we're too distinguished. We're not throwing no hat. We're not moving a tassel. We're not doing any of that. You can't move the tassel. It is what it is. All you do is just stand up, get your name called, and keep it moving. Yeah. Well, did you get um for academia? Did you get an upgraded rope? Yes. When you started your job? Yeah. I would that's what I was gonna do if I would have stayed in higher ed. I was gonna get one with pockets. Like I had a whole plan.

SPEAKER_01

I don't mine doesn't have pockets.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, okay.

SPEAKER_01

It just has like the velvet.

SPEAKER_02

You need pockets. I know. Yeah. We'll need to work on that.

SPEAKER_01

Mine doesn't have pockets.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, we'll we'll talk to somebody about that, guys, and get Sam some pockets that's necessary. Maybe.

SPEAKER_01

Alright, so what do you wear under this robe that we're talking about?

SPEAKER_02

Okay, good question. Well, I thought you dressed really cute for your master's program. Sam had this cute dress on you guys. It had like pink in it. She had on some little pink, some little pink heels, and that's what she said.

SPEAKER_01

The shoes matter because they're what you see.

SPEAKER_02

What is it now?

SPEAKER_01

The shoes matter because that's what you see.

SPEAKER_02

100%. But y'all, again, remember I said if we were walking down the hill?

SPEAKER_01

Fair. Yeah. You gotta be able to walk and not roll your ankle.

SPEAKER_02

She did it. She did it. She was fine. But yeah, I I I don't know. I'm I think swimsuits have gone a little far.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, I know, but like I the more I get to it, the more I'm like, well, you should be comfortable under that gown. If you're going to the beach, we're not going to the beach, we're going to graduate. I'm not saying that that's comfortable. I'm just in general, like dressing up up.

SPEAKER_02

No, it's too hot. Is kind of like And those robes are hot. It's black. All the robes are always, always black. It's too hot. And if you have a ceremony like the one I just told you about, where you're sitting in the blue, I mean, going down a hill, walking down a football field, like and you're up there, like just partying it up before you for like an hour at least before you walk down the hill.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, you have to get there early because parking.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Put on your enclouds and let's roll.

SPEAKER_01

Right? But those don't look cute under the gown. I I'm telling you, the shoes I see, like people, that is like the statement of graduation is what shoes at least for girls. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

100% for girls. That's true.

SPEAKER_01

They and shoes are where it's at because that's what shows.

SPEAKER_02

That's what shows. And when they unzip their outfit their robe, that's where you can see the whole getup. But yeah. Yeah. I don't I think I dressed up for I think I dressed up for all of my. Me too. That's just what we did. And you're gonna take pictures.

SPEAKER_01

Generationally, it's all changing. Yeah. I'm not sure everybody dresses up. Although I do think when I look back to like this most recent graduation, the students from our program, I think everybody was dressed up.

SPEAKER_02

Nice.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, one of them had like a bow tie. Oh, one of the guys, I loved it. And you could see it about the role. It was so cool. He looked so good. Um, yeah, and the girls were wearing dresses. Yeah. Yeah. No, everybody was pretty dressed up. So maybe it hasn't died yet.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, hopefully not. Are you gonna make your kids dress up or recommend it? I should say. I'm sure they'll have whatever the trend is that they want to do that's very true. At that time, yeah, so we'll see. It will not be swimming such though, right?

SPEAKER_01

No, and even looking at a lot of the seniors this year that I've seen on you know social media that have graduated, most of them are dressed up.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, have on a dress, they look really cute. The guys at least wear like khaki shorts, you know, and a button-down. So I think that's really cool. But yeah, I mean, I think it really depends on what are we doing, right? Are we gonna have this long ass walk? If that's the case, I might change my shoes and then put on different shoes afterwards. I think that that's how I would look at it. Like, it's tricky. Where what are we doing? Where are we going? So um I that's what I'm thinking.

SPEAKER_01

But there's so many photos, like so many photos. Or a lot of pictures. So you have to look nice.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, they last forever. I just found some pictures of Sam from her master's program that I sent to her. She was like, Where'd you get these from? I was like, I took them. Where did that come from? Oh my gosh, that was so long ago. It was a long time ago. But hey, we made it. We made it. That's all that mattered. We made it, so that's good. Nothing wrong with that. But yeah, I think the kids are still kind of dressing decent and we're taking pictures afterwards and doing their things. I think that's really cool.

SPEAKER_01

It is, it is such a happy time. You gotta and a big achievement. Big achievement, happy time. It's important that you dress for the moment. Yeah. I agree with you. I'm not sure because then I don't want a bunch of pictures in a bikini either.

SPEAKER_02

No, we're not going to the beach. You're coming right home.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe they were. Maybe they were getting on a plane and going to the beach.

SPEAKER_02

You still need to wear some clothes to TSA. Put on your little dainty dukes and your tank top. Let's roll.

SPEAKER_01

Very true. That's what I think. For sure. Alright, so once graduation's over, then what do we do?

SPEAKER_02

After parties.

SPEAKER_01

After parties. So I mean, I was trying to remember. I honestly I don't remember a lot of my parties. Um but I had them.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. But they were small. It was mostly family and like close friends. Sure. It wasn't like a bigger deal. Where I feel like in high school, like you invite everybody. Like you invite all your friends, you invite like everybody and have like a big party. Right. My neighbor had uh he has a senior this year, and he was graduating and they had a big party, and my husband was like, Oh, I don't want my kids to see this. I hope this doesn't mean this is what their expectations are when they graduate.

SPEAKER_02

Was it that big?

SPEAKER_01

I guess he had a big tent and it was like catered, and they have they did like the pictures of like every year from kindergarten to senior year that they hummed. What? Not an only child. Actually, there's four of them. Wow.

SPEAKER_02

Um and this is dedication from the parent.

SPEAKER_01

That's why Eric's like, I'm impressed.

SPEAKER_02

I'm not, I don't we we won't be doing any of this.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, no, so I was uh sadly I wasn't in town during this party, so he had to go on his own. But he was like, I don't want them to see that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's crazy. But so cool though, right?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it was like a whole thing, and he'll like mow his yard so it's like a soccer field, or like so it's like the lines of a soccer field where it's mowed so it looks like it's outlined, so if they want to play. That's cool. He does all sorts of these are different type of parents.

SPEAKER_02

They go all out, they're creative, mowing a soccer field. No, Eric did not have the patience. He would be like, Oh, I'm not doing that. I mean make your own damn soccer field.

SPEAKER_01

We'll want to probably do that anyway. Exactly, yeah. No, but I think like I think back to like when I graduated with my doctorate degree, we did our party at like a like a park, like a park um like pavilion that you rent that's just outside as picnic tables, and you just bring food and drink and hang out and play music.

SPEAKER_02

Is that what we did? All I remember for that graduation when we went to the ceremony. Was it that one or the other one?

SPEAKER_01

Okay, because I did it with Kim. Like because we were the same. That's right. That's okay. I remember it now. Okay. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. And it was just like at a outdoor just hang out. Yeah, which I kinda like because then I'm like, I don't have to clean my house, I don't have to have a pupil in my house. We just come here and do our thing, you can bring everything, you can decorate some and then you're done.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So I don't know what the big trends are now.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I don't know either. Well, I know I I think for high school, I think we are all just house hopping, right? Like because all of us graduated at the same time, so it's like so-and-so's parties on Thursday, so-and-so's parties on Sunday, so we just go to as many as we could. I don't remember us having a party.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I think it's so hard because everything overlaps and then like you don't have, yeah, it's very expensive.

SPEAKER_02

It's expensive, so it's better just to go to somebody else's party and we all celebrate together. And then when I graduated with my bachelor's, my aunt had graduated with me, and so we had a family party at my aunt and uncle's house, and you guys, it's so funny, they are so precious. They got one of those big signs. You know how you have a sign and it has the arrow, letting you know, like, this is the barber shop, and we've got specials today. So they got one of those signs, but my aunt spelled my name wrong. Oh no, I've been her niece my whole life. Girl, right? Did she spell my name wrong? And then she's mad at my parents saying they spelled it wrong. Oh my goodness. It was so funny. Um, but they did get it corrected, so thank God for that. But we had a small party at their house, and then with my masters, I had a small party at my apartment that I had at the time. Um, and way too many tequila shots were taken. Um way too much queso from on the border was consumed. Um, and then later on that summer, me and my cousins all had a party together because they had graduated as well at my parents' house. And we had it was like a family reunion, you guys. It was so many people that came. It was awesome. Sam and Eric and her dad came. That's where Sam got that good mac and cheese for the first time. Um, and we had margarita machines, like my parents, like whatever we wished they made it happen. It was awesome. They had put our picture in the newspaper, like a picture of us from when we were little, um, and then just said congratulations. It was so freaking cool. But yeah, that's my favorite graduation for sure. And then with my doc, um like Sam just had something basic at my apartment and had friends and family there. We got Oklahoma shows to eat on, and the afternoon was everyone taking a nap.

SPEAKER_01

So right, you get to that age, it's like we're done here, we're done again.

SPEAKER_02

Too much tequila. Too much tequila again. But hey, you can't go wrong there. But those are all great memories, so I don't know. I think the kids are still having parties, but I think it's probably more.

SPEAKER_01

I know my oldest got invited to a lot.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, really?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, a lot of graduation parties. Yeah. So, and I don't know what the kids do.

SPEAKER_02

Like, do they just show up and be like, hi, yeah, take pictures and leave? Yeah, very possible. I don't know. I like the ones that wait until later in the summer to have it because then the polls open, so then everybody has something to do. Yeah, yeah, that's kind of cool.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, all the graduations aren't even done yet. Like, there's still some happening this next week.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, really? Mm-hmm. Wow.

SPEAKER_01

But I think because the the high area high schools are so many, yeah, they have to try to like space them out a little bit diagram a little bit so that if you have kids at multi different high schools, not yourself, but maybe you have nieces and nephews or yeah, you know, whatever that you can attend.

SPEAKER_02

Attend if you can.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

That's really cool. So, yeah, I think that's all I remember.

SPEAKER_01

So, what was your favorite gift?

SPEAKER_02

Oh, money all day.

SPEAKER_01

Right? That's what we gave our neighbor.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, money is the cash is king still. Um, it's a good money.

SPEAKER_01

For the high schoolers, like they're going off to college. Yeah, they're gonna need money.

SPEAKER_02

Or if they're just staying and working, maybe they're trying to save for a car, you know, like all of that. Yes, guys, cash is definitely king always. And that's all we have for you guys today. Thank you so much for your support and donation.
