Does Class Matter?
In today's episode we talk about what inspired Professor Sigamoney Naicker to write his book "Education and the Working Class: Is There Hope for an Inclusive Approach?"
Ultimately, Professor Naicker was inspired by his own experience trying to get an education while growing up among the working class. He saw education as hope that he, too, could suceed.
However, it became very obvious that the education system was not set up with this goal in mind. Rather it was set up with the goal in mind of selecting the best students and rejecting the rest.
But, as Professor Naicker often says, "Education should be about love and humanity. It should be about respecting diversity. It should be called 'Educare' instead of Education."
Join us today and begin your journey exploring the impact of socioeconomic status on education and what education should be focused on!
