Hi, I'm The Owen and I'm co-host of the Young Leaders of Tomorrow. Today will be a mini interview with Onyx Animations, who creates the mini animations for our Instagram and makes some cover art for our episodes. They're also a close friend of mine that works tirelessly on their animations and are easily one of the most talented people I know. Hi, I'm Onyx Animation Productions. I've been animating for about one year now and I've been really enjoying it so far. Uh yeah. Nice. What things do you like to animate? Well, I I really like animating short and goofy stories about like my friends or my dog Daisy, but I do really hope to create longer, more complex animations in the future, especially now that with my art I've taken the time to learn some anatomy and color theory. Tell me about the process you go through when animating. Well, animating can be especially frustrating. You have to like really love your idea for your end product because you're gonna spend days working on it and working for it. Uh, it's really easy to get discouraged or distracted after hours of drawing uh essentially the same things each day, but it's all gonna be worth it in the end when you get your finished product. Alright. You pursue artistic projects instead of STEM ones like most young achievers do. Tell us about that. Yeah, yeah. Uh contrary to the stereotypes about those who pursue art, I've always had good grades. I've always enjoyed learning about STEM topics. Uh I've been told before that I'm wasting my skills and hard work by pursuing art, but I'm really not. I'm still working hard, I'm still learning, and I'm still putting so much effort into my work. I've learned that it's completely okay to start pursue less sought-out subjects like animation as long as you put all your effort into it. Thank you. And how have you dealt with people not believing in you? Uh, it's been hard hearing the discouragement from others, but in order to push past that, uh you have to learn how to motivate yourself by yourself. You have to be able to compliment and support yourself without anyone else so that regardless of what other people say, you'll keep working hard. Alright, and what are your aspirations for what your animations will become one day? Uh I hope that one day that I'd get to pursue animation as my career and to and join an ambitious animation team and probably also start some side projects on my own, like short films or series outside of my job. Uh yeah. Alright, thank you so much for joining us today. I hope their hard work has inspired anyone listening. Until next time on the Young Leaders of Tomorrow.
