E7: Beyond Probiotics: Reclaiming Your Health With Innate Origins Wellness

Leila Carter & Celina Nemec Episode 7

What makes Celina Nemec with Innate Origins Wellness a good neighbor?

Ever wondered if there's more to gut health than just popping probiotics? Wellness coach Celina Nemec certainly thinks so. After facing her own devastating health crisis that left medical professionals stumped, Selena embarked on a journey of discovery that transformed not only her own life but now helps countless others reclaim their wellbeing.

Celina's approach to wellness coaching through her company Innate Origins Wellness centers around two critical but often overlooked aspects of health: comprehensive gut healing and effective detoxification. "The toxins in this world are just ever increasing and we're seeing so many issues with health from that toxicity," she explains, highlighting why her personalized coaching methods go far beyond the one-size-fits-all solutions that failed her during her own health struggles.

As a 34-year-old mother of two young children, Celina brings authenticity to her coaching that resonates deeply with clients navigating similar life challenges. Her personal journey took an even more profound turn when tragedy struck – losing both her father and brother to cancer within two weeks of each other while caring for a newborn baby. This heartbreaking experience has fueled her passion for helping cancer patients and her goal to become a certified cancer coach. Between beach vacations that ground her family, hula hooping for stress relief, and continuous learning to better serve her clients, Selena embodies the balanced approach to wellness she teaches.

Speaker 1:

This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Lila Carter.

Speaker 2:

Welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast. Are you in need of a health and wellness coach? One might be closer than you think. Today, I have the pleasure of introducing your good neighbor, selena Nemec, with Innate Origins Wellness. Selena, how's it going?

Speaker 3:

It's going great how?

Speaker 2:

are you? I'm well. Thank you so much. We're excited to learn all about you and your business. Tell us about your company.

Speaker 3:

So I am a health and wellness coach. I reached to this journey through my own health and wellness issues, which I think most people usually come from that background, unfortunately. But all that matters is that we've reached that road. So I have a very, very strong passion about gut health, because that was part of my story, and also detoxification, because the toxins in this world are just ever increasing and we're seeing so many issues with health from that toxicity. So I'm really, really passionate about focusing on those two things but you know I can help with a lot of other things as well, but that's really my two main focuses.

Speaker 2:

Awesome. So how did you get into this business?

Speaker 3:

So, as I mentioned, I had my own journey of health issues. I had a lot of gut issues. I was in school to become a nurse and you know, working multiple jobs and, just you know, not taking good care of myself, and lo and behold, you know, your body starts to run down, as a lot of us find out, sometimes the hard way. So I ended up in the hospital in and out for a while, lost a bunch of weight, couldn't eat right, wasn't getting answers from the medical community, at least at the pace at which I thought was helpful, and was still really struggling. So we actually ended up moving and in my new environment I just discovered there was other options and ways to work with what I had. Going on, and lo and behold, here I am Now I'm teaching other people how to do it and it's just been really wonderful.

Speaker 2:

Awesome. I love how your business kind of stemmed out of your story of discovery and working through your own personal health concerns. That's awesome. So what are some myths or misconceptions in your industry.

Speaker 3:

You know, again, I'll link this back to gut health. I just find that, you know, people usually focus on one thing when they hear the term gut health, a lot of people will say, oh well, I take probiotics. And you know, when I hear people say that, sometimes I kind of cringe because I think, oh my gosh, there's so much more to it than that. So I'd say, you know, we could maybe consider that a myth or a misconception, that just taking probiotics is going to benefit your gut health. And that's one of the things that I really dive into with my clients and I teach them all the different aspects that there are of gut health and how we can improve it and make it better and how we can improve it and make it better.

Speaker 2:

Nice. So, whenever you are marketing to these different customer bases, who are your target customers and how do you attract them?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, so I really can work with people of all ages. You know I've worked with infants. I've worked with children, I've worked with men and women. Of course I'm going to vibe with and work best with people who are in my you know, similar situation. I'm a young mom. I'm 34 years old. I have two young children, ages four and seven. I'm trying to find work-life balance. You know going to sporting events. You know trying to juggle, you know making dinner and working and keeping the kids happy and keeping myself happy and my husband happy. So really, you know, people that are in that realm are going to mesh well with me. But other women ages 18 to 55 would be great. But again, you know, outside of that I definitely am able to help.

Speaker 2:

in any case, Very nice, so sounds like you have a lot of information to share. Have you ever thought about doing your own podcast?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, absolutely yeah, I think that would be great.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, very informative. So outside of work, what do you do for fun?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, very informative. So outside of work, what do you do for fun? Well, I love being outdoors. I'm an outdoors kind of person. I love being near the water. Our family's favorite vacation is going to the ocean. It just is really grounding for us. The kids have a blast, we have a blast. You know the second that I step foot in front of that ocean blast, you know the second that I step foot in front of that ocean, I just feel like all my stress melts away. So that would be really big for us.

Speaker 3:

But you know I enjoy reading. I don't usually do casual reading. Usually I'm reading to learn just what I do. I'm just always trying to be up on the next thing to better help my clients. But I do still enjoy it and I love learning and, of course, spending time with my kids and my husband. We like to camp. I am still into doing some hula hooping. It's something I used to do when I was younger, but I do it because it keeps me fit and it helps relieve stress as well. So do a little bit of everything, but those are some of the main things that we really focus on.

Speaker 2:

So the ultimate vacation would be hula hooping and reading on the beach with your family.

Speaker 3:

Yes, fantastic Dream vacation.

Speaker 2:

All right, so let's switch gears. Can you describe a hardship or a life challenge that you overcame and how it made you stronger? What comes to mind?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, absolutely so. I mean there's many, including my own health challenges, but I would say that more recently, a little over four years ago, I lost my father and my brother both to cancer. I lost my father and my brother both to cancer, and this happened within a short time. They passed within two weeks of each other, and this was all while I had a newborn baby. So my daughter was five days old when my dad had a stroke, and that was, you know, a different side than the cancer.

Speaker 3:

You know he had some cardiovascular issues as well. You know a different side than the cancer. You know he had some cardiovascular issues as well. But taking care of them both simultaneously and having an infant definitely taught me a lot of things, and it also taught me a lot about compassion and caring for people in those situations. So helping people that do have cancer diagnosis is something very near and dear to my heart, and I do intend to at one point become a certified cancer coach so that I can have even more knowledge and be able to better support people in that area as well.

Speaker 2:

Wow, that's amazing that story, and just how much strength you had to probably have, you know, dealing with all that while you have a newborn too. I can only imagine. So, selena, please tell our listeners one thing they should remember about innate origins wellness.

Speaker 3:
