E24: Butt Naked's Vegan Spa Solutions for Face and Waist
What makes Wendy Neely with Butt Naked a good neighbor?
Forget everything you thought you knew about wellness spas. Wendy Neely's Butt Naked in McCandless Township isn't just another trendy self-care spot—it's a revolution in how we approach our bodies.
With their playful tagline, "Whether it's your face or your waist, we've got you covered," Wendy and her team have spent over a decade pioneering vegan, organic approaches to beauty and wellness that work with your body's natural processes rather than against them. The results speak for themselves: from EU-compliant skincare that delivers actual results, to cryo facials that offer a needle-free alternative to Botox, Butt Naked is changing how people feel about their reflection.
What sets this wellness sanctuary apart is Wendy's 30 years of experience and her refreshingly rational approach to body image. She dismantles toxic relationships with food with blatant honesty, teaches clients to navigate social situations without anxiety, and offers eight different spa services—including non-invasive body contouring, infrared saunas that burn 600 calories per session, and Pittsburgh's only private Himalayan salt room. The philosophy here isn't about quick fixes or unsustainable diets; it's about consistency, understanding your unique body, and making peace with the mirror. As Wendy powerfully states, "The body that you're in doesn't have to be the body that you continue to live in," and she proves it's possible to transform without chemicals or extreme measures.
Ready to experience what could be Pittsburgh's best-kept wellness secret? Find Butt Naked on social media, visit their newly redesigned website to shop their skincare line worldwide, or simply stop by their McCandless location. Your face, your waist—and your whole self—will thank you for it.

This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Lila Carter.
Speaker 2:Welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast. Are you in need of a vegan, organic body spa? One might be closer than you think. Today I have the pleasure of introducing your good neighbor, Wendy Neely. With Butt Naked. Wendy, how's it going?
Speaker 3:Hi, I'm doing great. How are you doing this morning?
Speaker 2:Excellent. Thank you so much. We're excited to learn all about you and your business, so tell us about your company, yeah.
Speaker 3:So we're so excited to be able to share this with your community as well. So, butt Naked, pittsburgh has been in the McCandless Township area for over 10 years. We've been providing vegan, organic, different methods to help heal and make people just feel great about themselves. We do have a tagline around here. It's whether it's your face or your waist. We kind of got you covered, and that'll kind of lead me into the spa services that we do provide our community.
Speaker 3:One of the things we like to do is have the body do what it does so naturally itself. When you let it do things that it does naturally and what I mean by that is when you don't interfere with chemicals and yucky foods and preservatives the body has an amazing way of finding its waistline again right. So when we talk about your face, we offer a plethora of different types of organic vegan facials, from a traditional facials all the way up to the most luxury which we do cryo facials, which are instantaneous facelifts. So someone that's looking to stop using Botox or fillers as much, that's a great alternative too. Or if you're just really scared of those but you're starting to see some fine lines and wrinkles and you're wanting to learn how to kind of get rid of those naturally. A cryofacial would be for you.
Speaker 3:We also have a full line of butt naked skincare which is vegan, organic, which we do ship worldwide through our website. It's also EU compliant through the European nations. It's the cleanest thing that you can put on your face. And what's so neat about our skincare line, our specific brand, that it is made here in the United States. It's actually made in New York. It's made in small batch, so what that means? It's more result-based because it's more heavily concentrated than something that you might get in the bigger box stores that you know. We all know the names of those skincare stores that we spend lots and lots of time shopping and trying all these things on our face with no results. All right, wendy. So how'd you get?
Speaker 2:into this business. It's such a unique niche.
Speaker 3:Yeah, so I've been in the weight loss industry for over 30 years. I just celebrated my 30 year anniversary, and so that's all. I just celebrated my 30 year anniversary and so that's all I've done. My whole entire life is helping women find their waistlines again. And then three years ago, after the pandemic, it's kind of where butt naked aesthetics kind of evolved through that process and because we believe that you know, the face is the first thing that you see yourself in the mirror every day, and there's no worse way of starting out the day when you started out with criticism meaning oh my gosh, look at my wrinkles this morning, look at my bags under my eyes, or look at my double chin, or look at my skin, look at my waistline I can't find anything to wear, right? So we really want to help people just love the body that they're in, but give them the best approach to be able to do that naturally.
Speaker 2:I love that you said that it truly is about supporting the well-being and the whole picture of how you feel about yourself no-transcript.
Speaker 3:So some myths are it's kind of an all or nothing approach when it comes to eating a well-balanced food plan. One of the things about butt naked wellness side is that we teach people to stop having a really toxic relationship with foods in our weight loss accountability sessions, meaning that people don't even understand why they're in such bondage to foods and it normally comes from things that have happened in their past or trauma, If food is a real addiction and people can't seem to get rid of the sugars and wanting the cravings all the time. But we help people navigate through that. So a myth is that somebody that has a sugar addiction can never eat a sweet again. Addiction can never eat a sweet again.
Speaker 3:Now you may not be able to have what we call like our three trigger foods, meaning that if like chocolate chip cookies is like a trigger for you, what we mean by that is it's something that you can't just have one serving of. It's like, before you know it, the whole bag of Chips Ahoy is gone or the whole sleeve of Oreos is gone. That may be a trigger food for you, but that does not mean at a birthday party if it's your mom, your grandma, your bestie's birthday that you can't have a piece of birthday cake and still have the waistline you want. So we really try to help people navigate those myths as to I can only eat the keto diet or I can only eat the big box store program, or I have to eat prepackaged food. That's not true or I have to eat prepackaged food. That's not true.
Speaker 3:Where the myths come in is that you have this unrealistic expectation on food and what it means and what it does. How many times do people say oh, I felt like that because I had a social event coming Right. Right, we should be able to navigate a social situation with food, and if you can't, then I would love an introduction to talk to you because I can totally help you with that. That's amazing.
Speaker 2:Yeah, the level of support that you can offer people and kind of tailor it to them individually sounds really special. So who are your target customers? And how are you attracting them to the business?
Speaker 3:Yeah, that's a great question. So our joke around here is whether you have a face or a waist, we are interested in meeting you, and if you know someone with a face or a waist, we'd like to meet them, and so that's kind of just a tagline joke. But our bodies are so unique and so individualized that I feel like a lot of men and women who have been on the weight loss or wellness journey find themselves in a place to go. Hey, you know what? I'm 40 years old. I'm 50 years old. This is, I guess, just the way that I have to be, and that's not true.
Speaker 3:Sometimes our bodies need a little bit of aid and assistance through that wellness journey, and that's why at the spa here, we have eight different spa services whether we need some non-invasive body contouring methods, because some women let's be real you probably weighed the weight that you were very happy with, but you look in the mirror and you're like, yeah, but look at those dangling arms, Look at that hanging stomach I still have.
Speaker 3:So we offer non-invasive body contouring services that you can literally come in for an hour and leave less than what you came. Services that you can literally come in for an hour and leave less than what you came. We also host three different infrared saunas which are great for detoxification. You burn up to 600 calories in that session and you get all those free radicals and toxins out of the body which is preventing that metabolic system from working. We also have Pittsburgh's only private Himalayan salt room, which is like kind of our little secret within the spa, because there's hardly any private salt rooms in Pennsylvania. There's a few group rooms but not private rooms, and then when you go over to the aesthetic side, that's kind of where we take care of your face over there.
Speaker 2:Excellent. So, as you're reaching this target demographic, have you ever thought about doing your own podcast? This target demographic have you ever thought about doing your own podcast? I'm not sure why your audio cut out and your video as well. There we go. It's okay, I'll just edit out that little clip so we can jump right back in. Have you ever thought about doing your own podcast? Here we go. You're you now. Can you hear me?
Speaker 3:all right. If a small call comes in, it's going to bump us off, that's all right, I can just edit out that section of audio for us are we back on? Yes, yep, now we're back on. Sorry about that.
Speaker 2:I guess everybody's calling to schedule an appointment at the moment that's a good problem to have, but maybe not right this second, so we can just pick up where we left off. Have you ever thought about doing your own podcast?
Speaker 3:Yes, I actually have. You know, before the pandemic I used to do a lot of group speakings at businesses or people would come to the spa and we'd have weekly sessions in a group style and I know one of my spiritual gifts is group speaking. So yes, I've thought about that now that we're kind of getting back into the realm of some normalcy within the spa and people are looking for things to do and people love to listen to ways to improve their bodies. That makes logical sense.
Speaker 2:Great Outside of work. What do you do for fun?
Speaker 3:Oh my gosh. Well, I'm really heavily involved in our church, here in our community here in McCandless. I have four daughters, which is super cool. I have two granddaughters as well, five and soon to be three. Her little name is Clementine Blackham. You guys probably have heard of her. She's been all over the news. We're just celebrating her two-year post-bone marrow transplant and we're actually having a big bone and blood marrow drive here in McCandless Township on July 21st. So I spend a lot of time with my family and a lot of times with my Christian community when I'm not at work.
Speaker 2:Oh, congratulations to your family for that. It's amazing. All right, so, wendy, please tell our listeners one thing that they should remember about Butt Naked.
Speaker 3:I think just the name, you know, I think the name is really catchy and kind of a little tongue in cheek to our people. But what I want people to know is that you know the body that you're in doesn't have to be the body that you continue to live in, and that we really get one body to live in. And I think if you can just really take all the emotional stuff out and make it a little bit more logical into the things that you would like to achieve within your body, that we can make that happen and we can make that happen without using chemicals. That's really really important to for our viewers.
Speaker 2:I'm so glad you said that and I think that is a gem, kind of stepping out and making it so personal and just really just kind of looking at it as not a problem to be solved, but something that you're just more aware of what's going on in your body and what you want to achieve. So then you take the logical steps to get there and I feel like you really seem like someone who is willing to support someone holistically in that journey with your vegan approach.
Speaker 3:So I think I've learned a lot in the industry and I I have learned that there's a lot of things that are trending and I don't ever want to be a part of that.
Speaker 3:So our thing is about consistency and kind of what is the need and what are you looking to personally achieve? Right, because we all have a different barometer as far as what we feel is like our main goal, right? So someone that might be postpartum maybe that's just a new mama trying to really just redefine her new role as a mom and a wife and trying to like okay, how do I navigate through my body? Or maybe you're someone that's a little bit more seasoned and you know you're going through that pre or post menopausal and you got that middle, you know, stomach area that is preventing you from really enjoying life because you're so hyper-focused. There's such a wide variety of reasons on why people have weight or body issues, but it doesn't mean that you can't be healed. We just don't know how to do it and we try to use things from our past that maybe we did 20 years ago. I don't know about you, but I know things I did in high school and things that I'm doing now as a 50 year old woman completely different.
Speaker 2:Right, exactly, and it's kind of trying to adjust the sails and navigate those changing times within yourself. You know, and try and see what what's going to work best, you know. So how can our listeners learn more?
Speaker 3:about butt naked? Yeah, that's a great question. So we're very active on all our social platforms. That's a really great way. We just rebranded a new website which is a little bit more user friendly and easy. Our shopping site has been navigated to an easier shopping site as well because, like I did say, we do ship out our vegan, organic, eu compliant skincare worldwide, so that makes it easy. Or, if you're in the McCandless area, we would love for have you just to stop in and say hi and check out the place and we'd love to give you a tour and show you what all we do and then, if that interests you, you can set up a consultation or book a facial or book the private Himalayan salt room. You know, do whatever fills your soul. When you come in and people look at the rooms, they're generally like oh, I like that, and that's how you know that that room is kind of calling them as far as what they need and they don't even know that they need it yet. Oh yeah, very good.
Speaker 2:It's about what resonates with you and it seems like you can kind of satisfy a lot of different markets and different kind of people within your spa. So well, wendy, I really appreciate your time today and having you as a guest on the show. We wish you and your business the best moving forward.
