E27: Problem-Solving Your Vehicle Registration Woes with Ingomar Auto Tags

Leila Carter & Gina Scheller Episode 27

What makes Gina Scheller with Ingomar Auto Tags a good neighbor?

Ever wonder where to go when you need to register or title your vehicle? Gina Scheller from Ingomar Auto Tags joins us to clear up common misconceptions about motor vehicle services in Pennsylvania. Unlike many states with local DMV branches, Pennsylvania's main department is located only in Harrisburg, making motor vehicle agents like Gina essential for handling your vehicle documentation needs.

Gina shares her journey from stay-at-home mom during COVID to becoming a problem-solving expert in the motor vehicle industry. She explains the crucial difference between photo license centers (which only handle driver's licenses) and motor vehicle agents like herself who process all vehicle-related paperwork. This distinction saves Pennsylvania residents unnecessary trips and frustration when dealing with automotive documentation.

What makes Ingomar Auto Tags special is Gina's dedication to solving problems. "I don't necessarily think I've ever turned anybody away," she notes, emphasizing her commitment to helping customers navigate even the most complex vehicle registration issues. Whether contacting banks, lien holders, or state offices, Gina embraces challenges to find solutions for her clients. When not helping customers with their vehicle paperwork, she enjoys camping in Harmony, PA with her two young daughters. Need assistance with your vehicle documentation? Speaker 1:

This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Lila Carter.

Speaker 2:

Welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast. Are you in need of a motor vehicle agency? One might be closer than you think. Today I have the pleasure of introducing your good neighbor, Gina Scheller, with Ingmar Auto Tags. Gina, how's it going? It's going good. How are you? Excellent. Thank you so much. We're excited to learn all about you and your business. Please tell us about your company.

Speaker 3:

So I am a motor vehicle agent and you would basically come here to title or register your vehicle. Every state's different, so some states have an actual department that you would go to, whereas Pennsylvania, the only big department is in Harrisburg. So unless you're going to drive to Harrisburg, this is where you'd go to do anything.

Speaker 2:

Excellent. How did you get into this business, Gina?

Speaker 3:

I was actually a stay-at-home mom for a few years and then during COVID I kind of just couldn't do it anymore. So, just looking around, I found a place that you didn't need any experience and then I just kind of caught on fast. There's not too much competition around here, so after leaving the other two local places, it was either find something else to do or go on my own.

Speaker 2:

Right, what are some?

Speaker 3:

myths or misconceptions in this industry. Um, definitely the main one is everyone thinks that the photo license center is the dmv, whereas it's not. So a lot of people actually go to the photo license center to do anything motor vehicle wise, but technically I'm considered the DMV.

Speaker 2:

Okay, so they can. A customer can get done anything at the DMV that could get done with you.

Speaker 3:

Basically except printing out driver's license. But you can't do anything motor vehicle-wise there. They only do driver's license, Okay.

Speaker 2:

And so, as we know that marketing is the heart of the business, who are your target customers and how do you track them?

Speaker 3:

Really anyone is, as long as you're old enough to buy a vehicle, and a lot of it seems to be word of mouth. It's kind of a goofy industry because I don't necessarily have anything to offer. Market wise, normally you don't come in because you want to. You come in because you have to whether you need something notarized or you need to, you know, switch a title. But you don't normally just come in to browse as like a regular store.

Speaker 2:

Right, and usually it's yeah, people meeting in need. Have you ever thought about doing your own podcast to get the word out and let people know that you're there?

Speaker 3:

I've never. I don't have much knowledge with the podcast industry so besides, like in the local newspaper and and online and things, I've really only just tried to knowledge people that I'm here.

Speaker 2:

Outside of work. What do you do for fun?

Speaker 3:

Well, I normally am at camp. We stay at a campground up in Harmony, PA, where my two young girls were normally there constantly. So besides that, not much.

Speaker 2:

Oh, I love going to camp. That's great. So, Gina, please tell our listeners one thing that they should remember about Ingmar Autotax.

Speaker 3:

I would definitely say it's problem solving. I don't necessarily think I've ever turned anybody away, necessarily think I've ever turned anybody away. I normally try to help as much as I can in figuring out the problem, even if it's going beyond contacting you know other, you know the banks or lien holders or the state, to try to figure out what the problem is. I like the challenge, so definitely a good spot for me, and if you are confused and have a problem, there's always ways around it.

Speaker 2:

And how can our listeners learn more about Ingramar Auto Tags?

Speaker 3:

about Ingmar Autotags. I would say just stopping in. If you ever have any questions, you can always email me, text the office phone, call the office phone, reach out through Facebook. There's normally ways to get a hold of me. Excellent, well.

Speaker 2:

Gina, I really appreciate your time today and having you as a guest on the show. We wish you and your business the best moving forward.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, thank you, it was really nice having you.
