E68: From Blueprints to Real-World Solutions: Meet the Engineer with Integrity, Danielle Baughman
What makes Danielle Baughman with ProShare Services LLC a good neighbor?
What does true accountability look like in engineering project delivery? Danielle Baughman, founder of ProShare Services, offers a refreshing perspective that challenges industry norms.
Danielle joins us to share how her certified woman-owned engineering and project management firm is revolutionizing project execution across oil and gas, energy, commercial construction, government, and utility sectors. With a chemical engineering background from the University of Pittsburgh and extensive experience with major corporations, she identified a critical gap between office-based design and field implementation that inspired her business.
The conversation explores ProShare's unique value proposition: bridging the divide between theoretical engineering solutions and practical field applications. "We take in the real life experiences of the operations and maintenance teams to provide solutions that work after a project is started up," Danielle explains. This approach ensures accountability throughout the entire project lifecycle, from initial economics through detailed design and construction to final handover.
We also discuss Danielle's strategic marketing approach using LinkedIn to establish credibility before in-person networking events, allowing her to bypass introductory steps when meeting potential clients. When asked what listeners should remember about ProShare Services, Danielle emphasizes their unwavering integrity: "We are not the firm that is going to slap a piece of duct tape onto a leaking pipe. We are going to spend time to plan and make sure that you have a quality design for your project."

This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Lila Carter.
Speaker 2:Welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast. Are you in need of an engineering or project management service? One might be closer than you think. Today I have the pleasure of introducing your good neighbor, Danielle Boffman, with ProShare Services. Danielle, how's it going?
Speaker 3:Good. Thank you for having me on the show today.
Speaker 2:Thanks for being here. We're excited to learn all about you and your business, so please tell us about your company.
Speaker 3:Sure. So ProShare Services is a certified woman-owned engineering and project management firm. We serve clients in the oil and gas, energy, commercial, construction, government and utility sectors and one thing that kind of sets us apart is that we bridge that gap in between the office and the field. So a lot of engineering firms will stop their design solutions in the office, where we have a lot of field experience, where we take in the real life experiences of the operations and maintenance teams to provide solutions that work after a project is started up.
Speaker 2:Excellent. How did you get into this business, Danielle?
Speaker 3:So my background is in chemical engineering and I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh. So I've worked for many large oil and gas companies throughout my career and I saw a gap in project delivery where I wanted to help these large corporations execute projects safely, on time and on budget. And so with my background and expertise in managing pipelines and compressor stations and highly detailed projects, I figured I could take that skill set and start a business where we can kind of be inserted and act as an extension for these engineering teams to help them execute their one-off projects.
Speaker 2:Sounds like that would take a lot of business acumen, specifically in the operational aspects and managing timelines and things. So what are some myths or misconceptions in this industry?
Speaker 3:I think some of the myths in the industry and with engineering in general is that our job stops after we hand over the design drawings to the contractor, and I truly believe that we need to take accountability for an entire project, from the upfront economics through detailed design and then construction. So one thing that does make us different is that we take that accountability and we want to make sure that when we hand that project over, it works for the field crews and that they have something that they can execute and run safely every single day.
Speaker 2:Very good. And as we're thinking about marketing as the heart of every business, who are your target customers and how are you attracting them to the firm?
Speaker 3:So a lot of our target customers work in the oil and gas industry and I really started doing a lot of marketing on social media, specifically LinkedIn, and so I've been working with a few people that have helped teach me the marketing ways of social media, marketing ways of social media. So I do that because it kind of skips the first two steps of introducing yourself and what you're about when you meet people in person at networking events, and so that's a good segue for me. Whenever I go to you know conferences, golf outings, clay shoots, any of those networking type events where I'm meeting decision makers a lot of times they'll say, hey, we see you on LinkedIn and we know who you are. So it's kind of a nice side thing to do. That kind of helps move along the contract process.
Speaker 2:Have you ever thought about perhaps starting your own podcast?
Speaker 3:You know multiple people have asked me that, but at this point I have been spending a lot of time on putting master service agreements in and bidding on engineering proposals. Possibly years down the line, after the business is running more automated, I could potentially do a podcast, but for right now I like just being a guest.
Speaker 2:I could potentially do a podcast, but for right now I like just being a guest. Sure, sure, and whenever you're not putting in all of these proposals, what are you doing for fun?
Speaker 3:So I love being outdoors. I do a lot of yoga and working out. I enjoy traveling. I'm actually going to Ireland and Scotland in the fall, so I'm very excited about that. I have a dog and during the winter I love to ski.
Speaker 2:Oh, very nice. Now, Danielle, please tell our listeners one thing that they should remember about ProShare services.
Speaker 3:One thing that you should remember about ProShare services is our integrity. We are not the firm that is going to slap a piece of duct tape onto a leaking pipe. We are going to spend time to plan and make sure that you have a quality design for your project.
Speaker 2:Yeah, really with that experiential focus, making sure that the details are straightened up? Yes, very good, awesome. And how can our listeners learn more about ProShare services?
