E77: The Human Side of AI: Tiffany Prince's Leadership Approach

Leila Carter & Tiffany Prince Episode 77

What makes Tiffany Prince with Top of the Mountain Leadership a good neighbor?

Ever wondered how your business can harness AI without getting overwhelmed? Meet Tiffany Prince, your good neighbor and founder of Top of the Mountain Leadership, who works at the critical intersection of technology, people, and processes for small to mid-sized businesses.

Tiffany shares her unexpected journey from manufacturing to becoming a passionate leadership developer and organizational consultant. She clarifies an important distinction between coaching and therapy—while therapy often looks backward at past experiences, coaching is forward-facing, helping leaders plan strategically and develop the skills needed for future success.

For business owners feeling uncertain about AI implementation, Tiffany offers a structured approach through her free assessment based on six critical success factors. Rather than letting technology lead your strategy, she helps companies align their business goals with appropriate technological solutions. Her comprehensive assessment examines everything from data quality and change readiness to AI policy development—all crucial elements of successful digital transformation.

Beyond her consulting work, Tiffany has launched "Talent Transformation Tuesday" on LinkedIn, focusing on the evolving employee experience from recruitment through retirement. She emphasizes keeping "humans in the loop" as technology advances, viewing AI not as a replacement for workers but as a tool to enhance human capabilities and provide employees with "superpowers."

Whether you're just starting to explore AI possibilities or looking to refine your leadership development programs, Tiffany's practical approach and accessible resources can help guide your journey. Check out her YouTube channel for quick insights, connect with her on LinkedIn for regular wisdom about navigating change, or visit topofthemountainleadership.com to learn how she can help transform your organization into a more adaptable, forward-thinking powerhouse.

Speaker 1:

This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Lila Carter.

Speaker 2:

Welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast. Are you in need of an organizational development consultant? One might be closer than you think. Today I have the pleasure of introducing your good neighbor, tiffany Prince with Top of the Mountain Leadership. Tiffany, how's it going?

Speaker 3:

It's going really well. Thanks for having me here today.

Speaker 2:

Thanks for being here. We're excited to learn all about you and your business, so please tell us more about your organization.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, so I work at the intersection with small to mid-sized businesses of technology, people and processes, and we know there's a lot of change that's going on around that right now, especially with AI, a lot of uncertainty where do I get started? So I've worked with executives to help them think about their strategy and also develop leadership programs and training programs that align with that to make sure that you're meeting your business goals. So I work at all levels of organizations, helping them to align across the board to make sure that they're achieving what they want to achieve and grow their business.

Speaker 2:

Very good. And how did you get into this business, Tiffany?

Speaker 3:

How did you get into this business, tiffany? A long time ago I was in manufacturing and we were ramping up and growing ourselves. In that scenario and I got tapped on the shoulder to be a trainer and at first I wasn't sure if that's what I really wanted to do full time. But I gave it a go and then, once I stepped into it, I really figured out that I love developing and coaching others and helping that light bulb moment go off for others. So I've been kind of growing in that space multiple different industries and I've lived and worked around the world helping organizations do the same.

Speaker 2:

What are some myths or maybe misconceptions in the coaching industry? What are?

Speaker 3:

some myths or maybe misconceptions in the coaching industry that it's therapy, which can be a fine line between you know what we're providing, which coaches are looking forward facing. So how can we do better into the future? How do we plan for that? How do we change our behaviors in that moment? Therapy is looking at things that may have happened in the past, or traumas or different things that you may need to think about or mull over, but that's definitely a very specialized and higher education certification than what I have. I'm more about business coaching, leadership. When you step into leadership roles, what things do you need to know, especially if this is the first time you're being a leader?

Speaker 2:

Right, well, that's a great analogy for our listeners there. So, as we think about marketing as the heart of any business. Who are your target customers and how are you attracting them to top of the mountain leadership?

Speaker 3:

Yeah. So a lot of the owners that I work with so small to mid-sized business owners, a lot of companies need to think about the AI strategy. So I have been doing a lot of kind of speaking engagements and training sessions and podcasts like this to kind of get out there to talk about you know, where are you in your journey? I have a very quick assessment that can kind of give you a very quick view of where you are, based on six critical success factors that I have, and that's free. If anybody wants to reach out to me, I can get that, and then I'll give you your results in the areas of you know, not just the technology.

Speaker 3:

Where's your data, what state is it in? What do we need to do to clean that up? What is your change readiness around this and have you put an AI policy in place? So I just kind of talk through with the owners to think about where are they in there and what are their goals. And then I also have a bank of use cases that can kind of get them kick-started in where they can address those business issues and find the right technology. Instead of technology leading them, it's more about your strategy and your business goals and then thinking about what technology makes sense to pull in.

Speaker 2:

So there's so many things to consider whenever you're thinking about what makes sense for your business. Have you ever thought about starting a podcast to help people figure it out?

Speaker 3:

It's funny that you should say that I actually just kicked off last week a Talent Transformation Tuesday that I'm hosting on LinkedIn. So if you want to find me on LinkedIn, I would love for you to join that conversation. It's really going to be about the employee experience, from coming into the door, recruiting, all the way to when they're retiring, and there's so many things that are changing and moving at the moment and, of course, ai is a big part of that and how we're bringing people on and also how we are leveraging the technology. I always say we have to have that human in the loop. So, talking about how does that help enhance our employees, to give them superpowers?

Speaker 2:

Absolutely, and so, outside of work, what do you do for fun?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, so I love hanging out with my husband and my dog. We like to take walks. This weekend we just went up to Erie, pennsylvania, for the first time and kind of checked out that space up there and poked around in some of the vineyards. So we really just like to take mini road trips and explore different parts of the country.

Speaker 2:

Oh, very nice.

Speaker 3:

What kind of pup do you have? She is a retriever mix from. As a rescue I've got her and she's 11 years old, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Probably a great family dog, yep. Tiffany please tell our listeners one thing that they should remember about top of the mountain leadership.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, so if you are just looking and you're curious about AI and don't know where to get started, I do have some short clips on my YouTube channel that can kind of give you some ideas of my perspective and how I work with clients. So feel free to you know, check that out.

Speaker 2:

Excellent, and how can our listeners learn more about Top of the Mountain Leadership?

Speaker 3:

Right now, I'm talking about how companies and leaders need to deal with change, which is all around us, but there are definitely ways to manage that and be a change leader versus getting overwhelmed and not knowing where to start.

Speaker 2:

Excellent. So if people need some coaching on adaptability, they know where to find you then.

Speaker 3:

It is Yep, that's what I do.
