E93: Wrye Wellness: Consent-Conscious Chiropractic Care that Doesn't Need Your Insurance
What makes Cacie Wrye with Wrye Wellness a good neighbor?
Forget the cold, clinical vibe- this conversation is all about care that feels human. We sit down with Dr. Cacie Wrye of Wrye Wellness to explore how a consent-first, trauma-informed approach can make chiropractic accessible, warm, and effective for people who’ve felt unseen or unsafe in traditional settings. From bright colors and plants to clear language and choices at every step, Dr. Cacie shows how environment and process shape outcomes as much as techniques do.
We get candid about the big myth that keeps people away: Do you really have to go forever? Dr. Cacie breaks down the difference between short-term relief and long-term stability, why both are valid, and how co-created plans keep you in the driver’s seat. We also unpack why Wrye Wellness moved beyond insurance and toward transparent packages- so care can follow needs, not billing codes. Expect honest talk about affordability, clear expectations, and what true patient-centered care looks like when consent is continuous, not a checkbox.
This story also highlights intentional inclusion. LGBTQ+ clients and trauma survivors often face dismissal or discomfort in healthcare; Wrye Wellness responds with tailored communication, careful positioning, and constant check-ins that honor boundaries. Along the way, we hear about golf’s humbling lessons, the joy of an aging rescue pup, and the everyday empathy that shapes a clinician who listens first and treats second. If you’ve been curious about chiropractic but wary of the vibes, this is your sign to rethink what care can feel like. Tap play, share with a friend who needs a gentler path to relief, and subscribe to stay close to conversations that put people before paperwork.

This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Lila Carter.
SPEAKER_01:Welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast. Are you in need of a chiropractic office? One might be closer than you think. Today I have the pleasure of introducing your good neighbor, Dr. Casey Rye, with Rye Wellness. Dr. Casey, how's it going?
SPEAKER_00:Very good. Thanks. How are you today?
SPEAKER_01:Very well. Thanks so much for asking. We're excited to learn all about you and your company. So please tell us more about your business.
SPEAKER_00:So I created Rye Wellness because I felt like chiropractic can be very scary for a lot of people and the offices can feel very sterile and unwelcoming. So I wanted to create a space that everybody felt welcome and safe. I know that people watch TikTok videos and it can be very intimidating for them. So I wanted to create somewhere that felt just not sterile. I have plants everywhere. I try to choose bright colors. I really focus on making sure that everybody feels included, regardless of race, color, gender, and um I also don't do insurance because I feel like I can't treat the person the best way. And it can be very expensive with insurance sometimes. So I created packages to make sure that it can be affordable for everybody.
SPEAKER_01:Very good. And how did you get into this business initially?
SPEAKER_00:I initially wanted to be a doctor, and then I found that a lot of it was based on pharmaceuticals, and I wanted to heal the whole body. And when I job shadowed one, it seemed like you were the doctor was in and out. The nurse did most of the talking, and I really wanted to be more engaged with patients. And so then I found chiropractic and it was perfect because you know the doctor and the patient are the ones having the one-on-one conversations.
SPEAKER_01:Absolutely. Yeah, working closely with your clients and really addressing them holistically is certainly, yeah, that would be right up your alley with the chiropractic care. Excellent. What are some myths or maybe misconceptions in your industry that you'd like to talk about today?
SPEAKER_00:A lot of people think that once you go to the chiropractic once, you have to go forever. And it's a choice. It's like working out or going to the dentist. If you want to continue on, it's great. It helps you move better, feel better, prevent bigger problems from happening. Or if you just want to come in, get fixed for the couple visits and go on your way, that's also perfectly fine. Whatever works for you, we will make work for you.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, it can only help. It can't really hurt unless someone's doing something wrong.
SPEAKER_00:I always have those conversations with people. You know, I ask if they want to just treat the problem or if they want it more long-term stabilizing.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, excellent. And so as we're thinking of marketing as the heart of any business, who are your target customers and how are you currently attracting them to Rye Wellness?
SPEAKER_00:I feel like the majority of my clients have been LBGQ just because I feel like they fall through the holes or they don't get taken seriously. So I try to just be a safe haven for them where we can have discussions, we can tailor the service to them. A lot of people with traumas, you know, doctors don't want to take those extra steps to make them feel comfortable. So I want to be a space where we take the time and we make sure that everything is comfortable with you and you feel good.
SPEAKER_01:That's very sweet. And have you ever possibly thought about maybe doing your own podcast to reach your audience?
SPEAKER_00:I thought about it. I have a terrible fear of public speaking. I've been stressed about this all week. So um I do it is something I would look into, but I would definitely have to do some work to overcome some fears.
SPEAKER_01:Gotcha. Well, you're doing great.
SPEAKER_00:So thank you.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, outside of work, what do you do for fun?
SPEAKER_00:I actually just got into golf. Um, I started it with my boyfriend about a year ago, and I have loved it so much because you get to be outside, the courses are gorgeous, and also it's such a challenge. Like that sport makes me so angry. Like one day I can hit the ball perfect, and the next it's just like I've never played a day in my life. Honestly, my favorite thing is um cuddling my pup. Well, he's 11, but um, he's a rescue pit bull, and he's just my soulmate. I love him so much.
SPEAKER_01:Oh, very sweet. I have an eight-year-old Pomeranian.
SPEAKER_00:Oh the older age is such a sweet age. Like, I hate seeing them age, but man, it's so sweet and special.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, he still acts like a puppy, but now he has a little crooked smile from some gentle work and it makes him even cuter.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, Drogo acts like a puppy, but uh his little bow legs are a little rough, so I have to carry him down the steps sometimes.
SPEAKER_01:Aw very sweet. I love that. So, Dr. Casey, please tell our listeners one thing that they should remember or should stick with them about rye wellness.
SPEAKER_00:Um it doesn't matter really what I think is um the best. I always go for I talk to the patient, and I want them to know that no matter what, I'm not gonna do something if they're not comfortable with it. And I always try to talk through everything, make sure that, you know, if sometimes gone through, are you still wanting to continue care? Do you want to start wrapping it up? I just want them to know they're never locked in, they're never gonna be pushed to do something or have something done to them that they don't want done.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, I know that's very important whenever you're dealing with victims of trauma. Yes, that level of consent and you know, constantly checking in, I'm sure, is very much appreciated by your audience. So thank you for what you do and your sensitivity towards that.
SPEAKER_00:Thank you.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. How can our listeners learn more about Rye Wellness?
SPEAKER_00:Uh, so my website is RyeWellness.com, and on there uh you can email me, you can set up appointments. Also, they can call at 412-235-7103. I do everything, so everything goes directly to me.
