A Stanford study analysing more than 4 million job applications found some AI hiring systems disproportionately screened out Black and Asian applicants across 156 employers.

The issue was not limited to one company. Many businesses were using the same underlying AI infrastructure, creating what researchers called “algorithmic monoculture.”

The podcast highlights why AI governance matters. Businesses deploying AI into recruitment, finance, healthcare, and customer service workflows need human oversight, bias testing, monitoring, transparent reporting, and regular red team testing.

The key message is simple.

AI improves automation and efficiency, but businesses still need accountability, governance, and operational oversight built into every AI workflow.
