Family… let’s talk real.
In this episode of Holy Bars: Raw Truths From the Streets to the Spirit, your girl Sherita McShae’ is diving into something raw and unfiltered:
👉🏽 Every setback is a setup.
We’ve all had moments where life didn’t go according to plan — doors closed, opportunities slipped away, and delays had us questioning everything. But what if those moments weren’t failures at all?
What if they were divine setups?
Using Romans 8:28, we break down how God is working behind the scenes — even in the rejection, even in the delay, even in the disappointment — to position you for purpose, growth, and your next level.
This episode speaks to anyone who’s:
✔️ Feeling overlooked or ignored
✔️ Struggling with delays and unanswered prayers
✔️ Questioning if they’re really on the right path
The truth is — the streets can teach you survival, hustle, and endurance…
but they can’t teach you God’s timing, patience, or spiritual preparation.
Sis, what felt like a loss… was actually preparation.
🎧 Tune in as we shift perspective, strengthen our faith, and learn how to see setbacks through God’s eyes — not as endings, but as setups for something greater.

Hey fam, what's good? You're locked in with Chicken the Spirit and it's time for your midweek boost, your seed of faith. I'm Shritham Shea and I came to drop a quick word that hits home and holds weight. It's short, it's strong, and it's straight from the word. Let's grow. Hey family, it's your girl Shri Mache and welcome back to Holy Bars, Raw Truths from the Streets to the Spirit. Over the past two weeks, we've talked about trusting God over the naysayers and surviving the pressures of ambition without compromising your soul. Today we're diving into something that hits raw and uncut. Understanding that every setback, every closed door, and every moment of delay is actually a divine setup that the streets, the culture, and even the people around you can't teach you. This episode is for anyone who's been frustrated, disappointed, or even doubting their path because life hasn't gone according to plan. God wants you to know that what feels like a failure is actually a setup for your next level, your breakthrough in your destiny, if you can see it through his eyes. Listen carefully. Every time you've been knocked down, ignored, or overlooked, it was not the end of your story. It was God orchestrating, preparing, and positioning you for something greater. Today, we're breaking down how to see setbacks as setups, how to align your perspective with God's timing, and how to transform pain, delay and rejection into fuel for your faith, growth, and ultimate victory. Alright, let's get into the word coming from the book of Romans chapter eight verse twenty eight. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Think about that. Every no, every rejection, every failure, in every moment that felt unfair is not outside of God's control. He is working all things together, the disappointments, the betrayals, the delays to position you exactly where you need to be for his purpose to unfold. Life may look messy, chaotic, and even discouraging, but God sees the bigger picture that you cannot. Imagine a rapper dropping a miss tape that flops, getting no recognition, and feeling like all their effort was wasted. Later, that very struggle and the lessons learned from it prepared them for a major record deal, influence in the industry, in a platform to inspire millions. What felt like a setback was actually a divine setup, a preparation period that the streets, fame, or hustle alone could never teach. The lesson here is that setbacks are not punishments, they are preparations. God uses what you perceive as failure to teach, refine, and position you for something far greater than you could have imagined. If you embrace the process, your faith grows, your wisdom expands, and your resilience becomes unshakable. Let's open with prayer. Lord, I thank you for turning setbacks into setups and for showing us that delays, disappointments, and challenges are not failures, but divine preparations. Help us to see every moment through your eyes, to trust your timing and to align our hearts with your plans. Let us embrace every setback as a lesson, an opportunity, and then stepping stone into our destiny. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Let's get into this message. Let's get real. Setbacks are painful, and it's tempting to feel like life is against you. Maybe you lost an opportunity, a relationship didn't work out, a job fell through, or a dream seemed to stall indefinitely. The streets teach survival, hustle, and endurance, but they can't teach patience, divine timing, or the act of walking through God's preparation. Every setback contains a lesson. It may be a lesson in humility, perseverance, discernment, or faith. Sometimes God delays your breakthrough so that when it arrives, you are ready to steward it wisely. Sometimes setbacks remove toxic people, bad habits, or false dependencies from your life, creating space for growth. Sometimes what looks like failure is actually the exact preparation needed for your next level of influence, opportunity, or anointing. Half-hearted believers often curse setbacks, question God, or try to shortcut the process. Wholehearted believers study the lessons, trust the timing, and use setbacks as fruit to rise stronger, smarter, and more spiritually mature. Your perspective determines whether a setback breaks you or builds you. It's time for some real talk. Let's get raw. Some of you are frustrated because life hasn't been fair and you're watching others seemingly succeed effortlessly. Maybe you're tired of doors closing, feeling overlooked, or thinking why me? The streets don't prepare you for spiritual endurance, divine patience, or trusting God in the unseen. That frustration, disappointment, and confusion is exactly what God is using to stretch your faith, refine your character, and prepare your heart for the blessings that are coming. Here's an example. Perhaps a project, a business, or a creative idea failed. Maybe a friendship or relationship ended in heartbreak. At the time it hurt, it felt unfair, and it seemed like life was against you. But later, God revealed that failure positioned you for a bigger opportunity, taught you lessons you would have missed, and strengthened you to handle success without compromise. Here's a lesson. Your setbacks are never permanent. They are temporary, purposeful, and strategic. Lean in, reflect, and allow God to teach you through every delay and disappointment. When you see setbacks as setups, your faith grows, your resilience strengthens, and your life aligns with His perfect plan. Here's our faith confession. Repeat after me. I declare today that every setback in my life is a setup for my divine purpose. I will not be discouraged, I will not quit, and I will not allow temporary delays to steal my faith. I trust God's timing, embrace his lessons, and walk boldly into the destiny he has prepared for me. Let us close with prayer. Father, I thank you for using every setback, delay, and disappointment to prepare us for what's next. Help us to embrace every lesson, trust your timing, and walk confidently in the knowledge that you are working all things together for our good, strengthen our faith, build our resilience, and prepare us to steward every blessing you have in store. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. All right, family, thank you for tuning in. But listen, every setback is a setup. Every closed door, failed dream, or disappointment is positioning you for something greater. Stop questioning God's timing, stop comparing your journey, and start trusting that every challenge is working for your good. Remember, it's your girl Sharita Mache, and if this episode spoke to your heart, email me at ChickInThesPast at gmail.com. Share your testimony, your lessons learned, or how God is turning your setbacks into setups. I want to celebrate your growth. So next Wednesday, we close out this series with episode four, Turning Chains into Change. Testimonies of Transformation through faith. You don't want to miss it. It's raw, uncut, and unfiltered. And that's your seed. Don't let it sit, let it sink deep, speak it, believe it, live it. This walk ain't easy, but with God, you've got everything you need to win. Catch you next Wednesday right here on Chicken the Spirit. Stay lit, stay lifted, and let your faith talk louder than your fear.
