“Everybody Ain’t Solid… And You Know That”
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Let’s be honest for a minute…
Everybody talks about loyalty. Everybody claims they’re real.
But when it comes down to it… people will show you who they are—and a lot of times, we just don’t want to accept it.
In this episode of Chic in the Spirit, we’re having a real conversation about what happens when somebody shows you the truth about them… and instead of accepting it, you try to reinterpret it, justify it, or give it more chances than it deserves.
This isn’t just about people being “wrong”…
this is about discernment, influence, and the quiet ways we start adjusting our standards just to stay connected.
We’re talking about:
• Why you keep giving chances when it’s already clear
• How you can see the signs… but still ignore them
• The difference between confusion and avoidance
• And why accepting the truth will require you to move differently
Scripture focus:
“Do not be misled: Bad company corrupts good character.” — 1 Corinthians 15:33
At some point… you have to stop asking for clarity and start accepting what’s already been shown.
Because the truth is…
you’re not confused.
You just don’t want to accept it.

Hey fam, what's good? You're locked in with Chicken the Spirit and it's time for your midweek boost, your seed of faith. I'm Shrita Mache and I came to drop a quick word that hits home and holds weight. It's short, it's strong, and it's straight from the word. Let's grow. Hey family, it's your girl Srita Mache and welcome back to Chicken the Spirit. Listen, Wednesdays, we're not just talking about music for the sake of music. We're not just vibing. We're not just quoting lyrics and moving on. We're actually sitting with what's being said. We're paying attention to the mindset behind it, the experiences behind it, and the reality that a lot of what you hear in music, if you're honest, connects to real life more than we like to admit. Because music doesn't just come from nowhere, it comes from experiences, it comes from relationships, it comes from situations people have actually lived through. And when you really listen, you start hearing truth in it. And today we about to talk about one of those truths that everybody says they understand, but a lot of people still struggling to accept when it shows up in real life. Let me ask you something. Have you ever had a moment where somebody showed up exactly who they were? Not in a confusing way, not in a maybe I'm overthinking it kind of way, but in a clear, undeniable way. And instead of accepting it, you try to reinterpret it, you try to soften it, you try to give them the benefit of the doubt. You try to make it make sense in a way that felt better to you, even though deep down you already knew what it was. And I had to sit with that in my own life because there were moments where somebody's action spoke loud and clear, not suitable, not confusing, not something I had to analyze for hours. It was right there. But instead of taking it for what it was, I found myself trying to explain it, trying to see the other side, trying to justify it, trying to convince myself that maybe it wasn't what it looked like. And when I really stepped back, I had to ask myself, why am I doing all this work to understand something that was already clear? And the answer was uncomfortable because it wasn't about them, it was about me not wanting to accept what is meant, because accepting it would have required me to move differently. And this is why when you hear certain lyrics about loyalty, about people switching up, about not everybody being solid, it hits because it's not just music, it's real life. Everybody talks about loyalty, everybody says they're real, everybody claims they're solid, but the truth shows up in actions. And if you really think about your own experiences, you've seen that before. You've been around people who said one thing but showed something completely different. You've been in situations where you expected consistency and got the opposite, and instead of accepting it immediately, you gave it time, you gave it chances, you tried to see it differently, and that's where the disconnect happens. Let's get into the word coming from the book of 1 Corinthians chapter 15, verse 33. Do not be misled. Bad company corrupts good character. Now let's really talk about this because this is not just about bad people, this is about influence. This is about who you allow around you and how their behavior, their mindset, and their actions start affecting you over time. Because whether you realize it or not, the people you keep around you impact you, not always immediately, but gradually. You start tolerating things you normally wouldn't tolerate, you start normalizing things that don't align with you. You start adjusting your standards without even realizing it, and that's how people end up staying connected to situations that they already saw weren't right because instead of stepping back, they adjusted, and over time that adjustment becomes normal. Let's open with prayer. Lord, thank you for the ability to see things clearly, even when we don't always want to accept them. Help us to recognize people for who they are, not who we want them to be, and give us the strength to respond accordingly instead of staying in situations we already know are not aligned. In Jesus' name. Amen. Let's get into this message. Let's really go there. Because not everybody is solid, and I don't say that in a negative way. I say that in a real way because everybody doesn't have the same intentions as you. You just didn't accept it the first time. And that's where we have to be honest. Because once somebody shows you something consistently, that's not confusion, that's information. It's time for some real talk. Let's get into it. Let's be real. Some of y'all are not confused about people. You're hoping they'll be different, and hope will keep you connected longer than clarity will. You keep giving chances, you keep overlooking things, you keep explaining things away, not because you don't see it, but because you don't want to accept it. And the longer you stay in that, the more you start feeling drained because now you're investing in something that's not giving you what you need. And at some point, you have to stop and ask yourself, how many times do I need to see something before I accept it? So now I need you to really sit with this. Where in your life are you ignoring what's already been shown to you? Where are you holding on to potential instead of accepting reality? Where are you staying connected, even though you already know what it is? And if you're honest, why? And here's the truth in all of this: discernment means nothing if you don't act on it. Seeing clearly means nothing if you keep choosing to ignore what you see, because at that point, it's not about them anymore, it's about your response. Here's our faith confession for today. Say this with me slowly. I trust what I see, I will no longer ignore what has been shown to me. I release the need to make people into who I want them to be. I choose peace over attachment. Let us close with prayer. Father, thank you for showing us truth, even when it's uncomfortable. Give us the strength to accept what we see and the wisdom to move accordingly. Help us to stop ignoring what is clear and start choosing what aligns. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Alright, family, listen, everybody is not solid, and that's okay. But it's not okay to keep ignoring it once you see it. So pay attention and move accordingly.
