S02 E01: When the Assignment Shifts: Learning to Move With the Change

Tabitha J Season 2 Episode 1

Sometimes life changes before we do. The work, the rhythm, the relationships — they don’t feel the same anymore. But that doesn’t always mean something’s wrong; it might just mean your season is shifting.

In this opening episode of Poised for Purpose: Season 2 – Walking It Out, Tabitha J talks about what it looks like to evolve without guilt, release what no longer fits, and lean into peace when purpose starts to move in a new direction. Because sometimes the shift isn’t a setback — it’s an invitation to grow.

SPEAKER_00:

Hey everyone, happy Monday. Welcome to Poise for Purpose, the space where calling meets clarity and faith meets function. I'm your host, Tabitha J, and we are in season two where we're walking it out. Because at some point, purpose stops being a plan on paper, and it starts becoming a daily walk. And that's where things start getting real. So now we're gonna talk about assignment shifting. Sometimes life starts shifting before we do, and you can feel that nudge, you know, that quiet knowing that something's different, but you know, you don't quite know what to do with it. Maybe the job that used to excite you now just drains you. Or that business idea that you loved, it doesn't light you up like it used to. That's not failure, folks. What that is, is you feeling the friction. Well, that's how you know the assignment might be shifting. Because what I've learned is that purpose doesn't always change, but how you live it out does. You might still be called to lead, teach, create, or build, but the format that changes. So sometimes what used to fit, it doesn't anymore because you've outgrown it, and that's not a bad thing. It just means that the version of you that once needed that space, it's evolved. The hard part, it's not knowing that something's changing, but it's releasing what's familiar. We tend to tell ourselves, but you know, this is what I've always done, or people expect this from me. But the consistency doesn't mean staying stuck, it means just staying aligned. So if you feel like the energy around something has shifted, don't ignore that. Pay attention because sometimes that peace that you're headed towards, that's your new confirmation. I remember this season where I kept trying to breathe life into a project that had clearly run its course, and the deadlines, you know, they got heavier and the spark was gone, and I found myself forcing what used to flow, and then it hit me. The work, the work hadn't failed, and I hadn't failed. The work had just finished. Sometimes you gotta give yourself permission to pivot without feeling that guilt, you know. It's not giving up, it's you just falling in alignment and making room for what's next. So when your assignment shifts, there's some things you gotta keep in mind. Remember, you are always allowed to evolve. Growth will always challenge that comfort zone. And just pause for a minute before you start panicking because every change doesn't require this full rebrand or this major shifting and changing. Sometimes you just need to adjust the rhythm a little bit. And peace, let that lead you. Because if this thing is forcing you to fight for clarity every single day, that's when you know that it might be time to re-evaluate. So your reflection for the week, ask yourself, what areas of your life feel like it's pulling you forward, but you keep trying to hold it still. Maybe that's where the shift is happening. Don't overthink it, just start moving in the direction of peace, even if it's just one small step. Because walking it out, it doesn't mean having it all figured out, it just means showing up for the version of you that's growing. Well, thanks for hanging out with me today. We're just getting started. But if this episode hit home, share it with someone who's in that in-between space, you know, still grateful but ready for something new. Next week, we're gonna talk about the power of quiet seasons, how to stay grounded when progress is looking slow. Until then, keep walking it out and stay poised for purpose.
